  1. Since first seeing ANH when I was 6, Ithorians intrigued me very much. Love the backstory (Tales from the Cantina especially) on Momaw Nadon. Also have to say that the jawas were interesting as well. You just knew there was something going on behind the scenes with those guys. Of course Trandoshans ranked high up there after seeing ESB. But absolute favorite species would be Ughnauts. Something about those lil piggies I just like!
  2. Another overlooked option is purchasing the orange hat/boots/gloves from the Social Vendor and modding those. Then just turn on "hide head" so you don't have to see the ridiculous hat. The boots and gloves pretty well blend in if you use "unify colors". I started doing this on all my toons as I leveled them and it has worked out pretty well. Then I just take planetary comms whenever they are offered (unless there is another superior choice) and have fun leveling.
  3. Phew! I thought something was wrong with my character at first. For some reason I couldn't find the piloting skill on him (even though he is 29 and has a speeder and a mount!) Thought maybe that had been bugged but this puts my mind at ease. Well, no problem with a little bug now and then. Thanks for the droid! He looks pretty funny following M1 around. Like a little brudder or a wannabe.
  4. Sometimes when he kills someone, Corso Riggs will say something like "There, now you're dumb, ugly AND dead!"
  5. I consider myself a "casual" player. Over the course of a week, I play about 4 - 20 hrs, depending on what is happening in RL. Been playing since June and have 8 toons I switch between. A toon almost to 50, one at 33, two in the low 20s and several just hitting fleet. One of the things I think they did correctly is the warzones. Allowing players to have a "scaled" pvp experience was brilliant! In SWG, there was no point in trying it until you hit 70 or 80 and you really weren't viable until 90. Problem was that since pvp and pve are different playstyles, it was difficult for a player to "learn" their class competently until they had hit 90 and gotten fully geared. This made it so the "casual" player really didn't do much pvp. The warzones have allowed me to learn my different class skills as I levelled, and that has been great. I feel the closer I get to 50, the more of an asset I am in pvp.
  6. It was definitely an alternate timeline universe. The problem with SWG was that they had one game, did an upgrade to make the combat faster (which borked the animations) and then decided to do an "upgrade" to the careers by narrowing them to 9 profs you started with instead of just learning. It was really almost 2 completely different games from SWG to the NGE and the problem they ran into was the huge spaghetti of code they had to implement on top of. If they were to release the game as it was at the end, with the space content included, it would be huge. However, so many people were turned off by the buggy release (with lack of space content) and the even buggier CU (with buggy space content) that was trumped by the buggy release of the NGE, that they ranted and raved and refused to give it a chance at the end. There were people coming back, and improvements were being made to the game. If they hadn't lost their license, who knows what state it would be in now (they had even introduced atmo flight!). My main problem with it was that there was no way to be competive in pvp until you had completely levelled a character, and that grind to 90 was a killer. If they could do it like TOR, where you can enter a WZ and be autolevelled to compete, it would be even better.
  7. This is not a particularly difficult thing to do. In fact, the emotes may have already been keyed in and they are just giving us "access" to them. While it may not be a big thing, and may in fact be "useless" to some, it is nice that they are expanding the "features" that the game has. For a roleplayer (like me) this is welcome, since it will add to the immersion of our interactions with others.
  8. I logged into the game about 2 hours ago. In that time I have been disconnected from the server at least 6 times. 2X while trying to create a new character. The first time said I had been inactive too long while I was busy customizing the whole 15 mins and the second time just disconnected it for no apparent reason. Bad thing is I was trying to introduce someone new (the wife) to the game and she got frustrated after the 2nd disconnect and said I could just show her later..... I am on Begeron Colony, anyone else having this problem?
  9. You are referring to "Mad about Me" by Fiery Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. And no, you cannot tire of that song.
  10. Well, I doubt the Dark Side really cares about rules and regulations. So there is that.... Plus the Pubbies are more apt to try to make everyone happy, and the noise and pollution from your common speeder is irritating to several species. Best not to upset them, you know...
  11. Probably the main reason for doing this is that the same questions were hitting the top of the list every week. Mostly to do with new content, what is the status on secret space project, etc. And they didn't have any new answers. There were a lot of threads about how they never had anything new to say, and the Q&As were always the same. Or that they were addressing minor questions and ignoring the bigger ones (which they again didn't have answers for). So they decided to cut what alot of people were complainging about.
  12. If you can get ahold of some of the Zayne Carrick GNs, those are pretty entertaining. Also any of the "Tales from..." novels are pretty good. Tales from the Cantina/Jabba's Palace/the Empire/of the Bounty Hunters. What's cool is that they are made up of short stories (the first two based on background characters of their respective locations) that have a common thread running through them, tying them all together. Pretty fun to read and make the movies a bit more interesting as well.
  13. I have played several of the "licensed" mmos (STO, DCUO, SWG) and have to say that this is pretty good for what it is. The amount of content is pretty nice, although I wish there was more of a sandbox feel to it. The crafting is just ok, but I like that you can reverse engineer items to make higher grade ones. What would make the customization perfect would be an appearance tab. There are several helms/chests/pants that I like, but unfortunately will have to abandon/have abandoned already because of "outlevelling" their usefulness. And that's a shame. Overall I really am enjoying the game, and you're right that it is a shame to see so much hate on the boards. But if there is one thing being on MMO forums has taught me, it's that they will be filled with teh haterz, no matter the quality of the game. Someone will always be "predicting" the game's demise, and others will be comparing it to other games. In the end, it really just depends on people who like the game begin as vocal as they can, voting with their dollars, and just keep on playing whilst ignoring the eediots.
  14. What frustrates me is when I hit a "loading zone", say using the fleetpass, and as it times out I see myself ON THE FLEET SHIP for the briefest of seconds, and then I see the loading screen. This is especially bad porting into Warzones. I will see my toon enter the WZ, and then the WZ loading screen takes over. Now maybe it isn't done loading, and needs time to render everything so I don't stand there looking at a bunch of boxes with question marks on them, but come on!
  15. I would definitely appreciate that. Need to see if I have them, if not I know a place I can get some cheap. Do they need to be the original Empire Divided, or will any of the SWG sets work (I had Complete Adventures and Rage of the Wookiees.) I know I can get a set of the JTL disks....
  16. He was looking over but he was still speaking of Luke. Yoda states that he was always looking to the future, that his mind was never on "where he was, what he was doing". What sense does it make to tell Luke those things about Obi-Wan? None at all. Yoda is speaking of Luke, but looking where he perceives Obi-Wan to be at, addressing his comments about having watched Luke to Obi-Wan and then to them both. Why would he watch Obi-Wan a long time? Why would he say that Obi-Wan's mind was never on where he was or what he was doing? Again, that makes no sense, especially if you watch the clip.
  17. Considering that a good portion of those players are probably teenage boys, it makes sense.| Also you can tell the ones who are here for the PvP by their titles. I had a friend that would name her character "Lil Puppies" so that anytime she died in pvp it would say "Chervil killed Lil Puppies". Probably not original, but in Battlefront it was hilarious to see that flash across the screen. My trooper is RCNull (phonetically "arsenal") but it fits his rp backstory and is more than just a random title. What I find annoying is when you see names like IronMan, Spiderman, Wolverine, etc. whether spelt correctly or not. But I am sure every one of these occurances is intentional and yes, it does show a lack of creativity.
  18. I will say that the main reason I am here is because they shut down SWG. Loved that game, and love playing in the SW universe! I have played STO, DCUO, PotBS (among others) but none of them have given me the feeling of satisfaction I get when playing in the SW universe. I really enjoyed the KotOR series (games and comics) and think this game does a good job of capturing that feel. This game may not be perfect, but I am having a blast playing it! And to me, that's worth the price of admission...
  19. Something that bugs me from RotS: So Palpatine has just dispatched 4 members of the Jedi council (with a little help from Anakin.) Yoda and Obi-Wan sneak onto Coruscant, fight their way past the 501st into the Jedi Temple, to discover via the security tapes exactly what had happened. Now, they know there are two sith and that they are very strong in the force. Yet, Yoda, knowing Palpatine bested 4 of the best Jedi in the galaxy singlehandedly, decides they should split up and take them one on one. Why split up to fight them? If they had both faced Anakin, they could have beaten him. Sure, that left Palpatine in power, but they could have dealt with him later. If they had both gone to the Senate Chamber, they could have probably killed the Palpatine. Remember Yoda had fought him to a draw as it was, only deciding to retreat because he lost his lightsaber, his footing and the advantage. He probably sensed the Senate Guards en route to find out what the fracas was all about. He was about to be seriously outnumbered. Obi-Wan beat Anakin handily, but instead of hanging around to make sure he didn't survive, he made the mistake of just taking off. Which also seems a bit off to me. I know the jedi only kill when necessary, but he had killed countless troopers from the 501st just to get into the Jedi Temple. Wouldn't running his lightsaber through Anakin have been a mercy killing? Instead, he left his best friend to die an agonizing death. Burning to death, lying on steaming lava rock, on fire and possibly asphyxiating. Does that seem like the kind of thing a Jedi would do?
  20. Well, yes it is common knowledge now, but at the time it wasn't. When ESB came out, my friends and I had several lively discussion over who the "other" would be, and the agreed consensus was that it had to be Han. Lots of holes in that theory, but then again, we were 10. At any rate, the kiss can be explained off since they didn't know at the time. This has happened in real life countless times. And I know GL hadn't decided they were siblings until he was making RoTJ. Actually most of the other conflicts between the three movies can be explained away. Especially using Obi-Wan's "certain point of view" reasoning. However there is no way to explain this one away. It is, in my mind, a detail that should have been paid more attention to.
  21. Again, wrong. If you remember, in RoTJ, Yoda specifically tells Luke that "when gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be." When the movie came out, there was no Kyle Katarn, no other Jedi at all. Luke was it. Which is why it was so imperative that he not fail. That's why when Luke told Obi-Wan that he couldn't kill his father, Obi-Wan said that the Emperor had already won. There was no one else to stand against them. Period. GL allowed the EU to throw in "surviving hidden jedi" at some point, but it was not the original plan. I know that Yoda was worried about Luke's training being incomplete. That they were worried he wasn't ready to face Vader. He obviously wasn't because Vader toyed with him, only holding back from killing him because he hoped that Luke would join him against the Emperor. I am old enough to have seen all three in the theatre. Originally, the understood reason for Yoda not being able to see the future clearly is because it is always in motion. Little decisions changing events continually. I also know he was fairly old and frail, but remember that they weren't going to face the Emperor who had fought him to a standstill, they were going to face Vader. Vader was crippled and had lost much of his speed and fluidity as well. Look at his fight with Obi-Wan, it is obviously the duel of two men way past their peak. Doubtless Obi-Wan would have given that information to Yoda. Remember that the main reason Obi-Wan died is because he sacrificied himself so the Falcon could escape, and to keep Luke from running over to try and help him fight Vader. It would have endangered both Luke and Leia, the Death Star plans could have been recovered and Vader may have sensed the force in Luke. Luke probably would have said something stupid like "I'm Luke Skywalker, you killed my father, prepare to die!" and we know how that would have turned out. At any rate, Yoda and Luke could have easily handled Vader together. Which is another niggling point I will bring up in a different post, about Yoda and Obi-Wan..... But I appreciate your thought on the matter.
  22. As far as worst movie moment goes: I could restate Qui Gon saving Jar Jar, among other things. But one that has always stuck with me as a monumentally bad moment is when Luke leaves Dagobah in his X-Wing. Yoda and Obi-Wan know that Luke is heading to Bespin to face Vader. They know he is going there to "save his friends". Now, Yoda stated when he met Luke that he had "watched this one a long time." That's how he knew he was impatient. Doubtless he was doing the same with Leia. He knew what she looked like. When he looked into the future of Luke's friends (which included Leia) he stated that the future was cloudy. But he surely would have recognized that Leai was one of the ones Luke wanted to save. He even told Luke that he "could" save them, but he would destroy everything they had worked for. So he admitted there was the possiblity Leia was in mortal danger. That she needed "saving". So as Luke is lifting off, and Obi-Wan tells him Luke was their last hope, Yoda casually tosses out "No, there is another." Meaning Leia. Who, incidentally, Luke was heading off to save. Did he not think that this was important??? How did he expect them to utilize this "other hope" if Luke failed, which could have ended with one or both of them dying? Or possibly Luke turning to the dark side and now Leia has to fight Luke and Vaderand Palpatine (assuming Luke and Vader hadn't already killed Palpy). Why didn't Yoda insist on going? Surely he was small enough to sit on Luke's lap until they at least got to a station and could transfer to a bigger ship? But it's kind of like locking your keys in your car and saying "oh, it's ok, I have a spare", when the spare is in the trunk...
  23. Except she also just had two kids. While she may have been shocked and horrified by what he had done, maternal instict should have kicked in at some point. Knowing that Anakin had just killed a bunch of kids, knowing the monster he was becoming, don't you think she should have thought about the future the twins would face? Sure, she probably trusted Kenobi, Yoda and Bail to handle things, but it was pretty selfish to decide that protecting the kids wasn't worth living for. The safety of those two should have given her "the will to live". Instead, she decides to name them and then "give up".
  24. Even Piell. Dude had one eye and a topknot. Face was all scarred, ears were nicked and notched from countless battles. This little guy was tough and scrappy. And every shot he was in he looked like someone had just pissed him off. I was disappointed we didn't see more of him.
  25. Second on Timothy Zahn. I would especially enjoy seeing a few "side" movies that deal with the Hand of Judgement boys. Vader is easily enough duplicated, the Emperor shouldn't be too hard, and if you just stay away from the big 3, you shouldn't have much trouble. Definitely let Joss Whedon direct. I always felt Firefly had the feel of how a Star Wars series would have been. Please keep Michael Bay away from it. Anyone that can take something as awesome as the Transformers, and have access to the CGI he did, and still churn out the garbage he did doesn't need to be anywhere near this franchise. GL has done enough damage on his own, thank you very much....
