  1. i dont really do youtube that much... maybe at some point i will post one.. but ill issue you a challenge so you can see for yourself. try afking the boss fights in chapter 8. no enhancements.. no nothing. again, if i was a betting man (im not).. id bet 500 cartel coins you could literally sit there afk against ANY of the story bosses in chapter 8.. even the main "villain". to take them down. yes, you might actually have to press a couple buttons on the keyboard.. but thats only because your companion is healing and not attacking. again, i got no issues with content being easy. but there is a difference between easy, and requiring little to no effort at all.
  2. why play a video game if literally the only effort required is to load the game. what's the point? also, by definition, a video game is this: a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck. when "skill, strength, or luck" become irrelevant.. whats the point?
  3. most of the 1-50 content pre-4.0 was pretty simple. make no mistake. that said, there were always at least 1 or 2 class bosses, and a few bosses during the world arcs that required you to know what an interrupt was if you didnt min/max.. the boss in the jedi temple for consular at launch required a bit of effort, one of the bosses on the voss world arc was pretty tough, the last boss for the SI storyline, the jedi boss for smuggler, etc.. obviously if you min/maxed both your character and companion, im sure the bosses i mentioned were easier.. but even then, i highly doubt you could AFK them. the point is.. now you can.
  4. i just went through a perfect example to illustrate this.. i was on taris and going through my bounty hunter story. the only legacy unlocks i have are the character buffs (which existed pre 4.0) and the ability to travel to my starship. THATS IT. as for gear, ive only put on what ive gotten from quests.. havent used a lick of gear courrency.. keep in mind i used to do that pre 4.0. the only additional buff i have is the experience buff you get from the cartel consumables and leveling.. it should be noted ive only used ONE cartel consumable.. otherwise, its just been the leveling experience consumable you get from completing quests. im level 38 and the champion was 33,which, yes, makes the mobs green in level. anyway.. thats my setup. on taris there is this champion robot that patrols a small area with a bunch of silver mobs. you basically have to go at least near that area to get to one of the missions. i decided to fight through it. normally when i do this, i have to avoid the champion and be careful as i kill the rest of the mobs. this time i decided to let the champion come towards me and attack. it eventually did. i kept killing all the silver mobs and attacking the champion level robot. i killed them all. my health NEVER got below halfway and in fact was nearly topped out the entire time. that encounter required zero effort whatsoever. and you can dismiss this because the mob was green in level.. but i promise u.. if it were yellow.. it would have been no different. pre 4.0.. it wouldnt have mattered if the mob was 5 levels below me and green.. there would have been no way i could have taken that group of mobs along with the champion and not gotten below half health.. especially if i wasnt geared (which im not in this case). now, you could be equal level and not break a sweat. thats what im upset about. there is a difference between "easy" and AFK easy. the game has become AFK easy. again, it shouldnt matter what role you set your companion to. it should still take at least a little bit of skill to play. with a healer companion, skill is no longer a requirement.
  5. glad to see there are a couple people with some sense. again, i understand the 1-50 content used to be easy. but it wasnt AFK easy. and as you and a couple of others have stated.. it IS that easy now.
  6. the problem is.. since 4.0.. you can go to another server.. use ZERO gear currency or legacy unlocks.. and if you set your companion to healer.. you can literally go AFK and let your companion play the game for you. thats not an exaggeration.. ive done it. and as others have said.. i shouldnt have to gimp myself or set my companion to a different role. ALL companion roles should be balanced to the point where the game is still fun and at least requires you to try. right now, thats not the case with a healer companion.
  7. if you have a healer companion.. i challenge you to do this: engage a boss mob with a healer companion summoned. do nothing. see how long you stay at full health. if i was a betting man, i would wager 500 cartel coins your companion alone would down the boss. im honestly considering doing this myself the next time i come across one. as for pre 4.0.. again.. IM NOT DISAGREEING that the 1-50 content was easy pre 4.0.. it was. but most of the classes had a few bosses that at least required you to pay attention. EVEN WITH a healer companion. you can deny it all you want.. but that is no longer the case with a healer companion. if you cant see that, you need to take off your bioware fanboy glasses. sorry, but truth hurts. edit: i was just doing some story missions on tarus. yes, the mobs were green in level (4-5 levels below).. but the mobs had almost no effect. below is what i did: mako was summoned the mobs were green in level. engaged an elite rankhor (the elite was 4 levels lower and green in level). did nothing else. result: i stayed topped off on health. mako stayed nearly topped off on health. she killed the elite single handedly. i engaged other rankhor mobs in the area which actually took a small amount of Mako's health. result: she basically just sat there healing herself for literally 10 minutes . eventually i ended the combat. again, i understand i was 4-5 levels higher... im not expecting any challenge. that said.. i also shouldnt be able to just sit there doing NOTHING. i was essentially AFK and mako took out an elite mob BY HERSELF. and you can discard this by saying the mobs were green.. but i NEVER came across a green mob pre fallen/ pre shadow of reven.. where i could literally go AFK.
  8. ok. fair point lol.. now... thats pretty much the whole game. again.. i dont mind if the story content is easy.. but they didnt need to make the gameplay non-existent simply because i am using a healer companion.
  9. ive played the game since launch.. and ive used healer companions before as well. back then, yes, most of the story content was fairly easy.. HOWEVER, there were always 2 or 3 bosses that were really challenging EVEN IF you had a healer companion.. granted i dont go out of my way to gear my companions (only used what i found or what i could get through currency..but the bosses were at least challenging. now, if AFK was disabled, i could engage combat with a boss, leave and go watch episode vii, come back, and i'd be at full health and the "boss" defeated. that was NEVER the case before.
  10. yes, i realize if i want a challenge.. make my companion a tank or damage dealer.. but it should be said.. the healing companion pretty much makes you unkillable at levels 1-50. i dont mind the content "easy".. but i do mind that the bosses pretty much become irrelevant and no different than the common mob. at least make failure a possibility. is that really too much to ask. btw, healer also makes gear pretty much irrelevant as well. edit - putting this here as well to emphasize the point: ive played the game since launch.. and ive used healer companions before as well. back then, yes, most of the story content was fairly easy.. HOWEVER, there were always 2 or 3 bosses that were really challenging EVEN IF you had a healer companion.. now, if AFK was disabled, i could engage combat with a boss, leave and go watch episode vii, come back, and i'd be at full health and the "boss" defeated. that was NEVER the case before... with the exception of the instance content of shadow of reven.
  11. sorry, im not buying Bioware's excuse that class stories are to time consuming and expensive.. why? its real easy: create a planet with a world arc create one unique quest chain for each class - i.e. create 1 or two quests unique to each class per zone.. similar to how the class quests are done now. DONE. seems pretty strait forward to me.
  12. Esseles and BT dont require a healer from what i remember. in fact i think you can two man it for the most part, though its prob recommended one of the companions is healer. thats the way it used to be run before group finder.
  13. just replayed kotor 1 again.. havent played it in a LONG time. great game obviously. how great would it be if Bioware made some of the original armor suits from that game.. like the original sith soldier suit, the calo nord suit, the sith warrior battle armor seen on the star forge, etc. and how great would it be if they made this RAID armor and pvp armor. NOT cartel market armor. you would actually have to play the game to get the skins! novel concept i know.. but IMO, its something they could do to get more people into the game.
  14. what fanboys seem to overlook is people dont "complain" because we hate bioware. we just want good content.. and this patch is exactly what most of us are calling for. its amazing.. when bioware puts out "content" we dont want.. they get called out.. but when they actually release content up to the standard we KNOW they can produce.. they get praised. funny how that works.
  15. if they focused on what they do best - i.e. class story content and FPs like black talon, this game could be great.. content like that is what sets them apart from the competition. unfortunately i think they are focusing a bit too much on the CM. that being said, the Czerka FPs look interesting and i am looking forward to those. so that's at least a start. also, please stop with the rehashing of OPs.. just give us the difficulty levels from the start and actually release NEW OPs instead of spending the time to rehash old ones.
  16. i get what you guys are saying.. but im not talking about "role playing". im talking about continuing a story arc, (a pretty important one i might add) that bioware themselves created. i get that they cant design each and every quest in the game around each individual SI. but what they CAN do is continue to develop the class storylines, and design those particular quest arcs around your specific character and the choices you have made during your adventures. the tech is there. in fact, they did that just fine with the 1-50 content.. why cant they continue that with future expansions. isnt that what they originally advertised? also, isnt this the story and lore section of the forum? and arent we talking about a bioware game that was supposed to epitomize everything bioware was supposed to be about.. good character development and storytelling? i think they accomplished that with the level 1-50 content and the SI storyline in particular.. i just find it funny that people arent upset that this isnt going to be continued going forward. yes, i understand that they can make an expansion with a good overall story arc.. all i am asking is that they carry over the class stories as well.
  17. so i just finished the SI story for the first time. yeah, i know its a little late.. but this is my 3rd character at 50 and i have another on its way to 47. anyway, i enjoyed the SI storyline quite a bit, with the exception of the ending - i.e: you become a dark council member. why is this bad? its insignificant in the world of the MMO. its already been said that class story content will most likely not be addressed in the future.. so the odds of SIs actually getting a quest line regarding them being a part of the dark council in the future is pretty small.. yes, its POSSIBLE they may come back to it.. but for now, its not happening. also, i get that NPCs might mention you being a member in a couple of one liners here and there.. but in the end, you being a dark council member has ZERO affect on the outcome of the quest you are on or the story. you mind as well be be an employee of Czerka Corp, an imperial agent, or a bounty hunter.. plot wise it doesnt matter. also, just take a look at the amount of max level SIs on your server.. thats A LOT of dark council members lol. kinda diminishes the importance of the role doesnt it? now, yes, i understand.. this is a game and an MMO. but if they continued the class story.. they could have easily thrown in a quest line or two that was related to the dark council and was tailored to the choices you have made throughout your adventures.. to me, this kind of thing is how bioware could have set themselves apart from the competition. also, when swtor was being developed, this is the feature i was most excited about. im just afraid we will never get to see that part of the game again.. which is sad because, IMO, its the best part of the game.
  18. this. i would also add, when there is a patch it should be less cartel market "content" and more flashpoints and quest hubs.
  19. i think most of us just want to earn the "cool" armor from raids and pvp. IMO, the best armor, both looks and stats wise, should be earned from doing the hardest pvp and pve content in the game. keep the convenience items, services, and stuff like that on there... but the best looking armor should be earned in game via pvp and raiding.
  20. this topic has been argued to death.. and in the sea of opinions on this issue.. i am on the side of the AC changers.. unfortunately, the comparison i have to make is with WoW.. but in this case i feel its relevant. I havent played that much since the release of cata.. but the classes back then i feel help illustrate my point the best anyway.. lets take a look at pallies: ret played way different than prot prot played way different than holy yet players could switch to what they wanted on the fly. for priests: disc/holy priest played way different than shadow. yet players could switch at will for rogue subtly played way different than combat. assassination played different than subtly or combat.. and again..players could switch at will. point is.. the classes played differently depending on spec, as they do in TOR. i see no reason why players in TOR should be handicapped in choosing how they play their base class. i dont care if they are level 10 or 55. as for the pay to win argument.. imo, if they do this. it should be an in game cost ONLY. make it part of the dual spec system. that way the pay to win argument is moot. everyone will have access to it. again, i know im in the minority here (at least on this forum).. but i dont see a problem with AC change. sorry i dont. i got no issue with those that do. just give players like myself the same respect in return.
  21. this is a forum about a star wars video game.. get over yourself already
  22. this may be a stupid question.. but what about rested xp. i see the cartel xp packs being added in.. but not rested xp, which, if understand correctly, is NOT given to preferred/f2p players (hence why i sub). wouldnt the rested xp factor in as well?
  23. the only thing that was added in the xpac was scum and villainy. that was my point. also, i dont consider difficulty levels content.
  24. a couple of responses: i choose to subscribe for the following reasons: rested xp. i dont have to deal with the artifact gear unlock. medical probes unlimited credit cap regarding the price.. i guess you missed where i said new and returning players pay $10 for the xpac, plus the cost of the sub, which at minimum is $14.99. obviously current subscribers get the xpac for $10. but NEW AND RETURNING PLAYERS DONT. that was my point.
  25. no NEW flashpoints. not rehashed heroics, but true NEW FPs. also, i would like to see more FPs and operations that were story driven like Esseless/BT and the Reven FP series. if we had more multiplayer content like that, people would have a reason to stay once they reach 55. currently, i dont. im still a subscriber because i am finishing up my class stories. i also need to run through Cartel on empire. but once that is done i have ZERO motivation to renew my sub. the other problem i have is crafting. the only benefits ive seen for crafting are stat boosts and gearing alts. no real effort has been put in to make crafting INTERESTING. especially since the cartel market. which brings me to my final problem with the game. the best looking gear comes from the market. there is ZERO reason to raid or pvp beyond progression. the raid/pvp gear looks like crap, and the best looking sets you can just buy with credits.. assuming they are even on the GTN.. and if the gear isnt on the GTN on your particular server... well its off to buying cartel (booster) packs. IMO, i think bioware is double dipping here. we already pay a subscription, and the amount of cartel coins you get from the monthly allowance for being a subscriber is laughable. thus, a lot of subscribers end up paying extra money out of pocket anyway for the gear they actually want. IMO, as a subscriber, you should be able to get any one of the cartel market suits by raiding, pvp, or by doing level 55 FPs. you would earn more gear currency from doing Operations or premade pvp matches (basically ranked warzones).. but you could still get the gear by doing the level 55 FPs (the HM daily) or PUG pvp.. it would just take longer. Imagine.. you could get the best looking gear buy actually playing the game. and not just through monotonous solo dailies. but by actually doing the multiplayer content. what a novel concept. finally, to the community.. the cartel "expansion" is $20. let me repeat that.. THE CARTEL EXPANSION IS $20.. NOT $10.. $10 is the DISCOUNTED RATE only if you subscribe. if you are new or returning player.. yes, it could cost you $10 for the expansion.. but that assumes you sub which at the minimum is an ADDITIONAL $15. so stop with the "the xpac is only $10" argument please.
