  1. No, it still would be just as tedious as he was claiming. a couple of weeks ago the current lfg tool could not allow me to form a group for taral V normal; there was no healer on between levels 25 and 45. This was the case all evening. The current lfg tool does not fix the problem; on the other hand, a cross server lfg tool would mean finding a group in seconds, instead of going all evening without a group... it actually fixes the problem
  2. Yes. MMO is massively multiplayer online. A RPG is a roleplaying game. I fail to see what either of those questions have to do with the quoted text. A game where everyone can friend, group and raid with anyone else is an mmo, even if some particular divisions of that mmo have low populations. And as long as you're playing a role, it's a roleplaying game as well. Nothing about cross server lfg causes any change to that challenge. Nerfs to content cause changes to the challenge. Cross server lfg does not in any way require nerfs to content. No, both of those games had a history of nerfing content to make it accessible that predated a cross server lfg. At best you can claim that they nerfed content after a cross server lfg tool was added.... but that doesn't prove any sort of causal relationship. At best you can show correlation Correlation <> causation, and wow had been nerfing content for years before the cross server lfg tool was added. No, wow was an aoe snorefest before cross server lfg, and remained that after the lfg tool was added. It became even easier because the tool entered the game with a significant increase in the next tier of gear, with no corresponding increase in the difficulty of the old content.
  3. Eh, it lacks all of the problems of an empty server at that point... so the fact that it's still an empty server is irrelevant. Nope Solo them, or find one other person of any class/spec to duo them with. And that's only if I bother doing the ones that are actually repeatable. I've done all of them, so there's no much point in redoing most of them.
  4. Because that increases the chance of actually finding a group... going to a planet just decreases the chance of actually finding a group, even if you assume that they have something worth doing on any planet.
  5. No, "May the first" is not a starwars holiday. That's May Day. You're thinking of Star wars day, which is on May the fourth (05/04) it's not a recent internet phenomenon:
  6. That wasn't really world pvp for the sake of world pvp. That was world pvp for the sake of controlling the an area to more safely level in. The bottom line is that you have to give people a reason to care about doing it.
  7. their source is linked at the bottom of that article... they're sneaky but they call it the "source" http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/02/bioware-force-pushes-back-against-swtor-doubters/ Actual quotes according to the source article
  8. lightside/darkside choice in some Hardmode flashpoints don't count (though they may have fixed them and I didn't notice). Taral V, for example. Try running one of the earlier flashpoints solo (black talon/esseles) and you should get the LS/DS points from that.
  9. google chrome and firefox allow you to read the internal memory state of the SWTOR game in realtime and made adjustments? I think you're mistaken. I'm pretty sure that you need to be using a much more specialized 3rd party app to do that, and that if they mange to catch you doing so, you'll get banned or suspended.
  10. So is single server lfg. And single server grouping through chat without an lfg system. No, properly implemented it fixes all of the problems of having a low pop server that bother me. I'm able to group, do raids, meet new friends, chat with people I know, and have fun with friends any time of day or night. What exact problems do you think still remain? No, most people know why they can't get groups... it's lack of people. For example: you're simply not going to get a group for Taral V normal together if there isn't a healer on the server who's of the level range to do it. Personally, I find it kind of laughable that someone who's had posts in this thread removed for blatant trolling and insults (I actually saw several get removed as I went to report them... you get an error because the post doesn't exist at that point) is pretending that the people he's arguing with are the ones with some sort of social problem ...
  11. The top 3 religions in the world all have 900 billion or more followers each (.9, 1.5 and 2.1 followers, respectively), and they have antithetical beliefs. Having a lot of people believe a particular delusion doesn't make it true. the fact is: there are a lot of people who believe the cross server grouping is responsible for problems, even though the reality is that those issues predate cross server grouping by as much as a decade and had been trending worse immediately prior to the introduction of the lfd tool... So far, you've given 0 actual evidence to support that. You need to provide an actual explanation... just saying "lots of us are deluded" isn't helping your case. No, the reality is that the content will become unused over time; the midlevel flashpoints are almost totally unused on all but the top couple of servers, for example. Xserver is not just the best answer... it's the only answer.
  12. the game state is stored in memory in the computer, which is available to being read by 3rd party programs....
  13. That's not true at all; it does indeed help the game community establish itself; it can certainly help guild communities grow (as long as it has tools that people have been asking for); it can even help server communities grow, if it's implemented in a way that allows people to find and migrate to servers that match what they want out of a community. No, there are multiple players. By definition it's a multiplayer game. totally false; the reasons for joining a guild remain the same as they have since before WoW was released..
  14. No, we're already 100% anonymous. A tool just removes the waiting part, which is why people are asking for it.
  15. Which ability is grayed out? If you're talking force choke... it's because you haven't used your heroic moment: channel the force cooldown. if you're saying that your heroic moment: channel the force ability is always grayed out.... well, I've never seen that issue. It sounds like you're expecting that your heroic moment: channel the force is going to be automatically activated... and that's just not the case.
  16. sure you can... you just have to use non-circular logic. It hurts the community therefore it hurts the community, QED ... isn't really a valid explanation as to how it hurts the community. Nor is "it causes <x negative effect on the community>" a valid explanation, unless you can actually show causation ... and so far, noone has done so.
  17. a single server tool does not fix the problem. Just like in rift: it won't help low pop servers at all it won't help decent* pop servers off peak times it won't help decent* pop servers for low levels *as in: everything but the 1 or 2 highest population servers.
  18. It only greatly limits it if it's something that the vast majority of the playerbase is going to use. Otherwise it has a minor, if any change to the availability of the people outside the tool. That's just blatantly untrue; you will indeed still have the ability to "just don't use it" and pretending otherwise is just absurd. If you're grouping with friends, and not having any problems finding groups, then you'll continue to be able to group with friends and not have any problems finding groups, without having to use the tool.
  19. EVERYTHING you mention predates the lfg tool. They were in a hurry years before lfg was released; Tanks didn't let healers get their mana up... even before wow was released ( it was common in even EQ, way back in the day). DPS pulled mobs because tanks were to slow in theirr opinion There were plenty of rude people. People that cursed and who never said anything after getting invited to the group. There were plenty of afk people There were people getting kicked for no reason; it happens in this game, it happened in wow prior to lfg, it happened in EQ. EQ had real ninjalooters; wow had people "ninjalooting" before lfg. Plenty of them in Rift and other games as well. None of this is an argument against cross server lfg. No, it's so that I can get my group faster so I can play the game more instead of sitting around in fleet afk. No, I'll still queue up because I enjoy playing the game. Nice combination of a strawman argument with a slippery slope fallacy. You just needed one more fallacy for the fallacy hat trick. No, people complained about it more than a decade ago in EQ... so you did indeed hear people talking about it.
  20. no, he's looking for verisimilitude.
  21. that's how the lfg tool in wow works; it doesn't require realid, just that you add them to your ignore list. Currently works in WoW with an enhancement in the works (replacing realid with the battletag system) Works in RIFT currently for free and in wow for $$$
  22. In wow? Yes. In everquest a decade ago? Yes. sure you can have a guild; there's not even a reason to prevent cross server guild invites in fact. No, bad people create the worst pugs. The bad people exist whether there is cross server lfg or not server wide LFG - YES Cross-server LFG YES
  23. Less people using the cross server grouping system, which reduces it's effectiveness. It's actually the same concession that the single server lfg people are making. The "I don't want to use the lfg tool at all" people don't actually make a concession other than "other people can play the game the way that they want and I don't get to control them"
  24. Successful at exposing the majority of the playerbase to the end game; previously only a small minority had actually been able to be involved in the end game content.
  25. His option does indeed give all 3 people what they want. The people who don't want lfg period can continue to not use a matchmaking lfg tool. The people who want a single server lfg tool can queue up and check the single server only box The people who want a cross server lfg tool can queue up and check the cross server box. I notice that you've moved from one blatantly false position (the cross server allows RMT/gold sellers to transfer items cross server) to another blatantly false position (that the above suggestion doesn't offer a choice). The fact that you just dropped the former blatantly false position without any concession about how you were wrong makes your more recently blatantly false position look like an elaborate tap dance to distract people.
