  1. To be fair, i watched your stream for like 5 minutes and I knew you were bad.
  2. Well, Pyro "tech" has a lot of of the incendiary tech weapons. Thermal Detonator is a bomb for instance, and incendiary missile is well, a missile, or Super Heated Rail. Its more focused on the "tech" aspect imo, makes sense in my head at least

  4. Because he's prolly seen your stream. lol. I watched it one time and I was looking at his Hotkeys... Its hard to believe that you can be on a competitive team and refuse to bind the huttball key. That wasn't the only thing I saw that was wrong with your playstyle either... Powertech really is the class that makes bads look good. So easy, even a caveman can do it!
  5. 70% vs 90% is negligible against almost any target. You get more bonus damage on literally all of your attacks with +3% aim. It totals out to be around +40 bonus damage i believe, when you are full war hero. You wont notice your railshots damage go down and youll notice all of your other abilities damage increase. I havent done any "tests" but I like how it makes my stats page look and my railshots still hit just as hard. You might see a slight boost against fully armored targets, but in that situation most of your damage is coming from your elemental attacks anyway since railshot can be shielded or reflected.
  6. I'd give up 6% crit on fire effects and 20% armor pen on railshot for energy rebounder and thermal detonator. 8/2/31 is your best bet for burst damage, although 8/6/27 (which is a PVE spec) does the highest DPS of any spec. DPS vs Burst, pick your poison.

  8. Good thing my whole guild is jumping ship before 1.4 comes out Huge rebalancing should have been done during 1.3 so we had the whole preseason to adjust to it. Letting season 1 go live with massive changes to all classes is just another epic fail imo. Even if guild wars 2 is horrible itll still be better than this game by a long shot. Can't wait!
  9. On my 2300 rated team we have a DPS operative who is VERY useful. We make him guard nodes LOL. He hates it xD! If you want a spot on a ranked team as a DPS Op then practice your 1v1 skills against every class. If you can beat everyone 1v1 then you will find plenty of spots on ranked teams. Guarding nodes is still rating and coms my friend! 2 Assassins 2 Pyrotechs 2 Healers(they rotate) Marauder Operative <- See there is a spot for an operative, sometimes two!(if one heals)

  11. If anyone can show me that AP can do well in ranked its you. Keep doing your thing bro. I've seen some amazingly fast kill times with two pyrotechs but I can definitely see where you're coming from on the guarded healer topic. Best of luck to you. Don't get me wrong I am still skeptical and want to see your results, let me know how your ranked endeavors progress!

  13. Your screenshots also support my claim. I'm no stranger to losing high dps matches either don't get me wrong, I am just convinced that single target burst is more important for ranked play becaus AoE damage can be healed through and tends to be misleading on the score screen.
  14. Thats pretty good dps, I'm sure in a stalemate civil war where both sides have 3+ healers you could get 1mil+ damage. My only concern is how neither team really died that much in the screenshot you posted. My main point on why pyro is better for ranked is because it can kill things faster due to significantly higher burst. This screenshot definitely proves APs damage and viablitiy, though.
  15. I'm glad you finally decided to man up. You seem to have this superiority complex that was driving all of your other posts. Besides never actually making coherent responses to the things I've said, the part that bothered me most about you was how you seem to think you've evolved somehow into a greater species. You've said many times that "you were once like me" but that is just absurd. You ignore solid arguments and fall back on your high horse any time somebody counters something you've said. The person who has filled this thread full of misinformation, contrary to what you would like others to believe is in fact yourself. After reading this thread (if anyone chooses to sift through all of the bickering) people, hopefully, will see that the argument was never about the viability of the spec you love so much. You are blind to the fact that I don't care what spec you play. It still stands that AP is not better suited as a dps slot over pyrotech. Play what ever spec you think is the most fun, but know that pyrotechs will out preform advanced prototype in competitive play. There is no evidence to suggest otherwise and no statement that has been brought up in this thread to make coming to any other conclusion plausible. Good day, sir.

Again you're dancing around the topic I brought up. 2 Scoundrels can probably kill a healer thats getting spam healed but they dont have consistent enough dps to do it over and over in say a civil war at mid. Scoundrels arent even in this debate I dont know why you brought it up. 2 Tanks will probably never kill a healer who is getting healed by somebody else. Again, irrelevant. Madness sorcs dots can all be cleansed so if both healers are smart then neither one of them is going to die in a few seconds, if one does die it will take much longer then if 2 pyrotechs were on them. Your spreadsheets and most likely flawed tests dont mean anything if you don't have any experience with the actual application. Why do you think this game is so unbalanced in the first place? The dev's messed up on so many classes at launch because the "Balance" they calculated was wrong when they put players behind the wheel. Say two AP powertechs are fighting 2 amazing healers, a sorc and a merc. You focus the sorc and you want to kill it but the merc specializes in single target heals. Your damage over 12 seconds doesnt mean anything in this situation because that sorc healer has his own skills, bubble, knock backs and whatever else on top of the merc who is a single target healing guru. I promise the merc and sorc can combine heal for as much or at least close to how much damage you both can put out, especially if you're being taunted (you will definitely be getting taunted in a high end rated warzone match, a lot). Every team runs two healers at least, I'm not comparing 1v2 and I never was. 2 AP powertechs or even an AP and whatever other dps class you want (Pyro really is king for burst, other then maybe sniper) wont out preform 2 pyrotechs. Thats why so many high rated teams run pyrotechs. Done. Its actually quite the opposite I'm afraid. Its obvious I have more rated experience than you but even outside of that I have more experience with this game as a whole. Of course you're going to pull something like this out of your ***, when you have no reason to think I've ever watched a video like that. I told you I watch other HIGH RATED teams stream, if i want to watch PT's farm recruit gear people i'll queue for a regular warzone and do it myself. No, the difference really is the burst. I know what would shut me up... Make videos or start streaming your rated warzones. Dominate the Bastion with your AP spec and prove me wrong once and for all. Until then you're just theorycrafting.   17. Please reread my section about healers... "Burst" and "over the span of 12 seconds" are the total opposite of one another. 2 of any class trying to kill a healer that is being healed by another healer will rely on their burst to down one of them.
  18. Here's my opener on my pyrotech. Lets assume i've used explosive fuel and everything crits okay? First global: Thermal Detonator Second Global: Incendiary missle (1000 damage) Third Global: Rail Shot (4000 damage) Fourth Global: Flame Burst (2000 damage + CGC 1000 damage and it reset my rail shot's cooldown) Fifth Global: Thermal Detonator explodes + Railshot hits (4000 damage + 4000 damage) Sixth Global: Rocket punch (3000 damage) From this point on I just keep rotating my skills and trying to get procs every 6 seconds on railshot. When thermal detonator comes back up, I time it with my railshot (You can only get the proc buff every 6 seconds, meaning you can hold it for 3-4 seconds, use it, flame burst, and use it again right away.) Not counting the dots other then the initial damage they did my first two globals were just setup. They can be used at range as well (something AP is very lacking in.) In the 7.5 seconds I spent attacking I did 19k damage with almost half of that in one big chunk. My reasoning why you need burst in rateds is simple. Lets say both teams are actively trying to kill eachothers healers. Your job is to kill the other teams healers before they kill yours basically. You are trying to kill Healer A. while Healer B. sits off to the side guarded. Healer B is spam healing Healer A so the longer the fight takes the more HP Healer A really has. If you're doing 3k every 1.5 seconds and Healer B can heal for 4k every 2.5 seconds how long is it going to take you to kill Healer A? I'm not looking for an answer, its obvious that two pyrotechs can insta-gib Healer A during their basic rotations and your DPS from damaging Healer A over time gets negated. ^ That is just one reason why damage done doesnt win games. PVP in this game comes down to who has the better burst.

I watch high rated streams and talk to high rated people (im 2300 rated on a tiny server, which doesnt say a whole lot I know but my guild tries to live vicariously through some major Bastion pvp guilds). They're all pyrotech. If AP really could flawlessly keep up with pyrotech that would be one thing, but nobody I have seen or talked to uses it. The measurnig stick I have for AP players are the ones I see at lower rating who get outplayed like crazy. So once again i'll ask can any high ranking AP players post in this thread with some proof that its "good" in 2000+ rated arenas? (Screenshot of your character wearing combat tech set bonuses with your pvp page out maybe?) I'm convinced they don't exist and that all of the people pulling for AP in this thread simply havent played competitive warzones to know any better. Before I get flamed for that last sentence, prove it.
