  1. Alrighty so, this is kind of a weird thing I just noticed. I was going to make a fresh Trooper, a cyborg like my Jedi. My Jedi, created just a few days ago, had something like 63 different options for cybernetics... My trooper, is only showing a mere 15 at character creation. To make sure I wasn't out of my mind I logged into the Jedi in question - she still has her (not available to my trooper) cybernetics, and checking the Appearance Changer can still pick and choose any cybernetics she wants. Just to double-check I've tried to create another Jedi, and yes, that new Jedi can also use all 63 Cybernetic options. Making things weirder - I have an old level 50 commando on another server, so I checked her out to make sure everything was OK there - her cybernetics appear to have changed a bit, but she is capable (only at the appearance changer) of accessing the all the cybernetic options. The weird thing here is, unlike the Jedi, all options above 15 are highlighted, just like the new human hairstyles and hair colors. Basically uhm... what's going on here? Is this a bug? Are they really trying to sell us appearance options we already had? I'm just baffled as to what's going on here.
  2. Yeah, but that's still annoying to me. Not as bad as Marauder or Sentinel of course, but still aggravating. Jedi just don't glow like that in any of the movies at all. Heck it's weird enough that Jedi and Sith glow when they meditate here < . .> That doesn't make much sense to me either really, but... sorry, pet peeve.
  3. Mine is the Agoshi legacy, since my main character is from a novel I've been writing on and off for about 10 years.* That and I prefer having an actual last name myself to something silly (but that's me, there's nothing wrong with silly). That said it often irks me that my other characters wind up as -Agoshi; since for them it doesn't make much sense. Usually I just hide the legacy name on anyone but my main. *She actually has nothing to do with Star Wars, but I've always used her as my main in any MMO I play. It's just a thing.
  4. I loved that mission so much on my Commando. I'd definitely like to see more in that vein as it's one of the few times you ever really get to feel like a leader, as opposed to a grunt with an officer's rank. Also love the suggestion for having your team in the background at character select. < ._.>b
  5. Lol, Kira was right - "This guy is a walking hormone." *facepalm* It seems like every companion female characters can romance either turns me off or in the case of poor Aric Jorgan, fits better in the friend zone than as a romantic interest. Really wish we had an Alistair from Dragon Age: Origins equivalent in this game. Ah well. I'll live.
  6. Really depends on what you're after. My Sniper is (trying to be) more Imperial Spec Ops* rather than James Bond. So for her, I'm using the Imperial Trooper armor from the Collector's Edition vendor, with a Phantom helmet (which is slicker and more 'spec ops' looking than the standard Imperial Trooper helmet). Pic can be found: Here. That said if you don't have access to the CE vendor that armor is a no-go. Another option is (if you've bought it before it vanished) the Gold Scalene armor - it has a a cyberpunky vibe to it imo that really makes it fit for a certain kind of agent. All that said, what suits your character is probably wildly different than what suits mine; I recommend experimenting - use the preview window liberally, try different combinations to find what you like before you spend credits or cartel coins. *Kind of an opposite number to the Republic Trooper.
  7. Huh. I guess I'll muck around with him a bit and see if I warm up to him... but I have to admit I'm reaaaaally wishing I could romance Kira as a female character at this point. Maybe this is just going to have to be one of those "Wait till they release more romancable companions down the line" things. Thanks for the info!
  8. Hehe, yeah, I've got a Marauder now too... being on fire with her drives me absolutely nuts. I spent an enormous amount of time, money and effort getting her a special costume... and half the time I can't see it because I feel like a DBZ character. Though I actually find the Sentinel version worse - the dark-red glow on Marauders you can at least vaguely see through, the Sentinel version is just friggin blinding. On the upside, I got rid of Unremitting and my Vigilance build has been quite successful despite lacking it. I'll grant I probably take more damage than I ought to during most fights... but it's worth it.
  9. So, I've just hit Balmorra on my Guardian, and run into Doc. This is my first Knight, and I was thinking of trying the romance since I skipped that on my Trooper. Unfortunately now that I've met Doc I'm already having substantial doubts about this guy... We've just met and he's... well... kinda striking me as a bit scummy; and not in a good way. Is he always like this, or is this just kind of a poor first impression?
  10. I like this armor a lot... I hope we get it down the line.
  11. I agree completely. Heck, I just want my Commando to be viable with a blaster rifle; as I can't stand using a huge assault cannon, and it's just as bad being a Vanguard since they rarely actually SHOOT their rifle - they just use a ton of gadgets and physically smack things with their gun.
  12. I've had the saaaame thing. In fact the action that I had the most guilt over was a light side choice. Spoiler for Trooper story -
  13. I'm usually light-only or at least, close to it... but once in awhile I dip my toe in the dark side. There's basically 3 possible triggers for this: 1) The dark side option doesn't even make sense as a "dark side" option in the first place. The absolute biggest of these is the Fort Garnik medical supplies mission. I could complain for a month about that mission; but on my Troopers I always go Dark Side on that option, even though I'm a lightsider through and through. There are, as I recall, a few other cases like this as well; but *most* aren't so ridiculous. 2) The character has a sufficiently good reason, in their perspective, for doing something even though they know it's wrong. For instance, an enemy has wronged them personally to such a degree that the idea of letting them live is just out of the question; or they're too emotionally invested to think entirely rationally and are just acting on emotion. 3) I'm on my Sith Marauder. She's a bit of an odd duck in that she has a very peculiar moral code that kind of makes her a Proud Warrior Race Gal. Basically if you attack her or her friends, she feels honor bound to kill you unless you can give her a *really* good reason not to. She doesn't believe in taking prisoners in any but the most extreme of circumstances either - fight and die with honor, surrender is for cowards. That said, if you're an honorable person you've nothing to fear from her - she's absolutely happy to help those who can't help themselves; and while she'll kill you if you attack her - she's never particularly cruel about it; if you're going to die it's going to be as quick and painless as possible. So her alignment ends up being very neutral, since she makes a lot of light side and dark side choices practically bake to back, sometimes within the same arc depending on changing circumstances. ------ Someday I may try a straight Darkside character, but I have a hard time envisioning myself doing it to be honest.
  14. Let me explain here - I'm... kind of exactly what the executives here want to see. I'm someone who likes the game and spends quite a bit of money on it. I'm a subscriber as well as a shopaholic. I'm not especially proud of that, but it's the truth, and I doubt I'm alone in it. Here's the thing: Because I tend not to plan my purchases out ahead of time, I lose out on a LOT of bonus points. Here's an example: Say I plan to buy the Cathar species so I can make a new Cathar trooper character. I buy a 10 dollar package of points, get my Cathar, and I have a small amount left over. Now say I get to level 10 and I start thinking "Hrm... that Stalwart Protector's armor would look really good on my companion and I..." - well I have 400 points leftover from buying the Cathar, so I'll just buy another 10 dollar package and I'll have enough. A little later I decide I want a nice gun and maybe one of those shiny Efficiency Scanners as well, so I pick up a couple Cartel Packs hoping to get them - let's say I drop another 20 on these before I get my gun and scanner. Alright - I've now spent 40 dollars in the course of a single day - but I'm down a rather sizable chunk of points from someone who bought a 40 dollar package out of the gate; all because I was buying as my interest was piqued rather than planning it out ahead of time. Ultimately what I'm saying is - you're actively discouraging me from impulse buys, something that most retailers well... encourage. It actually makes me desire to spend money less, since I either have to pony up for the big package all at once or hope I don't see anything else of interest. My point is: If someone drops 40 dollars in your store in one day (or for that matter makes multiple purchases in one day equal to the next equivalent package) - maybe just give them the bonus coins as though they'd bought the larger package outright. After all, at the end of the day, both customers have spent the same amount of money in the same general timeframe, so why treat them differently?
  15. I actually use the current system to see what's available to unlock in the first place so I don't waste money. Maybe just add the ability to sort with a pulldown menu of some kind? "Sort by... Unlocked, All, Not Unlocked" etc...?
  16. Genteel Dress top dyed Red/Black < . .>b I found it gave a whole different vibe without the normal bottom robe.
  17. I have two who have looks I'm really happy with thus far: Sehira's outfit is more complex (it involves pieces from 3 different sets), so I needed more pictures to show it off I felt.
  18. After having tanked in a great many MMOs, I'll give you my personal reasons why I don't tank in SWTOR (in fact it dovetails with "why I don't even do group content"). Simply put - it's stressful and thankless. Being a tank requires more effort than anything else; and if you screw up, it's entirely probable the team will wipe, blame you, and quit. Worse, there's always "that one guy" who will complain *even if the run is going smoothly*. To top it off, it's difficult to get a tank off the ground and get the necessary experience* because people have this bizarre concept that everyone should know every dungeon perfectly the first time. Maybe that's not the case in TOR, but in other games I've played that's absolutely how it is - you go in and you're expected to already know what you're doing 100% perfectly... even if it's the very first dungeon in the game and you're brand new to the game. That's bad enough for DPS players, but for a tank it's absolutely nervewracking. Worse - if you decide to wait it out and level up to cap before doing dungeons, you'll generally get your tail kicked horribly trying to figure out what you're doing as (usually) the leveling process doesn't really at all prepare you for the world of end game tanking. The point of all this is simple - MMO players in general need to be nicer to their groupmates, especially new tanks. That's not the only reason of course; I could go on and on about how group content in most games is pretty bland and that too keeps a lot of veteran tanks from bothering to tank in newer games. Still, I feel that's the biggest aspect of it - almost no one wants to be insulted or put in the hot seat, and yet that's generally the lot of an MMO tank. *As a player, not to level up.
  19. So long story short: I really like my Guardian - the story is fun so far, the abilities are nice - everything is grand except one singular... irritation. I've tried both Defense and Vigilance specs, and both of them have fairly important talents that make you well... glow. Specifically Blade Barrier (raises a damage shield after Blade Storm) and Unremitting (reduces damage/provides control effect immunity after a force leap). I understand it's a videogame and thus some visual identification of what's active is desirable - but this irritates me. I'm not asking for it to be changed or anything; but I'm trying to figure out "How can I continue to play this class without being driven absolutely up the wall by WoW-style glowshields" So... what I am here to ask is a handful of Guardian questions related to the above: 1) Before I respec, is the Focus tree any better about this? I don't mind shooting glowy bolts when I use the force and the like; but I don't want well... me... to glow if I can avoid it; at least not routinely. (I can handle Saber Ward since it's on a longish cooldown and I only use it in dire emergencies usually. The abilities that annoy me are ones that are effectively almost always on.) 2) Every guide I've read has suggested that Blade Barrier is very important to a Defense Guardian - however I expect those guides are written for people who group and run flashpoints and the like... I don't; I just solo and run story content. Is Blade Barrier still as necessary to me? (If Focus either glows as well or just isn't my cup of tea, I'm considering running Defense sans-Blade Barrier, but not if it's going to be terrible.) 3) Same question except as applied to Unremitting. I see a lot of value in that ability, but the glow just drives me to distraction. Assuming neither of the other two options are viable, is a Vigilance Guardian sans-Unremitting workable? Thank you in advance for the help.
  20. Oh, huh, you're right, I just checked, no dye slot. Weird. (I made the apparently erroneous assumption because you could still preview dyes on it). I'd rather liked the look of the Red/Black dye on it too... oh well; at least I don't have to worry about that now!
