  3. Yes we will. Please see post http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=8681884#post8681884 The event will be live streamed at our website. Hope you can watch it!
  4. Due to the SRW vs. Progenitor event on Dec 12th, SRW high command has rerouted our flagship Shadow Carrier. We're looking forward to some great games and lots of fun from our Europeans friends. Make sure to catch all the action on Dec 12th 1 pm est. We will be live streaming event on our website.
  5. You changed the date, and it now clashes with our strike night http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=855839. Also, you never updated the title of your post.
  6. SRW STRIKE/T3 BOMBER EVENT STRIKES, STRIKES, and...T3 Bombers! Our November event was a big success, so we have decided to try and do this on a monthly basis. Rules: You can use any strike fighter and/or a T3 (Decimus/Sledgehammer) bomber. Several players asked if we could include the forgotten T3 bomber into the mix to spice things up. So, we're going to experiment with that. Where: Shadowlands pubside When: Dec. 19th (Saturday) 9-12 pm est Team event: Yes. Our teamspeak will be available to everyone. Just right click on the server address at our website. Faction: Republic. Having everyone queue up on one side for war games will make it so faction balancing isn't an issue. Also, we had a lot of people making characters for our recent conquest event, therefore, I imagine a lot of the people showing up won't have to completely grind out a new toon. Prize: 2,000,000 credits, 2 grand starfighter packs, 1 blue gas canister, 1 yellow-orange engine reactant, 1 red-orange color mod. Only people who sign up for the event will be legible for the raffle. Signing up means replying to this post, on our website or telling me in game, etc. You can even sign up the day of the event by whispering me or another SRW person in game (e.g. Vexxial, Siraka, Xcal, etc). There are no hard deadlines for signing up. I check during the event numerous times so I don't miss people, just in case you're antisocial and don't like replying
  7. Thanks I'll check them out, I know Bolo (Challintra) was also streaming at http://twitch.tv/gsfacewannabe.
  8. Thanks for making this list. It's quite useful. Can you play battlefront exclusively for squadron? I was thinking of picking it up on Tuesday for PC, but looking at your pro/con list it's probably not worth it. The first two pros have to do with current popularity and an obviously superior graphics engine, the rest are kind of opinions (i.e. some people thing evasion is good/bad). You mentioned that doing well lets you get stuff for the ground game, so there's no progression in squadron? You mentioned no customization, which I read as saying no progression as well. If that's true, unless they add content, do you think it has any staying power or will be a wasteland of mostly AI bots once everyone gets over the hype? Thanks
  9. For those of you who couldn't make it to strike night, we had quite a few really good close matches. I picked the strike vs strike matches, which also happened to be the closest matches, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks to all those that participated, even though many didn't have mastered ships yet. We plan on doing this monthly, currently trying to figure out holiday schedules Matches:
  10. Thanks to everyone who could make it! Congratulations to Erutavruc for winning the raffle prize! We had more strike vs strike matches than I thought, which was great, not to mention they were the closest matches of the night. It's been a while since I've seen a domination match timeout. I went through the footage and pulled the close strike vs strike team matches. There's sometimes 1 player here or there not in a strike, but basically 100% strikes vs strikes. Also, match maker loved Kuat Mesas last night. Matches:
  11. Glad you guys can make it! It starts in 20 min, I'll be streaming it here at 9.
  12. I updated the OP to reflect the prize. Looking forward to Saturday!
  13. You're most welcome, hope you can make it to our Strike Night Event Nov 14th!
  14. SRW Strike Night! STRIKES, STRIKES, and More STRIKES! Back by popular demand, we are hosting a Strike ONLY Night to honor the nearly forgotten class of GSF. Rules: You can only use strikes. There are no other restrictions. Where: Shadowlands When: Nov. 14th (Saturday) 9-12 pm est Team event: Yes. Our teamspeak will be available to everyone. Just right click on the server address at our website Faction: Republic. Having everyone queue up on one side for war games will make it so faction balancing isn't an issue. Also, we had a lot of people making characters for our recent conquest event, therefore, I imagine a lot of the people showing up won't have to completely grind out a new toon. Prizes: We will be doing a Prize Raffle similar to what we did for the conquest event but without tiers. We will announce the prizes when we are a bit closer to the event (need to see what stuff is released with 4.0). Note: If you send me a tell at 11:58 pm the night of the event, no you will not be signed up Prize: 2,000,000 credits, 2 grand starfighter packs, 1 blue gas canister, 1 yellow-orange engine reactant, 1 red-orange color mod.
  15. It was a great week of GSF on Shadowlands, and I think we're all a bit amazed at how many conquest points we raised. It was a very fun event to organize and I'm glad to have seen so many people from different servers coming to help GSF out. From all of us at SRW, THANK YOU! I will be mailing all of you your items in game shortly. For the grand prize winner, I will contact you in game to discuss what server you'd like your prizes delivered to. NOTE: As the week progressed we noticed a number of people passing the 100,000 mark. We initially had not anticipated such efforts, but were very happy to see them. In an effort to make it more fair, we decided that anyone with more than 100,000 pts would be entered more than once for the grand prize. For example, 50,000 pts = 1 entry in grand prize drawing 100,000 pts = 2 entries in grand prize drawing 150,000 pts = 3 entries in grand prize drawing, etc That way someone who went "beyond the call of duty" would get some benefit for their hard work. For the next event we are going to have a lot more prizes and hopefully cool 4.0 stuff--assuming they release cool 4.0 stuff. Minor Prize Packs (10,000 CP+): Major Prize Packs (35,000 CP+): Grand Prize (50,000 CP+): Be sure to keep an eye out for the next event! Sometimes the holidays bring more than annoying relatives....
  16. Streaming the Shadowlands Conquest event at here. Come watch and hang out if you want! edit: done for tonight
  17. I used to fly the TZ-24 a lot against scouts and I would not recommend RFL with Ions. HLC and wingman are the keys to beating a scout, RFL is kinda pointless, but I would use it at very close range, it's not as bad as everyone seems to think. My build is HLC (4 left, 5 left) RFL (4 right, 5 right) cluster (4 left, 5 right) retro (left) directional (right) large reactor regen thrusters range cap regen mag The control of retro and wingman are very important, these they are basically the only trump cards you have. Surviving against scouts is a lot about position and situational awareness, you can't straight joust them like if you're flying a scout. Nor do you want to get into a turning war because nothing beats BLC in a close range fight. Trying to make a strike do that won't work. I would usually watch a scout till they are have burned enough of their engines that engaging them is more favorable. A great way is to constantly missile lock on them and force engine use. A lot of times I won't even shoot the scout when doing this so I don't waste weapon energy. You don't want the scout to suddenly turn on you and then you have no weapon power for an engagement . Also, HLC have heavy weapon tracking penalties, so most off center shots aren't worth it. When the scout is around 6900 meters away, pop wingman and hit them at max range (6900 m), then most scouts will joust you. When you get to 3000 meters you retro and keep shooting. Power should be to F1, and shields should be forward. In the case of the scout using pods, you need to be careful and you should always be ready to bail quickly by boosting either through or at an angle away from the target. My best piece of advice is to learn the limits of a strike and don't try to make it do things it wasn't designed to do. I'll be streaming tonight for the shadowlands event and will mostly be flying strikes if you're interesting in watching. I'll make a separate post about the stream since it's for an event, but the link is in my signature.
  18. Having tried all of them, I don't think it really matters that much. As your plots show--assuming a linear y-axis--the max relative change within a case is maybe ~10%, generally much less than that. So, considering the impossibility of accumulating real-world data because no one can create controls in GSF--hell we can't even get double premade action half the time when we are all sync queuing--I've stopped splitting hairs between them. In some cases (matches), one might be more useful than another for a particular 1v1 and such, but there's no straightforward advantage to picking one over another.
  19. Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing is proud to announce the first Shadowlands Starfighter Invasion event Oct 6-11 (Republic Guild Event)! Goal of this Event: The aim of this event is to increase GSF awareness by competing for conquest (and winning) during Clash in Hyperspace Event. This event, unlike other GSF events, will be a "marathon style" event, taking place over a full week's conquest period, rather than for specific times on a specific night. We are asking all able bodied pilots to help assist us in this goal. To help motivate pilots, we are giving away prizes at different conquest point levels. While we will be facing each other mostly throughout the week, we will all be working TOGETHER to represent the GSF community, and prove to the rest of the playerbase that we pilots are a force to be reckoned with! Eligibility: You must be guild member to be eligible for prizes, this is so that we can share a common goal, as well as allowing for a tiered prize system. At the outset of the event be sure to contact a member of our guild or ask in GSF chat for an invite (even if it is only temporary). The only responsibility you have is to fly as much gsf as you can during the week of Oct 6-11 so we can accumulate conquest points as a team. We will be attempting to even out premades, and thus we will discourage players from flying in overpowered groups by evening out experienced, mastered players with less geared or experienced fliers. Following the event, everyone who joined the guild specifically for this contest is free to leave, however, if you wish to continue to fly with Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing following the event, we would be happy to have you. Teamspeak: Our teamspeak is open to all and can be accessed by clicking on the teamspeak link on the right side of the homepage. Or you can just whisper me in game or just ask in the gsf channel. (type /cjoin gsf to join the channel) Premades: With so many people coming to play gsf pub side we are going to get a lot of wargames. We are aware this it is not fair for people rolling new toons to run into a mastered premade, since we are all working together and no one wants to get beat time after time because they have no gear. So, we will not be making such premades. We are going to try to group people to make even teams as much as we possibly can. Solo-queing is also an option, and is neither encouraged nor discouraged. Stock players will be able to contribute just as much as mastered ones, since conquest points are our primary goal for this event. Ideally, we will be facing off against mostly mix and matched groups of other republic premades in the event, and groups of 4 will be switched back and forth. However, we also have word that a large imperial conquest guild is planning to compete with us, so we will also be facing off against them in game, and thus we can hopefully cultivate a healthy rivalry! PRIZES Those with enough conquest points will be entered into draws for prize packs at different levels. Prize packs will typically contain an assortment of items, including armor sets, GSF color schemes, paint jobs, engine reactants, and other items that fit together with the overall theme of the pack. GRAND PRIZE 50,000 CP and up (tier 3): Zakuul Armor Set Zakuul Dropship Cartel GSF ship of your choice, on the server of your choice 1,000,000 credit Prize MAJOR PRIZE PACKS 35,000 CP and up (tier 2): 1. Feral Visionary Prize pack 2. K-52 Demolisher Prize pack 3. K-52 Demolisher Prize pack 2 4. K-52 Strongarm Prize pack 5. 1,000,000 credit Prize 6. 1,000,000 credit Prize Minor Prize Packs 10,000 CP and up (tier 1): 1. Jungle Ambusher Prize pack 2. Starfighter XP Prize pack 1 3. Starfighter XP Prize pack 2 4. Starfighter XP Prize pack 3 5. 200k credit Prize 6. 200k credit Prize 7. 200k credit Prize 8. 200k credit Prize *Note that 35,000 is the conquest objective. Various members of SRW who donated prizes have opted out of the raffle. At the end of the week we will look at how many conquest points each pilot has and put them in their correct tier. Example 1: Pilot A gets 51,000 conquest points. Pilot A will be entered into Tier 3, 2, and 1. However, the pilot can only win one tier. No double dipping. Example 2: Pilot B gets 15,000 conquest points. Pilot B will only be entered into Tier 1. Prizes will be picked from top prize to bottom prize so that a pilot entered into multiple tiers won't win a lower tier without having a shot at the higher tier prizes. Between now and the end of the event we reserve the right to add to the prize pool, but we will not take anything away from the prize pool above. The only thing that can happen is the prizes get better! We hope that all of the great pilots that we have met will be able to attend the event and represent the GSF community!
  20. The team events have more rivalry because you're facing the same group(s) and each side is trying to out maneuver the other match after match. That doesn't really happen in the solo because you're almost always with different people, so they're like regular games but with really good pilots. I like both formats, and thanks for drako for organizing this again.
