  1. As a healer, I'm still very saddened by the UI. In that sense, I'd like to see addons simply because someone would do a much, much better job than Bioware has. Almost nothing has changed since launch, and it's very frustrating. Beyond that, I'd personally like auction and crafting addons of various kinds, but I'm doing fine without them. Just wish they'd improve HoT and debuff tracking, and allow mouseover casting. That's the only addon functionality I really miss.
  2. Fighting over quest items is part of the deal for doing dailies. In any game. If you don't want to do it, don't do dailies. I agree with others that decreasing player interaction for dailies is a bad idea. A better idea, instead of every person trying to click on quest objects, is to encourage people around you to group up. Even on a highly populated instance of BH this greatly speeds up the process.
  3. A thought I've had since launch revolves around why game companies aren't providing rankings for PVE content in some way. One of the best things for me towards the end of my WoW days was killing a boss and seeing that top 100 world kill. It really gave incentive to raid several days a week, as we were rewarded by some kind of actual ranking. I have wondered why MMO-makers don't jump on the competitive nature of gamers and provide a ranking of some sort. There is no real way for someone to data-mine boss kills in SWTOR. Let this be my formal request for BW to implement something that at least ranks guilds in terms of the timing of boss kills.
  4. Encourage people to group up for quest objectives also. For instance in the BH people group up to do end of torvix but then go their separate ways to do the other quests. Stay together and do the area quest and it makes it go so much faster for everyone. It doesn't take much encouragement to get people to group for dailies, in my experience.
  5. Personally I loved space missions for the first month the game was out. I have barely done one since. It needs something....else. To make you replay the same mission over and over and over. I've done the level 50 daily a few times and if I ever have to shoot another mine again, I'm going to explode. What a boring way to spend 8 minutes, just blindly shooting things and re-charging shields in between. It needs some kind of freedom, some kind of strategy, some kind of co-op, some kind of.....something.
  6. A couple of points: Maybe alot of people who left the game, there was not really anything BW could do. Maybe they were Star Wars junkies who didn't like MMOs. Maybe they were WoW/GW2 fanboys who wanted to claim the game was failing. Maybe they really didn't want to pay $15 / month because they wanted to keep playing WoW and didn't want 2 subs. It seems to me there is a really good case that it's not just about content here. 2nd, I am in complete agreement with the OP. Especially on one key point: IF THEY MAKE SUBSCRIBERS PAY TO OBTAIN ITEMS THAT CAN'T BE OBTAINED IN THE GAME THROUGH NATURAL MEANS THEN I WILL IMMEDIATELY LEAVE. This is non-debatable. That would be a horribly awful way to treat people who pay for the game and it would be a sign of what the game will be about for the next few years. If I can get a speeder by killing an operation boss and it costs 10 bucks for somebody to buy it, that's fine with me. If I can only obtain it by spending 10 bucks then I'm gone. That simple.

  8. 1) I have seen developer discussions about armor, and the community at large has reacted negatively to the general freakishness of the armor. They have said they are toning it down considerably, but the development time for new content means that will lag behind a little. But this complain has been heard and they are toning it down. 2) It's a money sink. It is what it is. It makes decisions slightly more difficult. 3) I get the feeling dynamic lighting like that will never make it into the game. But I have seen recent developer interviews about having unique events quite often in the game. 4) Agree 5) Can't really comment based on kotor, but I think building a group of 4 out of companions would be awesome. I would even love the ability to have logic-based spell usage, similar to Dragon Age: Origins. I loved tinkering with the logic for my party in that game, and can see many ways it would be fun in SWTOR.
  9. I know alot of people have answered but I'll try to jump in here with my opinions. The levelling process in SWTOR is IMO longer but more engaging than WOW. The story lines for the class quests are amazing, and even the storylines on each planet are usually quite epic. The story in WoW requires you to read, while in SWTOR the story is told to you with excellent voice-acting. TO answer your other questions: Benefits of SWTOR: -Freaking lightsabers -story -diversity of characters (unique story for all 8 classes, 5 companions with unique stories for every class) Is this game really involved: - like any MMO, it's really as involved as you want to make it. You can level and craft items to sell and PVP and if that's all you want to do then you will be happy. You can also run operations and min/max every last ounce of dps or healing or survivability out of your gear, and play the game that way. You have alot of options. Personally, I find that end-game gearing in SWTOR is more involved because most items have interchangeable armoring, mods, and enhancements. For some (me) this can be annoying, but others enjoy it's uniqueness and customization. what do people try to earn: Again like other MMO's, there are mounts, pets, and high-end PVE and PVP gear that people try to earn. The achievement system is frankly lacking compared to other games, but if you're a collector, there will still be plenty to do getting all the datacrons, codex entries, pets, mounts, etc.
  10. In my opinion, and this is slightly off-topic, but internet connectivity is so much worse for the experience of most gamers than the game industry evolving towards excessive story-telling. Console gaming is essentially worthless right now to me, unless you're playing an online game, and compared to an MMO, I'd just rather play the MMO. I spent a good part of 5 years just shooting people in halo, and while it's an adrenaline rush that kept me up way past decency, i just don't see the point anymore. On to my main point. The prevalence of internet connectivity in this generation of consoles has led game developers to be lazy: 1) in the amount of content they put into a game, because they can milk us for 45 more dollars with the sham of 'downloadable content' (which has really just made games shorter while making us pay an excessive amount of money for a few more hours of game that would have been there in the past anyway) 2) in the quality of the product that is initially released, because it can be patched later. This is particularly prevalent in EA Sports titles, to single out one company who puts out horrendous products then fixes them over the course of 6 months, so that essentially the life cycle of one of their games being 'complete' is only a few months. This is a real crisis in console gaming. It's the main reason I'm an MMO player now. Playing 1 console game costs ~90 bucks with all DLC, plus you're paying half the monthly fee of an MMO for the internet service. It's a complete and utter sham to be a console gamer in this day and age. end slightly related rant.

  12. Once LFR came out I was no longer interested in downing the content. LFR cheapens the entire process of raiding IMO. Dungeon finder was a good addition IMO. LFR takes it way too far. If I had to pick a reason why I unsubbed WoW it would be the combination of LFR and kung-fu panda happening at about the same time. I felt no excitement for the game. In truth it's been building for all of Cata, but these were the single greatest catalysts.
  13. 50 operative, 39 sorc, 10 warrior. Bored on the operative, but I actually just dont really like the character. Both of the siths I like alot more. I made the warrior because I was annoyed that my sorc just holds his lightsaber while lightning blasting people all day. It's just there to taunt me while i cant really use it for anything. This game would be alot more fun at max level if it were easier to get groups. My server is finally starting to see quite a few pugs for operations, which is excellent, but getting a decent group for flashpoints is still very tough. They'll improve the system, I'm just going to patiently enjoy the other stories and character types while I wait. By the time the game really hits it's stride I'll be able to pick and choose which character is my favorite and go from there.
  14. I've literally spent 15 seconds in a heroic quest as a healer trying to click on someone's companion. It's insanely difficult to get the cursor to click on them. I've found the only way to really do it is to click on their feet.
