  1. I dunno if it's the fact that I learned the mechanics of this game playing Gunship or not, but I have very little trouble hitting a stationary target. In fact, if a mine/drone leaves my sight picture without exploding, I didn't want to shoot it.
  2. Wow.. I must be better with that thing than I thought.
  3. BLC have (roughly) a 4000m range right? Most mines can only damage to about 3k, correct? latch at 3.5k and BLC away. Of course, I tend to fly my Battle Scouts like cruise missiles anyway, so i don't care if I die, so long as someone else dies first. As for the LOS around the sat, that's why you don't play ring around the node with Bombers, Porpoise in and out, (get above, get below, pew pew pew.)
  4. I can say I survived and 8v1 on my Gunship, too, doesn't make it true, however I did intentionally bait an opposing team into chasing my gunship so their backsides were pointed at my teammates, and it worked quite well, until they figured out what I was doing, so, Technically, I survived a Teamv1 encounter on my gunship. Of course, My goal never was KILL THEM ALL!!!11one! in that instance, it was "How can I best aid my teammates...only gunship, going against an opposing team that knows me...I know! I'll lead them on a merry chase! I did this with the knowledge, I was facing Black Squadron, (at least 6 of them) a group that knows how dangerous I am in a gunship, on my Imperial toon, They know my Imp, and I was in the Mangler.. Hell, in the same situation, I'd PT me. So I went full evasive, not just meaning cooldowns, and abilties, but an unpredictable flight path, and using terrain to frustrate targeting attempts, and dove straight through their push. At one point this tactic gave my team a 10 point lead...until they figured out that I was doing to them. final score was 38-36, pubs. Which is not all that bad, given what Black Squadron usually does to the Imps on POT5, and I say this with no intent of slight toward My guild or the Imps I was flying with at the time. Black Squadron is a coordinated group of pilots ranging in skill from average to excellent, and we all work very well together. But I used their knowledge of me and my knowledge of them, to my team' s advantage. and it worked...for a little bit. So yeah, if you're not concerned about scoring points for your team, a mastered gunship can survive overwhelming odds, to a point, and it doesn't happen very often. As for the BLC scout vs bomber argument, I will proudly claim the title as the worst Mastered Scout pilot on POT5, I hate those ships...they're squirrelly, delicate and have far too short a range for my liking. In fact, I only managed to master them through patience, teamwork and, I'm not ashamed to admit, spending some cartel coins, Yet, I've managed to latch onto bombers and burn them down with BLC and Clusters, as long as you keep a decent range, the BLC will knock out any active mines and/or drones until those outside of the shotgun blast of the BLC are removed because the Bomber exploded.
  5. Well, I view the Mastered ship as a fallback ship while I'm leveling another. Say I've got a master Novadive, but I'm wanting to try something different, so I take my Star Guard out, and whoops, Premade on the other side, and My Star Guard is getting me roflstomped. So I'll switch to the Novas to better contribute to the team. Also, playing a ship to master gives you greater insight to it's strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I've got 7 ships mastered so far. So not only do i know what my ship can do at it's best, odds are, I know what *Your* ship can do at it's best, and I'm going to use both to kill you, repeatedly, and without mercy. Never discount experience when it comes to twitch based gameplay, all the alpha builds and OPed battle scouts in the world don't mean a phallic appendange if you don't know how to fly it.
  6. You may want to tune down your graphics preset. Is you PC making any funny noises?/Having heating issues? Also, The SWTOR launcher has a repair installation feature, you may want to try that.
  7. Any one type of Fighter should not be about to compete with multiple ships of of Any other type, if that one ship is foolish enough to take them on alone. You're not asking for Balance, you're asking to be OPed. My gunship is a hell of a thing, but when two or three enemy ships jump on me, I'm dead or running for cover. It doesn't matter what kind of ships they are, I'm still going to die, because they have the tactical advantage at that point. It is the same with Strikes, and Bombers. In fact, the only ship I have even a remote chance of surviving a 4 on 1 encounter with is, in fact, a scout. Because it's a got a whole rack full of evasion, and lock breaking abilities, not to mention it's faster and more maneuverable, than any other type of ship in the game. The trade off is it's not as durable, that's how the game works. Stop rage tunnelling, and charging straight into the kill zone, then hurling insults. Maybe think for a second, and use your ships strengths against the enemy ships weakness, and you might just be able to kill a few of them. As for you "If enough people complain about it, maybe it is a problem." No, Just, No. We have a handful of forum whiners, that's just it. If you can't do a 150 damage to a stationary target (All that's needed to take out a mine), or drop a drone, maybe you should go back to angry birds, GSF just isn't the game for you. Also, if you can't latch on to a big slow, lumbering Bomber's six, and blast him with BLC and cluster, until he goes boom, you've got zero business flying a scout.
  8. Dude, tell me you're trolling. Please tell me you're trolling. I've seen several Scouts that routinely turn in 15+ kills a match, and I knocked out 16 on a Quell that doesn't even have a full list of rank one upgrades this morning. Maybe you shouldn't forum rage so hard and figure out what you're doing wrong.
  9. Effective CBreaker Kill methodology: 1. Set target on fire, with Plasma Rail. target will A: Run, B: Attack, C: Explode If target runs, attack Plasma rail again, or retarget. Rinse, Repeat until C 2. If Target B: Attacks, switch to protrops, and go for lock, maintain position if target and his allies remain out of their weapon range, or Joust, with Heavy Lasers while locking on. Fire protorp and target with likely C: Explode. 3. If Target survives the joust with a heavy laser, plasma burn, and torpedo hit, activate feedback shield, and reset, or simply wait for the wounded duck to peck your feedback shield, at which point, he will likely C: Explode. Maybe it's just because I mastered the Quarrel first and the Pike second, That I'm able to see and use the benefits of the Cbreaker platform. Either way, if you've made up your mind, I'm not going to be able to change it. But for those having trouble with it, My way works, for me and I'm happy to help anyone wanting to use this platform to it's fullest.
  10. Do you fly the Star Guard in the same manner you fly the Pike? What about the Novadive, you fly it like a Flashfire? Of course not: That would be stupid. So why on earth would you fly the Comet-Breaker like you would the Quarrel I've had nothing but sucess with my CBreaker, Because I recognize it's strengths along with it's weaknesses. No it is not as manueverable as a Strike, but it is a fine jouster when needs be, the Feedback shield, Heavy Lasers and Protorps are more than enough to drop most enemy craft on a head to head run. The Cbreaker also evades as well as the Quarrel, with the available Barrel roll. It is not uncommon for me to record multiple kills with each weapon system (Feedback Shield, Protorps, HLasers, and Plasma Rail) when I take my Breaker out. (And yes, I realize the shield ability isn't technically a weapon system, but I use it like one, so I include it.) The CBreaker wasn't intended to be a Quarrel reskin, so stop expecting it to be.
  11. People that hate the comet breaker do not know how to fly the comet breaker. Hint: It's a Strike Fighter with a rail gun.
  12. Gunship Overwatch can be a sticky tactic to counter, The best advice for a solo player taking on a gunship cluster is to be sneaky, and use LOS cover to close to firing range. In my experience the Type 2 Striker (Pike/Quell) is the best non-gunship to do this, Althought I've seen very effective scout pilots in both current types do this very well. Remember, you don't have to kill a gunship to take it out of the fight, simply force it to keep moving, in fact, keeping a gunship mobile may be the best possible use of a pilot with low to midgrade experience and skill. Also: Never, Ever, fly straight at a gunship. If they're scoped, you're a stationary target that keeps getting bigger.
  13. The idea of a Guild starship is great, don't get me wrong, it is frankly, the most exciting bit about the new expac to me, but what will it do? Will it be mobile? Can we move it from system to system, or will it just hang out around the Fleet? Could two guilds from opposing factions coordinate to start a battle for a system by moving there flagships into the same area? (i.e. Spawning a generic GSF or Ground pvp zone accessible by members of those two guilds for grudge matches, player events? Will there be different hull types that a guild can choose from for their flagship? Can a guild have more than one starship? (The latent, and long ignored RPer in me wants the answer to this one to be yes.) Will we be able to pick up our dailies from the Flagship? What about access mail, Cargo holds, and Guild banks? (This seems like a no brainer to me) Launch for Ops and/or raids? Can we place our "Galactic Stronghold" On our Guild Flagship? I hope sincerely hope that docking our Class ships and GSF fighters is a no brainer in the Flagship development. Will these be partially craftable, or just outright purchases from NPC vendors? I'd bet the RP community is positively buzzing with the thought of a Starship-shaped private playground, and that would be a great feature for that sub-set of the playerbase, but I can't help but wonder, what it will do for the rest of us Let the wild speculation commence!
  14. I eat my humble pie, dust off and get back in the saddle, and get back out there, fit to tear the backside from man or beast. Of course I have a couple stealth alts for just this reason.
  15. You don't. Find a couple guys, or even just one, that's sick of getting face rolled, hop in a voice channel, and Leave the good, bad and ugly that come with pugs to there own devices. Typing while GSFing is kinda like texting while driving, you might get away with it once or twice, but eventually it's gonna end messy.
  16. You're the reason I can hit mofos at full boost in a turn fight at max range... squirelly ****er....
  17. Well, I've been called the type of guy that will take a black eye, to knock the other guy's teeth out. Hence, Feedback Shield, hurt them in ways unexpected. Now, Maethon, I've flown with you and against you, I will say this, you are uncommonly aware as a GSF pilot, that is what makes you dangerous. 99% of your scout pilot brethren are like a hungry dog. Dangerous...but in a controllable way, and you sir are not the norm, to the point where I'd rather have you on my wing than on my six. Why do I remember killing you with my feedback shield, because you are extremely difficult to kill. I'd rank you with Scrab and Trith is hardest Scout pilots to shoot out. You are intelligent, know the game, know your craft, and you think in a very fluid manner. However, the BLC/Accuracy build scout will wind up being nerfed, because everyone that flies it puts up hellified numbers, if a modicum of talent is a given. When is comes down to it, winning is a game of risk. I don't care about my K/D, I don't care about my damage taken, I don't care about my hit percentage, and I will use terrain in place of a lock breaker, and I will do what I need to in order for my team to win, and I've been known to close to gun range on those that use evasion builds and simply use my light lasers to overwhelm the RNG. For my style, Feedback simply works better. Also, 10 points of drain isn't piddly when they only have 30 left from boosting through effective gunship range to fire with BLC Speaking of Risk, if you and I ever get the chance to play a game, I'd jump at it.
  18. the damage *IS* piddly, the engine and weapon power drain... is not.
  19. As for the Shield ability that doesn't shield: The Best Defense is a Good Offense is a a saying that comes to mind. Or you could equate Gunship defenses to football defenses. i.e., It is the Defense' job to attack. Whenever I'm forced defensive on a gunship, I'm gonna die without help, therefore...I attack.
  20. Wrong. Because I distinctly remember cackling maniacally after you blew up against mine once in TS. You were chasing me, Molva or Uno tagged you, (can't remember which,) as I activated my feedback, then boom, Mae'thon bits On a completely different subject, bring your afterburners back to Pot5.
  21. Another Korithas rage thread? He's cut back, it seems. Let me some it up: Korithas: SIT STILL AND DIE FOR ME!!!11!!!1 EVERY GAME MECHANIC I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS OPED AS F%$&! I CAN'T EVEN LOLSCOUT RIGHT! Every other GSFer: Shut up and L2P
  22. While it is possible to be more wrong, you'd really have to work at it. I use feedback shield on every one of my gunships, and it's a great finisher for that tunnel visioned lolscout that you've tagged once. I score an average of 2 kills a match with the feedback against scouts, other gunships, pretty much every thing, because it they're already damaged, it's a good 100% hitrate shot, maxed out it hits for 690 dmg, and can have a power drain effect if you select it.
