  1. Stock Evening DATE: March 14th TIME: 9-12 EST SERVER: POT5 Rules: All ships allowed provided they have stock components and crew. You may swap copilot. If you are interested, please reply to this forum with your player name for the event. It would be nice if people made a new alt with the word stock in it so everyone knows you're in the stock night. For example, my alt will be named Yallia-stock. Also, if you reply to this thread with your stock names, you will be entered into a sweepstakes for a cartel market ship. I'll randomly pick a winner and that person can pick any cartel ship of their choice. You can pick what toon you want the ship sent to--doesn't have to be a POT5 toon.
  2. Thanks for suggesting this Barter, had a good time. Looking forward to next Tuesday
  3. Lol, got my days confused, thought it was Monday, then realized the 3rd is Tuesday. Thx
  4. Bump as reminder. I'll be queuing with people starting at 9. See ya guys in space
  5. Welcome to GSF!!! So fully understanding the accuracy stat also requires an explanation about tracking penalty and firing arcs. Let's use rapid-fire lasers as an example, according to the game, rapids have a firing arc of 32 degrees and a tracking penalty of 0.8% per degree. Furthermore, they have the following accuracy for close (520 meters, 110%), medium (3120 m, 85%) and far (4160 m, 75%). You may be wondering, what is a firing arc? All you ever see is a circle on your screen, which is what people lazily call the firing arc. Note that I'm refering to the big circle, and not the reticle that you move with the mouse. Anyways, the circle is of course 360 degrees, so where does the 32 degrees come from? The circle you see is the base of a cone, the angle of the tip of the cone is what the 32 degrees refers to (see here:http://i.imgur.com/ZxovJd2.jpg[/img]"]http://i.imgur.com/ZxovJd2.jpg). In the diagram you can see how the cone would have a larger base for larger angles. So when an upgrade increases your firing arc, your circle gets bigger. Now the tracking penalty is depicted on the right side of the diagram, if your reticle is in the middle of your firing arc, you have a 85% chance of landing the shot--assuming medium range distance. As you move your reticle left or right this value drops. Each laser has a different dropping rate defined in % per degree. So given the above example, if you activated wingman your accuracy will increase from 85 to 105% for the middle of the circle.
  6. I can't think of any reason why this would be so bad that it shouldn't be attempted. If it really sucks, we just don't do it again. I'm totally down.
  7. I can organize the imperial effort Barter. I'll spread the word to imp guilds, I know sith united will queue and I'll try to make sure they don't stack premades. We have some new guys who would be interested in learning gsf and this might be a good opportunity for them.
  8. Lots of intense matches tonight, nice to see so many people participating from different servers. Thanks to Drakolich for hosting it. Can't wait till the next one.
  9. Is'pep and myself will be looking for two people. I'll be asking in gsf chat, or whisper me (Yallias). Good luck to everyone
  10. Thanks for playing everyone! I had 26 registered names and the winner of the raffle was Callipygian! You get to pick any CM ship, and I'll deliver it to any toon, on any server. Connect me via PM, in game, or in this post Callipygian. Remember Drakolich's SUPER SERIOUS NIGHT is JAN 24th on BASTION!!!!! Be there people, be there.
  11. All ships are allowed as long as they are kept stock. Also, everyone who's been given their player name will be entered for the CM ship raffle (unless they requested not to be entered). See you guys tonight!
  12. I'll be there, I'll try to bring as many as I can from POT5, at least three others.
  13. Quads have higher power draw than heavies, so if your issue is accuracy, quads will hurt you more. I'd also recommend quick charge shields over directionals at this point. Let's you focus more on flying. I agree with what's been said, so I won't rehash, but I will say, WELCOME TO GSF!
  14. POT5 is getting better, as long as you are queuing between 6-12 pm est, the queue pops are about a few minutes most nights. There's quite a few good pilots but they don't play on other servers, nor do they read the forums. Some of them are like hermits.
  15. I thought it would be a good idea to have a list of GSF streamers, maybe one exists, but I couldn't find it. So far I know of the following: Drakolich Twitch only gsf KeenSauce Twitch gsf and other swtor things Yallia Twitch only gsf, hope to add more stuff soon Sith United Twitch gsf and ground pvp, most of my stuff ends up here Tomeateejedota Twitch only gsf Hobbes2oo Twitch Baldylox Twitch please add to list if you'd like EDIT: List Updated
  16. Stock Evening DATE: JAN 17th TIME: 9-12 EST SERVER: POT5 Rules: All ships allowed provided they have stock components and crew. You may swap copilot. 17. 12 Matches of footage from POT5 Stock Night. Watch all on youtube Thanks for everyone who played, and sorry it took so long to finish the editing and stuff.
  18. POT5 is usually fairly well balanced (imp/pub) in terms of numbers, but in terms of skill imp usually wins. However, many of us fly both sides, so it can depend. In terms of queue pops, in a night I'll probably get 10 matches in 3 hrs, so average pops about 10 min. Sometimes it's instant, but of course it depends. From my experience on Bastion, Ebon Hawk, Shadowlands, and Harbinger, our pops aren't any worse or better. By around midnight east coast, the queues dry up for weekdays. Expect about another hour or so more on weekends. What time are you usually on?
  19. I doubt Xi'ao was referring to the act of pressing a button as the challenge. I believe what he meant was that when dealing with multiple engagements, which is quite common in strikes, you must now worry about shield placement as well as flying the ship. A new pilot's attention shouldn't be diverted like that, furthermore, even for experienced pilots you can easily have your shields in the wrong position. As the engagement unfolds you cannot know the best position at all points in time to properly shift shield power. Of course, you could simply keep them split, which is what I suspect most do, though one can argue you're not really using the active ability. A new pilot may think the "correct" way to play directional shields against multiple bogies is to always try and position the shields correctly. This could lead to more deaths than kills.
  20. Is this what you are looking for? http://dulfy.net/2013/11/11/swtor-galactic-starfighter-ships-and-components-guide/ Keep in mind some of the stat numbers are wrong--granted they aren't all correct in the game anyways--, but the ship components are correct.
  21. As a holiday item, what about t a speeder that is pulled by tauntauns? Could have a bunch of them pulling it (say 12) and the first could have a red nose.
  22. Probably because they (devs) think it's inappropriate to highlight one player's post as a sticky, especially since it has his name on it. It is useful, but there are more appropriate places for it like Dulfy's website, or 42gaming. More people would see it there anyways, I know a lot of gsfers who don't use the forums, but use Dulfy's daily.
  23. Maybe Dulfy's is right, but that assumes the original tooltips were correct, which I doubt they all were. I usually view tooltips as guidelines for what a ship component may be able to do. That's why I don't do number crunching for builds, it's not worth the frustration.
  24. Overuse of gunships in death matches is definitely very frustrating for solo queues. Especially since rank-and-file gsfers don't coordinate, which is especially need against multiple gunships (or bombers). My team will typically see several matches a night where the enemy team is using 4+ gunships on lost shipyards. Besides using scouts and gunships as several people have suggested, we will use a decimus with interdiction sentry and interdiction drive. If you have the decimus lead the charge with 2 scouts, drop one or two interdiction sentries and pop your interdiction drive, you'll basically prevent the gunships from escapeing and the scouts will chew through them. But again, this requires teamwork, and that's the underlying issue with a lot of gsf--to really get the most out of it you need a team. If you're team won't change ships and they just keep feeding the gunships there's nothing one man can do.
