  1. they would say its 2011 not 2004.. and i would say they are right to argue that. saying WoW didnt have it at launch really isnt a valid response. especially in this particular case.
  2. i understand i can force AA through my vid card drivers on my system.. the point is, i shouldnt have to.. its 2011. its bioware and EA. its the biggest MMO launch of all time.. if they cant even get this into the game.. one of the most basic graphics features out there.. how can i defend the longevity of the game. most of my friends are skeptics and WoW fanboys.. these kinds of things only gives them more ammunition to throw at me. and for those that say the 20th is launch day.. for one: This is a big day for us; we are launching Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, BioWare’s largest and most ambitious project to date... http://www.swtor.com/blog/welcome-star-wars-old-republic secondly: will our characters get wiped at that time? will we have to start over? nope.. so yeah, the game is launched. is this something that will make me quit? nope.. but its just one of the many things i have to scratch my head at: removing the grace period less than a week before EGA/launch not removing companion crew skill bonuses when they said they would only 4 days of open (well.. semi-open) beta no UI customization at launch a lack of ANY kind of same server LFG system (sorry scrolling through a chat/who window doesnt count) no AA
  3. why were they not taken out as originally planned? 9:07p - Q: How are you going to balance the fact that there are differences with companions with bonuses for crafting as one class versus another class? And are there neutral companions that anyone on the Republic or Empire can go get? 9:07p - DE: We realized that was a dumb feature and cut it. So crafting bonuses, I believe, are well on the way out. Everybody had the same response to that one, which was we really don't want to do anything that is going to stop you from using a companion. If I've got a companion with me who happens to be my favorite companion and happens to be the guy with the biggest bonus towards the mission skill that I use for crafting, so I don't use him. That is fail. That's the first part of the question, the second part (about neutral companions) is, kinda. And, plus, there are some secrets. http://www.darthhater.com/articles/swtor-news/16471-pax-prime-developer-meet-greet-live-blog
  4. i understand (and accept) what SR is saying.. HOWEVER, i do believe that the best thing bioware could have done was the following: ...add a lot of servers early on, and then when population decreases, have to close those servers and merge them together. they may have said its a 'recipe for failure'.. however, i think blizzard would like to talk with you.. since, you know it has the most successful MMO to date, and they did exactly this. it would have solved so many issues.. just my 2 cents.
  5. 1 Star Wars: The Old Republic 939,358 from VGAChartz.com: http://www.vgchartz.com/charts/preorders.php
  6. every time i install a video game. and so do you.. dont kid yourself. regardless, it wasnt in fine print, so i agree.. bioware didnt hide anything.. there was an FAQ, dev post, and it was also in the advertisement..
  7. its been in the pre-order FAQ in one form or another since the beginning.. how many times did you hear "CE players should get first priority regarding EGA" and the response to the above was always "The length of your Early Game Access period will vary and depend on the order in which your Pre-Order Code was redeemed." i dont know why this is so hard for people to understand. and im not a fanboy trust me.. if my post history was available, you'd see that loud and clear lol. EDIT: figures.. the guy above me beat me to the punch
  8. bioware seems to have disagreed with you.. This is a big day for us; we are launching Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, BioWare’s largest and most ambitious project to date, and we’re very proud that you’ve been able to join us. It’s an honor to be able to share this game with you. http://www.swtor.com/blog/welcome-star-wars-old-republic i do agree that the complaints regarding EGA are unwarranted (with the exception of the grace period fiasco)... the info regarding staggered access has been there FROM DAY ONE. however, this is launch day.. make no mistake about that.
  9. and the only real issues seem to be 'waaahh.. i dont have EGA yetz!' how bout them apples??
  10. i agree that all this EGA whining is a bit ridiculous.. that being said.. this is also a VIDEO GAME FORUM.. one focused on TOR nonetheless.. and on BIOWARE's site.. so its logical to assume that a lot of stuff you are going to see is related to them and TOR. people dont come here to talk politics and the real world.. they come here to talk about the game and provide feedback to bioware/EA.. be it positive or negative. so everyone(not just OP).. stop with the real world arguments please.. there are venues to talk about those kind of things.. this isnt one of them.
  11. im no bioware apologist.. but come on guys.. these threads are rediculous.. this information has been out there pretty much from the beginning.. the only things that have changed is the amount of days, and the removal of a grace period. if you didnt see this staggered early release coming by now, i dont know what to tell you.
  12. riiighht.. because there isnt a 2:1 empire to republic ratio on a lot of pvp servers.. oh wait there is. that being said, the server imbalance is nothing new.. luckily though, the starting planes and capital world are considered 'safe zones'. glad i went PVE
  13. bioware has said this.. pretty much from the beginning.. that early access would be staggered.. this is nothing new. they feel by doing this it will minimize queue times and server lag. we shall see. based on the forum posts, so far so good.
  14. the waves will only hurt if there are major hiccups during early access (i.e queues over an hour long, lots of server lag, crashes, extended maintenance, etc). it would show they werent necessary. if everything goes well, only the vocal minority will care.
