  1. I played at release and left after Ilum was around a month old. I had finished my Knight and Trooper class stories and all companion quests for both characters. The Knight romanced Kira and the Trooper romanced Elara. I haven't played the Knight as much so far, I'm pretty sure that Kira said something that made me think that still held. However, I was using Elara as a healer while playing the Trooper and got a courting gift. It says it would have no effect on Elara. I'm not maxed on her influence because there were only 10 levels when I quit. Is this an indicator that something isn't working? The only thing that has made me think the romance is still in place is that I had the option to tell Jaxo (who was still broken back when I left) that I was with someone. Also, in the Cartel Market, are Strategy Alliance packs the only ones available? I was looking at all the items in Wild Explorer, etc. and can't find where to buy those other ones. Any help is appreciated.
  2. No, you're giving them way too much credit because it's really not written that well. You defeat Nomen Karr and all of a sudden she's like "He lied to me, now I want to kill everyone and bathe in their blood!" It's a pretty big leap, and her dark personality is pretty ridiculous.
  3. I would bet money that is what it is, because that's what I thought before I even read this thread. It's weird when people post well-reasoned explanations and then further down in the thread other people still treat it like a big mystery.
  4. I'm glad you actually understood the nature of the post, but I did say "apparently." But seriously, if anyone thinks that turning off Soresu after going tank spec and wearing tank gear is a good idea, then they have missed something fundamental. That is how you shield attacks. Shielding attacks is damage mitigation, and as a tank that is the first thing you are looking for. Also, if anyone's companion dies at a frequency anything more than rare, then they really don't understand tanking. Things like this directly impact your viability at higher levels. If a tank can't keep aggro on one Elite and 2 regulars or strongs over one companion, how are they going to keep their group alive in Flashpoints or Ops? And what will happen if Heroic Moment isn't available to reset Saber Ward? It's supposed to be used for emergencies, not kept on cooldown because you're close to dying all the time. And honestly, since the OP had to have a whiny response to me, I'll add that his list is messed up in the first place. Pop Saber Ward before sending Kira in to attack first? There's also no mention of Warding Call, which you should have in your early 20s if you're tank spec.
  5. JK was the first story I finished, and even without knowing anything else about the others I pretty much assumed that it couldn't have been as easy as walking in there with your droid and killing the all-powerful Emperor in 20 seconds.
  6. The reason they would say that is because of this ... You apparently have no idea what tanking is if your advice is that it "might" kill your companion. Tanking is making sure the mob doesn't attack anyone but you. That's why you have taunts. What this quote tells me is that your gear and your companion's gear is not up to date. I've played a Guardian tank to 50 and a Juggernaut tank to 42 and at no time have I ever had a problem with jumping in, aggroing all mobs in the boss fight and tanking them. I'm not going to say it's as easy as "learn to play" but if you're including Heroic Moment as a part of a regular routine to beat bosses, then there are some fundamental things you have missed. Honestly, there's nothing that hard in the basic leveling process.
  7. What in the world is wrong with people? It's boring because you DON'T die?? Yes, I can see why it would be so enthralling when you get deep into that mission and get to your 10 minute wait period and finally have to just go back to the med center. FEEL THE EXCITEMENT!!!
  8. I just did it today at 42 and had no problems.
  9. You've based all your expectations about your spec around whether or not you can hit a 3k crit?
  10. Ignorance is not a defense? No one is talking about a defense. We're talking about a system where we turned WZ comms into Merc comms because we knew we needed them to get Champ bags. Then they go and change the system and you're stuck. Is it game-breaking? No, but if they're going to do things like refund skill points and change the conversion in the first place, why not just go the whole way? And seriously, you reported me for that post? Guess you can't always move on with your life, tough guy.
  11. Not everyone read every single detail of 1.2. To fundamentally change the way you get gear after people had become accustomed to it is pretty crappy. You're not even addressing that point, you're just moving past it to say what people should have done. That's obvious, but people shouldn't be punished for having bought up a bunch of Merc comms at a time when they thought they were going to be usable for gear.
  12. The most proven way is to get his hit points to 0.
  13. Yeah, and we should be able to get to level 50 by just meditating and contemplating the role of the Force in our lives. It's an MMO, you fight stuff. End of story.
  14. Uh, you're not stuck with it. You can remove customizations like any other piece of gear. Also, this is a really stupid thing to keep someone from wanting to play the game.
  15. And if you read the thread, it's fixed by queueing for a Warzone, then you can open it when you get back. Yes, it should be fixed to work like it's supposed to, but don't say you can't open it.
  16. Yeah it's a confusing way to say it. At least WoW's notification for the same thing made it obvious.
  17. There's no reason to really worry about Endurance. Armoring, Mods and Enhancements will give enough that you don't need to prioritize Crystals. If your non-tanking companion is taking a lot of hits, you're doing something wrong. You also don't need Alacrity, just go for Cunning and Power. By the time you can equip a companion with extras like Crit and Surge, you won't even really need it because you'll both outgear anything you'd reasonably expect to do solo.
  18. And you'd want to increase server load by compiling all these averages across all servers and exporting it to everyone's mission log every time they accept something? No thanks.
  19. I know, because BioWare's programming has been so tight that there's no way they could have messed up the determiner for making sure armor doesn't drop for people who can't use it.
  20. As much as I would like an LFD tool, what is the point of constantly posting about them? They're either going to do it or they're not. One post with a slightly different idea isn't going to trigger an epiphany. All it really does is embolden whiners like Jokingly.
  21. I've noticed a strange trend, especially when doing lower level flashpoints. In my experience, you will get loot for one and only one class throughout the entire flashpoint more often than not. Normally, I would be the first one to say that random means that this can happen and that anecdotal evidence doesn't mean a whole lot but it's happened so often in the last 4 months that I'm suspecting something is not right. I recently made a Juggernaut and it's happened in all 5 flashpoints I've run (not to mention a ton of times on my Republic characters). - ran BT with 2 Juggs, Powertech and Sorcerer: all Aim loot - ran Hammer Station with Jugg, Sorcerer, Marauder, Mercenary: all Willpower loot - was run through Athiss and Mand. Raiders by a 50 Assassin as Jugg with a Sorcerer tagging along - all Strength loot (in both) - ran BT with 2 Powertechs, Jugg, Operative - all Strength loot Have other people seen this enough to realize that it's defying the odds of randomization or am I having an exceptional experience?
  22. Why do people assume that if they don't want to do the mission, that it's meant to be skipped? The guy above spelled it out pretty clearly: it's extra content. It doesn't hurt you if you skip it but it rewards you if you do it when it's level appropriate. How dumb do people have to be to complain that soloing a Hoth H4 at 50 doesn't give good loot? The only problem with completing them is that there are too many low population servers, but that has nothing to do with Heroic 4s in and of themselves.
  23. I don't believe there are any missions that give different gear based on alignment choices.
  24. Your game would fail horribly as an MMO. The central driving force behind games like this are developing your character. Yes, there are different ways to do that for different people but the things that are appealing to the vast majority of people are levels and then gear. Why would people do missions everywhere if every fight was the same and nothing ever got harder? Your game would have less than 5% of TOR's subscriptions. Also, the title of this thread is silly. No one has ever used levels as the MAIN selling point of an MMO.
