I had problems with that last night as a level 8 Sith Juggernaught as well, couldn't even get him down to under 50% (it's a sidequest btw), I decided to move on and went to Baras to continue the quest-line instead, when he gave me Vette I decided to give it one more try and with her as backup that "boss" was a pushover - without having leveled up or anything. Well if he doesn't then I do...maybe it's just me but traveling on a speederbike in SWG and passing vast nothingness for 20 minutes to get to a destination wasn't fun in any way, (I used to auto-drive and point myself in the general direction then go make a cup of coffe) it added nothing but boredom...

For scavenging I just did Esseles (equivalent to Black Talon) and farmed the droids you get to kill, the flashpoint is easily soloable at lvl20 (I resisted pretty much all attacks), just can't get the bonus mission droid to come out and play while alone. For the other gathering-professions I'm sure there are other equivalent resources out in the world ready to be plundered (I've seen lots of crystal formations around for example) If you do missions with your companion while exploring you should gain points quite fast. edit: I might have responded to the wrong topic here...I'll just let it be anyway.
