  1. A few specific things: While Seers will typically spec in and get the bubble-boost ability from telekinetics, it is by no means a certainty -- and by no means certain that even if that is a priority, that the seer will have enough points available to max out a 2-point power on the 2nd level of a DPS tree. Beyond that, you seem to be indicating that DPS sages have only one defensive ability, Force Barrier, which completely blocks all offensive abilities -- which would indicate that its main PVE use is "I am about to get dropped on by an airborn Kephess or barbequed by titan-6" -- predictable spike damage. A very powerful ability, but one that completely ignores the situations I see the most (non-tank) defensive cooldown use.... hitting the enrage timer of a boss in progression and high-frequency aggro-dumps by the boss (which leads to tanks NOT having taunts available -- or being unable for other reasons to use an AOE taunt). If Force Armour is supposed to be a healer-thing, then that leaves DPS sages typically dead, while the other ACs start popping cooldowns and (hopefully) giving the healers enough time to save them. PVE sages would be thrilled to death to have a 4-piece set bonus as powerful as noble sacrifice without a health cost. Of course, most of us would expect to lose it approximately a week later. If it was tied to Resplendence, then it might avoid being game-breaking, but it would be extremely powerful nonetheless. Of course, that would be very similar to an earlier style Sage .. except we'd have up to 3 free noble sacrifices instead of 1.
  2. Really? I hadn't noticed all the good players leaving.. Must be a perception thing. Glad you're having fun though Dray -- it is a game, after all. I hope you still have a full raid group available.
  3. I thought you left the game Dray? I mean, nobody heard from you in ages ... it was like you dropped off the planet or had your computer fry. As for the offer, no, we're quite enjoying clearing bosses on our own. It's more fun learning to do it yourself, after all, and we'd hate for you to think we were holding you back from anything; what with filling in holes in a raid roster or trying to bring a 16 man guild run together. -Sum
  4. Interrupt extract, kill the tentacle he summons on absorb (should take 1 project) Or pop heroic moment if you have enough abilities for it and just burn through the entire thing
  5. 1) Trooper, Smuggler 2) 55 3) Max 4) credits, perk 5) No
  6. So.. to those who think this should be prevented at any and all costs.. how many of you are willing to live with a system that goes something like this: guild bank access is tied to account (Guildmaster sets permission to 'account' with toon's name) every account is required to have a cell phone associated with it When you access a restricted tab, your cell phone is texted an 8-digit code that you have to enter.. and the guildmaster has to RESPOND to a text with 'GRANTED' If anyone answers yes, ask the rest of your guild, someone should clue you in as to why it's a bad idea. Those who answered 'no' -- well, we've just established that there is a limit. So, where is it really? Because I happen to think the number of tools currently granted to guildmasters make it pretty easy to secure it down, as long as they take precautions. And I'd rather NOT have to jump through fifty thousand flaming hola hoops to access the officer's tab in the guild bank. I'll take signing onto a voice server and asking the guildmaster to set me to officer.
  7. A tactician fights battles, a strategist fights wars.. Revan was both, but that doesn't excuse sloppy thinking; they are different. Likewise, a 'great' will have the goal of winning.. and a few others in mind. Generally, conserving troops and equipment is high on the list. Usually preventing civilian casualties (but that is cultural -- Republic will consider it a requirement, Sith .. the opposite requirement) Winning the respect of your opponents, possibly Preventing further incursions/wars, usually. But, the greats will have multiple purposes besides 'winning'. A 'genius' would be a great.. who is also creative. They won't simply use tried and true methods, they will come up with new ones, that work. So... is Revan a great? Doubtful. He won the respect of the Mandalorians, but he didn't appear to be looking for it. He didn't preserve troops, equipment OR civilians. And the Mandalorians are fighting against the Republic. All he did was win battles... so, a good tactician and good strategist, but not a great. He wasn't creative, or great, so definitely not a genius.
  8. Character quotes can never be canon. It should be pretty obvious why.. I mean, the characters can be wrong. They're characters. They can also change their mind, or lie. Or simply favour specific styles of tactics.. and remember, a genius is someone who agrees with you. Any mandalorian saying someone is a brilliant tactician, with their lust for glorious combat and general contempt for life and disregard for casualties, should be translated as 'someone who takes insane risks and throws away lives'. Not 'tactical genius'. Tactically and strategically sound.. maybe.
  9. There's a near-throwaway line in the EU about how the imperial fleet just went to pieces after Palpatine went on a short flight.. the theory mentioned that it was as if Palpatine had been bolstering and streamlining the entire fleet for the entire time he was Emperor. That sounds a lot like battle meditation, over the entire galaxy, for a period of 20 years, continuously.. is my reading of this correct?
  10. Well, I'm tired of being off-topic (since this is about getting clarifications and how they can be put into the game!). Hopefully, the answer to that is seamlessly, within the year we were promised, and up to the Bioware standard.. with some way to work for those of us who have multiple 50s!
  11. It was deliberate.. they posted about it a while ago. They wanted all of any one tier to be 'usable' but not 'amazingly good', so that top end optimizers had something to work for...
  12. Biased may have been a little strong, it's meant to capture that there are slight differences, and occasional errors where they conflict with movies and Lucas. Something you can generally take at face value, but is overall slightly less reliable (since if it was perfectly reliable, it would be exactly equal to the movies in all respects!)
  13. Am I the only one who thinks Revan is a far more awesome character as a strong, flawed jedi with the type of presence and leadership ability that comes once in a dozen lifetimes? Ignoring canon (very temporarily in my case!) and making Revan all-powerful (or even just insanely-powerful), it cheapens it for me. Revan is cool as a character when he's in over his head, being put up on a pedestal by the other characters but struggling to deal with everything. He's far less awesome and far less interesting when he isn't struggling to fix the things he broke. The key part there being struggling. Both with other people's expectations, his own expectations, and the actual things he's trying to do. Master of all Lightsaber forms, and the Light and Dark sides of the force.. where's the moment of despair that makes the victory heroic? Now, the thing about canon, and how I look at it (someone else might have a different way)... The movies are fact. You're a little mouse droid or whatever watching events unfold. You are 'seeing' them. There might be things you miss, but what you see is what happened, as it unfolds. The novels are history books. They're mostly accurate, but they were written later by someone who was there. So you get little biases, little bits of misleading information, and a few outright misinterpretations or errors. They're still valid, since we can't just go and SEE the events, but sometimes the little things just aren't quite right. The things declared non-canon are the ones that are completely wrong, or so wrong as to be not usable. Games, things along those lines? They are the bard's tales. All sorts of wild exaggeration (like Starkiller pulling a star destroyer down), but the "core" of the story is true.
  14. Just popping my head in to add a bit of support. Because while regardless of how it started, this has just gotten ridiculous.. and Bioware has actually made it into an issue, when it really should not have been. So, I thought the people who have been keeping an eye on this deserved a bit kind word/thought/post. Many thanks for keeping such good records of the community, and for staying cool-headed!
  15. Why not give mission discoveries an extra option? Do it yourself. Take a companion and go on the mission, where how much you acquire depends on how thoroughly you complete the mission, and what objectives you achieve. Have a small default payout for just doing the mission, have bonus quests payout the rest, and have it like the bonus quest on Tython when you receive your lightsaber -- one shot, you die, no payout at all.
  16. If it becomes a combined story, how are you going to improve replayability? Currently, class quests are very good, but many of the planetary quests get a little dry the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time through? Would it be a case of every time you start the next segment, it includes references to the previous characters you brought into it (thus always making it play differently) or tied to legacy or simply static? On a similar note, will it complete the companion quests? With only half the romances implemented and live, it really feels like companions are incomplete and just not up to the Bioware standard
  17. Plain brown hooded robes with pants. The classic look from Luke walking into Jabba's palace. THAT is what a jedi Guardian should look like. Trench coat for smugglers. Some snazzy outfits for smugglers -- imp-side has a lot of them, rep side everything seems to look like it's from the puritans. If my smuggler wants to show a little skin, there should be some options for it! Some formal robes (skirt AND pant options) for consulars. Without the shoulderpads or wristpads.
  18. See... the thing is, you don't judge adequacy for combat for average users by throwing them into an extreme melee. That's a specialist/master test. That's like saying if you can't swim across the English channel, your swimming technique is inadequate. If the situation is for a hyperintense combat, send the combat specialists. Niman has few combat specialists (the masters), it has generalists, so it was a bad fit for what they do. Not a valid way to judge the form. That's like saying Ataru is a weak form because all the masters died while fighting in this tunnel scenario. You just don't send the ataru-using people into that type of fight, because it's not what they are trained for. You could send Niman-users into it, and unless it turned out to be an extremely intense fight that would push a specialist in that style of fighting to the limits, they'd do alright.
  19. Generalists are a great thing. You send them when you don't know what to expect. Seriously. If you're expecting major fighting, send a combat-specialist. If you're expecting negotiation, send a diplomat. If you can't expect anything, well, you send someone who can do everything, because then you don't have someone who is weak to the situation dealing with it. The generalist might not excel the way the expert does, but he will do better then the those who are not good at the situation. At worst, they buy time for the experts to arrive. Likewise, in your MMO analogy.. taking the generalist means that when things go sideways, you have someone who can respond to it. Flexibility is wonderful.
  20. The Other Guys (Republic) is looking to fill out a core raiding group (and additional groups if possible) Currently working on HM EC and SM TFB, all roles welcome, especially tanks! We're a friendly guild, running teamspeak with someone usually on, a multi-tab guild bank, and there is usually someone on who can help out, answer questions or otherwise assist. We're more then happy to do runs for gearing or just for fun. Send whispers to Sumshara (of the Ni'vira legacy), or ask any of The Other Guys with questions
  21. It happens sometimes. Open powers and find the 'Cover in Place' -- that should fix it.
  22. Seer Spec. How others perceive it: a very useful spec. Moderately high skill requirements to do 'alright' in, extremely high skill requirements to excel in. Tends to require extremely good awareness, prioritization and timing, more then anything else. How I perceive it: Good for any type of PVE, if the sage is talented. If they aren't familiar with healing and/or don't know the spec inside and out, they'll run into force issues or people dying on them issues.
  23. Right now we have the MOTD, which is useful but character limited. What would be nice is, alongside the guild bank, there was a bulletin board that guild members could put notes up.. whether it's people who are willing to craft, or simply a week long operation schedule. Something with more characters then the MOTD
  24. Honestly? Having done major development work before... improving old gear is a GOOD use for resources. Something that irritates early on... will mean people won't care that it is no longer an issue later on. Especially because of rolling alts and such.
