  1. even before you get the boost talents for it, its stil handy when **** hits the fan and your oof. Ive had other sorcs in the group throw me a heal or two when im consuming. Ends up being well worth it.
  2. yup yup the only time I try to keep people topped off is for boss fights where random big damage can come out of nowhere like the last boss in Athiss. In that fight a try to keep very one with barrier and as near the top hp as possible. Its a little easier since the tanks seem to not take as much damage in that fight.
  3. your healing ability can be diminished quite a lot of by stupid groups. If everyone runs to read circle with the blinking bomb and takes a hit over and over, your going to hurt as the healer. Triage is the best way to look at it, idiot dps keeps standing in the red circle of death then let me him have it and move on, he can just run back in. Barrier is your friend of friends. Use it as a heal...some nontank is getting low throw barrier on them and resurgence then use force bending (if you have it) proc to get 2 fast dark infusions off on the tank ( yes you can get two off on the same proc if your fast). Once you get force bending and the decrease in cost and cd for barrier it becomes gravy.
  4. love my sorcs and if your play is boring then your prolly doing something wrong. As a healer for groups I shine. I can CC, heal great and do a little dps in fights, far from boring to me. Yeah everything is lightning, it was to be expected within the SW lore. And im not even a big SW fan and knew that coming in. Having a blast in pvp as well. I can keep a team up, kill people and still run with the hut ball, not much more I can ask for really. This is the first healing class out of any mmo since EQ that ive played that will be my main and not some discarded alt.
  5. Its prolly a purple cloud thingy he does since im pretty sure the fire would be quite noticeable since the boss disappears for a short time while this is going on. Ive noticed the tank doesn't take much damage on this fight so you can bubble the dps or target the boss and interrupt it if the others arent. You CAN heal through this if you have force bending and thats what I did. I thought the fire was more of a hassle than the other ability.
  6. From what ive seen up to level 23 Ive spent all points into the healing tree current build here http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GG0RZz.1 and have no real troubles leveling or healing FPs or heroic 4. A lot of it will come down to your group skill level. If you have 2 dps that just want to do maddps in groups with their aoes without regard of the tank or the healer then your going to be hurting. Let them die you and the tank alone can handle most boss encounters up to my current level. Test dark heal speed vs force regen and see how fast you can cast this while keeping close to your mana regen levels. This was one of the first things I did to figure out which heal was more efficient. The bigger heal is the way to go since its nearly the same force cost as the fast one. This stays true ill you get force bending which makes the fast one nearly free which I use usually to top off dps or myself. Consumption needs to be looked at, its not the worse form of this type ability ive seen but seems to need help. I consumption 3 times (depending if im topped off), hot myself and use the fast cast big heal to use a the force bending to your advantage. Then use the hot to continually top yourself off till full and use the speed of the big heal throughout the fight. Leveling seems way easier. Ive leveled an assassin to 33 and it was a lot more difficult than it has been as a healer. You MUST KEEP KHEM GEARED, if you do that it will be all good. Also learn to control Khem and who he attacks and when. PLay him like a character and not a pet to keep agro on him. I play him as a tank or dps, depends on the situation. So far I haven't had any problems what so ever. So far the class/spec has been more about management than just going all out. Manage your pet, manage your force and you win. Barrier is key and only for the tank in most scenarios. Hammer station first boss is the only real time I use it on non tanks because when others get targeted by the laser, if they are low level that can take a chunk off of a toon.
  7. I dont think mods sell that well at lower levels because of how fast people blow through the levels on the low end. IMO sell your left over materials once you level passed them and just RE the stuff you make unless you get something ultra rare ect. Didnt think about selling the ship mods Ill have to try and see if I can get those out there.
  8. dont drop the crappy will one over str I dont know the exact numbers of how much will power effects your toon over str but if you look closely you gain 4 will and about 1 str every level so that should give you a clue. so if you have an 11will shield I wouldn't trade it unless I got near a 44str shield. Which is very big jump. But this is just me. Are their orange shields that can be modded? I havent really looked because if you guys can make those it will make a world of difference for us shadow tanks and cybertechs.
  9. Ive got the rank two ship upgrades but from what ive seen we may just get some because ive seen the rank 3s on a vendor
  10. well they are theory crafting because they have to not only find out the game mechanics of the fight but find a way to circumvent it. It takes time, sometimes a lot, but it does take a lot of thinking and skill in a collaborative effort. Ill never down these guys on the very top end because ive been there and done that.
  11. well here is the deal, top raiding guilds are not just after the kill but to be the first to kill it. Im not saying you, but a lot of people forget all the raid strats that they read and duplicate to down said boss were created by these top guilds. They are playing to not only kill the guys but in competition with other guilds so it is a little different on the hard core guilds
  12. Now see Ill disagree with you right there. All people should enjoy the game and the way a guild runs is the way it runs, you as a player have a CHOICE not to join ect. But when that attitude permeates the community as a whole then you have a problem. And I feel, right or wrong, that dmg meters and addons of this sort allows people that have NO BUSINESS acting that way to do so.
  13. see now your just being silly, you do know most of the players that make up some of the TOP guilds across games were created in EQ and I believe DAOC well before wow? Please tell you knew that. Sigh
  14. again thats fine ( your sarcasm being overlooked) but that comes from logs and a parser. I Dont really care if the top guilds want that because being in one myself years ago, I know sacrifices are expected for the guild. BUT, i do not want the entire community to act as a top guild, which dmg meters tend to allow people to do. If you CHOOSE a top guild then you pay whatever price that want. But If i join soandsos group in a pug or something people should not judge anyone with a dmg parser as though they WERE A TOP GUILD.
  15. its posted a couple pages back I aint rewriting it
  16. I said nothing about JUST ENRAGE timer I said game mechanic, which could be anything but specificaly if you dont kill this guy by x amount of time then your dead. Ie Dots, spawns, tank finger cramp.
  17. and such is their prerogative and right, especially in a hard core guild but im attempting to iterate here there are other ways in weeding those guys out
  18. I didnt say you didnt and i also said i havent looked that far down the road. But my argument still stands
  19. Dmg matters in those ONLY when raid mechanincs dictate that you have to kill this guy by a certain time or the raid will get face planted. I know I do not know if the raids in this game have this mechanic or not. Not even looking that far down the road. If there is then you might have a small argument or you could, as a guild get better and every look at their gear and strat to come up with a better solution than looking at the guy thats missed drops the last few times and is lagging on heals or dps.
  20. Oh man this discussion is crazy for every new friggin game to come out since WOW. Firstly, you do not NEED damage meters at all. Its been done in other games. I think parsers are fine and leave on the onus of the player to modify his style/rotation/skill level to help the betterment of the guild and not to some over zealous "pro" guild leader that wants to be the top dog in a game because he fails at life. I was in a progression guild once upon a time in EQ, Dakor on Emarr if your wondering, and it was great when I had no life outside of the digital world Verant had created. It was treated as a job with nearly 40 hours if not more a week put in to level, gear and figure out the newest boss fights. Even before parsers came out for EQ. OMG will killed crap without meters, how can this be? We learned to play collectively. I dont care what you do you can not guarantee everyone in the raid is pulling his weight and nor does a dmg meter say if he is. Ok hes hitting the mobs hard and fast but hes standing in the fire, waking up cced mobs, pulling agro, being a pain in the but, never following directions, standing in front of the cleaving mob, asking for buffs all the time, thinking he is elite but really not, and above else being a crappy PERSON to other guild members. Oh yeah lets make a damage meter for all of that and see. Here is what you do for you hardcore progression guilds, find out about the player by taking the time out to speak with the player during probation periods, learn how they play and if they seem to match up then you got yourself a winner. I dont mind parsers at all and wouldn't mind being able to take the data and see what I could do better on rotation an gear not show how long my epeen is. I was amazed with awe how easy WoW was with the various iteration of the dmg meters. It was goofy and STILL people failed, I couldn't understand it. It shows when your pulling agro and yet guess what, mob turns around cleaves half the raid and begins the wipe. All because either the player didn't care or he watching his dmg become erect and just couldn't stop himself from going farther. Do dmg meters in themselves hurt the game? Nope. Do people that abuse them on both sides of the coin? ALL THE TIME. If your really a hardcore guild and willing to do the work for progression then it should be no problem for you to pull parser data up and combine notes to become better players and in turn become a better guild. If you think you NEED a dmg meter for that then you FAIL. You are not entitled to anything in a game or in life so, please go QQ in a corner about how you lost the last boss fight because you didn't know how much damage you did and ill go pay some bills and have sex with my wife. Oh wait ok nvm that last part, wife does not = sex. See im not entitled either.
  21. well you have to drop biochem at least to get another crafting profession but you can keep your gathering the same if you like and just buy mats off of the GTN
  22. I was having this same exact problem and said screw it ill switch over to UT now before the flood of money squeezers in slicing get off of it. Yeah I wont make as much money as others but I can have my mats now without costing what people are asking. I can quietly do my thing and get what I want out of it. Its not a money race.
