  1. well, the magic wow once had has long gone. most of the people who talk of a greatness in wow are talking about a time long ago at it's early beginnings. the wow of today is nothing like it's past, it's just a shadow of what once was. so if you went and played today i doubt you would find any magic therein.
  2. i'd also add, upgrading to an engine that's not pre 2006. take all those millions invested and buy the unreal engine or something.. so it doesn't look like it's from the year 2000. i love old school games and all but i don't want new games to look like it came out on the sega cd.
  3. lol nice attitude man.. although i think you made a mistake preordering tera. if open beta is any indication. it's bound to have one of the worst communities of all time. i'm with you though, eventually someone will give us that magic again that we crave. i don't care who it is or what game i just want that magic back, even if blizzard does it with titan or some mmo.. and i swore off blizzard games i'd even be willing to go back to blizzard.
  4. final fantasy 11. in any positive mmo discussion i'd always mention it. unfortunately, it was so difficult to level up i never made it to end game after 2 years haha. so i never actually experienced it's "end game end game". i was a solo beast master back at release which was probably one of the hardest mmo experiences you could ever undergo, at the time it took so much effort, so much planning, so much positioning to solo level... but my god it's one of the funnest gaming experiences i've ever had. i would tame a giant cave scorpion where other people were scared to even fight one in groups... and run around up in the harder levels with just me, chain charming mobs and fighting all these insanely difficult monsters... and if you messed up once you would lose around an hour of game play's work. (cuz you lost exp) just copy all of ffxi, it's the only game i cried when i quit... not like balling my eyes out with tears but like the indian with 1 tear down his cheek thingy lol. and the only mmo where i sometimes lay in bed and have memories of some of the times in the game. if you wonder why i quit if i liked it so much, it's cuz i became too addicted to it lol... i was spending 10 hours a day. choosing to play instead of sleep and barely sleeping just so i could play it. eventually like that tv show "intervention" i had a self intervention and had to force myself to quit. if this game had even 10% of what ffxi had i'd be playing right now. the beastmaster ffxi experience was one of a kind. basically i'd like some focus on solo endgame rather than always guilds, guilds, guilds, raids, raids, raids... what about solo content at end game beyond mindless dailies?
  5. it's turned me off to this type of mmo, but not mmo's as a whole.. for the future. the reasons why i got into mmo's were because of the idea of exploration... explorable, living/organic worlds full of atmosphere... that would constantly evolve and continue, in combination with being able to maintain a character within that game world over the course of a few years. people can bash warcraft all they want but at least warcraft had creativity and atmosphere.. not the greatest ever but at least it was there... exploring new places, fishing, in the beginning it was pretty cool. not knowing what was in that cave you wandered into, or not knowing what you would fish up, etc. there's nothing in swtor, it's completely soulless. it's like a paris hilton who, on the outside you might find attractive and interesting for 10minutes but after you spend time with her and get with her then you realize how little there is to her and how little she has to offer. so, yah.. this game has shaped up to be a very disappointing experience and i hope not to see this type of mmo again... a soul-less mmo, with no atmosphere, no creativity, no exploration. noone can deny the voice acting was fantastic, and some of the story was good (a small part of it), and i like the legacy idea, but you can't just put everything on that one thing. voice acting. i'd rather have no voice acting and an amazing, atmospheric, living world to go off and explore for hours than voice acting.. any day. i've been looking for something to replace final fantasy 11 for me.. ever since i quit but i still haven't found it. i'm looking foward to guild wars beta tomorrow because from everything i read they put a ton of effort in creating a world to explore. so.. here's hoping it brings mmo's back to what they need to be. this swtor style of mmo should die off and never be attempted again, never seen such a soulless, lifeless world in all the mmo's ive tried. ps: why will no other mmo copy ffxi's style of character... 1 character you maintain and do everything with it, you level up all the classes with that 1 character and all crafting ,etc.. the main choice is which race/species but then you continue with that one choice. that was the absolute, single most genius idea in maintaning a character. like ever. and yet no other mmo copies it? they all have that lame system of creating new characters every time you want to try a new class, etc... so lame, so.. so lame. get with the program and someone copy ffxi.
  6. also ran into this problem, cuz i have tons of coms. i'm always at the 2k cap trying to figure out what to spend them on. so, i figured i'd go ahead and get a full bm set together (on my level 37 char). and it wouldn't allow me to purchase them under level 50. haha. it really owned my plans. i guess i'll take peoples advice and stock up on the adrenals/health warzone packs. or go with those rated comms. thanks for the tip.
  7. pug is group play, it's just not the group play that you and other premade players want, and so you try to make it your own and then combat the pug players for not wanting your kind. if you want to know why people are complaining, read the countless threads on the topic. all pug players want is for the premades to go off and fight other premades and leave pugs alone, they ruin everything, they're a plague. then they say, "form premades then", or "don't pvp".. why does it never come into their mind that , or you could respect puglife and play in it's style... you seriously can't be away from some fake friends you added to a virtual list to the point you must be attached to each other at all times? ahahaha. pugs have been around long before this game and pugs have always been seperate from the clans/guilds. pugs don't want clans/guilds in the pugs. kindly take your "friends", and go off and fight each other or do whatever is you do. just because puggers don't cling to some virtual friend list doesn't mean it's not group play, we're in a group and we're playing. it's just we want what pugs offer, a more relaxed, random... fun environment.. to play in. it's pickup games on the playgrounds vs professional sports. me, for example.. i don't even consider professional sports a real version of the game... such as american football... that's not the football i know and love. same with video games, i'm a lifelong pugger and will continue to be.. cuz that's what i think represents the purity of what i find gaming to be about. (same as pick up games on the playground). i view premades/non puggers as the elitist/professionals, and as the enemy of the pure game, or true spirit of the game.. i feel like they have ruined countless gaming environments/experiences across a number of games and feel like they hide behind a bunch of lies with their whole "we want challenge" , "we just joke around and don't even try", and on and on. if we're going to play lazer tag, we just want a fun pick up game that's not all serious and full of elitism and crap.. not the kind who brings military esque gear to the lazer tag, with voice coms, and maps of the layout, and strategy they worked out in their moms basement for the past week, and the absolutely latest lazer tag tech, lmao. turning into some serious business, crapfest, the complete antithesis of what pick up groups are all about. "dude, we just want to play some simple fun lazer tag" so, there... you have your explanation. (ps, if you truly are just a group of laid back pugger friends who aren't about turning it into serious business and all of that crap that the elitist premaders bring, then most likely it's not about you. but unfortunately you will have to be lumped into the same category as them, because to let you que as a premade as letting them que as a premade.. so, you see... it's a necessary evil to lump those groups into the same category as the elitist premade plague) because they will always exploit every system, use every advantage. just the nature of the beas. blame them if you want someone to blame. not every premade player is like that, i understand.
  8. people should start marking mara/sent instead of healers. then just mob em and kill em first. of course, that's not a permanent solution and won't always work but it could help adjust to the situation a little bit.
  9. indeed, join the anti-premade legion, our cause is just. premades have no place in pugs, let them fight each other and be together. leave our pugs alone. they want "group activity" and to play with "their friends" , well.. let them do so... together, away from pugs.

    PVP premade sucks

  13. flawed, a "score" computed by machine/system doesn't include certain human variables, such as leadership, calling out inc, supportive words, running over to help, covering teammates, etc, etc. there is more than meets the eye rather than pure numbers.
  14. true, damage can be very effective. the problem with it, is oftentimes you see the damage dealers do things that go against helping your team but rather they do nothing but damage as their sole focus..... say, in huttball when our ball carrier is running to the opposite side and you have 2 damage dealers down in our pit, far away from our ball carrier just mindlessly trying to kill 1 guy the whole time our ball carrier has the ball... i mean, really what's the point, they will probably end up finally killing em and he just spawns and can get right on our ball carrier anyway? that's my big problem with damage dealers is they seem to put their damage above everything else. that's why i look down on it... and maybe don't give someone who does good damage more respect.. cuz i always see damage dealers doing something that annoys me lol.
  15. it could be, say in voidstar.. an aoe situation (where everyone's huddled together). where only a few classes have really effective aoe output (i think). so it possibly pads the damage to a really high number above the rest of the pack. i'm only guessing. usually that's the only time i see someone with really high damage numbers compared to the rest of the teams output.
  16. if only i could vote for myself. http://postimage.org/image/iwitjqdv5/ i post this screenshot because i find it extremely interesting in that screenshot that the highest damage on our team has as much mvp votes as i do, when i healed my butt off for my best healing game so far, that speaks volumes as to how much people still value those damage pew pew numbers. (or that phonx has no votes who did a good job tanking, i put my vote to the other healer) usually i'll give healers who put in good effort my first look. then tanks who i notice switch guard and protect healers and stuff. then i'll kind of base things on my own observations of what i saw on the battlefield. then i'll look at a name i find cool. then i'll look to vote for high damage. pretty much my basic mvp voting strategy since i can't vote for myself. objectives can be tricky, if someone has a really high score i'll take notice but i won't take away my vote because of a low objective score, things like running back and forth in novare coast to reinforce defenses can really cut down your objectives even though you're helping the team, or as a healer i'm running around avoiding enemies all over the place so it's hard to say extend the bridge or plant the bomb when enemies are chasing me around and i have to run all over the place. but the healing allows us to plant the bomb and i think only the one who planted the bomb gets the objective bonus.. so it doesn't always tell the whole story.
  17. there's definitely "skill" involved in an mmo from the players, that's not under question or dispute from me. it's more the essence of what mmo pvp is. i'm not questioning the actual players i'm questioning the mmo pvp itself. to put it forward as an example, there was american professional football and then outside of professional football popped up that league created by, i think vince mcmahon? xtreme football or something? it was a complete joke. there's no denying there were skilled players in the league but the game/league itself was a parody of itself and a joke, especially in comparison to the national football league.
  18. wow pvp is a joke. they can have whatever pathetic arena tournament they want nothing will make that pvp legit, they have sponsored teams more because of warcraft's popularity (i don't know of any sponsored teams myself as i don't follow warcraft, but i don't doubt it because of it's popularity). i used to play in street fighter arcade tournaments, mario tournaments.. other arcade tournaments. (against other players). with mario it was 1 player would go, then the other player would try and do better, with street fighter is was deathmatch style. 2 goes in and plays and only 1 wins and moves on in a bracket. even those were more of a true pvp then warcraft. mario ftw. (what i'm saying is things like starcraft/unreal tournament had sponsors/tournaments due to the actual pvp elements (from my perspective and what i observed)... they were so insane that through the underground they got noticed, and based on the performance, etc... but with warcraft it's just putting a stamp on it cuz it's popular.. there's a huge difference). warcraft should be the example of why an mmo pvp shouldn't be taken serious.
  19. yeah, true.. i can't argue there. that's a pretty hardcore scene, i was never involved in that but i heard stories, saw vids, read stuff about, etc. both of those are pretty legit. i don't know which one would be more of a true pvp gaming experience. just cuz i'm not as familiar with star craft, i know in korea though it's crazy.
  20. what you call twitch i call hand-eye coordination.. which is an actual skill, it's something professional sports players rely on. there was a serious professional scene in ut. with insanely challenging games. dunno if one can still find the g4tv series that would air some of the tournament matches. but players had sponsors, would earn real cash and go around to different tournaments and make thousands. it was no joke. i was never that good a player to be in the tournaments, i was probably a little above average but i'm just a pugger for the most part.. but i would sit in on some of the more hardcore games through spectator mode and they were INSANE!. mmo pvp cannot compare, i'm sorry to say. mmo pvp is what it is but it's laughable when all these elitist and premaders think they're big men and so awesome. haha. as if mmo pvp was srz beezneez. i find it pretty funny though so it keeps me laughing.
  21. imo, credit rewards should be something based on solo performance, mainly. the idea of career pvp'rs who sort of pvp for credits something similar to a modern day boxer or mma fighter is very interesting. i'd like to see alot of credits reward for alot of medals. gives a new aspect to the mercenary, pvp'ng for the credits and becoming rich from it.. or the greedy outlaw type. say 10k credits for every medal 10 and above? dunno, something like that. i don't see why pvp shouldn't be very profitable. (and yes i realize the whole thing about "it ruins team pvp and so and so forth".. that's an interesting experiment, however.. teamplay vs solo gain.. would be an interesting experiment to watch unfold)
  22. there are different reasons why people might need to leave a warzone, it's ridiculous to penalize them. they pay the monthly fee they have the right to leave if they want. instead of focusing on punishing them, instead there should be focus on warzone ques in reference to server populations.. where there's a constant stream of players qued up so if one leaves another is right there to take the place. there are a number of things that destroy my fun, should all of those result in a ban for others as well? ban premades, band elitists, band guilds, ban spammers, ban people who sit on their big vehicles all through the fleet, etc. why not? it ruins my fun.
  23. you're not going to succeed in every situation, i can't see getting worked up over one circumstance, it's the nature of the beast where you go in to hopeless games with little time left to do much. it's a quick match you just accept it's fate, try your best and move on. now, if it continues to happen in a pattern.. that's when it becomes a problem. you can't cry foul after every singular problem, wait untill they become pattern problems. not saying you're wrong in any way i'm just saying it doesn't quite seem to be on red alert levels of a problem as of yet. to be seen, so to speak. how long's the quick patch even been out for? lol.
  24. well, in fps multiplayer games.. for example. it's basically the same thing over and over but it's fun. and people continue to play it for years. there is no grind, the fun is what keeps people playing.
  25. it wasn't a single hit, he probably used shoot first, backblast... pistol whip, punches in like 5 seconds and got him down to 40%. shoot first with ko knocks you down for 2-3 seconds (around 4k). so that's enough time to land a backlast (probably around 2k?)/pistol whip(1k?) while he's getting up and punch (1.5k?). so.. like the complete arsenal of scrapper lands for 8k damage in like 5 seconds. wow! they're so op. meanwhile a merc is blasting for 7k in 1 shot.
