  1. I agree completely. Just like everyone needs a purpose in life, my characters need a purpose in-game. My guild also needs a purpose, guilds are more like chat rooms without a purpose. The reason why I unsubbed was not out of bitterness. I had a great time. I just unsubbed because I went weeks without playing, and realized that I had lost interest. No point paying for a service you don't use.
  2. If said expansion includes this, I may come back AND stay.
  3. Just because a game is old doesn't detract from the good in it. No one plays Everquest anymore, but that doesn't mean that it sucks, simply that it's outdated. All you are doing is disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. Answer this... What can a guild achieve in SWTOR that a "group" cannot achieve? Never have I played an MMO with so many guildless high lvl characters walking around. What aspects of the game does socializing effect?
  4. I feel you on the load screens. They drive me crazy, and absolutely kill immersion... Those useless orbital space-stations... I don't get why all space-ports need to be instanced separately from the game-world.
  5. For instance, back in the day in Asheron's Call 2, there were warring factions who fought to control differen't in-game zones. It was epic. There was a sense of good versus evil in the universe. Going inside of an instance and then completing a mission, then stepping out to a world that is unaffected by player actions gives a sense that what you did, did not matter. When people have a reason to "unite" for a challenging cause, when guilds have a "larger calling" than a social group, then the world comes alive. It becomes a social world, not just a world in which you can talk to people while playing. That is once way of adding a sense of purpose to socializing. Basically everything you do as a "team" in swtor revolves around going inside of an instance that doesn't effect anything except for your group's XP.
  6. True. Another not is the fact that it seemed extremely easy to get to lvl 50. I feel like it was harder to get to lvl30 is some other MMOs than it is to get to lvl50 in SWTOR. Once you get to the "top", you kind of realize that you've reached the edge of the universe. Maybe the fact that we are about four months in and the Legacy system is still just an afterthought.
  7. I was an officer in a 150+ player guild. I am not referring to "talking to people", I am speaking about gameplay that effects the world it's self. Real people don't go from battle to battle to battle to battle, there is a "rest period". Or the fact that nothing you do actually effects the balance of light/dark in the universe.
  8. I understand that aspect. But the fact that there are no player ruled territories in the game world, that makes socializing more like being in a chat room as opposed to being in a game-world. The world is static... there isn't even a night and day, nor are there locations to encourage socializing. Pazzak or speeder racing could have been an interesting side game. The fact remains that you are either "fighting" the opposing faction or you are doing nothing.
  9. SWTOR was the most fun I've probably has in most any MMO. But the fact of the matter is that it is repetitive, and the game's weakness is the "social" aspect. Flash points are great, warzones are "alright"... But the problem is that the world is not "alive". There are not player controlled factions. You cannot buy a "house", you cannot play any social games, crafting and the galactic market are "ok", not great... but there is no way to have a "storefront". While the story line is amazing, as an MMO this game doesn't revolve in any way around socializing other than trying to get groups for flashpoints. Also, the rail space-fighting system got old... in y 400+ hours of play I did maybe ten space missions.
  10. When I unsubscribed they gave me a survey asking why. I told them, due to lack of ability to transfer my high level character to a server that has a high population. My server was dead and I didn't feel like repeating the Jedi Knight story, and put another 300+ hours of work in leveling. My first play through, I loved it... but on the second play through, there was no real variation.
  11. If you just delete it from the control panel it will delete all 20GB of data. It only says 13mb on the control panel but the reality is that it will prompt you asking if you want to delete all associated files and folders and if you select "Yes" then everything will be deleted. No need to try to do it manually...as you will probably miss a few files.
  12. 200 million budget... This game is great, but maybe they could've spent that money more wisely. SWTOR didn't have to be an MMO to catch my interest.
  13. No one is crying doom on the game as a whole. What this thread is about is that some servers have population issues and it's ruining the game for some of us. This is a fact.
  14. Something that drives me crazy.... Who decides what amount of people is "Standard", "Heavy" or "Light"? Is it a general measurement of population or is it a relative measurement since "Standard" indicates that it is only a relative measurement. Even when the server I was on would say "Standard" it was relatively empty. If there are 1million+ subscribers then where are they? Because I doubt my original server has ever exceeded 1000 players on at any given moment.
  15. I had server pop issues.. I was often alone on planets. I rerolled on a high pop server but got bored re-doing everything I spent 300 hours doing on my original character. I lost interest 3 weeks ago but didnt turn off auto-sub until today... I have about 3 weeks left on my subscription. A character/Legacy transfer feature would have prevented me from losing interest in the game.
  16. Seriously, for the OP to think that anyone who has an issue with the game is some sort of a "hater" is just ignorant. If everyone just said "good job!" or stayed quiet then Bioware wouldn't know what was wrong. When I unsubscribed I was given a short survey and a comment box asking me "Why"... No doubt the devs and corporate execs are both more interested in those un-subscribe surveys than the rants and raves. But if the problems don't get discussed and there is no "community" then people would simply "unsubscribe" and Bioware wouldn't even know why.
  17. No doubt some servers should be merged... Personally all I want is to be able to transfer my characters and Legacy Points to a server of my choosing. I don't mind paying for the service either.
  18. Agreed. I would be happy even if I could pay a fee to have my characters/legacy transferred/merged... But this problem has absolutely NO solution in the works and Bioware hasn't even addressed it.
  19. Hell, I love the game. It's definitely the best MMO ever made... but it's also the newest MMO ever made... So, naturally it's superior. My issue is server population. I had a high lvl character in a server where planet pops in some planets wouldn't go above 8 at peek times, and often I would be the only player on planets. I rerolled in a higher pop server, but soon lost interest after getting around lvl30 or so... It was a chore to just repeat the same missions I had already done. My first play though, I was gripped by the plot and enjoyed every side quest... but once you always know how things will turn out then it's not as gripping. Also, rerolling on a new server also means resetting Legacy... after logging 300 or so hours on my original character it became discouraging to see all that hard work become vain.
  20. Everyone talks about how many people are in "fleet"... but other than FPs what good are players in fleet? In my original server I often would be the only person on the planet... It's a pretty lonely feeling to be the only man in a world.
  21. Also, for people who are talking about "successful retention percentages"... Think about this. 1 person per month pays $14.99 10,000 people per month pay $149,900 1 person with monthly sub yearly pays $179.88 10,000 people with monthly subs yearly pay $1,798,800 85% of 1,000,000+ subscribers also equals a 15% loss which accounts for at least 150,000 people who are no longer a source of income. 150,000 x 14.99 = $2,248,500 lost in one month alone! If problems like character transfers aren't addressed then more people will grow bored of the game. Once some one grows bored of the game the odds that they will resubscribe are pretty minimal. Since it entails starting over from square one. I assume the reason why they don't allow character transfers is because they know that low-pop servers will die a quick death when the vast majority transfer out. Then there will be server shut-downs and that will give an appearance of failure which may reduce the influx of new customers. Companies think in the form of crunching numbers, not critical acclaim.
  22. You can argue about whether server pops are "too low" or not... But the fact of the matter is that I don't spend all day in fleet. When every planet I go besides Coruscant and Tython have less than 8 people it starts to feel less like a "Great MMO" and more like a "Mediocre solo game". I did reroll in a high pop server, and it's great pop wise!... However I invested 300 hours of my life lvling my original character and Legacy. After re-rolling I have to repeat the same missions and progress through the same story line... On top of it, I don't even earn Legacy points for it! I lost interest and haven't played in a few weeks, so today I decided to unsubscribe from an otherwise great game that I waited years for. If I was able to pay 20$ and transfer my character from my original character then I would do it. But the option isn't even given.
  23. Thankfully, when you choose to unsubscribe there is a small survey that asks you "why" you've chosen to unsubscribe. It's my assumption that the devs will pay more attention to this rather than ignorant "bye can I have your stuff" forum posts.
  24. Yeah... I think you just reinforced the OP's point.
  25. I agree. I really had a lot of fun with this game... But once I realized my server was all but empty I got bored. I then started a new character on a high-pop server and then realized that I had to start at square one...repeat the same missions, my Legacy was completely reset. Also finding a new guild that was fun proved to be an impossible challenge. Ultimately, I don't care about mergers... But all I want is at least the ability to transfer my high lvl character to another server. I've all but lost interest in the game and I'm turning auto auto-pay off. It's not out of malice or anything, but for me personally, I've lost interest. I haven't played the game in about three weeks.
