  1. Try the Customer Service forum, this one is for Galactic Strongholds. I hope you get the problem sorted quickly.
  2. Is the Tera you're talking about the same Tera whose recent EU Beta Weekend got cancelled because the game fell over due to "an unknown technical fault"? If so, I don't think you should start judging performance in that game against performance in SWTOR just yet ! http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/05/teras-eu-sneak-peek-weekend-canceled-due-to-unknown-technical-f/
  3. It depends on your means. A desktop that can run the game nicely is unlikely to break the bank, a laptop that can do so may very well break the bank. I would think long and hard before buying a laptop for gaming.
  4. It wasn't broken a few hours ago when I completed it ok. No idea what to suggest tho', sorry. Hope you can get it to work ok.
  5. I'm all in favour of chat bubbles as long as I can turn them off. I hate them, they ruin the immersion for me. Others like them, however, so they should be there as an option. The auction improvements I agree wholeheartedly with, and I imagine that at this stage of the game the auction house is a work in progress, much like the UI which is the main area in which I'd personally like to see early action and not just as shown in the video. The other points you list don't really matter to be. I'm also not clear why you've raised this on this board rather than the general one.
  6. No problems with my Juggernaut, the abilities are working fine, and there's no sluggishness post-patch. I didn't even know there was any difference until I read about it on the forum. I'm using an ATI card, perhaps as has been suggested it's a Nvidia driver issue?
  7. Same here, been playing a lot since the patch and didn't even know there was a change until I read about it here.
  8. Rolled a Jedi Consular initally, and got him to 11, then wanted to see the Empire side and rolled a Sith Juggernaut who's now 18 and played dark, followed by a Sith Inquisitor who's 10 and played light. There are a couple of other lowbies who haven't really been developed. Still haven't got a preference so far as a main is concerned.
  9. I'm loving the game, and haven't had any performance issues with only a single Error 9000 disconnection in Early Access, and only a couple of short queues at that time. The only thing that concerns me is the evident inadequacy of the customer service arrangements, and I hope they fix that soon. The game itself is great, but no game will ever be truly successful if it acquires the kind of reputation this one is quickly establishing for a complete lack of effective support.
  10. That's what a few people would do, the rest simply wouldn't play the game. Not just those who prefer - perfectly legitimately - to solo, but also those who want to group but don't want to be told to group. The game caters for solo and group players and that's exactly as it should be. No-one should have someone else's preferred playstyle forced on them.
  11. True in itself, but potentially misleading given that there's no evidence that the majority of SWTOR players are getting heat issues. All new releases result in the boards being full of performance complaints, not least because no game is fully optimised at launch, plus a lot of people are drawn to a game regardless of whether their system meets the recommended specs. The fact that there are a lot with this game is primarily a reflection of the number of people playing the game - the vast majority of whom aren't posting on boards because they're happily playing the game without any problems. I don't level this comment at you personally, but the people who criticise those who argue that because they don't have any problems no-one else can, are usually themselves guilty of saying that because they do have problems so must everyone else.
  12. You could have bought this MMO for 60 bucks, but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.
  13. Since when were the provision of perfect support and the absence of bugs the definition of "MMO"? I must be missing something here. Otherwise we're still waiting on the first MMO.
  14. Thanks for the swift reply, much appreciated.
  15. The search function has been temporarily disabled due to technical problems (it crashed the site), and there is as yet no ETA on its return. You can google your queries by adding "site:swtor.com" at the end of your search line (minus the quotation marks).
  16. From the perspective of a solo PvE player, how essential is it to do the space missions in order to level up to 50, given that not all MMO or RPG players are into any form of action-based space combat etc? Is there an optimum level at which you should start doing space missions and do you need to invest in ship upgrades before doing even the easiest ones?
  17. They won't initiate server transfers until some time after the initial free month and they can see how server populations have settled down once the non-subbers have left. It's a sensible approach in my view for both developer and players. No point you transferring now to a server that may become empty in a few weeks time, and at which time you'll be complaining about the lack of an option to move back to your original server the population of which may have become perfectly manageable.
  18. It sounds from their statements that they're intending to switch EU maintenance to European players' off-peak times but haven't yet been able to do so. I can live quite happily with the present arrangements for now, but I hope they'll make the switch before too much longer, given that the EU servers are located in Europe. I also imagine that the amount of downtime will be reduced over time, with all new MMOs there tends to be a lot more initial downtime required and things then settle down to a shorter weekly maintenance requirement.
  19. And so the transition from complaining about lack of servers to complaining about the excess of servers begins... Ah, what deep joy it must be to be a developer in these circumstances.
  20. I'm in the UK and picked up my copy from Game yesterday.
  21. I was expecting exactly what is is, a reasonably polished extended single player RPG (call it a linear themepark MMO in which most people solo if you prefer) strong on voiceovers and storyline but bringing nothing new to the MMORPG genre. To be fair, I wasn't expecting such an inflexible UI. I was expecting it to be polished and I'm not disappointed in that respect.
  22. Actually, they're full because it's early access, the game hasn't even launched yet, and people haven't had to enter their credit card details. Report back in 6 months time. Then we'll have a better idea of whether people like the game or not.
  23. Add in criticism of the inflexible UI and you have my views exactly. The game won't be gone in a year, but it won't be running anything like the present number of servers either. Depending on the viability of the endgame, it will join the ranks of the circa 100,000 players club. It simply isn't different enough.
  24. I'd settle for the UI settings persisting for the same character from one login to the next, let alone between characters or servers! Yes chat font, I'm looking at you! Difficult to believe that a game this long in development can have such an inadequate UI, but perhaps it was the first thing to be designed all those years ago! Persistent settings, resizing and repositioning of windows, please! Not bothered about macros, never use them. Of course, it goes without saying that your first character's settings should be available if required across the account.
