  1. Exactly! I want a PvE west coast server and they are all full and most of us west coasters aren't even off work yet to get on! Get some more servers please!!!!
  2. Exactly! People keep saying to roll on lower population servers, but I can'd to that when they are all full!
  3. This! It's not like we have a choice but to roll on heavly populated servers! OPEN NEW SERVERS PLEASE!
  4. They need more servers, period! I want to play on a US, West coast PvE server and they are all listed as FULL, so tell me where else I can roll? In fact all US servers, except for like 4 PvP servers, are listed as heavy, very heavy or full, so it's not like we have much choice but to roll on highly populated servers.
  5. The problem is that there are still many people who want to play with friends who are already on these packed servers. There are just going to be even more jumping on. We need some new servers to alleviate the load a bit, not to mention there is still plenty who will join on the 20th. It's way to early to worry about server mergers and such.
  6. Please tell me where I ever said the PvP crowd should be inconvenienced? I never have said anything like that. Quite the contrary, I have stated that it's good there are PvP servers and I'm happy that people who like them get to play on them. All I have ever said, and have clarrified, is that from a western, US perspective, because that's where I will be playing, I'd like to see more PvE server than PvE because I believe they will be more full and thus have longer queues and I would like to avoid that. I have never once said to do away with PvP servers at all. Honestly, because I have played on PvP servers on other games, it is beneficial to have fewer PvP servers because you WANT a big population on PvP servers to make sure there is a good balance between the factions and so you have more people to fight. It's not as noticable to have a smaller population on a PvE server. As for playing more SWTOR, I'd love to, but unfortunately real life commitments prohibit me from doing it, so I am not power leveling. I'm just saying I want the choice to play how I want and that means I can flag PvP, or join warzones if one night I want to do that, or I can not and just quest in peace. It seems more like the PvP crowd does not want people like me to have that choice.
  7. Yes I see what you did, ducking out when faced with facts! BTW...you don't need a WoW account to check the server stats. I live in the US and will be playing on US servers. May I ask where you live and what servers you will be playing on? My points are all valid and back up everything I've said about playing in the US and the need for more US PvE server than PvP and I stand by my FACTS. I don't care how many Asian PvP servers there are because I'll never be playing on them. I have always argued for more US PvE servers.
  8. Did you not see the stats from WoW US/Latin America, Oceanic/Brazil? I think you did since you linked the page yourself. Now who's dodging the facts???? Hmmmmm....
  9. Again with the disparaging comments? You sure you're not mad? I notice that you were all quick to post the EU market server stats but completely ignored my stats. Hmmmm..wonder why that is? Funny how you say I must not have been on the debate team when you don't seem to know the difference between something that is a smash hit, and thus what peopel will emulate, a'la WoW, vs something that is a niche and profitable. Is EVE profitable, sure. Has it done quite well, sure. Is it the kind of numbers that are going to make the big boy developers decide they should make their next huge title full-on open world, no holds barred PvP...heck no! See the difference? Also, the Western market is relavent since SWTOR is a western MMO, and 500K subs will only make SWTOR profitable, but not a financial smash. Trust me, and you know this is true, if SWTOR settles in at only 500K subs, neither Bioware or EA will be very happy and nobody will be talking about TOR as a smash hit. Will it make money, sure...but not what they are hoping for.
  10. I appreciate your post. I for one have not said anything disparaging about those who choose to play on PvP servers. I think that's cool. All I've ever maintained is that SWTOR, a primarily PvE based game, should have more PvE servers than PvP servers. This statement alone seems to infuriate the PvP crowd. They then get all defensive and start claiming that people like me hate PvP and suck at the game and are carebears, etc. I just don't want to sit in a queue on my carebear PvE server because there are so many people who will want to play on those servers. That's all.
  11. I'm not doign the research for the EU server since I already did it for the US servers, but did this take into account how many medium and low populated servers there are? I'm guesing when those are factored in that the numbers will change drastically.
  12. Bingo, and that's why there needs to be more PvE servers, because not enough people are hardcore enough to need as many PvP servers. Again, I'm NOT saying not to have PvP servers, just that there should be more PvE servers to cater to the higher population crowd, at least from a US perspective, and that seems germain since, well, Star Wars is a Western MMO.
  13. You acuse me of looking at the small picture, but the reality is by this statement you are. 300K is not a smash hit. In "relative" terms it's succesful, but it's not a smash hit like WoW, RIFT or SWTOR. It's like saying someone who was making $20K a year doubled his salary to $40K...yes they did remarkably well, but they are not rich. You do see the difference right? Triple AAA MMO's, like SWTOR is, want to make millions and millions. I live in the US, so my view is colored by games like WoW, RIFT, etc which are western MMO's and I'm speaking from a western MMO perspective. To answer the person who was quoting WoW stats. I just did some checking on my own. Currently here is the wow distribution of servers for the US/Brazil/Oceanic/Latin America: 18 high population PvP servers 18 high population PvE servers 106 medium population PvE servers 47 medium population PvP servers 47 low population PvP servers 6 low population PvE servers Totals: 241 total servers 112 PvP 129 PvE 124 medium or higher populated PvE servers 65 medium or higher populated PvP servers I think I rest my case from a western MMO perspective about which group has the higher number of players.
  14. Why not? If I'm flagged that means you can attack me and kill me. How is that not PvP?
  15. Again with the hostility. Are you really this upset? Where have I said you are unimportant? Where have I said you are ALL gankers and griefers? Yes I have said you are a minority to those who prefer the PvE ruleset, but even so why do you care about that? I've never said to shut down all open world PvP servers. In fact I have actually said I think it's good they have them and that it's good for people like you who enjoy them. And, as I've said I did play UO at launch and let me tell you that you that even a skilled PvPer can only take on so many odds before it's impossible and I'm not lying when I say there were roving bands of PvPers in UO who did nothing but go around ganking people. You know that's true if you actually did play launch UO. You'll also notice I was careful to say "smash" hit and I did say that pure PvP games can be financially viable. They just aren't going to be HUGE like SWTOR, RIFT or WoW that have lots of PvE rule sets. Again, not sure why you're so mad about this? You're just not going to get a huge game with 1+ million players like the ones I mentioned with a hardcore, all open PvP ruleset. That's all I've been saying.
  16. It can be fun. I've never disputed that. I'll give you a perfect example from my own experience why I want to collect 20 bear asses in peace and that's because I have limited time to play, so if I need to collect those darn bear asses and I only have a short amount of time to do it, then darn it I want to get it done. I don't want to have to worry about getting ganked and fighting back and forth (if I can and it's not a group attacking me, or someone so much higher that I can't fight back). When I have more time if I want to PvP with people then voila, I just flag PvP and let's have at it.
  17. Unfortunately if you look at these threads closely more often than not it's the PvPers getting upset and calling the PvE players names and berating them as "baddies" "carebears" etc. Rarely do you see the PvE'ers doing the same thing.
  18. My first question is why are you so hostile? You don't see my putting you down do you? Secondly I would agree that UO was very successful at the time, but it was also so successful precisely because there was not much competition. As soon as EQ launched and there were options many people decided the PVP ruleset servers were not to their liking. You keep saying I am "putting down a ruleset I don't like" when I never have. I have nothing against those who love the PvP ruleset. I have just said it's not for me, and that there are more people who prefer the PvE ruleset. There is a BIG difference in that statement vs. me saying I hate PvP servers. You are correct there are a plethora of PvE games like WoW, which I played for many years and PvP'd in for many years. There is also this game, which is primarily a PvE game and that is why I'm here. I have just pointed out to you that TOR is NOT a primarily PvP based game, which I think you agree, so I have just suggested that you would be more successful voting with your wallet if that's the game you want, and to play games like Eve and Darkfall that cater to your desire primarily. If more people like you did that there is a higher chance a developer will come along and make a triple AAA rated MMO with the hardcore PvP ruleset as the primary game style.
  19. In a perfect world what you're saying make sense, but unfortunately this isn't a perfect world and what ends up happening is that the "gankers" tend to take over the open world PvP games and ruin it for those who like competitive PvP. I played original UO and I've played on PvP servers in WoW. I'm not lying when I say I enjoy to PvP, when it's competitive. Unfortunately more often then not it ends up where there are roving groups of people, 5 or more, that go around from zone to zone killing everyone in their path. Or, there are the max level players who do nothing but camp, spit on, laugh at, etc the poor lowbie. I hae no problem being killed but I do have a problem getting corpse camped. That's not fun for me and for most people. There is a reason more companies don't make full-on, open world, brutal PvP and that's because there simply aren't enough people to make it a smash financial success. I'm not saying it can't be profitable, because it can, but it won't be huge like WoW, or like they want SWTOR to be. That's why the hard core PvP games are smaller and made by independent companies like Eve and Darkfall. I'm afraid the hardcore PvP crowd who want open world, brutal PvP are in the minority. I'm not saying that because it means anything to me, but simply because that's the way it is. The best thing people like you can do is to financially support the games like Darkfall if that's the kind of game you want because the companies are all about the bottom line profits.
  20. In your opinion. As I stated, I love to PvP. However, I have about an hour or so a night I can play, so if I choose to PvP in that hour I can flag up and do world PvP, or I can queue for BGs (or whatever they are called here) and PvP. However, if I don't want to and want to use the limited time I have to get some quests done then I can do that too. I don't make fun of your play style, so I'm not sure why the PvP server crowd always feels the need to demean my prefered playstyle? You do realize that UO was originally released as a open world PvP all the time game. The problem was that most people didn't end up liking it so they changed it to allow for the PvE ruleset crowd. A majority of players migrated to that environment. I'm not sure why people like you are mad about it? There are still PvP servers and games like Darkfall that are full on PvP, so if that's what you want, why are you not playing that?
  21. You and I went round and round in the other thread about this. I'm not sure why you keep making this arguement? SWTOR, WoW, Rift, etc are PvE focused games with PvP tacked on. It doesn't do much good to talk about how the numbers of people playing on PvP vs. PvE servers would be much different if the game was a PvP focused game. It's not, so this point isn't really relevant. In a game like SWTOR, which is more PvE focused more people tend to prefer the PvE ruleset servers where they can choose when and where to PvP. As I stated, I love to PvP, but don't feel like getting ganked when I'm focused on getting something done quickly. when I want to PvP I can do that easily. When I played WoW, if I wanted to PvP I could just go to the crossroads, flag PvP, attack a few guards and in a few minutes I had level 85s showing up to fight me. I could fight them, have fun and then when I was done I can leave, de-flag and go about my business. That's fun for me. I don't begrudge people who love PvP servers and am happy they are there for those people. All I've ever said is that in games like SWTOR you're usually going to find many more people who prefer the PvE ruleset, so it would behoove Bioware to open more PvE servers.
  22. I made this observation on day one. You are absolutely correct OP. However, as you've seen already, the PvP crowd gets very defensive any time you bring up the fact that there are more people who would rather play on a PvE "RULESET" server where they can choose when and where to PvP, as opposed to the gank-fests on PvP servers. Notice, I am not comparing those who like to PvP to those who prefer PvE in general as there are plenty of people who love to PvP (like me) who prefer to play on PvE ruleset servers because they have limited time to play and don't want to spend the limited time they have getting ganked repeatedly by someone 20 levels above them. They need to open up more US PvE servers. Honestly I'm not sure why the PvP crowd gets so upset at this anyway. If you're on a PvP server you should be wanting them to keep the numbers small so that all the PvP servers are full. You don't notice smaller populations on PvE servers as much, but low population PvP servers are aweful.
  23. I hope so. As many have said, it's not the queues I care so much about, but wanting to start fresh today as opposed to jumping into servers full of people in their 30s already. As others have said, there will be more invites tomorrow and then there is the official launch on the 20th, so I wouldn't worry about any servers being ghost towns. All the US west coast PvE servers are listed as heavy load now. I don't think there would be a problem opening a new one. Pretty please!!!
