  1. This. What this person just posted ends this pointless thread. While both sides make poor or considered evil choices from time to time, the scale the empire weighs in on is far far outweighing the republic.
  2. Ok this will be sort of on topic as well as off topic. In all honesty if you find a light armor robe you like the look of, there is very little difference between light and medium currently. When I hit 50 I hated the look of some of the medium robes so I decided to step out on a limb and fully mod a light robe with the hood down visual. At 50 the armor loss between medium and light was around 150 armor which was equal to about 0.6% armor reduction which is very minimal. All in all subbing in a light robe for a cooler look will not effect your gameplay, most likely you wont even notice the difference.
  3. Your point is not even close to valid. Want a tip? Go roll a Jedi knight, you will quickly find out how terrible your bunny love Empire truly is. Also, most of those things that happend to the trooper may seem bad on the surface. But were done to save thousands. Ever heard the saying sacrifice 1 to save 100? I sence much fear in you.
  4. So I have been doing some pvp recently on Illum and I have to say...despite popular belief, i'm having a blast. While we may not have the extreme survivability some players may want, we still hit very hard and have the ability to tear through other players. The game was never meant to be 1v1 fights so most of the arguements players have are invalid. Pvp for the most part is a team effort and if played as a team, sentinels are very viable and nice to have around. I dont see how other players are having trouble unless they arent sticking with their team. You will never be targeted first even if you are fairly squishy, any smart player will always attack the healer first. All in all as a Sentinel, try pvp but be smart...stick with your group and use your defensive cooldowns. It is very fun to see someones health drop from 100% to 25% in a matter of seconds. May the force be with you!
  5. I hate to break it to you OP but there is something called "muscle memory". The more you do something, the better you get at it. The issue with most games these days is the average player looks for a way to make things easier and lazy. If you have been a clicker all of your MMO life, you will easily compete with the elitists such as yourself who are intent on telling others that keybinding and mouse turning is the best and only way to be the best. Unfortunately this way of thinking is not true at all. While it may be better for the average player, it is in no way the best for everyone. As others have stated, some of the best players in the world still click and I guarantee could roll you any day of the week. All in all, please refrain from posting garbage like this. It's a playstyle choice, not a must. My advice to new Jedi Knights, play how you feel comfortable and practice at it, you can be just as good if not better.
  6. This time I will post a reply in regards to rotations and helpful things since I have been absent for about a week. And again folks, I cant stress this enough. I did not make this post for flames, sentinel haters or crying so please take that elsewhere. This post is meant to be helpful to make other Sentinels succeed in their journey. As previously stated I am a 50 combat Sentinel and have been since level 10. A little background for new commers on this post who dont want to beleive some of my advice because it may not "add up". I have never died more than once on any quest from 1-50(including class quests), 90% of them I didn't die at all. This is not meant to be braging rights, just merely to prove my ideas and theories do work, as long as they are executed or followed as I post them. Anyways...now that thats out of the way. Lets discuss rotation ideas for your spec's, I would appreciate community input as well because my way's are in no way the best. They are just what I have found to work well for me. How your rotation takes place is very situational and depends on the oponent type your facing. For example: Knowing an enemy has knockback, dont open with Force Leap. Also...Casters, you will have to include interputs into your rotation if they are anything stronger than a "weak" mob. -As stated in my original post, I always open with my companion (I have always used Kira since I got her on Coruscunt). -On "normal" non situational Strong (silver), Elite (gold) or Boss (Silver/Gold) mobs, the simple rotation that works great for me is. *Force leap, Zealous Strikes, Blade Rush, Precision Slash, Master Strike, Blade Storm. (this is my short term burn phase). -A silver (strong) enemy of my level will not live through this short rotation. -If the oponent is an Elite (gold), I normally follow the previous rotation up with Force Stasis, Zealous Strikes again, (for some strange reason I end up hitting "Strike" a time or two) follow up with Precision slash again, pop Zen, Blade rush X2, Blade Storm again. (at this point the Elite mob is normally dead if he didnt die earlier from lucky crits). -In short for Elite & Boss mobs my rotation looks something like this... *Force leap, Zealous Strikes, Blade Rush, Precision Slash, Master Strike, Blade Storm, Force Stasis, Zealous Strikes, Strike X2, Precision Lash, Zen, Blade Rush X2, Blade Storm.* In a normal situation I will have taken threat off of the tank halfway through the rotation and will hafta hit Force Camo to drop threat. Often times I will regain threat on bosses after Master Strike comes off CD. Insert your defensive cooldowns where you feel they need to go, every enemy is different and uses different abilities. As I stated before, this is not the best rotation...This is the best rotation for my playstyle and has always worked for me. Also again, please refrain from flames and negative input Lets hear some other rotations people use! Keep up the good input folks! May the Force be with you!
  7. While I thank you for your input. Please keep this on topic and helpful information only This forum post is to help players get better at this class, not to deter them to reroll something else. However in order to give you feedback I will reply in regards to pvp. Sentinel is not the only class having trouble in pvp, in all honesty there are only like 3 pvp dominant class/spec combos so far. Focus Sentinel's are actually quite decent in pvp, we just rely heavily on those 1-2 large crits. Pvp is a playstyle game, not necissarily a class game. If you get unlucky and pinned up against a group of experienced geared players. Yes you will feel your class is inferior. There really isnt a failsafe way to tell if the opposite faction is better geared than you are. Pvp is unfortunately quite unbalanced at the moment for several classes. Quitting and playing something else is not the answer, eventually Bioware will find a good solution and who knows, maybe Sentinels will be OP in pvp for a while Good luck and may the force be with you!
  8. +10 for awesomeness. Truly an epic poem sir. It's a shame it's so true!
  9. Honestly other than inputting combat logs. It's impossible to tell the difference because even though your character sheet says how high your surge rating is. Your surge damage output is a random number generated. To give you an example, look at your lightsaber, it gives you a damage spread of minimum and maximum damage. Your crit's may "look" lower to you after the patch but thats all in your head when in reality you could be getting unlucky and getting crit #'s closer to your minimum damage rather than your maximum. I personally havent noticed any large difference in how fast things die on my 50 Sentinel. My crits are still just as large as they ever were. All in All, even though they told us in the notes that there was a reduction in Surge rating. At this current point in game it will be impossible to tell the difference, it's a random number generator that determines if you hit the minimum or maximum damage. Blame lady luck if your crits seem lower, I always have
  10. I hate to say such a cheezy thing, but after the nerf...I feel like the great Emporer was turned into a lvl 1 training droid. Sooooo sooo simple, I 1 shot him the other night. Here is how, no bugs or glitches included. Pillar hump. That is all. He wont be able to pull off a single spell, just spin around the pillars swining 1-2 times each time you pass by. Line of Sight on a caster mob is your best friend, no need for interupts. As many others have stated recently, I almost felt cheated after I 1 shot him with 80% of my health left and a quick 2 minute fight. For first time MMO players, if a caster mob cant see you...they cant hit you. Also, dont let his fearsome sith lightsaber fool you. It's just for show, he doesnt hit with it. Just keep spinning around the pillar, it will constantly interupt his casting automatically and slap him once or twice as you run by. Just stop for a breif moment to 1 shot each of his clones then back to spinning around the pillars. May the force be with you!
  11. Let me start off by saying I am happy with this game and enjoy playing it, not having a toggle is in no way game breaking for me. This is more along the lines of pointing something out. Now back on topic, who else is sick of the excuse "its difficult to implement?" Because quite frankly, it's not. While not as graphically detailed as SWTOR, Dark Age of Camelot had the hood on/off toggle since it's release in 2001...for those not wanting to do the math, thats 11 years ago. As I stated before, yes SWTOR is running on a much higher graphic engine than DAOC was. However with the increase in technology, the human adaptation of this technology should of increased as well. Why is it that only 1 game to date has made this function possible? Before you ask, yes the hood on/off toggle also worked over top of helmets and no, colors do not make it more difficult because in DAOC you could also dye your armor including helmet to whatever color you wanted. This is just my 2 cents for what its worth, as stated I am enjoying the game. I would just like to hear a better answer from Bioware, thats all
  12. First off I want to welcome you to our ongoing thread. This is some great input, it isn't often we hear from focus sentinels. I was not aware focus actually has reliable higher damage aoe. Very good to know for those new sentinels looking to try focus for a change. Also you are very right about force camo , if timed right it can be the difference between life and death. There is no shame if you truly don't think you can win, pop force camo to place threat on your companion and run like the wind. Keep it going fellow sentinels, there is a lot of good info for any sentinel having difficulties. May the force be with you!
  13. For any players having issues as a Sentinel please refer to my quick and ongoing guide on the main Jedi Knight Forum to make your everyday life as a Sentinel easier. Please keep comments constructive and no flaming. This thread is intended to help improve the Sentinel players as a whole. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=283522 May the force be with you!
  14. Kira is the only companion I have ever used and will ever use and im a Sentinel. Shes a hot headed smart ***** with a heart. I would have to agree with others, her default customization is my favorite. It just seems more "jedi" like that the others, imo I would only consider changing her appearance if they added another customzation with the "jedi" pony tail look. Excellent post btw
  15. I dont know why I failed to address this earlier. Interupts are very key, yes. BUT in the situation you accidently used one at the wrong time and a mob starts a cast, there are many many objects around the world that can be used to LoS (Line of Sight) these casts. I.E. Large rocks, pillars, doors and sometimes starships But I honestly wouldnt result to this unless its an elite mob or your about to get force lightning in the face. Hope this helps and keep up the good input folks! May the force be with you!
  16. Beat him 1st try as a 32 Combat Sentinel. Other than interupts and timing your defensive cooldowns. The biggest improvement if your having trouble on class quests is to keep your mods up to date within 3-4 lvls of your character level. Just with your fully up to date blue modded saber hilt you will burn through things much quicker. May the force be with you!
  17. OP and Anyone else here agreeing with him, I plead for you to go read through the post I started regarding simple tricks and ideas that make your playing experience easier. It was mainly directed tward Sentinels but it has general ideas on how everyone should be focusing. Please refrain from flaming. Everyone seems to need help, I simply put ideas into words for troubled players. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=283522 May the force be with you!
  18. First of all, there is some great input in here keep it up! Also yes please if your going to reply to this post think of 2 things. 1) Be constructive/no flaming. 2) Try to stay on topic Here is another point I wanted to talk about. Stats. I know there has been alot of talk about survivabiliy, however I am a firm beleiver that picking up high endurance items over high strength items is not worth it. Mods are not the only thing you have the choice with. Some normal gear is balanced more around higher endurance vs higher strength. Personally unless I have no choice I always go for the higher amount of strength. I dont feel that the extra endurance and lower strength on an item helps my survivability. It "might" give you 1 extra swing before you die, but then again look at it this way...what if you had chosen the 3-4 higher strength items instead, would the mob already be dead? Lets move onto secondary stats, post your opinions on your choices and why. There isn't alot of theory crafting out there yet with in depth research on what is the better choice due to no combat logs. I personally like power as my first choice and surge as my 2nd. Yes there is info going around if you get your crit up to 30% that your blade storm will have a 100% chance to crit. Unfortunately just like rolling dice, even though in theory you have 100% crit, you will never crit 100% of the time. There is always that small chance the random number generator will, for lack of a better word "bone you". My reason behind Power: I would rather have increased sustained dps rather than rely on lady luck to smile down on me, because i'll be honest...she hates me My reason behind Surge: As previously stated crit wether you have 15% or 30% is a game of chance. I have personally had bad rounds where I get 1 crit during the entire duration of an Elite fight. I choose Surge so when the game chooses to grant me that luck I have been waiting for, that crit will be HUGE. I have not done alot of testing with accuracy yet because honestly I havent needed it during my course of leveling (Just hit 50 last night). If anyone has insight on Accuracy it would be a nice thing to post here for others who may be curious about the worth of this stat. There are alot of ways to increase your dps output but unfortunately due to the nature of medium armor and pure dps class, our survivabiliy will never get better. Thus why in my original post be sure to manage your defensive cooldowns, they are the survivability you so desperately want. Keep up the good work my fellow Sentinel's, we will rule the world some day May the Force be with you!
  19. Here is a quick guide I typed out at work for anyone having issues or trouble as a Sentinel. Dont pay attention to all the "this class sucks" or "our dps is weak" posts. I have been combat ever since I placed my first spec point. I tear through everything and have never died more than once on a class quest which most of the time I dont die at all. Sentinel is by no means weak compared to other classes, it's more or less the skill cap is much much higher and the average casual player will likely not excell at. If your looking for a faceroll button spam WoW style class, Sentinel isnt for you. The biggest key factor is gear, if your running around attempting to faceroll with all green's your doing something wrong. There are ample ways to get money and just completing all the quests on a planet will provide you with more than enough credits. Here is a list of things to live by if you want to survive as a solo Sentinel. -If for some extremely strange reason you are always low on funds, at least keep your lightsaber hilt modded close to your level. You are a dps class, your biggest upgrade will ALWAYS be your weapon damage. -If you dont have money to fully mod the rest of your gear, dont buy the rank 2 speeder traning unless you have a surplus of credits...210k for a little extra non combat speed? Lets be honest, dont be stupid. -Know your defensive cooldowns and when to use them. I personally have 4-5 if my companion is out and can nearly survive an apocalypse if timed right. -Interupt, Interupt, Interupt...did I mention Interupt? -Force choke and Awe (Whatever the 6s aoe blind is called). They are unbeleivable life savers on a fairly low CD all things considered. -On tough fights, always send your companion in first...it does not matter which one your using. Doc can take just as many swings as Kira can. The idea is to let your companion absorb the first set of initial "special" attacks the mobs will use. -ALWAYS kill the weakest mobs first, letting the 2 normal mobs with 2.5k health blast you in the back while that gold Elite with 28k takes time to kill isnt smart. Again, you are a pure dps class not a tank. This applies to player groups as well, please dont be the player hitting the boss the whole time while 3 elites are eating your healers mana up. -Know your offensive abilities and which ones are useful. Spamming Slash over and over again is weak and you will most likely die. This applies to groups as well, if your spamming slash...yes by all means you are going to look like a fool with low dmg. Blade storm in my current state is by far my hardest hitting attack and can often times 1 shot normal mobs. I'm sure there are a few more if i spent time thinking about it but im at work I will update as they come to me. I hope this helps anyone having trouble with the class. Keep at it, you will eventually learn and excell as a dps to compete and even do better than other dps classes. It will just take more time and effort than the other dps classes. Good luck and May the force be with you.
  20. Its not really that we "need" a knockback as a Sentinel. Its more along the lines of from an RP standpoint there is 0 reason we shouldnt have it. In all honesty ALL jedi should get some form of force push...other than weilding a lightsaber, force push is like the most known ability jedi's have.
