  1. Starting alts is the one thing I can help you with. Start an alt on the opposite faction. Virtually nothing in common so far for the first 20 levels (which is the farthest I've gotten on an alt so far).
  2. Technically speeder training is 1000 credits, the other 39000 is for insurance... Seriously though, I got my speeder training at 26, and that was from a single level of saving. EDIT: And I'm running artifice, underworld trading, and archaeology.
  3. Alderaan and Tatooine are freakin huge. And Alderaan is simply beautiful this time of year. Dromund Kaas is pretty impressive as well. Trust me, some of the worlds are so large that a speeder trip from one end to the other takes a few minutes. Sprinting across Alderaan would probably take 10 to 15 depending on whether or not you take the scenic route. EDIT: Forget about Taris. My god is Taris enormous.
  4. I'm not against someone "needing" for a companion, as long as they ask if its okay ahead of time. A little common courtesy goes a long way. Also, if an object comes up that no one in the group can use (say heavy armor in a group full of consulars and sentinels) then need away.
  5. I went back to the fight I was having issues with after a few hours away from the game. I quickly realized that I was using my special high damage abilities too much, in that the mob was immune to their secondary damage properties. I instead made use of the slash ability and quickly brought him down. I'm starting to realize that each strong and elite mob has a different strategy for dealing with it, and that pummeling blindly doesn't help. Pay attention to which attacks just don't work. It will save you a lot of grief. The fight was still pretty close. I only had 18 hp left and my companion was down, but I won. also, I once fought a terantatek with an inquisitor in beta. I died three times before I realized that it was shrugging off my lightning attacks. The fourth go I just used my lightsaber, and it went down. Looking back, I should have figured this out sooner, but that event was a good 2 months ago, and I guess I just forgot about it until now.
  6. I've noticed that at later levels (mid 30s for me) that the strong and elite npcs have magically become much more difficult than they used to be. Being a psychic is a prerequisite for taking some of these things down. Also, being at least 3-4 levels above your enemy. I don't know about you guys, but I can't manage my health, my companion's health, the enemies interruptable abilities, my ability cooldowns, and my companion's abilities at the same time. All while fighting a single level 32 elite while I'm level 34. It's just not cool. I should be able to handle single elites below my level with only moderate difficulty and without stims and medpacks. But that obviously isn't the case.
  7. I've seen a consular running around in the dancers outfit in PvP, she's pretty freaking effective, and probably a bit distracting to the opposing team as well.
  8. I've gotten flack for selecting need on something that my companion could use. the exact quote was "really Sylus? you use aim?" Well T7 does, and everyone else had selected need as well. So I went for it and rolled an 87. The thing is, if people do give you grief over it, just claim mis-click. People are usually pretty forgiving of mis-clicks. Edit: This is actually a great post. I agree 100% with this.
  9. personally, I've always felt like you should have 4-6 options on the wheel (the wheel has enough room for it), and each choice gives you lightside, darkside, paragon, and renegade points. Combine biowares multiple morality systems as it were. Lightside points are earned for choosing the "moral" choice, and darkside for "immoral" choices. Paragon points would be given for "positive" intentions (for instance, killing a sith lord instead of letting him stand trial because you honestly believe he is too dangerous, this would give darkside and paragon points). Renegade points would be given for sadistic choices (killing said Sith lord because you can). Have a box alignment meter instead of a slider, and the closer you are to one of the corners, the better gear you get. gear types: Lightside - Paragon (Traditional high and mighty Jedi) Lightside - Renegade (redeemed Sith who still has a bit of a sarcastic streak) Darkside - Paragon (Lord Praven or Darth Revan type character) Darkside - Renegade (Traditional sadistic Sith) The cool thing is, there would be a circular area in the center where true neutral lies, and special gear would be available here as well, since with my system neutrality would be a very tricky affair. Seriously Bioware, let me make the wrong choice for the right reasons. Some sith really are too dangerous to be kept alive.
  10. If you attach it to a near impossible quest, people will whine and cry until it isn't. Just make it an endgame or high level legacy award, or attach it to a vendor and make it 1.5 million credits like those speeders, and call it a day.
  11. look, this post got swallowed in under 5 minutes. If no one has an answer for me, fine, I'll try again later (say tomorrow or the next day), but I would really appreciate at least one bit of useful feedback, even if its a new spec suggestion.
  12. alright, I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I'm posting it here, and if its wrong, an admin can move it. Is anyone else having difficulty with mid-level PvE? I just finished chapter 1 of my watchman specced Jedi Sentinel, and there were two seperate occasions where I had to ask a guild mate for aid in boss battles. Boss battles mind you, where I was two levels above the boss. And now I'm on the interlude, and I can't seem to get past the "harrower" I'm level 34, the harrowers are 32, and I can't kill them. Period. I used the companion tied healing ability "call on the force" and managed to take out one. The quest calls for three kills, and I shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes to finish a quest. Before you ask, no I'm not using interrupts, because I haven't seen any interruptable abilities. I'm using stims and medpacks, but those have gotten too expensive to buy now. I'm down to 200 credits because of armor repairs from repeated deaths. I should be able to kill a level 32 elite with only moderate difficulty with a level 34 character. And yet they hand me my butt on a platter every time. The one kill I made was luck. If anyone has any tips I'm open to suggestions. But I shouldn't have to group up on class quests. by the way, the harrowers (level 32 marauders) are just about immune to all my special abilities. I also can't immobilize or slow them to use oppertune strike or pommel strike. My companions die in about 15 seconds, and I follow about 20 seconds later.
  13. According to the wiki, a lightsaber doesn't go out and stop, it goes out, loops, and comes back in. Its looped energy, which is much easier to do than stopping energy. "The blade typically extended about a meter before being arced by the blade containment field back to a negatively charged fissure ringing the emitter, where it was channeled back to the power cell by a superconductor, completing the circuit." Which is also the reason power cells are so rarely replaced. The lightsaber doesn't expend much energy unless the blade comes in contact with something. There are still a lot of problems with creating a real lightsaber, but the expanded universe guys have done a pretty good job of making it just believable enough that scientists are actually thinking it may one day be possible. And the day it is will probably be declared a global holiday by nerds everywhere. It shall be glorious...
  14. This is actually a brilliant point. There was a comic run a while back that pitted superman against his evil counterpart from another universe, ultraman. In the end, superman won out because ultraman always killed his enemies, never facing them again. Superman on the other hand, repeatedly had to best enemies who came back stronger every time. The sith don't constantly strive for self improvement. That is the way of the Jedi. It's why the Jedi always win in the end, because Even if the worst sith can outclass the worst Jedi, the best Jedi will always outclass the best sith.
  15. General consensus is that V was the best, and I happen to agree. Of all the movies, V is my favorite. I rank them as V, IV, VI, III, I, II. Why is one ranked before two. One reason. Both movies have too much JarJar (that is to say any at all), both have whiny anakin, but only one of those movies contains darth maul. I never really understood the absolute acidic hate for the prequel trilogy. Yes, I get it, the original trilogy is better, but the prequels aren't terrible movies. They're just not as good. I think people were expecting the same insta classic that the prequels were, and got themselves disappointed. Unless you walked out of the theater half way through any of the prequel movies, you cannot genuinely say they have no redeeming qualities. And if you saw them all in theaters, some part of you liked those movies when you first watched them. I'm re-watching all 6 movies as part of my countdown to TOR (one every day until the 20th), and number 1 was watchable.
  16. I agree with your statements. I find them amusing. I shall allow you to continue living.
