  1. 1v.1 is so rare that it's hard to judge, but Sorcerer is probably my biggest worry. Could very well be that I'm doing it wrong, but I never really expect to live long during PvP, it's just a matter of how much I can sling out before I die and have to respawn.
  2. It's like watching a giant "Who Moved My Cheese" experiment. For whatever reason, lots of folks feel entitled to their class never changing or only getting better, and don't particularly care about the game as a whole. People need to adjust their expectations, and either have fun playing or go find something else to do.
  3. I use project occasionally to proc. twin disciplines. I don't have telekinetic throw on my hotbar and haven't used it for 30 levels or more.
  4. As a general design decision Bioware seems to have made the reasonable choice to balance the other classes down (nerf) rather then balance weaker specs up (buff). I personally like that choice because nothing can ruin a game faster than power inflation.
  5. Go check out the other forums, they're all howling, too. In a general sense, it seems that Bioware made the conscious decision to make the game "harder" by weakening nerfing most classes down to the "weakest" class rather then go for the game ruining power inflation of buffing weak classes. Since it's their game, they get to decide how hard it is. A we get to decide if we want to pay for it.
  6. As a balance shadow there were 2 abilities I had to interrupt, which wasn't difficult because they are only used in a particular phase of the fight. During phase 1 he uses project, and Phase 2 is when he switches to the cavern collapse. Interrupting those 2 abilities, with Theran healing makes the fight manageable. I found the fight easier then Stark or Attis Station, though harder than the the other storyline bosses.
  7. Pants are easy, now an long modible robe with a hood is truly rare. There's only 1, am I right?
  8. Actually leveling and the side quests are my focus and PvP is just a fun filler for when I need a break. I'm mainly playing for the story.
  9. I haven't found any resource I can reliably look to for screenshots of gear yet. In addition to looking for pants I'm particularly interesting if finding shots of the various lightsabers. The best I can find right now is TORHead, which is pretty limited.
  10. My rationale for mind over matter was that in leveling PvE I generally don't see much in the way of movement impairing effects, and more efficient AOE for trash gives more bang for the buck. I completely agree that PvP changes that tradeoff, however.
  11. Just toying around with a solo leveling/ light PvP build. I generally don't like the changes to Balance since the force strike change made force technique mandatory. Is this build totally nuts? http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_consular/shadow/#::f20e8fdfe2fefef2ef3efef3ef2ef2efe: I welcome any thoughts, though constructive criticism would be more helpful.
  12. Granted the problem is server specific, but crit crafted orange gear and finding augments are only options on severs with a functioning economy, which many don't have. Population issues are restricting a lot of people's gear options. Alderaan and Balmorra both have easily obtainable pants that are perfectly functional.
  13. At lower levels (pre-35 or so) balance in combat technique and generator can tank heroics fine. Above that, however, mobs start hitting harder, DPS classes start dishing out more damage, and KC becomes the only viable tanking tree. Balance is a decent spec, but once you get past Nar Shadda it's only for DPS.
  14. As a dps shadow I died several times trying this with Nadia, Theran and even Qyzen until I realized the trick. Jump up on the crates. I chose the crates along the back wall. You can then use the beam/pillar as cover to break his LOS on the projects. All I had to do then was interrupt his heals and chip away at him with my own projects or dots. I recommend Theran to give some breathing room in case you don't manage to break LOS all the time. The fight takes awhile (by far the longest in the game) but with this strategy it's manageable.
  15. It may be neither here nor there, but Sanctum has a ton of posts on the server cluster forum. You could roll on both and level through Coruscant/Dromund Kass on both and then pick the one you like better. As your particular play times and faction choice will likely effect things quite a bit.
  16. I love RP. I've been RPing for 25 years, across multiple pen and paper/Mu**/mmorpgs. I don't RP here. The reason...the chat system UI is by the far the worst I've ever seen in any multiplayer game. For me, it's unusable, and until it's fixed I sadly won't be RPing here.
  17. There isn't a tree that can't level quickly in this game. It's not so much a question as to whether Balance can level, but whether the other options are more efficient, which they are. At endgame and in PvP (in my limited experience) balance is perfectly viable as DOTs have more time to work their magic.
  18. So few in what context? I can't really speak to PvP or endgame, but for leveling Balance survivability took a hit from the change to Force strike and the almost mandatory use of force technique now.
  19. I think the change that's throwing a wrench into my playstyle is the force strike change. Before, while soloing I commonly ran in combat technique and had no problem keeping sever force, mind crush and twin discipline up whenever I wanted. The change to force strike has completely thrown off my rotation and force technique makes me WAY squishier then I like. I can understand wanting to make keeping DOTs up easier, but I'd rather have survivability. May be that I just need to respec to KC.
  20. I've been playing some alts for the past couple weeks and just returned to my level 47 balance shadow. What the heck happened to my surviability and damage? I seem to be doing about a 1/3 less DPS and am taking WAY more damage. Plus Theran is healing like crap. Seriously, did the last patch break shadows THAT much?
  21. I don't. For IC purposes, I look at the class and companion arches and my player RP as parallel universes. I don't see how you could do it anyother way, unless you never RP with characters of the same class.
  22. Another point to consider...Bastilla Shan begat....yadda yadda...begat Satele Shan, who begat Theron Shan. While having a child is certainly different then marriage, it's not like romantic relationships are exactly unknown, and Satele went on to become the grand master of the order. Ultimately it might come down to "what's good for a master isn't necessarily good for a padawan."
  23. I didn't have a significant challenge with her when I did the quest so I'm not entirely sure what tactic I used. IIRC, As a level 32ish Balance Shadow I used Theran, interrupted what I could, kept all my DOTs on her, and kited a bit to keep Theran and me out of her AOE.
  24. Since the patch a couple weeks ago, I've notice his heals have been less "Johny on the spot." I've also noticed my own abilities seem to have more lag to them and my graphics performance hasn't been quite as good. These issue may be unrelated, but it seems like there might be latency or server issues.
  25. I've noticed the same issue, since the last patch, so it might have something to do with that.
