  1. Just looked at my first GW2 youtube clip last night, had resisted and didn't want to knowing it would probably make my feelings on TOR PvP drop even more, was right It was a fort siege with trebuchets etc, big scale stuff and my type of PvP ( why I liked Warhammer for a while, War should have had stuff like trebuchets for example ). Couldn't help but shake my head at TOR having just a few 8 v 8 warzones and is why I have basically stopped PvPing altogether, got bored of them, along with the 1.2 class 'balance' changes.
  2. No it doesn't say healing is fine at all or TTK is fine, the problem here is the spec distribution in the Warzone was totally wrong, far too many healers. Too many healers in a Warzone and thus too many heals being thrown out and not enough dps, does not mean healing is op at all and that is something some people got wrong before 1.2 came out with nerf cries. Before 1.2 came out you would see people say stuff like 5 healers on the same side in a warzone and couldn't kill anything or the healers were unkillable with cross healing and call for nerfs to healers when that isn't the problem at all... Games where you get one or two healers per side is totally different to five If they can, they need to limit the amount of healers per side, that's the problem here, that's what needs addressing...
  3. Adding 8 people queues is fine, but you need to make sure they NEVER EVER go up against a pug. Something like premades of 3+ players can only go up against other premades of 3+, but a group of two can be put in either solo or premades, to help fill teams. It would mean pugs at most can only go up against a group of two, it should be how it is now actually, even without queues of 8
  4. Yep agree, Solo or premade play ain't the problem, it's mixing them that is. PvE players don't want to be forced into PvPing and vice versa, the same thing applies to solo queue players and grouping, you can't force those that prefer to solo queue to group... I guess something like the following would be ok : Premades of 3+ players can only go up against other premades of 3+, but a group of two can be put in either solo or premades, to help fill teams.
  5. Agree with the op... While Warzone PvP is good, it isn't enough and shouldn't be the main PvP, it's secondary and for variety, like in Warhammer, same with rated warzones, it will be a good addition, but it's still secondary compared to big scale RvR PvP. Also as it stands the Warzones don't have enough variety in themselves, need something like an Alterac Valley, bigger participant numbers ( full ops at least would be good ) and map size, different objective type etc and of course more Warzones in general, so we have a good rotation. Primary PvP needs to be big scale objective based stuff, stuff that will last hours, fort sieges and stuff like that, like in Warhammer, it also creates a great community with multiple warbands/ops working together. While I ain't interested in Arena myself, who is the best or best group etc, I don't mind it being in the game as long as they don't get stat gear, only get titles and appearance stuff and no more and isn't a priority, big scale RvR should be the number one aim.
  6. Yep I have said on these forums myself that if Warhammer failed and yet the PvP was a heck of a lot better, with tiers, more variety and depth etc, then no way is the PvP currently in TOR going to keep people satisfied. Warzones are only good for variety, it can't take the mantle as the main PvP, rated Warzones IS NOT ENOUGH, you need big scale stuff, forts and stuff as the primary PvP, I hope for Biowares sake that they are working very hard on this as a priority, along with the rated warzones until RvR stuff is done. As it happens my best memories from PvPing was in Warhammer, late night fort defences where we were outnumbered, but due to less being on it wasn't a zerg or anything and instead lots of little skirmishes, was like a warband versus a warband and a half or so. In some we held off the higher numbers, others the tank wall broke on the stairs if we didn't have enough tanks or a few died, resulted in little skirmishes on the multiple levels of the fort until you finally rout the other side against the odds, of course you lost in some, but they were still fun. Hope something is done for those that want more than 8 v 8, the Warzones themselves need more variety that way, something like an Alterac Valley.
  7. Yeah agree, When you look at a game like Warhammer, which did have some great things, it still failed, yet the PvP was far better in that game than in TOR, I personally have some great memories from that game. Great memories like late night fort defences, a warband versus a warband and a half at least and we managed to hold them off against the odds on the stairs, others where the tank wall broke due to not enough tanks or a couple died and resulted in little skirmishes all over the multiple levels of the forts, but we still managed to rout them after a hectic and fun fight. If that game failed, then no way the PvP in TOR will succeed as it stands, BW have a lot of work to do and they can't take too long to go about it, also they need to listen to the feedback offered, some great ideas and lastly and importantly, keep people informed, like it's our PvP. They can't keep quiet on this, even just releasing what is going to be done, keep the PvPers well informed, that will win some time, at least those that like the plan or are at least willing to give it a try.
  8. Yep feel the same way My personal reason why I will likely leave the game after my sub runs out, is because of the lack of 'big' scale and meaningful PvP. Big scale PvP, like forts and getting to raid the enemy city in Warhammer, went for hours and with multiple warbands working together for the duration, even though that game could have done things better, people still participated and it created a great community. Warzone type PvP is good for variety and a change, but it can't take on the mantle as the main PvP, certainly when they are just 8 v 8 and no Alterac Valley type Warzone with bigger numbers etc
  9. Haven't played my Combat Medic since just before the nerfs were announced myself, just been playing alts to finish some class stories etc Had planned on taking a small break from my Medic and starting to play it again just before 1.2 went live, to get back up to scratch, but the nerfs killed that and my motivation. Predicted that the increase to dps and the nerfs were taking it too far the other way and it seems to be the case from what I have read. Higher dps being thrown out already meant a loss of survivability and more healing would be needed, that alone would effect the ammo situation, add the nerfs and it was going too far. Actually stopped pvping altogether however, with the 1.2 changes part of the reason, a few Warzones and no bigger scale ones at that like an Alterac Valley, just isn't enough to keep me interested after doing them so many times ( Warzones are only meant to be secondary PvP and for a change up ), prefer big scale PvP which sadly TOR doesn't have and it's the MAIN PVP. The combination of no big scale fort like PvP and the nerfs to my Medic was the last straw and I did unsub aswell, however I did resub for another month to transfer my characters and to finish some class stories I hadn't finished in time before my sub was about to run out. Have quite a few days left after the free month was then added, who knows 1.3 may be close by then and with some much needed additions announced. Stuff like class balance better than it is now, crafts improved, a lot more craftable orange gear 1.2 promised and didn't deliver, prob to get more resubs ( where are the new schematics for amor and synth ? ) and a bigger scale full ops Warzone added with good objectives for example, to keep you going until big scale PvP re-introduced, it may keep me resubbed and bring my Medic out of retirement.
  10. After seeing quite a few people miss the transfers for whatever reason, it would be good to have a second round. It would only be a positive thing, creates some goodwill etc
  11. Obviously in a one v one situation in which you quoted a part of my reply, it would mean no taunt/guard lol But since you brought that up ( which I wasn't talking about ), that is all fine and good in premades, but not everyone does premades, could be for any number of reasons, but when you do solo queue you can forget guards and stuff most of the time and you get little help. You can't nerf based on just premades or because of class/spec warzone make up, premades and solo play is very very different. You still see comments asking for healers to be nerfed because a wz had 4 or 5 healers, don't people realise that the problem does not lay at the class being op, but at the class/spec make up for warzones Fix the warzones, not the class that was fine already
  12. Guess the op shouldn't be surprised about the often over used 'l2p' comments, you get them even when the complaints are legit. Of course it's no surprise dps will not agree with him, they like being kings which 1.2 brought about, even now you still get posts from dpsers calling for even more healing nerfs Combat Medics were always a weak one v one class, easy to shut down, no escape ability at all and 1.2 would only have made that even easier...
  13. Some people are only trying to help, trying to help the game not become f2p in the nearish future because it failed, whiners and crybabies isn't fair... The game is losing subs left right and centre, PvPers are trying to give ideas that will help stop that, but we can only go so far, it's up to the devs whether they listen to the 'paying' customers or not.. I have recently unsubbed myself, few friends I played the game with left a while ago because of the PvP situation, same reason I eventually did, but the fact I still post means I haven't fully given up on the game and hope it will be fixed. Sure the nerfs to my Combat Medic played a part, but it was the lack of big scale fort type PvP, proper objectives, PvP that lasted hours like in Warhammer, that is the main reason why I unsubbed, the nerfs were just the final straw. I knew the combination of increased damage through multiple sources, expertise mainly and the huge healing nerfs, was taking it too far, even said it a few times hoping BW would see it, ultimately the PTS proved to be bug testing and no more like others said... The expertise changes were enough on it's own, increased damage already meant more healing needed which would effect resources like ammo/heat and survivability going down. The moderation of constructive posts doesn't help it has to be said, seen a few good PvP related threads trying to save the game get closed/deleted before I got the chance to post in them. Edit* I think Bioware didn't realise PvP would be such an important part of the game to so many people, it has ultimately put them on the back foot and behind the 8 ball as they didn't put enough effort and or resources into this part of the game.
  14. Didn't take a genius to know that the combination of increased damage through multiple sources and the huge healing nerfs, would result in the mess we have now. Just the expertise changes would have made the job harder for healers with much more damage being put out, both to ammo/heat etc situation and survivability, the nerfs on top of that was only ever going to take it too far and some people, myself included, said it before 1.2 went live... BW as usual didn't listen and those that said PTS changes were final and for bug testing and nothing more, were proven right:(
  15. What a stupid comment, you can't force everyone to go premade just because you do and just because they don't want to or can't for whatever reason, it doesn't make them a bad player I have done a mixture myself, more solo though and yet I never saw another Combat Medic or it's mirror heal near my pb in a WZ I was in, guess everyone is bad, solo players are bad afterall right As it happens those I did do some premades with rarely log on at all now and with server transfers to aussies servers coming up, I wouldn't want to waste the time of a guild knowing I would be leaving shortly, both legit reasons why solo play has happened more often than not. Fact is you can have the best class balance out of all mmo's, but if you allow premades with vent, teamwork and coordination etc to go up against pugs, then all that is for nothing. Premades v pugs is a bigger difference than class balance ever would be ....
