  1. I looked and cannot find this already reported. On live, when you push the "I" button on your keyboard, the inventory window comes up. When you press it again, the inventory window closes. On PTS, when you hit "I", the inventory window opens, but when you press the button again, it does not close the window. I had to click the little "x" in the upper right hand side of the window to close it. P.S. not UI related, but it would not allow me to put a weapon into the outfitter,
  2. Just watched the video that confirmed the free character transfers, but there wasn't much info on it. If someone knows a thread with more detailed info on it, that would be great. If not, then there are a few questions that I have. 1. Are they indeed free transfers to ANY server you want? 2. If you transfer to a server where you already have a toon with legacy unlocked, does the new toon become part of that legacy? 3. If you transfer to a new server where you have no toons or legacy, do you start at legacy 1 even if you had a high legacy level before you transfered? 4. Is there a way to transfer your entire legacy from one server to another? This includes all your characters and the legacy level/perks, etc ... As much credits as we are sinking into legacy stuff now and the new inheratance gear, I think these are valid questions.
  3. Orange gear will have the best stats in the game IF you take the mods out the BEST gear to put in them and add the BEST augments you can find. Obviously, you can't get optimal stats from columi or rakata mods because those are not the optimal gear.
  4. This is such a great idea. Closest thing to addons we have gotten so far .... lol.
  5. Items like this are the only in-game items that I would support being added as micro transactions. I bought the Celestial Steed that you referred to above. I loved it. It didn't do anything that any other readily availible in-game mount didn't do. It was just a cool looking thing that I thought was worth paying an extra $25 for. What I will not support is them offering tier gear or special stims that are better than the biochem ones but you can only get them from buying them from a store. Basically, anything in a micro transaction cannot have any effect on gameplay. It can't help your stats, make your cooldowns shorter, etc ....
  6. When I read the thread title, Cash Shops, I thought what a lot of people probably thought. That you wanted the stuff you pay for like in F2P games that directly have an impact on game play like items and abilities. What your talking about is like the paid character services in WOW. Thing like character transfers, renaming your toon, faction changes, etc ... I do feel that these services should have a small fee associated with them. Take character transfers for instance. If it were free to transfer a toon anywhere, then people would be transfering toons like crazy. The character recustomization should have a fee associated as well. It makes character creation mean a little more if it is more permanent. If you have to pay a fee to recustomize your character, then you will take more time to make good choices when you are first creating your character. Paid services are not BW "shooting themselves in the foot" as someone said earlier in this thread. The key is that the services that are paid CANNOT be anything that has any effect on gameplay. A server transfer has no effect on how your toon performs in the game. Changing your character's name, sex, or appearance has no effect on gameplay. Selling high end epic drop items or BoE item would have an effect on gameplay. See the difference?
  7. This should go into the suggestions area of the forums. It is a great idea. Put mod stations in only one place (somewhere that people don't normally hang out). Then remove the cost of removing mods when you use a mod station. That way people will only bother using it when the cost of removing the mods is very high (like removing mods from Rakata gear or something). You can use this as a perk for the legacy system too. Make a mod station unlockable for your ship at XX legacy level or for an obscene amount of credits. BW is all about the Legacy stuff right?
  8. There is a reason there were that many people on Korriban. EVERYONE had to start their toon from scratch. I bet there weren't that many people testing the new FP, Ops, warzone, or playing around with the legacy system. I bet there weren't that many people doing all of those things combined!!! I hope that after this patch get out and bugs get worked out, they will take a couple devs and have them implement the character copy / premade system like WOW has. We have toons that we already leveled on live. Most of us don't want to level the same class again to test out upcomming content. I assure you that there would be a lot more people testing on the PTS if character copy / premade were implemented. More people testing = larger sampling of data for the devs to judge how the content will hold up. It also gives them a better chance of discovering bugs and tuning issues with new content.
  9. I can understand why the original poster would like this server wide general chat feature. In a perfect world (one where everyone behaves and no one trolls or acts like a retard) I would be all for it too. But this is not a perfect world. Lets pretend for a second that it is a perfect world, and no trolls or idiots would be on general chat acting like morons. Here you are running missions on Corellia like a madman trying to get that last 300k XP to get your BH to level 50. You look up in General chat and see this: 1: [General][XXXXX] LFG Armed and Dangerous 1: [General][XXXXX] LFG Saving Face and Hadra's Defeat 1: [General][XXXXX] LFG Insufficient Staff ETC ... ETC ... ETC ... You are gonna be bombed by people talking about stuff that you really don't wanna read.
  10. If you are talking about REing a high end piece of raid gear, it better be 100%. Can you imagine REing a high level purple and getting nothing but some scavenging or archeology mats? You're gonna have some pissed off players. In WOW, disenchanting a purple was 100% chance to get the high end stuff. That is because it is so hard to get (or used to be) those items that it really wasn't practical to have to DE many of them to get what you need. If this is their solution, they at least need to make it 100% chance to get the schematic for the orange when you RE a purple.
  11. My original post is a very rough and basic idea. It is just to plant the seed into the mind of someone more creative with such things. I think the whole idea that the devs are wanting to push is the ability to make you character look the way you want and still be able to have the best stats you can get. This has been partially accomplished with the role orange gear is going to play in 1.2. They just forgot that many people like the way that the raid gear looks. This system is going to make it so that the raid gear LOOK will be passed over because you don't have the augment slot. Whether or not they go with the idea I proposed, I would still like to see a LOT more orange sets put into the game. In WOW, I would have the best gear that you could get for that patch/expansion, but I just didn't FEEL very epic when I looked like every other Paladin in Stormwind. This game has a very epic feel. The Sith Warrior story line (I won't give spoiler) made me feel like I was master of the universe. I just want them to give everyone the opportunity to feel almost like they are one-of-a-kind. After all, Vader didn't have to worry about anyone looking just like him!!!
  12. I do like this idea as well. Give the people that can't craft the orange gear or the Augments the schematic to make these like the Blacksmiths in WOW made the buckles. It would give even more viability to crafting. Great Idea!!!
  13. With the changes in 1.2, crit crafted orange gear will be superior to even the highest level of raid gear due to the augment slot. They say that they are doing this for two reasons. First, they want to make crafting a more viable part of the game. Second, they want people to be able to choose the appearance of their characters and avoid having all of the well geared players looking the same. As a long time player of WOW, that second reason is like a gift from God to me. Anyone who played the last 2 expansions of WOW knows what I am talking about. My solution is very simple. Get rid of all raid GEAR totally. Wait ... WHAT!!! Seriously. Do away with the raid gear drops. Put all the armoring/mod/enhancements that were in the gear on a vendor at the fleet. These items would take a token (kinda like the raid gear takes a token to buy now). When you would have normally gotten a gear token drop, now you would get a mod pack. This mod pack would have one each of Armoring Token, Mod Token, and Enhancement Token. You would then use these to buy whichever modifications that you want and put them into your orange gear. Each Tier of Ops would drop a new "level" or tokens. Take what we have no for example. We have Columi and Rakata. Normal mode raids drop Columi gear and HM drops Rakata gear. Imagine instead that you get a mod pack from a normal mode Ops. This pack, comming from normal mode, would give you a Columi Armoring Token when you open it along with the mod token and enhancment token. You could then buy the same mods that are in the Columi gear now. You would not be able to get the Rakata mods with them. For that, you would have to get a mod pack from a HM Ops which would give you a Rakata Token for Armoring/Mod/Enh. This is just an example for an illustration. Now, the devs that are in charge of designing new gear take all the time and energy that they put into designing raid gear skins and design more orange gear. They would be able to give us a lot more appearance options. You would have an easier time finding a unique look for your toon. The best part is that you do not have to sacrifice any stats to look the way you want. As it stands now, having raid gear and orange gear with orange being superior, if you like the look of that raid gear, you can't wear it if you want to get the absolute best stats. TL;DR - Get rid of traditional raid gear loot drops. Let tokens for raid level modifications drop from raid instead. Focus all that dev time spend designing raid gear on designing a lot of new orange gear looks.
  14. A simpler way to put it is this. Level a Sith Pureblood to 50 = now I can create a Sith Pureblood for any class/faction. Next I make a Cyborg and level to 50 = now I can make a cyborg for any class/faction. Make sense?
  15. Malavai Quinn at the end of chapter 2 of the class story line. I won't give anything away. Anyone that has played a Sith Warrior past the 2nd chapter knows EXACTLY what I am talking about.
  16. To be perfectly honest, I am happy with the change to valor. Before, you felt like you had to be on every day, and you had to sit in Ilum farming kills. This kept you from exploring, doing hard mode flash points, running ops, and just having fun with the game in general. Other MMOs have found that grinding is not fun and have adjusted their game accordingly. Your own example proves the point. It was more difficult in vanilla WOW to get PVP accolades. To be more to the point, it was longer not more difficult. It was an enormous grind. WOW changed that so that people could get their PVP stuff and still feel like they could go out and enjoy the rest of the game. TL;DR - People don't like to feel obligated to log in every day just to grind. Cause, you know, sometimes I just wanna dance naked on a mailbox EDIT - About the new tier of gear comming in 1.2. It is my understanding that it will be contengent on the new commendations that you get from running Rated WZs. I don't think I have seen anywhere that you will have to have a particular rank. I know that people will say, "Why even bother with the old Battlemaster stuff when you can go straight to the new stuff?" The answer is simple. If you don't have some good gear, YOU WON'T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST A PREMADE IN A RATED WARZONE!!! Enough said.
  17. I don't even care about FREE transfers. I would pay $10 per character to transfer my toons and another $10 to transfer my legacy. I would choose another name if mine was taken as long as my legacy level remained the same. Maybe even have a package deal to transfer my entire legacy with all toons from one server to another. I think that would be worth $50. It would be better than having to do what I am doing now. Starting from scratch on a high pop server. Running the same classes and professions that I already did once. That sucks way more than having to choose a new name for my legacy or toons cause they are already taken on the new server. Think about it.
  18. Blizzard at one time said this same thing until they decided that they could make money from name changes and re-customizations. I would expect those paid services to be introduced here in time. I don't think it will be anytime soon.
  19. While I do agree with this post on principle, I never want to have to grind faction rep again. At last not like we had to do it in WOW. Grinding to Battle Master is enough as it is. Maybe we could choose which "order" to serve and receive different gear, weapons, comp customizations, etc ... Maybe if you join the Green Jedi on Corellia you get gear that looks like theirs (modable of coarse).
  20. There were too many pages for me to go through and see of this had already been said so far. The origins of the colors are very SIMPLE and came right out of the mouth of George Lucas himself. The Red = Dark Side and Blue = Light Side was introduced simply so that viewers could distinguish the good guy from the bad guy in Episode IV & V. The first appearance of the green lights saber is in Episode VI. The origin of this is also very SIMPLE. Lucas said that the blue saber color did not look well in the Tatooine opening sequence. He made it green for the purpose of better contrast against the desert background so that it could be seen easier by people watching the film. The lore for this worked out well because Luke had lost his light saber at the end of Episode V and had to build a new one. Also, this whole "Ilum is the only place that you could get blue and green saber crystals" idea was a later concoction by fan fiction not George Lucas. Luke Skywalker never spoke to Yoda or spectral Obi Wan from the time he lost his light saber (and hand) at the end of Episode V until the time we see him using a green light saber at the beginning of episode VI. How would he have known about the existence of Ilum and the saber crystals there? All of his knowledge of the Jedi and their practices came from Obi Wan and Yoda, and we already established that they didn't tell him about Ilum. The whole thing boils down to the fact that George Lucas intended for blue/green to be light side only and red to be dark side only. He never even intended there to be ANY other colors than those 2. The only exception to that last sentence is the purple crystal, and he ONLY did that because Samuel L. Jackson requested to have a purple saber. The fact that we even have general use purple, orange, yellow, white, (red, blue, green, yellow)-black, and pink crystals means that this game has ALREADY deviated from the original lore that George Lucas intended. I know that hardcore RPers have the most problems with this. If you are that much into RP, I really don't see you having too much of an issue with creating a story as to why your light side character has a red saber. Perhaps your carebear Jedi Guardian killed a Sith Lord, and he found that the Sith's saber was more powerful than his own so he traded up. Perhaps your dark side human inquisitor was assigned to infiltrate a Republic installation, so she killed a Jedi and took his green light saber so that she wouldn't draw suspicion. The point here is that the lore has already deviated so far from what George Lucas intended that there really is no need to be so rigid with the color restrictions anymore. Relax your sphinctor, stop trying to control the game for everyone else, and just have some fun.
  21. Things that Yoda would say in bed: "You like the little green thing don't you?" "Bend over and show me your dark side." "Feel the force!!!!"
  22. The OP has a point. BW specifically said that you could choose to be LS, DS, or remain neutral and there would be rewards for whatever you choose. The Neutral people got shafted. There is a couple of toons that I would have like to go neutral with, but I chose a side and stuck with it because I felt like I had to in order to do endgame. I would have like to make different choices in some of the storyline, but I felt like I had to stick with my alignment.
  23. ^This^ I agree. You make a good point. We are out of balance. Bioware needs Anakin Skywalker. The one who will bring balance.
  24. The whole point of a subscription base gaming model is that everyone gets the same ability with the same subscription fee. How would you feel if you were new to the gaming community and decided to play SWTOR. You pay for the game and set up a sub. You start playing thinking that you have the same potential as everyone else. All you have to do is learn the game, practice, and improve. Then you find out that there are these peripherals out there that can give you the ability to do things in game that you can't do otherwise. You are like "cool, how can I get these abilities". Then you find out that you have to go pay a bunch of extra money for these peripherals or you won't be able to do the same things as these other people. It is not vary fair, and sub based MMOs are all about fairness, balance, and skill. It is not about, "I have less skill than you so I will go buy some stuff and have an advantage over you." That is a F2P model. In a sub based model, either everyone has an ability or no one has it. It is that simple.
  25. I do agree that a server merge is needed, but we need to look at WHY a merge is needed. When this game launched, there were so many toons. They opened up a bunch of servers. They increased the cap on all the servers, and there was still an hour or more login queue. EVERY server was high or full population. Now look at it. My server (Veela) had a 3 hour queue at one point when the game first lauched. There were hundreds of people at the fleet looking for FPs, and there were so many people on each planet running missions that there were 2,3 or even 4 instances. Now, during peak times the population is listed as low, there are 50-70 people at fleet if you are lucky, and no more than 30 on any planet that I visit. I don't know what has caused this, but I am sure that there are multiple reasons. They do need to do a merge to salvage this game, but it is a temporary fix. They have to find out what caused the massive depopulation and fix it or we will end up with the same problem in a few months on the freshly merged servers.
