  1. I'm not sure if this has already been posted but this is probably my favorite line in the game so far - and it was said by the awesome Talos Drellik during one of his story conversations! Gotta watch it to believe it ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BrIuGOohDU
  2. I haven't read every post in this huge thread but what I'd like to see, in case it hasn't been suggested yet, is for free (manual) transfers from US servers onto APAC servers to be offered again for a limited time (like Bioware offered when the APAC servers initially launched) - I know a lot of Oceanic players that either missed the original transfer window or didn't want to transfer at the time for whatever reason (and so are still playing on US servers) that would LOVE another opportunity to move to the APAC servers. They can offer that for 2/3/4 weeks to see if that helps to bolster the populations (a little) on the APAC servers - after that we can still look at server merges if populations still aren't to a comfortable level. The only other solution that wouldn't involve players losing their character names (which some have had since launch) is to market the game more in the Oceanic region in order to simply get more players playing the game on the APAC servers...
  3. I just thought of something else I DESPERATELY wanted back before the companion hide helm option - an adaptive/orange version of the Merciless Combat Headgear! It's just a simple little headset that extends around your cheek - I wanted that SOOOO BAD on my agent, he would have rocked that out! Sample Pic #1 Sample Pic #2
  4. I would pay an obscene amount of money to look like the dark side vendor on the Imperial Fleet: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/131/screenshot2012011400511.jpg http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/323/screenshot2012011400520.jpg Or, at the VERY LEAST, I (and undoubtably many of your future FTP players) would expect to find this marauder armor added to the game ASAP (these screenshots were taken from YOUR OWN ARMOR TRAILER): http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/4179/sithwarrior1.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/803/sithwarrior2.jpg I imagine there will be many new players when FTP launches - they would be getting excited like I was before the game launched and watching every official trailer out there to see what to expect when they get into the game. If they choose the marauder advanced class they would be expecting to look like the marauder in the official warrior armor progression at some point and end up being as disappointed as I was when I found out that look was actually impossible for marauders to achieve...
  5. They have made every account on the PTS a FTP account for testing - don't worry, it doesn't affect anything on the live servers...
  6. I just did - with all mods removed, the empty shell still retains the same minimum level requirement
  7. I posted this in http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5313300#edit5313300 but I thought I'd post it here too What I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to see on the Cartel Market was empty customisable armor that was bound to your legacy and could be worn from level 1 onwards (like the current legacy armor) - I was even hoping to find some of the great looking armor that is currently in game but only worn by NPCs. What I really liked in [the other game that shall not be named] was you could buy a piece of "heirloom" gear that could be sent to your fresh alt then worn from level 1 all the way to cap so you could look uber as you were running around your starting zone (as well as the other bonuses you get from wearing that armor) - when you finally replace that armor with endgame gear you could just mail the armor piece to another alt and start the process again. I kind of understand them wanting to put gear complete with mods up for sale on the Cartel Market but I would much prefer them just remove the mods, remove the min level requirement and sell it like that so people could put them on at level 1 to strut their stuff from the word go On another note, I just noticed all of the wearable equipment up for purchase on the Cartel Market is actually artifact quality gear - meaning free players would have to buy the armor then buy a licence to actually wear it... Ouch...

  9. I just noticed on the in-game information for "Authorization: Artifact Equipment" it says that it applies for story and PvP artifact gear - I saw that as meaning the "authorization" for wearing Operations gear comes with the Operations pass (seeing as though you can't even get into the instance without the pass). It would be truly aweful to make a free player pay to get into the operation then pay AGAIN to use anything they might actually gain from it...

  11. I find http://db.darthhater.com to be really handy for finding out the names of the various companion gifts but the way to do it isn't exactly obvious. You click on the "Companions" menu and choose a companion - each companion has 1 or 2 tabs for "favorite" items and "love" items. The information on which gift type applies to each companion isn't always correct but the part that is correct is the name of each grade of gift. If you browse through the various companion pages for long enough you can find the name ov every gift in the game. I'll have a look later on and see if I can fill in a few blanks EDIT- I found an EVEN BETTER way of finding out the names - I remember looking on http://www.torhead.com ages ago but couldn't find any useful info but I just looked again and found a great resource (maybe they recently added it or I was just blind the last time I looked) Go to Items -> Consumables -> Companion Gifts -> All the gifts are listed grouped by type
  12. I'd LOVE to see a region representative appointed as well - eg, I'm an Aussie so it'd be great to have a person fighting for issues specific to Australia/New Zealand - things like unacceptable maintenance downtimes during our prime time. I feel these issues are shrugged off and dismissed too often because we're a relative minority compared to the stronger voice in other regions. I'd feel a lot better knowing there was a specific person sitting in on meetings pushing forward concerns from the AU/NZ player base so I can be sure our concerns are being heard and acknowledged. That person can then deliver updates to the AU/NZ players directly. I'm sure EU players would love to see something like this as well :-)
  13. Hi all, I am just about to finalise my server transfer request to have some of my characters moved over to one of the APAC servers and I just need one question answered (and I apologise in advance if the question has been asked and answered before): I have 2x lvl50 characters, a sith pureblood Warrior and a human bounty hunter (both have 10k affection with all companions so have unlocked the companion type buffs and the additional +100 presence from having completed 10x companions storylines) - do I need to transfer both of these characters in order to gain the same buffs (as well as the species unlocks) on the destination server? Or if I only transfer the Bounty hunter, will I unlock everything I have ever unlocked on the previous server even though I'm not transferring the characters that originally unlocked them? I wouldn't mind leaving my warrior on the server because I use him to do operations with my current guild but if I don't get the sith pureblood species unlock and the warrior companion unlocks unless I actually transfer that toon I'll move him over as well (and maybe move him back when paid transfers become available).
  14. My lvl50 Bounty Hunter is specced as a tank (the shield tech tree) but geared as a DPS (and using the Ion Gas Cylinder) - it seems to be an AWESOME combination for solo play. I still put out a decent amount of DPS but get some extra survivability from the tanky talents. Of course, when I'm grouped I use combustible gas cylinder or the other dps one (can't remember what it's called ) so I don't build too much threat.
  15. I'm pretty sure an app like this was mentioned at the guild summit (and a few other interviews with devs/staff) - it's something a few of the devs would LOVE to do but it's waaaaaaaaaay down on their priority list. When the "new game" teething issues are all sorted out and the devs can sit back and relax with the knowledge that the game is stable and there are no more breaking bugs that need their immediate attention, I'm sure they'll bring out a mobile app with a few minor (mostly cosmetic) features then add more features over time.
  16. Has anyone tried crafting and reverse engineering this up to purple quality to see if the tooltip actually says "no research available"? I read somewhere that orange schematics are a rare chance from reverse engineering craftable purple items (might be totally wrong though)... /crossfingers
  17. /sigh I don't think I've said, at any point, that Bioware needs to have seperate maintenance times for each region or suggest any solution that involves bringing down some servers for mainenance while others stay online. Even it it were physically possible, I doubt they'd do it because it would be too much hassle trying to co-ordinate the rollout of a new patch across the world compared with their current method of "bring down all servers at the same time then patch them all at the same time". The only suggestion I put forward for Bioware to consider (the rotating maintenance schedule) still has all servers across the globe taken offline at the same time for a mass patch rollout - it just varies the starting time of that downtime each time maintenance is needed. Global downtime at a time to suit US players one week, time to suit EU players the following week etc. I just think handling maintenance that way would avoid any big changes to the way Bioware currently roll out patches (because it still takes every server offline at the same time to patch - it just starts a couple of hours later or a couple of hours earlier depending on which region is due to be catered for that week) but will make a BIG difference to the players most affected by taking the game offline during prime hours. Sure, there will definatly be people upset by the fact they now have to suffer the occaisional time where the game is offline during their prime play time but please spare a thought for those of us that currently experience that EVERY week.
  18. The way I see it, their maintenance staff already come in at obscure times of the night (the maintenance starts at 2:00am their time) so, if anything, I would think the staff would be happy they'd only have to come in at 2:00am once a month. If they can't do some kind of rotating schedule, there must be some other way to reduce the peak-time disruption on some servers - maybe they can bring the maintenance time forward a couple of hours and start it at 11:00pm-12:00am their time? Players in their time zone would lose an hour or 2 of playtime but would reduce the disruption over here by an hour or 2 (but it will also create a ripple affect that will most likely put some other poor region into our situation of full peak-time maintenance). But obviously, no matter how you arrange a global downtime at the same time each and every week, some region is always going to be losing more effective gametime than other regions. The only way around it is to rotate the maintenance times so everyone gets (at least) a taste of pure off-peak downtime. I would LOVE to get a bit more open discussion about this going with Bioware/Devs instead of seeing pages of people saying they don't like it and a post from a Dev saying (effectively) "Sorry about that but that's just the way it is"...
  19. Please believe me when I say I'm not bashing the US population in any way - if I gave you that impression I sincerly apologise. It's basically a fact that EVERY time they needed to take the server down for scheduled maintenance, it's in off-peak times in the US (starting at 2:00am and going to 6:00am-8:00am). I don't doubt they're right when they say the average population across servers are the lowest but it doesn't make it seem any fairer for the people that are scheduled to be disconnected during their peak time week after week knowing that the same region each and every time experience no downtime at all (because the vast majority are asleep). I understand that taking down certain servers at a time would be near impossible to do - I would never expect them to do that. Even if their system did support doing this, it would be a PITA for maintenance staff to co-ordinate multiple downtimes over a 24-hour period for each region and I genuinely wouldn't want them to go through all that hassle. What I'm asking for is a rotating schedule for maintenance so all servers are still taken offline at the same time but the time various to suit a different region each week. For example (please forgive me, I don't know the exact timezones in each region): * Week 1 - ALL servers are brought down for maintenance at 2am US time * Week 2 - ALL servers are brought down for maintenance at 2am Eastern EU time * Week 3 - ALL servers are brought down for maintenance at 2am Western EU time * Week 4 - ALL servers are brought down for maintenance at 2am AU/NZ time * Week 5 - The sequence restarts with ALL servers brought down at 2am US time The above regions are just an example - in all likelyhood, there would need to be more regions included to keep peak downtimes EQUAL AND FAIR. I don't think this would be too much to ask for - it's something they can apply to the same patch-rollout schedule they're already using, it just varies the start time each week.
  20. I think people pretty much understand at this stage that regular maintenance is required and sometimes emergency downtime for patching critical problems are called for as well - the problem I have is that EVERY time maintenance like that needs to happen (whether regular scheduled maintenance or emergency maintenance) ALWAYS happens at a time chosen to impact the US subscribers as little as possible and all other regions need to just accept the scraps we're given. If you need to bring down the servers each week for maintenance, that's fine - but PLEASE don't tailor EVERY downtime to the convenience of your US players only. This problem isn't going away and every maintenance that follows the current schedule (by happening while US players are sleeping and at peak times for other regions) will just be pouring fuel on a fire. We need some sort of rotating schedule of maintenance times so everyone is missing the same amount of peak time - there simply isn't any way to please the whole world all the time but you can, at least, treat all regions equally without showing obvious preference to one over the rest. I just hate feeling like a second class citizen... I DO believe that Bioware have made a brilliant game here and have set some ground breaking precedents (like having actual Oceanic servers) - please set an example for other MMO developers again and offer rotating maintenance schedules so ALL players are treated equally.
  21. I'm still LOVING the idea of a rotating schedule of global downtimes (downtime is in US offpeak one week, EU offpeak next week, AU/NZ/AP off peak the following week etc)... Everyone is happy - Bioware get their planetwide downtime, every subscriber gets the same amount of downtime over the course of a month or so. I guess the only ones that might complain would be the US subscribers because they get ABSOLUTELY NO DOWNTIME at the moment. It seems to be the most fair and equal way to handle global downtimes where multiple timezones are concerned. What do you guys think?
  22. I absolutely understand why Bioware need to bring down all servers at the same time globally to roll out new content/fixes and perform maintenance - to have different downtimes for different zones, they would be doing the same job many times over just to patch all the servers instead of bringing them down once and patch all of them at the same time (not to mention the fact there would be a lot of people that would hop to whatever server is up just to continue playing in some form). What I'm VERY annoyed about is the fact that the chosen downtime for maintenance is OBVIOUSLY aimed at providing the least possible impact for their US subscribers and let all other territories fall where they may. I thought the EU servers were getting a bad run but now it seems like the AU/NZ territories are getting shafted the most. All I'm asking is for them to adjust that downtime to impact all territories EQUALLY - I understand it would be impossible to get the exact same peak/off-peak ratio for every single server/country but at the moment it's COMPLETELY biased towards keeping their US subscribers happy. Their downtime is totally during off-peak times so most US subscribers wouldn't even notice the downtime is there - AU/NZ subscribers have their downtime totally during peak times. I'm not sure about the various timezones across Europe but I get the impression they experience various amounts of both peak and off-peak times. Please adjust the maintenance downtime so everyone gets *some* peak time loss and *some* off-peak loss - this bias towards US subsribers HAS TO STOP! Please understand, this post is not complaining about downtime in general - I understand Bioware need global downtime on all servers and I certainly don't care about missing a couple of hours of playtime each week (as many have said, it's good to have some time off to get things done), I just don't like seeing one group of people catered for while another group is given the scraps - in any form. Thanks all EDIT: I just read the post above mine and found this suggestion I think this would be a GREAT idea - have downtime for all servers be during off-peak time for the US one week, off-peak times for Europe the following week, off-peak times for Asia Pacific the week after etc. Everyone would get an equal turn at having downtime during their peak times...
  23. This is the only thing I remember seeing regarding hoods - it's in the Feb 17th Q&A session:
  24. Please make the livestream mobile device compatible so I can watch on my iPhone while I'm at work! The stream doesn't work through swtor.com/guildsummit or the Livestream iPhone app...
  25. I logged into the new server and reserved my character names as soon as they opened but what I really want to know is what will happen if I "reserve" a legacy name as well. If I login to the new server, power-level a new toon up to 30(ish) and choose the same Legacy name I have on my current US server, what happens when I go to transfer my toons across? Will it see that existing legacy name as already taken and reject the transfer? Or will it "merge" my current legacy toons into the new legacy on Dalborra? I know they haven't worked out how Legacy XP will be handled in the transfer but I can only assume if the same legacy name already exists on the destination server it will end up having all sorts of issues and XP may or may not disappear into the Interwebz Can I get some sort of response from a Dev/CS? Even if it's only "we plan for "XXX" but we're not sure what will happen in the end"... Oh, and I'm getting 17ms latency in rural NSW on a crappy ADSL2+ connection
