  1. I would say keep about 4 to 4.5GB free for your system and SWTOR. Keep background programs to minimum and you can use quite some for the ramdisk. I would go for char animations before map, but just try it out yourself.
  2. Good to hear the progam works correctly now, but the chat delay I did not noticed anything about that on my own system. The most used (read) asset files are probably still the fx and dynamic asset file. I only have seen the last boss of Denova so I have no answer or what asset file that might be. Like I pointed out and others aswell, you can easy see diskactivity in Windows and determine which asset files are used in a certain senario.
  3. With that amount of ram he can even place quite some gamefiles on a ramdisk that increases performance even more. Damn I wish I had that much :<
  4. Well I understand that, but they have to look further than only the damn American market as they released outside that aswell. And seeing that it is already in non-english clients kinda pisses me off with that attitude.
  5. Yea it was intended to reduce the hitching when the game loads data and filling the cache files. Once we started to add asset files aswell people reported FPS increase but not all, it is just trying and see
  6. MOX Desktop parser For both solo as raidsync (top overlay screens so you can play and see stats [windowed fullscreen]) Cheers
  7. Thanks, and good to hear this version is quite stable all around now. As for the assets, I've noted the assets that are most loaded/read by the game. I don't really think the reading is cpu intensive, only you need to know what asset files the game reads in certain scenarios. Btw to all, guess well release 3.0 soon with a very neat GUI as I've seen. So no more ugly oversized placeholder we have currently in version 2.x ;D
  8. Yea indeed that was the intention (but even for high-end systems), but at least I get users that report real fps gains above the load and stability increase.
  9. Even if it does raise the prio, why does it want to start the launcher with this prio. As soon the launcher starts the game (different process, launcher.exe vs swtor.exe) the game runs like normal again.. Just go pro and use a ramdisk to place gamefiles on.
  10. But then it will only start the launcher. The launcher is not the game, after pressing play the launcher will call and start the game, so you only improve the launcher? lol
  11. First off it should be "@echo off" and not "echo @ off" never seen that and does not even function. And second why would you just create a shortcut trough batchfile and even with a /D parameter and without any priority parameters. Thou setting process prio isn't the problem with this game, as cpu is hardly used. You might as well just start it directly with the launcher included. @echo off START "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\launcher.exe" exit Edit; And what the hell it starts the launcher, the launcher starts the game, it is a complete different process than the one the batch starts, this is just bull and just a placebo effect! What really might work, Ramdisk For those that want to try another method, try placing some game files (cache) on a ramdisk that the game normally builds on the harddrive (which is slower). There is a complete automated program for that, or batchscript aswell. Read this thread.
  12. Hello, Did you used 2.8 or 2.9beta, as these two are different in terms of preparing SWTOR with a ramdisk. Then are your settings being saved or not (that is if you reboot your pc and start unleashed again), this can mean you used 2.8 that somehow have difficulties on some pc's. If you used 2.8 and want to test 2.9 first use the remove and quit button on the program 2.8. Remove that program and download 2.9beta2. Use remove and quit on this program as well, because this version can fix missing local folders (I must say you might have lost your settings). Play just normally again without any ramdisk setup and place some settings. After that use and setup 2.9beta and play unleashed and check if settings are still present. Hope this has helped you.
  13. Hi and thnx for taking interest again. For that reason I have tried to change the setup/remove method at v2.9beta. At the moment I am using this and it works good, tough I need a bit more feedback before deciding to roll it out. If you would please test 2.9beta as it does the setup differently from older version, maybe it works now for you. As if you are insecure about your settings, navigate in explorer to; %localappdata% and copy the whole SWTOR folder for example to desktop. In this way you have a backup of all your settings including your UI. If something goes wrong (and please post it here then + log) you can always navigate to local again (after removal) delete that SWTOR folder and copy back your backup, hope this will give bit more confidence @Xaeonis you can try the same (if you read this) as you also had interface save problems.
  14. Hello, Anyone of you users used v2.9beta? I want to know how the new setup/remove works on other systems then my own! For more info about what has changed, and a download, read this post. Thanks.
  15. Thanks for the log, we will look into it, and if you are willing can you try the beta that has a bit of different setup and removal process. read post above yours. Make sure you removed that setup first and be able to play in retail again, before using this newer one. Post of 2.9beta
  16. Hallo all, I have tried to change the way the setup and removal part works now. First off it does not copy settings file to the install location of the game but renames local to SWTOR_ORIGINAL again, just at what I did with the batchscripts. This allows quicker setup aswell. Second, everytime you press unleashed, it will first remove an setup (after mounting it will recreate) I've done this for future patch interception if possible and allowed as the plan is to let you guys login, create ramdrive and disable the launcher [already works], after that reading the log till patching is done, setup and enable launcher again. But to do so we have to keep the program active togheter with the launcher, and you can guess why we are at this point carefull with this, but we will see what happens in the future. Third removal part is independed of the settings file, and will always remove and go back to retail and check retail files before setup. This allows users to change settings even if setup is still active or loss of settings. And at last this program blocks aswell when launcher is active. So when the game or launcher is active it returns an error, because we want to start fresh. This also prevents messing with files while playing. For this I want some people to try it out and give feedback, loggin is enabled by default so if something goes wrong you got the logfiles ready for me already. (Need to test if local app SWTOR renaming to SWTOR_ORIGINAL is accepting correctly now on different systems, version 1.x had some trouble with it). Download 2.9beta2 (Remove setup of 2.8.x first!) Cheers, even if we dont fully implement it, can and will be used for future refferences, thanks.
  17. Hmm will look into it why it can't save, meanwhile you can open SwtorUnleashed.xml and edit the line <Log>false</Log> to <Log>true</Log>. Using the program will create a logfile that shows all actions and errors. If you do this, run Start Unleashed and post the log between SPOILER tags, so we can have a look at it. Thanks in advanced. For the UI, we know and I can tell you it is only a placeholder, as Exca changed the underlying architecture to split UI from the program. On (hopefully) an awesome UI is being worked on by infographics, while me and exca were fixing bugs all around during that.
  18. Been there for quite some time, started with automated batchscript. I am working now with finalizing a c# program. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=394951
  19. Ok in that case it is identical to me, but I can still access the ramdrive. Tough it is weird that it uses more ram after starting unleashed again it should be detecting ramdisk is active and just skip the mounting, will look into that. Some commands that might help; Force dismount imdisk -D -m R: If it might not work by giving mountpoint, get the disknumber and then dismount it by this number; imdisk -l imdisk -D -u disknumber Maybe this will help, and meanwhile we look further into this, thanks.
  20. This can happen sometimes, even with me at some occasions. Still looking into it but it's kinda hard. Imdisk has two things, ramdisk and mountpoint, and the program have to remove them both. In your case the ramdisk got removed but the mountpoint ® stayed active, and that had no location hence the ?. As far as I know, as long as you don't want to play, you can just leave it that way (as the ram is freed). I am not sure what happens if you try to start unleashed again, will have to test it. But then again maybe next time it will be removed correctly. Thanks for the feedback though.
  21. By default there is nothing on the ramdrive you have to click settings and there you can select what you want on the ramdrive (depending on what amount of ram you got to use). While selecting files an info box will show the required ram as ramdisksize. Once you selected the files, just press the save button. Then you can start unleashed so the program can mount the ramdisk and create the needed files (assets, linkbacks ect). Never had pink textures or any missing objects in the game while playing with the ramdisk. I think one or multiple asset files links were not correct or after a reboot and creating ramdisk forgotten to place the asset files again on the ramdisk (this program does all this for you, only keep in mind if you want to stop using, I mean in removing the program, you use either run retail or remove and quit option).
  22. Hmm I can open the link correctly in both Firefox as well in IE. Maybe Dropbox was down a bit, can happen.
  23. Should be, settings are only copied there if you add local cache to the ramdisk. Also if you play and look at the ramdrive, (R:\SWTOR\swtor) there should be two cache files created. Additional the DiskCacheArena and any asset files are placed in the root of the ramdisk. So if you got those ure good.
  24. Thanks I'll keep that into account. For now me and Exca want to have a good base and GUI (which is being worked on by some people (friends?) Exca asked. Tbh I am quite new to C#, but quite addaptive and picking up programming langues quicky (the basics). Exca already proven me that he knows quite allot more than me as he redisigned my base code. Anyway we want to release it more publicly when we got the GUI in aswell. But I might say it now what I had in mind so maybe you can check it out. Everytime an user (or program) startes the launcher, it creates a log (installpath\log) it shows userinteraction aswell patching. My idea is; user presses unleashed, ramdisk will be mounted if needed, setup will be removed if needed. Meanwhile this user can login in the launcher, we can read out logs. When logs states done patching (will be twice a session) our program has to quickly setup and close itself. This prevents people forgetting removing to patch, and receiving errors and repair options.
