Mara's are quite possibly the best class in small scale combat. If this game were wow arenas or duels they would be kings. However for objective play (winning warzones) they are potentially the worst class in the game. They are also weak in larger scale fights. The bottom line is despite their strengths, when it comes to competitive play you will see a single mara for the healing debuff and thats about it.

The actual pvp/fighting portions of the game are quite fun. The gear setup, ilum being the worst zone ever (and having to go there for dailies) and a bunch of other things make the overall experience a letdown. Its a shame because if the game was just WZ's and commendations it would be awesome.

It depends on the perspective you are looking at it from. I mean a massive portion of players are extremely casual and might not even hit max level, or spend most of the the time with solo content. Then a lot of people will only do small dungeons when they hit max level. So on a grand scale yes, pvpers are relatively small. However in the case of diehard players, pvpers make up a large portion of the game.

Melee are much harder to play first of all. Second they will always have natural handicaps such as the larger the battle, the worse they become. Also they are worse at objective gameplay usually. As far as this game is concerned, from a combat standpoint melee are pretty solid (if this were like wow arenas or something). The problem is objective play and the larger scale of warzones makes them less effective. Most importantly huttball is the most ranged friendly map of all time. Some have it worse than others, and they can still do ok, but outside of a tanks you are better off with sorcs/commandos ext.

Ilum is terrible and likely always will be terrible. Its fine for them to try, but I hate the fact that we are forced to go there for progression purposes. Its either pointless pve things, or massive zergfests without actual play. Id rather everything were just WZ based.

Ive gotten it with all 3 specs. One of the 15 second potions, relic, pvp pot, (I forget the name but our 15% damage ability) and qz red buff. As long as you dont have crap gear, and dont hit anyone with to much armor/expertise its not that bad. Granted I quit this patch, so im not sure if its harder with all 50 wz's.

I quit after they didn't do a rollback from the ilum fiasco (thank god they did it BEFORE billing, so I safely cancelled). That said, a huge concern of mine along with the valor farming was the difficulty of doing the ilum dailies. You should be able to walk out whenever you want as a player, and complete a daily quest in 30 minutes or under. Expecting people to spend like 5 hours A DAY doing two dailies is just stupid. Valor farming, lack of queues and all that other stuff is also icing on the cake. They completely destroyed pvp in a game that was doing pretty good in a single day.

I can speak for marauders in saying that its set up that way, at least if you are doing things right. All 3 specs require buildup and or timing to properly maximize burst/pvp effectiveness. Its probably the best setup class ive ever played in an mmo actually (though extremely complex in some cases). Obviously thats not the case for all classes (tracer missile tracer missile tracer missile), but it does exist.

They should have either a) left it how it was while they designed something that wasn't completely awful or b) completely shut down the zone. I still cannot believe they didn't shut down servers instantly and done a rollback. How stupid can you possibly be? Now they have done irreparable damage to the pvp. Im just glad they did it the day before billing, saved me 15 bucks. Oh and after that slap to the face of grinding out BM, theyll never see me again.

Great post. This patch absolutely destroyed pvp and did irreparable damage. If they weren't stupid they would have taken servers down asap and done a rollback (either disabling ilum, or keeping it the old way and coming up with a new design). I cancelled myself yesterday after the hard grind to battlemaster. This is the biggest slap in the face ive ever had as a consumer and will never play this game again. Its a shame because it was awesome.

I put in about 5 days played to hit battlemaster. That time was essentially WASTED and thrown away for nothing a mere couple days after I hit it. Thats the biggest slap in the face ive ever received from a gaming company. EA and Bioware are both dead to me for good after this.

I did the same. Also my thoughts are the same as the OP. I for the life of me cant understand why they didn't drop servers and roll back as soon as they saw this was a problem to minimize the damage. They seriously have to be the stupidest people in the history of the gaming industry.

Hmm maybe 6 hours of warzones? or SIX DAYS of playtime. HMMMMMMMMM. Which is a bigger sacrifice? If they weren't the stupidest people in the gaming industry they would have dropped servers and done a rollback immediately and solved all problems. Then noone gets hurt.

Nice BS attempt at damage control. Not falling for it. This isn't keeping up with the kardashians. If a ton of people doing the same thing, why only focus on an extremely small portion? Also ANYONE that stepped foot out there got a nice advantage, and did it in the same method. Why be selective? Exactly. Just like them talking about punishing "extreme cases". They aren't going to do anything. Even if they did something, a ridiculous amount of players got a massive advantage today.

There joke of a statement of taking action is to try and save some subs. They are going to do barely anything, if anything at all. If they weren't stupid they would have taken servers down the second they saw this as a problem and done a rollback. Now you either waste the time of everyone bging all day, or screw over those who grinded BM like myself. I cannot BELIEVE these people actually get paid money and get to support their families by being a detriment to their industry.

So youve played like 6 hours? Good for you. I have 5-6 DAYS of gametime thrown down the drain. Give me a break. If bioware was retarded they would have taken down servers immediately and done a rollback. Problem solved, barely anyone gets hurt. I unsubbed a few hours ago. At this point they have to convince me to stay. It took like 5-6 days of playtime to get battlemaster. Now its being done in hours. Thats the biggest kick to the face ive seen from a game company in my life. I wont support a game or company who treats my time with such disregard.
