  1. Don't get attached. Player population will probably suffer further since GW2 will be pre-launched in a few hours' time. I wish I have more positive things to say like I did earlier in the year, but I have not. The decision is ultimately yours to make.
  2. Nice one! They also do Chinese Mandarin.
  3. It was a pointless exercise, generating more frustration than gratitude. Another bad call.
  4. Yes, agreed. I won't be falling for hyped-up CE editions of games in the future. Didn't buy the CE edition of GW2, eventhough I had the chance. Contented with Digital Deluxe version.
  5. Standard carrot dangling business strategy for keeping customers. Looks like they are desperate. I have two copies of CE, and I don't care. I have unsubbed and will be playing The Game That Pre-Launches Tomorrow. I'd rather spend time and money getting them gems. At least I know what I can get from the shops in That Game since the CE shop in SWTOR has nothing that interests me.
  6. Yes I realise these virtues of GW2. These are some of the the reasons why I have unsubbed from SWTOR and will be playing GW2. (I am the OP).
  7. Yes, I have unsubbed. I made this clear in my original post here. What might make me re-sub will be the P2W items on my list, if they are priced reasonably. Meanwhile, I will be playing GW2.
  8. Nah-trolling is not what the intended purpose of this thread, even though P2W hater would like to think so. The purpose of this thread is to find out if there are other players like me who are partial to the availability of P2W items in SWTOR. There are so many emotionally-charged posts against P2W items out there and I was wondering if this resistance to P2W is purely economical or are there other reasons for it. Judging from the posts, the main factor for the anti-P2W sentiment is economical. Although some posters state that they oppose to players buying what can be earned in-game, the reasons behind this is also economical. Frankly, I think one will buy a P2W article if they can afford it. For example: would you buy a full set of War Hero gear for $1? Most of you will probably say "Take my money"! However, would the same people who would buy it for $1 buy the same item if it was priced at $300? Probably not. So I think there is a divide in the SWTOR community between the haves and the have-nots. These two groups are not age-dependent as I know that there are some well-off students who play SWTOR on a high-spec PC with multiple 32-inch screens. There are players like me who would pay a reasonable amount of money to buy convenience in the game. This convenience increases our enjoyment of the game and probably make us play more or continue to remain subbed for a longer time. There are also other players who deplore the business idea that players can pay for such items and claim to quit as soon as these items are available. These players probably can't afford to buy such an item at the intended price. These are all economic reasons. I am sure that there are players who are strongly against P2W because its against their principles. I respect that, but I am of the opinion that the roots of these principles are purely economic. Why should it bother one if the other player can spend their own money to buy better gear? If one can't afford to buy better gear then one can obtain it by other means, like grinding for it. The end result is the same: time is traded for money. If one is able to afford better gear, but does not want to buy it due to "principles", then be happy and grind for the gear. That way everyone is happy in the game. Now, I know people may have different views than mine, and I respect your views. If I have offended anyone, it is not my intention. I merely want to find out if anyone shares my views on P2W, and I openly welcome differing views, as long as they are expressed in a mature and civil manner ,,, and in accordance to the EULA of SWTOR. May there be peace in the Galaxy.
  9. I bought 2 copies of CE to ensure that I get at least one copy of CE. Its for insurance. I live in an Asian country and at that time Amazon had run out of CE copies. Had to get a relative from a neighbouring country to buy for me. Long story which I discussed in another thread. I knew that the CE store did not have any real money items, but anything can change in an MMORPG. I knew that. XP boosts are P2W for me. And these are the things that I would like to see in any MMORPG.
  10. I agree with Comstrike that the LOTRO community is much better. That's why I have not uninstalled LOTRO and still have some credits left there. Also the LOTRO forums can discuss matters in a mature manner, using logic and reason as opposed to raw emotions. As for me, I can't 100% say that the overall negativeness of the community here in SWTOR forum and ingame did not have any effect on my decision to unsub.
  11. Why should they counter something that is not counterable? See you at GW2 pre-launch!
  12. This thread is not about reworking of zones, its about whether or not one is for or against P2W. If EA thinks people would play for flying mounts, why wouldn't they rework the zones? This would be a business decision. And yes, I am referring to items that are only accessible to CE owners that would give the purchaser advantage over other players in a PvP situation like Warzones or any open world PvP situation. I am not getting off my high horse. I paid for my 2 SWTOR CE games and I want access to exclusive items.
  13. I have unsubbed. Reasons: 1. Guild Wars 2 - I had fun in the beta test weekends and stress tests. Hey-there will be a stress test in a few hours' time! Wooohoo! 2. Boredom - lack of end game content and long waiting times for WZs. 3. Unbalanced PvP classes and unbalanced PvP sides i.e. pre-made teams vs pick up teams 4. Broken promises from EA/BW 5. Lack of exclusive CE store and normal store items, especially P2W items.
  14. BlazingShadow: I consider Quicktravel P2W. Will you be buying Deluxe Quicktravel if offered in SWTOR?
  15. Mebbe you will need to pay Cartel Coins for him?
  16. WarbNull: I consider anything that provides any advantage to the player, whether it saves him time in levelling or enables him get from A to B faster, or it provides him an advantage in PvP or PvE combat, to be P2W items. In other words, anything that gives the player any advantage in the game and are not purely vanity items like non-combative pets or no-stats armour skins are, IMHO, P2W items.
  17. No probs. I respect your point of view. If you read my original post properly, I have already unsubbed. I am currently on my free extra month. I will be playing GW2 at pre-launch and looking forward to their ingame store since I will be saving about $13 from unsubbing from SWTOR. I am from an Asian country and $13 is a lot when converted to my country's currency. I hope I won't overspend there.
  18. LOL! I am Asian. When Ep IV was first shown here in 1977, they probably had a later version which does say "Episode IV: A New Hope" when the upward scrolling blurb started at the beginning of the movie.
  19. Firstly, I am not a troll and I am not writing this thread to get attention. I am an adult Star Wars fan who has seen Episode IV - VI in the cinema when they were first screened. I bought into the pre-launch hype and own two copies of SWTOR Collector's Edition, mainly due to the promised "exclusive" CE Store where I hoped to spend real money to buy "exclusive" virtual items. I stopped playing LOTRO for SWTOR and still have LOTRO credits in my LOTRO account. I loved buying vanity items, pets different seasonal horses that are faster and stat and XP boosts in LOTRO and thought SWTOR would be the same, especially the CE store. I found out early in the game that we the CE store concept was only hype, but I gave BW some months to improve on it. I subbed for 6 month because of this and also because I enjoyed SWTOR at the pre-50 levels. I have just unsubbed due to various reasons which I discussed in another thread. However, I plan to pop in after they start the F2P just to have a look at the ingame store to see if there is any P2W items. If they are good enough, I might re-sub. Specific P2W items I like: PvP Stat boosts PvP XP boosts Exclusive CE armour with stats enhancements Exclusive CE weapons with stats boosts Flying mounts Very fast speeders Cartel coins Datacrons which are difficult to get Does anyone else like P2W items like I do?
  20. Andryah, I have already unsubbed, but not due to no SGRs. Its due to boredom, broken promises and cutting my losses. I don't like lies, especially in a business transaction where I am the customer. And also I had a Gee Whiz of a time playing the new game during beta weekends.
  21. SO...why haven't they implemented it yet? It's nearly autumn 2012. Do they expect subscribers to stick around paying an average of $13 a month to see SGRs? Or will they make a shock announcement when they are about to implement SGRs and get free publicity to woo in new and old players? EA and BW promised a lot of stuff for SWTOR. They also did not apparently make good on some of these promises.
  22. Alison: how much do we have to pay per character for the new level cap?
  23. Personally, I don't think they will incorporate same gender romances. I suspect LucasArts did not give the go ahead. Kids play SWTOR. With the upcoming F2P, more kids will play. They will giggle and tweet about it. Homophobic parents and teachers will get to know. They will probably object, create a fuss. Star Wars will possibly be linked with homosexuality:rolleyes:. and will get a bad name. Its ok for brother and sister to be kissing on the lips, but homosexuality is a big no-no in SW. EA/BW will get the flak. It will come out in the news. EA shares might suffer, and its shareholders will probably get very angry as they see their investment fail further. So, don't bank on SGRs.
  24. SWTOR is now trying to emulate GW2? What's next? Force-sensitive Pandas?
