  1. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I am quite sick of Revan. Honestly? He needs to die. He's from a bygon era, and he is literally "Stealing the spotlight" from both the protagonists and the antogonists of this Era and storyline. Instead of, quite literally, rehashing the same character over and over, let him rest in peace. There are plenty of new and original characters to take the spotlight, both in shared FP's and in faction FP's (seriously, we're at war, let's get more war-based expansions/patches). Honestly, the "Bigger threat that unites the lands" plotline is a tired and old one and for once i'd like to see the actual war carried on to larger consequences and bigger battles rather than a series of cease fires for "Today's galactic threat is:".
  2. Based on what's coming out of Star Citizen development, i've heard the CryEngine struggles hard with large numbers of people, especially as far as networking goes. SC had to completely redesign a good portion of cryengine (with their blessing though) in order to prep it for the MMO goals of SC. Part of the problem is we have different devs/coders now, who are unfamiliar with the changes made to the engine by the original devs, let alone the vanilla engine itself. It's a lot harder for a new dev to tool around in someone elses work, especially if proper notes weren't left. Since i doubt the coders/devs expected to all get fired/replaced, i doubt there were many notes left.
  3. This. Also, with a lot of MMO's, after several years eventually you'll get an "engine overhaul" where in addition to graphics, a lot of functionality is updated as well (SWG had several of these over its lifetime). The thing i worry about with SWTOR, and take this with a grain of salt i'm not up to date on the contract for the hero engine, is that the hero engine is pretty limited to start with and because of the contractual nature of the use of the engine, i am unsure as to what degree it can be modified. In addition, since the devs didnt make the engine, nor were the current devs the ones to get it where it is now, i think it would be very hard for them to overhaul it without bringing in the original coders or having some decent programmers notes left in the code.
  4. Perhaps you should read again, yes i did call people hypocrites. That's also not a personal attack, if you want gaming to be treated the same as other hobbies, it is hypocritical to then treat it differently from other hobbies. You, on the otherhand, have been judgemental since you came into this thread. You call the OP sad and hint at even more insults, you deride anyone who supports taking PTO for gaming, you insult my intelligence, you call me a crybaby for disagreeing with you and dissapproving of your attitude. Infact, you are being a hyprocrite right now, INSULTING me, CONTINUOUSLY, and then complaining about me calling people hypocrites(not everyone, as specified, only those who both A) Want gaming treated equally and B)dont treat it equally here). That's also ALL i've said, compared to your slew of insults(which continue to add up with EVERY reply you make), you take the cake there. I don't make judgements on people's intelligence(unlike you) or wether they're sad because of what they do for a hobby(unlike you). For crying outloud, the point of time off is to enjoy your hobbies.
  5. Just because YOU find the topic is silly does not mean it is. Some people actually do take vacation time for THEIR HOBBIES, regardless of WHAT hobbies they are. Second off, no, you aren't getting away with ad hominem attacks. I disagree with your statement. What i did, was point out, ACCURATELY, that NO official statement on pricing model has been made. This is a FACT. Take your derailment of this thread and potential trolling elsewhere, i doubt the OP or anyone else here appreciates your self-righteous "I'm better than this thread and you" attitude.
  6. Last i checked, there hasn't been any statement on wether or not it's free. In fact, there have been a lot of indicators lately that they may be going the EvE online route with free digital expansions. As for the topic at hand, there is a lot of damn hypocricy here. People take time off to watch a movie, stay home in their underwear and get wasted, or anything along those lines and that's OK, but someone takes time off to play a favorite game or a new release and all of a sudden that's "sad" or "a joke"? No, you people are hypocrites. You cry and cry for gaming to be treated the same as any other hobby, and then YOU, THE GAMERS, don't treat it the same! Bah. Someone once said, the only thing holding the gaming industry back are gamers.
  7. That's not how it works. If you have an Appearance tab, the client/server has to preload the assets. If it doesn't, it creates HUGE framerate and latency chokepoints, every time a player near you accesses it you have to load the assets and data, this could kill pvp and do far worse to the open world. Fleet would no longer be playable. Strongholds are not a good example because these are isolated assets in separated instances likely on their own server partition, and even then there are limitations (look at the personnel limits). Nobody else has to load or deal with the assets because of this and it doesnt effect the rest of the server because it is on its own partition. Hell, even though SH are separated from the rest of the game, Other people in strongholds are affected and there is still a major lag and performance issue with strongholds because the server dedicated to SH's has a hard time with it. And again, a whole new line of code and UI would need to be created, there's a LOT of lines of code in order to create asset overrides and dealing with optimizations both server and client side and then linking it all in with the UI and pre-existing code. With Orange gear already available, this is a HUGE cost with LITTLE benefit, since players can already get the look they want in a way that fits with the pre-existing progression scheme.
  8. So you want them to design, from the ground up, the systems and UI for a minor convenience? Fact of the matter is, you can already look the way you want, and Orange gear fits within the current progression scheme and economy. You're asking to uproot that and add a whole new system just so you can *instant* switch. Like i said, those results are not worthy of the time, effort, and resources necessary. You can already look the way you want. Not instantly, no, and sometimes it takes time to get the exact look you want (which is good for the economy and sense of progression), but at the end of the day you can get the exact look you want. You're asking for an extremely expensive QoL addition that is, as i said, superfluous and unneccessary.
  9. Someone needs to get over themself, and it isn't the person you quoted. Fact of the matter is these are good suggestions for the people who *do* care, if you don't care wether or not filler's are at the top, then why do you care about these posts? These suggestions are clearly QoL improvements for those who *do* care, and have no effect on those who *do not* care, such as yourself. To come in here as if you are some authority and you are somehow better than these posters because you don't care is low and self-righteous, to say the least. Don't like it? Don't post! Amazing concept.
  10. This seems *really* superfluous considering the amount of Orange gear in the game. Time/effort is not worth the results. Most people in this game can get the exact look that they want, and at the same time there is still visual progression because it takes time to get to that look and get it modded up, which helps with the game economy and, again, progression. So right now, imo, it is a win/win for the game. You still have a sense of progression with finding the right Orange pieces/dye, and keeping your mods up to date, but at the same time you also can get the look you want and are not forced into a specific look.
  11. I would assume that at this point, with the Treaty of Coruscant null and void and Tython now in flames, the Jedi Order would return to coruscant with a, by now, rebuilt Jedi Temple. The Sith would probably just abandon korriban planning to rebuild later. So technically you could just add a new taxi-travel point(that you only get once you reach a certain level/story point) on corsucant to a rebuilt temple for future story points, allowing progression of the story and seeings things change, while still maintaining integrity of the existing story. You don't need to visit and see a destroyed tython because, in this scenario, it's been abandoned. Since you never actually see the outside of the "Destroyed" Temple and are only in a isolated version of it, adding a new point to a rebuilt temple would not be too much of a challenge. Also, the temple is currently not visible from outside, so no continuity errors there either. As for the Sith, they would likely simply operate out of Dromuun Kaas as they did in the past, all DC members returning to the Citadel.
  12. Well back before Kotor was made and questions were asked of Lucas about the pre-movie sith, he said there was a powerful Sith Empire that ruled almost the entire galaxy. He said It fell not because of outsiders but because the Sith kept betraying eachother until it fell. This is what led to the belief that there should never be more than 2 or they would destroy eachother again. So far, SWTOR seems very consistent with that. I imagine the SI/SW will eventually split off to make an early version, or the actual, Dark Brotherhood which will fight the republic off and on for millenia until betrayed by Darth Bane who establishes the Rule of Two. For the Empire itself, it will continue embattling itself, possibly have a resurgance or two, until the republic bombs Dromuund Kaas into the ruins it is known for(and technically it ), and what little remains of the Imperial Civilian population will surrender/migrate into the Galactic Republic. I imagine a lot of refugee's will hit Coruscant, leading to a higher population of british speaking Pubs. Out of fear of retribution by the Republic, or at the very least heavy unwanted exposure, the Chiss Ascendancy will recall all Chiss agents, soldiers, and civilians, removing any hints of their existence and destroying any ships that enter their space, until they are a forgotten Myth known by few. As far as the BH goes....He'll be hunted down for high crimes against the republic and likely executed or forced into exile in the outer rim XD. Poor guy. Anyway, in the meantime i'm sure the Empire will have a resurgance or two...It may even get more powerful than it has ever been before now and conquer even more of the core worlds and the galaxy at large. It may even last a millenia, since in the movies the "Sith Tyranny" that ruled the galaxy was still well known and feared even then. Still, if/when the Empire falls, the Sith will live on, and the bodies of their former servants will make great shields for their retreat.
  13. I've been having this same problem with her. I'm just finishing leveling up a SI, and all of the companion convo's have been great EXCEPT Ashara. She literally comes off as a Schizophrenic, with detatched delusions in contrast to reality. Here i am, a true believer in the Sith Code and the Dark Side of the Force, and she thinks and acts like i am a lightsider. That would be fine, except that in conversations with her, i am *forced* to agree with her, one way or the other. I think people would tolerate her more if we could spend all the convo's disagreeing or shocking her. With every other companion in the game, even if they are the complete opposite of you, you can max their affection and *disagree* with them. You can maintain your own persona when talking with them. True, LS Jaesa makes assumptions, but if you're a DS SW then you can turn her to the DS where what she says is consistent. Everything taken into account, it becomes obvious that Ashara was intended to have a DS version of her. She's the only companion where you can't be consistent with yourself during her conversations - Similar to LS Jaesa, which was done because they assume if you are DS, you will have DS Jaesa. The problem? No DS Ashara, so she should've had her convo's rewritten so that you could make it very clear to her you Embrace the Dark Side, don't believe in peace, and plan to wipe out the Jedi Order given the chance. With Neutral options being subtle disagreement's or lying to her. I think from now on i'll just ignore Ashara unless playing LS.
  14. For the record, the "Apartment" technically isn't an Apartment. It is a Stronghold controlled by one or more Major figures in the Republic/Empire. So Major in fact, you can have Imperial/Republic soldiers gaurding it. I do not believe it would be unlikely that such an establishment could have a landing pad for a ship so that a Dark Council Member, or the Emperors Wrath could land directly for a personal/secret meeting with the other major figures.
  15. No i mean the chorus opening for balmorra, it's pretty good. Wait, music that makes you start looking for red shirts? Nothing like that, that i can recall. Yes actually, along with all other legacy lore: www.wookieepedia.com
  16. You wanna buy some deathsticks? Seriously though, nothing wrong with RP people, some people enjoy it, and i've seen some in my day that was damn near Novel quality, even though i wasn't participating at the time(of course, to be fair, in SWG i also stumbled into an ERP session in a cantina by a guy and a g.i.r.l. and was quite disturbed). Still, people are right, announcing this here is asking for trouble. This is, after all, the Internet. Unfortuanately, the mask of anonymity breeds the worst of people...
  17. I would also like to point out that back before launch, we brought up this problem and i believe it was Erickson who pointed out that a lot of the dialogue and a huge amount of writing for future content had already been done. They said they did a lot of writing for all the class stories in advance so all they had to do was make the content. This was in response to our worries of them getting back the voice actors or the writers. How much was done in advance i am unsure, but he implied quite a bit. Writing doesn't take much time or resources, same with VA, so theoretically they could have completely written the class stories to their conclusion, the content just has to be made. And generally speaking, typically a writer knows how his story is going to end. So i imagine at the very *least* they have an outline of where things go for each class and its various paths (some classes being easy, like the SI or JK or SW, others more complicated, like the IA).
  18. That music hasn't been invented yet so no. The only time you hear the classic music is when it's ambient music, aka music your character isn't hearing but we are, so meant to set the tone or have a certain theme. As for the music, i like tatooine's as well, but i really like how the balmorran music when you first get in the spaceport really gets your blood pumping, a good tune. The guys Bioware hired for the new music did a good job for the most part.
  19. To be fair your own post was an attack on the authors that many people here are fans of. You don't appreciate/like the books, that's fine. However i find your opinion of writers for established IP's as unfounded and unwarranted, there are many, many talented writers who have written excellent pieces of work for pre-established IP's, including those listed by the person you quoted. You may not like much of the Star Wars EU, there are parts i don't like (NJO series i'm not the biggest fan of, and Karen Travis' work), but that doesn't mean the writers are uncreative hacks. There's plenty of very creative talent and excellent, popular works in the EU.
  20. This man obviously hasn't read the Bane books or the Thrawn Trilogy. Just because you are in an existing IP does not mean you are an uncreative hack. If anything, it takes a certain finesse to develop a popular, yet original story while sticking to the tenents and pre-existing lore of Star wars. And unlike other franchises, Leland Chee, before disney, enforced a singular universe canon that all books/games/etc were part of. Keep in mind, Kotor, Kotor 2, and the stories of several other SW games are widely praised and they are all part of an existing IP. Those writers are not hacks. imo.
  21. You forgot Weapons Grade Plutonium *senses 50 NSA computers tripping red flags*.
  22. I'd like a job where i could sit down and surf the internet....hell i'd like a job where i was allowed to sit down..ever...even a little...
