  1. The problem is players, not system. Really, if you get rewards for killing other players and they get for killing you, why in the world would you give them a chance to gain that rewards? Must be a PvE server

Players will always do what is best for them. You stop them by implementing a system that stops or makes it harder for them.

Expecting players to not do this is stupid and will never work. It is like expecting people to turn in money they found on the street. Never going to happen.

To avoid stuff like this you need the system to give diminishing returns or code it in so it won't work. Maybe change objectives etc.

A player shouldn't be questioning if a playstyle is "morally" correct. They should follow the laws of the game.

  2. The highest grossing MMO opening of all-time has sales less then expected, 2 million. wowo what did they expect 5 million?

This is what I am wondering as well. All we have heard is that is has sold more than any MMO in the first weeks. What were the expeceted sales?

  3. If you think this is a prob for DPS try healing. The lag i can live with but when an ability does not go off and you still get a GCD is just plain frustrating. The number of times i have just stood there watching as someone dies, while getting yelled a because i'm "not healing". In MMO's there tends to be a shortage of heals and tanks, this issue does not help matters. Going off topic for a moment, this is why this game is not ready for DPS or heal meters.

I bet the meters were taken out because they would reveal this problem almost immediately.

  4. Maybe I'm missing something, but where are the 500-300k numbers coming from?

Seems to me like some arbitrary numbers based on the server screen alone, which is in no way indicative of the actual population. (e.g. 10,000 players on a 100,000 capacity server, is the same number of players as 10,000 players on a 10,000 cap server, though one may show as light, the other full)

You do understand the server capacity was increased over time right? Thus many servers went from Full, to Heavy, and some to Medium/Light, simply due to the capacity change, and not a change in actual players.

If this is the case, tinfoil hat indeed. Play another game if you're unhappy with this one.

This I agree with. Atleast it has logic to it.

And I am not saying that because I am a fanboy, I quit this game weeks ago due to its suckyness.

  5. For you it is .5, for level 50s... it can range to 3-4 seconds, a MUCH bigger of a difference. As a 50 tank, I have done nothing but improve my gear... imagine being stuck in a near infinite loop of defense animations, to the point your quickest action is being executed in literally 3-4 seconds (Sometimes longer.) and the better your gear gets, the worse it gets.

Don't worry, BW probably has a fix already!

    Patch 1.11

    - Gear is made worse due to ability delay

  6. Game-breaking to me means when you start to question wanting to play at all due to the bugs. Ability delay might work for some who doesn't consider it game-breaking, but that doesn't mean it isn't game-breaking for others.

I wonder how stuff like this can exist when it has been beta tested soo long. Didn't they test stuff?

  7. This patch made me giggle since I quit the game two weeks ago. But really it is only sad. I wouldn't wish this mess on anyone.

It is strange though that something soo obvious can happen. First thing you do when you implement something new is to think "How would I try to exploit this if it were possible?". Just think like a bad guy and you wouldn't release stuff like this. Guess the devs aren't playing the game.

  8. If by "America" you mean UNITED STATES of AMERICA then you are correct. "America" is not a country it's a CONTINENT!!!

It amazes me how most of us keep making the same mistake (presidents included).

I think most consider it America and Canada, which makes USA the America part. Not really correct but what can you do. :p

  9.

Great work there. Bioware should make you head of PR.

Actually I think Hubalualub has that job already. He is also head of CS. He can't speak english and has never played the game, but he can close your tickets and smile sweetly.

  10. madness to pretend SWTOR has brought anything to the MMO genre . IT a 100% complete copy of WOW but with star wars graphics and sound.

It's a very good game as it copied a very good game , and copied it well.

But at the end of the day if your bored of WOW i dont seee how this can not bore you quickly as its exactly the same stuff all over again.

i'll probably level 2 chars over 2 months and teh quit. The gear grind treadmill is not for me , been there done that.

I guess we will have to disagree that they copied it well. With the time they had to copy it they did a very poor job on most mechanics.

  11. You know if Bioware released the patch before hand some of the whiners would have wailed.

"OHHH Bioware is trying desperately to patch and add content to keep people from quitting!!!!!"

No matter what they do it isn't enough to some people Bioware is in a no win situation...so they say to hell with it and do what's best for the game..there are a couple things that needed tweaking so they held off and I applaud them for that.

This doesn't make sense. Nobody would have flamed BW for patching the game too early. Sure, they might have said BW did it to keep people from quitting, but nobody would have thought it was the wrong thing to do. BW's job right now should be to fix the game asap.

  12. No, it's more like stockholders demanded a return on their investment. SWTOR was already over two years late.

They might make money on TOR, but I will probably never buy an EA/BW game again. They might have gotten the quick return... but I think they lose in the long run with games like this.

  13. It's a good scam. Buggy game, 1/2 a dozen bug fix's in 30 days only. And now the first major patch to address all this is oddly enough delayed to just at or beyond the renewal time frame. I call BS. There doing this on purpose. I'm quite frankly tired of all the excuses. I don't pay for excuses. I'll pay for results. But every day i check the forums, and everyday its simply more corporate pandering and excuses from bioware. You want my F'in money, support your f'in product beyond simply providing me bandwidth. This is not an mmo, have fun a 50. There's nothing there. And don't tell me blah blah blah rush. If taking a week off at christmas and playing 4-6 hours a day for 5 days gets me to 50 is called 'rushing'. You guys are just awful at your design process. Space sucks, crafting sucks, ui/galactic market sucks, another stupid daily mission system (yawn), linear boring quest hubs and planets. Whole dam game feels like its only rails. Exploration? Pvp?

Calm down. You don't want a heart attack do you? :p

But you are absolutely right imo. I feel kind of sad for BW though. They must have alot bigger problems than a few bugs if they can't do more to get this game right. Maybe it is the hero-engine that is making it hard to fix stuff. It is hard to patch something that is inherently broken.

  14. People cry now and rage quite. But the game will only get better, and people will come back

Some might come back if the game gets alot better and players start praising it. It is more likely though that the first impression will stick with you and you will instead chose a new MMO that hasn't burned you. There are alot of MMO out there to chose from.

The problem with releasing a game too soon is that the first impression lasts.

  15. Then you must remember how raids werent even in at release along with many other things...ahh the clouded memories.

So my point stands then, they arent BROKEN as you said. They just arent what you were expecting of them. :p

It took alot longer to level up and eplore in WoW. MC and Onyxia was in the game when I started raiding. I am not sure if they were in at the start but there was never a wait for end-game content.

And as to broken. A thing might fuction as intended and still be broken. When there is no use for it, like most crafting, then it is broken. Just take Elara Dorne for example. Her "carbonized stream" reset every time I got on the speeder, zoned or whatever. It was practically useless and just meant she wasn't healing me or doing something useful. That is a broken mechanic. There are tons of stuff like that in this game that has gotten no care and attention.

  16. Well you clearly didnt play WoW at release then if thats your opinion...

Also what exactly is "broken" about all those systems you listed? They all work fine for me.

AH - works fine, you may want better filtering or linked AHs, but they arent broken they just have a different design decision to what you personally want from it...

Crafting...works fine, i can craft items perfectly fine, some professions are better than others at end game, but they arent broken, they work perfectly fine.

PVP/PVE broken? Yeah theres some bugs, they arent broken though.

I think you may need to learn the definition of broken somewhat.

I started playing WoW when it came out in europe around 15th february, my first server was Shadow Moon if I remember correctly. Raided quite a bit in "Warrior Kittens of Elune"... ahh, the memories.

The AH might work in this game but it is more like a placeholder. It is not very user-unfriendly. You can't even do a free text search or look for "head"-item. I was soo disappointed first time I saw it. Not that is really matters since there is nothing you want to buy from it that you can't easily get elsewhere. Vendor sell gear everywhere, nodes and mats are practically littering the ground.

Crafting is pretty meaningless. There is nothing worth crafting that you actually have use for, except for gearing up your companions. Same there, vendors sell equal gear.

Crewskills are boring as hell. Instead of actually working to max out for example salvaging or slicing or whatever, you just send out your companions to do it for you. If you want mats you send your companions. Why would anyone try and sell stuff when you get if for free basically, without any effort.

Credits are in abundance. If you want to buy something you can practically buy everything you want. It is soo easy to farm credits I doubt we will see many chinese farmers in this game. People will practically give their credit away because they are meaningless.

... well, I could go on about 30 different things, but it isn't worth it.

I hope you enjoy the game... I don't, but not everyone is the same. I just can't stand shoddy half done work like this game.

  17. Ya cuz Blizz MMO's are SOOO polished on release

Compared to this game, yes they are!

Blizzard wouldn't release a game that practically plays like a beta. Stuff like the auction house, crafting, pvp/pve are all broken or meaningless in this game. All games will have some bugs, that is unavoidable, but lacking key systems and features is a big no-no.

TOR would need atleast 6 more months in beta to be worthy of a release.
