  6. Honestly you're just accentuating the fact that you're a mediocre player. How about you post up screen shots of some of your games and show up your dps?
  7. For 99% of regular warzones this is complete BS, the average merc/sniper/mara is not near immortal by any means. Good mercs, snipers, and marauders may seem to be immortal but they're actually extremely rare, average players on these classes without support (tanks/healers/peels) are generally able to be solo'd if you are an above average player.... and honestly most people are not even "good" at this point. The largest issue that I see when I solo queue regs (which is most of the time) is: A: Matchmaking - 99% of warzone imbalances come from matchmaking (or the lack of...( B: You're generally grouped with mediocre players who try-hard objectives, can't pull numbers, attack the wrong targets (focus a tank while a healer is free casting, push deep into enemy lines to attack a ranged dps while your healer is getting gang banged by the enemy melee train, etc, etc), don't cc, don't interrupt, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc It's been said 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times on these forums, we need matchmaking Even simple matchmaking would improve regular pvp 100 fold, if they could step up in include some form of hidden elo... well, that's probably way beyond a pipe dream. TLDR: Stop complaining about class/role balance and start demanding matchmaking!
  8. 5 years and people are still complaining about healers and tanks when most dps struggle to pull more than 1k dps and when they see someone pull 2-3-4-5x their dps they think the person is either hacking or just a "damage farmer...' 99% of complaints about healers and tanks boil down to one of two issues: 1: No matchmaking 2: Most people suck as dps BTW the only spec that has had a significant enough dps nerf to really warrant complaining is deception/infil, the anni/arsenal/carnage/leth(lol)/mm nerfs are nothing compared to the healing nerfs.

    How to fix OPG?

    Just make killing anyone grant points, killing a defender grant 2-3x points, and taking a node from someone else grant a large amount points. PvP should always promote actually pvping. P.S. reduce the amount of nodes so that people spend less time running around and more time fighting.
  10. The combat in swtor is different from wow, I personally like both and find them both fun in their own way. Wow pvp, at least arena, is really fun if you are playing with an organized group but it's pick up/larger scale pvp is aids. Swtor is much more fun for casual pvp and it's arena system offers an interesting spin with the inclusion of tanks and the resolve system. Pillar humping and countering cc can feel rewarding, but pressing buttons and pushing your hps/dps/prot as far as possible is just as/more fun. I like both and am glad that they are different.

People don't understand how much would have to change to make 2vs2 and 3vs3 viable in swtor. 2vs2 and 3vs3 work in wow because cc and tanks work differently in wow: Tanks are generally not viable in arena There is no guard Healers are usually strong and generally you can't just mongo kill someone through a free casting healer* Soft CC has no cooldown and there is no resolve system Everyone has to peel (usually through cc and kicks) LOS plays a much larger role in wow arena, but arenas are also built around this concept *Generally the community considers a comp overpowered if it can simply run in and kill someone without proper healer control (such as ret/hunter)

  14. Yes, let's make this game even more 1 dimensional... Off healing, taunting, peeling tools, etc... these are the things that make mmo pvp interesting, if you want one dimensional pvp why are you playing an MMO? Bring back stances Increase rotational complexity decrease derp damage from tanks (tanks should be able to do damage, but not as easily as they can currently) trim back on rotational roots/snares, then trim down the mobility buffs that every class has received; cc and anti-cc needs to tactical, not herp-a-derp I pressed a dps button and slowed you by 70% then you press one of your 10 zillion mobility buffs.

Well, hopefully they would rejoice that they could play all of their alts without having to go through the boring and completely pointless grind... as someone who is literally an earpiece away from my first full 248 character I would personally be more than happy to watch all of my "work" vanish in exchange for being able to log into any of my numerous alts on 3 servers and play them.
  17. You're literally arguing semantics. Back in beginning of the game when someone stance swapped to guard we called them skank tanks, tanks who used dps gear (or a combination of dps and tank gear) were simply tanks. There is no hard and fast definition for a skank tank, it's simply a descriptor used by this specific community.
  18. I didn't read your entire post (could you work on shortening your responses???) but the highlighted part is simply not true, all tank ACs could stance swap to use guard prior to 5.0. The difference between pre and post 5.0 is the opportunity cost of guarding; prior to 5.0 you had to waste gcds , dump energy, and lose any stance specific buffs/procs to use guard, now you simply use a gcd and keep trucking.
  19. You ignored 99% of my post, but as an East Coast player the best team I faced was <Casual> and Liege was essentially an extra dps on their team.
  20. What does tank tunnel have to do with hard swap? You never brought up tank tunnel, you specifically said that hard swap countered skank tanks: Tank survivalability is important vs tank tunnel. Tank survivalability is not an issue vs hard swap. Edit: Also, Gladius had good guard swaps but his dps as a tank was never extremely high, I wouldn't classify him as a skank.
  21. Teams have been running "skank tanks" (this is a misnomer btw, since it originally referred to dps specs stance swapping to guard) since ranked 8vs8. Hard swap comps don't counter skank tanks, hard swaps comps are designed to counter guard by preventing the tank from guarding your target through the effective use of cc and short burst windows; hard swap doesn't care what kind of gear your tank is using but dps geared tanks are actually more effective vs hard swap since your tank survival isn't an issue. If you're Yoda I guess I'm Darth Sidious; perhaps you'll withdraw from the forums and hide on Dagobah after losing this encounter.
  22. I mentioned 4's because it's the only game mode with matchmaking. Regs and solo ranked have too many variables that are beyond our control. Tank gear isn't going to matter in regs if you are vs 8 amazing players, they will melt you regardless, and tank gear isn't going to matter in regs if you're vs 8 *******s, they won't kill you regardless. If you're not running 4's who even cares what you play or how you gear, regs are a complete **** show due to gear disparity, skill/experience disparity, and zero matchmaking.

Mitigation stats are not going to keep you alive much longer than running pure dps stats, and with your lower damage your enemies are going to have more up-time and be under less pressure...that's the basic issue with your thought process. Queue 4's with your full mitigation tank and stream it so that we can all see how well that works for you. Edit: A fully geared guardian tank can hit for ~28-30k on a guardian slash + more damage from repost... sins can hit 8k ticks on DV(32k over the channel), firestorm crits for 20k... tank burst is real and tank sustained dps is extremely noticeable (good tanks in dps gear can easily push 5k+).
  24. Good tanks in pvp have always wore dps gear, a mix of dps and tank gear, or kept multiple sets... It's always amazing to watch someone make a post to prove that they "know what they're talking about" and in that very same post highlight how ignorant, naive, or in-experienced they are. Edit: Maybe you're simply not aware of how useless tank stats are now... prior to 3.0 there were actual trade-offs between using mitigation stats and dps stats, but that really has not been the case since 3.0 and the inflated stat budgets available in pvp make that even more true now.
