  1. So my pet chimpanzee and I are looking for a new PVP guild to play with. We're both recent 55s. I have a vengeance juggernaut (though I'm willing to gear up immortal or play rage) that's full obroan with blue augments and my friend is a merc healer that's just finishing acquiring obroan. We're also levelling up alts--my simian friend is levelling a sorcerer to either heal or dps, and I'm levelling up an assassin. We are not serial killers in real life. We do have notable prior MMO experience. We came from a guild on wow that peaked at a rank of US#72 for pve and frankly really enjoy the warzones this game has to offer. We like listening to Passenger of **** while crushing nerds under our feet. Sometimes i feel like when I play star wars i think that im playing against like 50 year old men who saw a new hope when it first came out and immediately their childhood development froze right there and they were unable to progress from that point on becoming emotionally stunted and ever since their entire life has been star wars and they arent actually very good at video games and in their advanced age they have lost their manual dexterity and their reaction time has dropped off but they're having fun because they're playing the same class that luke skywalker would have been and so they like to zoom in on their character and breathe heavily while imagining how cool they are while i manage to simply walk up to the objective node and click on it and get off a full 8 second channel and it never once crosses their mind to stop me. You can contact me on Kerrath or Ellouelle on imperial side and Amielle on republic side. You can contact my cro-magnon life companion on Adilah or Nethazia on imperial side and Irasa on republic side.
  2. if by 'a joke' you mean 'they dont really have any' then yeah you're right. even mining is a part of the pvp system in eve. eve's a pretty fun game and it's my primary mmo. the raw amount of balance and realism in the game is unparalleled by any other game. i just play swtor between undocks, because sometimes nullsec gets a little quiet.
  3. http://www.eveonline.com/ are you one of those kinds of people who think that if you grind up materials that it makes those materials free
  4. To be quite honest with you, there will not be a reliable means of proving anything in that way. At best, you're going to have anecdotal evidence which is not revered for its accuracy, nor very valuable. The value of crit will rise due to the small time frame (uptime, etc), but the only way to determine whether a certain crit value is worth it is to plot things out. And yes, I mean "determine a short rotation, then determine a statistically probable damage result from it".
  5. no, i was expecting that they'd have a reasonable, not-exorbitant price, and i was expecting that i'd be able to contribute to pvp without having a wall sticking out in front of me, arbitrarily placed there between levelling pvp and capped pvp. id est: levelling bgs - reasonably balanced, you can jump in and play at any time. capped bgs - bolster does nothing useful
  6. that sounds like a major pain in the ***. now i'm struggling to think of a justification to bother with it.
  7. So, I just got my shadow to 55. I went out of my way to grind enough warzones to have enough commendations to afford an almost-full set of partisan gear before dinging 55. The rest of the slots were filled with basic gear. That is to say that I have full 63s to 66s in every slot. However, relative to sub-55 pvp, 55 pvp I feel completely worthless outside of maybe spamming taunts (no, i'm not tank spec, btw) because i barely do any damage to people, and I get crushed quick. However, I'm not using augments, because I looked and the price of adding an augment to a piece of gear would cost me ~80k for the kit, 36k to put the kit in, and then 15k for the augment itself, which would be fine, except for the part where I need to do this for all 14 slots. I'm presuming that if I get augments for every slot, that my stats will rise dramatically, and pvp will be less of a waste of time. However, I don't have 1.8 mil to just dump on augments. 1.8 mil, as far as i can tell, is a **** ton of money. Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there a cheaper way to get gear that already has augmentation slots in it?
  8. It's really hard, because traditionally, Jedi are portrayed as ascetics who are trained and raised outside of the world, so they have no worldly experience, and are actually extremely naive in the matters of ethics, because they're taught basically to blindly follow the rules. The same goes for Sith, naturally, given that they're comic relief rebels who do everything exactly the opposite of jedi. In the real world, "good" and "evil" are illusory and hard to define. A grey jedi would be a jedi who was philosophically aware that the world is in shades of grey and not just black and white, who wasn't a ********, but wasn't selfless either. Of course, that wouldn't make for a very exciting story character, because such a jedi would make neither a good hero nor a good villain. He'd just fade into the background and likely not get involved in the problems of the galaxy. That is to say, no **** you can't think of any grey jedi.
  9. if its any consolation it looks really comfortable to me.
  10. Viable alternative options: 1) Stop caring and move on. 2) Do we really need a second option? If you're distraught by verbal abuse, you probably deserved it, because if it wasn't true, it wouldn't bother you.
  11. this. i don't see any bullying going on in the chat.
  12. You say that like as if SWTOR's game design isn't completely dominated by casual altoholic mindset with hardcore gamers being pretty much left in the dust.
  13. In the real world, fights don't happen on Final Destination with items turned off, with Fox as the only selectable character. Real competition occurs when you elevate yourself to the level of your enemies, rather than when you whine for your enemies to descend to your level. Perhaps you should try going into a fight with a balanced, solid class comp and use voice chat to organize yourself? The gear grind isn't particularly long in this game, by the way.
  14. I didn't see the part where tanks were deprived of money. Do you use your professions and such?
  15. internet bullying in a nutshell: http://i.imgur.com/5pFah.jpg On the internet, you can turn the computer off, or ignore the offender, or any number of alternatives. In real life, you can't necessarily escape a bully's torment. It's not really fair to make a comparison.
  16. If you can really clear nightmare mode content without keybinding every single key then I'm looking forward to hitting 50. I come from playing in top 100 US guilds in wow where everyone is functionally undergeared due to the fact that the first hundred or so kills of a boss happen in the first weekly lockout, and we therefore have to overperform to kill the bosses. If you DON'T keybind every in-combat spell you have, you're gonna have a bad time. If clickers get by in this game then I'm not expecting much trouble in raiding in this game.
  17. your avatar looks like an 1800s english teacher. i just want you to know that i imagined a british nanny saying "vicious attack on the english language".
  18. im pretty sure that you clicked on a [flirt] option somewhere.
  19. should have said it was inappropriate buddy. you're stuck for life. i understand if you wanted to have a 3 some with tharan cedrex and holiday which basically amounts to copious man-touching while watching holiday (who i like to refer to as "the internet girlfriend") hologram-stripping. but the time is passed and you are now a married man.
  20. False. Light Side Act 1 is AMAZING. If you do it light side, Act 1 goes like this: You present yourself as a reasonable, sensible and rational person. You don't start fights, but you do finish them. Every Jedi you face becomes wholly confused by you. You even get the opportunity to point out the flaws in the Jedi Code and humiliate a few of them. When you get to Nomen Karr, he refuses to accept the premise that you would be satisfied only to meet Jaesa and resolve the conflict peacefully. He comes at you again and again, at each time you strike him down. He becomes furious that he cannot beat you, and you nonchalantly outskill him at his own game. When Jaesa comes around, you convince her that the Jedi are ignorant and that being a sith isn't all about being a mohawk sodomite trenchcoat wearer with a potato for a brain--it's just about using the force to its fullest. It's very fun.
  21. Hi. I have a fresh 50 juggernaut and am in the middle of levelling a 35 assassin and I'm hoping to find a guild for endgame play. My juggernaut is still only wearing tionese gear (for tanking) unfortunately, but I can quickly remedy that. As far as experience goes, I am new to endgame SWTOR, but I came from wow where I raided at the top 100 US level for about a year. If you want proof, you'll have to ask me in private, as I'd rather not make a spectacle of myself. I do use mumble and skype and I can follow any directions without issue on a moment's whim. I am used to gaming in a fashion where the strategies have not come out yet and where everything must be learned as they happen. I have all of my spells keybound as well. Please respond to this thread with your contact information if you're interested. Willing to do either PvE or PvP, no preference.
  22. So, I hit 50 on my first toon (sith juggernaut) and I can't decide what to do with my next one. I'm caught between Jedi Sentinel and Vanguard. Both of them have the playstyle of someone who jumps into combat headlong and destroys everything in its path. My question is, what is there more demand for? I know Sentinels have a core role in rated warzones but I do like the fact that Vanguards can tank. If you had a buddy show up and say "yo im gonna play what do you need me to roll as" what would you suggest?
  23. Yes, these examples are examples of what I said before that I have bolded for emphasis: Can you list some for me? I can't think of any games where "Project" is a listed skill as it is.
  24. @ Dyvim: You still have not explained what is dark sided about project. Let me explain what I mean: Force Lightning is dark sided because it inflicts extreme and unnecessary pain on the enemy. In addition to killing the foe, it tortures them as it does so. This is clearly dark sided. Force stun is generally light sided because it can be used to completely avoid a fight. It's pretty simple. Force telekinesis is neutral because it can be used any way you like it to. How is project dark sided? Can you please, take a moment, and explain to me in detail the fundamental darkness behind project?
  25. So, let me categorize the list of attacks you've given me: 3 listed events about Mace Windu. 2 listed events where Obi-Wan removed someone's limb. 1 listed event where Yoda used Project. So, of these 3, here are my rationalizations: #1: Regarding Mace Windu, here is a portion from the entry on him on Wookiepedia, with important parts bolded: #2: Re: Obi-Wan, one way of disarming somebody is to literally remove their arm. That isn't a killing blow, especially in the age of cybernetics. #3: So is Project a dark side move or not? Because that's what Yoda is doing there. BTW, 5 of the 6 listed events were in the prequels which take the seat as the #1 disappointment of all time in cinema, because the original trilogy was so good and everyone had such high standards for the prequels, and then George Lucas took a big steaming dump all over the faces of America with the prequels, which are most well known for their convoluted plots and emotionless characters.
