  1. GW2 will be the greatest MMO ever released. GW2 will revolutionize the industry from release forward. GW2 will usher in a new golden age for the MMO. All quality MMOs will fall in line with its "innovation" and greatness. So Say We All....
  2. WOW clone equals WOW graphics... I dont see why you re so jaded? Didnt know you were buyng an MMO with 8 year old technology? Next Gen MMOs are around the corner. GW2 coming soon. Hopefully.
  3. The Future of SWTOR is it will still be here and it will probably do well. But the game will end up being for "them" or "that type of person." By that I mean it will be shunned by most of the MMO world and will not be considered "worthy" of the real MMO player. It will be the MMO for the people who dont know what an MMO is. Just my speculation.

  5. I would prefer that world also, but I think the costs would have been too high for Bioware.
  6. In retrospect, I am going to believe that the Dev meeting did not start with "What do the Traditionalists want in an MMO?" Right or wrong, I think it started with "what is going to make the most box sales out the door." Keeping up sub fees is the second priority.
  7. My MMO history starts with a game called Gemstone that was all text based. Later it evolved with games such as UO, EQ, WOW, etc. on up to the present. I think there are many people who fall into a similar category- I am going to refer to them as Traditional and myself as Traditional. I have a coworker that has a Slave Leia cosplay outfit (looks really good also.) She has pictures of herself from various Cons and Pax. Her and her husband collect all sorts from rare Star Wars stuff etc... For her, SWTOR is her first MMO. When I have tried to discuss other MMOs her, we havent really been able to carry on discussions about PVP, Auction houses, and other MMO related topics. She is not versed in MMOs. I am going to refer to her as Non-Traditional. I say all of the above to say this: I think Star Wars fans have flocked to this game in droves, many without any real MMO history. These Non-Traditional MMO players are loving this game and do not have the MMO expectations or experiences to make comparisons. I think the Non-Traditional people wont be disgruntled by No Sandbox, Outdated graphics, etc for this reason. The Star Wars universe is a story. They are used to seeing a story, so I think the cutscenes are very appealing. I would wonder how important a Guild Bank would be to them for example? On the otherside, I think the Traditional MMO player is the player rushing to end game, prepping up for raids, thinking about gear grind etc., looking to start playing the AH, wondering why there is no Guild Bank etc. I think the bulk of complaints that hit the forums are from the Traditionalist and while they are valid, I also think they may not make a bigger percent than the Non-Traditionalist. Just something to think about.
  8. Mon Calamari, I mean thousands of people yelling "Its a Trap" before every boss fight. That would be awesome.
  9. Ill argue this one. The technology of this game is 7 years old at least. Showing still pictures of cutscenes and saying "Oh look how good this cutscene looks" doesnt mean anything. Lets consider live action gameplay with multiple players with a game coming out this year. http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DH7qeAWpaT3U&start1=0&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D_1JfSbKjHHI&start2=125&authorName=Ativan
  10. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/firstperson/9314-How-The-Old-Republic-Didnt-Change-MMOs.2 So 2 weeks after release and the media starts in with the same complaints?
  11. It won alot of awards for best MMO of 2011... lets see it has been out how much of 2011? Lets see what 2012 has to say?
  12. Oh wow you are the master of percents. We should have come to you first. What was I thinking? I love it when fanboys just make numbers up as if they actually know something.
  13. Why does one of the most volcanically active places in the world feel compelled to buy fireworks? Weird...
  14. Its average game, they should have worked out the bugs before release though.
  15. This forum is the most fun, its like the drama you d get if you mixed Star War nerds with the Jersey Shore cast. The forum alone is worth my 15 bucks a month.
  16. The Bioware Bashing gets old we already know what we know. Yes, this is not an next gen MMO Yes, its was made with an outdated graphics engine Yes, it is a quest grinding game with no innovation No, it is not a sandbox Yes it was released before bugs were fixed. In Bioware's defense they are in this to make money and they needed to make the Christmas sales window. Yes, it feels like a single player game. Yes, this game is easy, it does cater to casuals (this is no real surprise) Yes, there is no real endgame content, (dont rush your way to 50) Yes, it is lacking Guild bank and other basic features of an MMO Now we can focus on more of its positives. Its a Star Wars game You have lightsabers You have a great single player story
  17. There are more US subscriptions. From a business stand point, when having to choose to inconvenience someone it is going to default to the places with less customers. I would expect no less if I were playing a predominantly European MMO. I dont know why Europeans feel it is necessary to play the victim card here.
  18. Lets see what GW2 Devs said: Then lets compare it to Bioware
