  1. 1. No LFG and dev attitude suggested they were somehow freaking morally opposed to it or something! So absurd! Even now they are grudgingly dragging their feet with it. People who pay for this product have jobs and don't want to come home and sit in town waiting to do an instance. 2. Attitude of the community. While I've always hated this in every MMO, in this one it is BAD. There is an overabundance of bizaros who I can only believe don't play MMOs but love Star Wars IP that have rose colored glasses permawelded to their eyes. *** the people that love this game and defend it are absolutely bonkers insane. Just read what they say... 3. Game felt broken and un-mmo-like. Go to a load screen... run across a line... to another load screen... to another load screen... to a small area that is very narrowly controlled for movement. Not a galaxy to explore... a collection of single player areas... 4. Underdeveloped, poorly released, badly designed, game that needs a massive overhaul to even become playable. First weeks the combat system was so horribly laggy I couldn't even stand playing. The Hero Engine?? Really? WHY couldn't it have been finished on release? Why did they fritter away millions of dollars on voice acting instead of making an awesome sci fi genre game? I WANTED this game to be good. I couldn't even pretend it was. No server transfers. No LFG. Barely workable auction house. Combat unresponsive and broken. Sure, they are working hard to fix it... NOW... 5. Depressingly flat odd feeling game and visuals. Public areas with weird npcs that aren't even clickable just standing their moving their arms around bizarrely with no sound. Flat static terrain that really disappoints me and takes me out of any feeling of immersion. Even when I walk through the space ports or whatever... it feels like I'm walking through a very elaborately designed model... not a real buzzing happening sci fi immersive space port. Bottom line is the game was not in any way shape or form on any level what I had hoped for an average-ish mmo. I am so desperate for a sci fi mmo that I THOUGHT I would take anything... well I guess now I learned... there are some things that I just can't stomach.
  2. Don't see full LFG. Not going to resubscribe until I see that. Your competitors allow me to experience their instance content on a nightly basis after a full day's work. You offer nothing.
  3. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ea-falls-on-broker-concerns-about-star-wars-2012-01-19?siteid=yhoof2 Interesting blurb.
  4. Yep... although as a tip... I think if it disappears you don't have to press CTRL+U. I just click the "# Pending" text that appears in the upper right hand corner of the screen and it brings back up any pending quests to complete.
  5. Is there some sort of setting to prevent the Crew Skills Mission Complete windows from just shutting down everything else you are doing?!?! This is driving me nuts and I'm sick of it.
  6. tl;dr: I guess I just want to be surprised again... like that first MMO where I felt like there was a giant expansive world to explore, lots of "bells and whistles", and non linear game play. Yet MMO trends seem to be going in the OPPOSITE direction.... or else I'm just desensitized... I dunno. Makes me cry and suck my thumb. First (and cleverly) to get the fanbois on my side: I like this game. I'm one of those that is waiting for some (what I believe to be) VERY SERIOUS (srs bzns) fixes to come from the developers, but overall I think it's good. Not great (doh just lost the fanbois)... but good. The problem is I see a LOT (thousands... possibly millions... all of which I will detail here) of the same trends that MMOs have been following: - Developers seem to be tightening, stream lining, linearizing, and speeding up the leveling process. Even WoW changed their leveling to be very organized. They are all moving into very linear structures. Good or bad? I don't know. I've debated this in my mind a lot. There's something to be said for the questing to just feel like you can go anywhere and do anything and get wrapped up in a little area's story or not. Nowadays, if you level by questing, it's pretty much very linear. This also means you'll repeat the same things for alts. I think if forced, I'd have to say I don't like the direction MMOs are going in this respect. - MMOs don't tend to release with all the bells and whistles we all know and really love. (Although some weird anti-technology MMO players out there seem to be against them... don't ask me why... I think they're crazy too.) It's probably because all of those fancy extras require more time and effort to program. LFG, Guild Bank, macros, addon support, dual speccing, sophisticated trade systems, heck even website based "Armory", and so on... they just don't seem to make launch date. I think this has caused a serious "barrier to entry" in the market. These tools tend to be deliciously wonderful and make our lives easier... ESPECIALLY those of us with full-time jobs. This is probably just a difficulty to get all built within the time frame that the crappy publishers demand... but I think it is really a negative impact to release. Heck... even some of you... don't tell me you haven't skipped the day after a WoW patch, because you just wanted to wait until all your addons were updated to work with the new patch... you know you have! - Continued lack of full immersion. Play Skyrim. Walk into any building you see in town. Now hop on any modern MMO... how many buildings or areas in the main "town" can you not go into? How much of it is LITERALLY just a pretty picture. It's not a door you can go through... just a picture of a door. Too much of MMOs seem to be just eye candy... but we all know what got us into MMOs in the first place. That first game you played, when you walked out... and for that moment it felt like there was an entire world to explore. Something big and complex and varied. Increasing the feel of a "world" or "worlds" would only make the game feel MORE alive.... yet if anything we see more load screens now... more painted doors... We see smaller worlds. Less starting zones. NPCs that are just window dressing... As MMOs continue to release, we seem to lose more and more of this. Maybe that's just an impression, but I think it's true. - There are other trends like this (billions I assure you), but I'm getting lazy now and want to go back to playing. Where this game wins though.... is.... IT'S NOT ANOTHER FREAKING FANTASY WITH DWARVES AND ELVES!!! Woot for that at least. I haven't seen a dwarf yet.
  7. OK, as constructive feedback that I hope the developers would consider.... I leveled a Sith Marauder... mainly Carnage tree, though I did try Annihilation tree some. Overall my experience was decent except for the Ability Delay and stutter which drives me NUTS... however that's not the point here. I felt a lot during the leveling process I was pigeon-holed into using Malavai Quinn, because he was a healer. Since he was a healer, he kept me alive during most of the important fights and it was just impractical not to have him all the time and just send the other companions on crew quests. However, I really wanted to use Jaesa Willsaam. Unfortunately, it was just too risky for most fights... and some fights I downright needed a healer. Even when I was using all of my damage mitigation abilities and medpacs and CC abilities... including even Force Camoflage to get out of the battle for a bit and let the companion take a beating for a bit. I'd like feeling like I would have equal chance of success with the other companions as I would with Malavai. Besides... that guy is a jerk! And Jaesa is hot.
  8. You must be new here. The deniers have already lost this argument. Please read this: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=141027 The problem exists. I'm sorry it exists. I wish it didn't exist. It exists.
  9. ?! ?!!!! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! .... I'm flabbergasted. Bioware addressing (as a good company should) the people that were desperately wanting this game to be great, but found a significantly big problem with the playability and worked very hard to bring it to the attention of Bioware while numerous mouthy people who hated on anyone that said anything that wasn't "THIS GAME IS AWESOME!" tried their best to pretend it wasn't there or didn't exist. FIXED
  10. Wouldn't it be awesome if each planet had it's own unique day/night cycle? I would just love it! I know... I know... I don't know anything about programming... if I knew as much as all of you about programming I wouldn't say such things. I don't know what I ask. I'm horrible for saying it. You all wish I would die.. but wow that would be cool just the same.
  11. And? Then what? I don't understand why you are looking forward to that doozy of a comeback. To answer your question preemptively... I have many misgivings about the game. There are a lot of fixes that I'd like to see. I want the game to succeed, but I'm not terribly impressed with it thus far. I am not psychotic or emo about it... not hyperbole... just the way a lot of people feel. I'll continue to sub for a while, because I'm hopeful that Bioware will have a quick learning curve in their venture into the MMO space and learn how to handle the community and the bugs. My resub will in no way be a vindication for anyone who thinks that this as it released was a fantastic game and that Bioware made no mistakes. Sorry... trying to make that claim is way over analyzing things. I still agree with Bioware that this game will succeed or fail on what they do after the launch. The launch hurt them a bit, but I think they can recover and go on to great things. That's why I'm staying.
  12. +1 QFT They freak out over any criticism constructive or not. They have an almost religious zeal.
  13. OP I support your effort, and I really understand what you are trying to say, but you are just wrong. You are just flat out wrong. I play with 0.0 queue. The ability delay / ability stutters / and so on drives me so batty, that I've also tried a number of different combinations in hopes of finding some sort of "fix" or "workaround" till Bioware can patch it. I've been hoping that there is some way to get the combat feeling more responsive. It's just not possible, because it is unfortunately a series of issues (which Bioware has already admitted to). To put it simply, with under 70 ping and 100 fps using 0.0 queue to 1.0 queue and trying spamming buttons or only pressing AFTER the GCD finishes, or many other methods there are still multiple issues with responsiveness. Still, I applaud you're effort... we're all trying to figure a way around this frustrating issue. I have been really trying to figure out how some of the people are saying they don't see this or think that we're all lying. It's so baffling to me. I don't know if it's a sociological thing, or if it's just their game play style / experience, or maybe if they are REALLY hopeful that the game succeeds. I am hopeful that the game succeeds, but I just can't be delusional about this issue. To those who are like Obi Wan waving his hand and saying "There is no problem." I only say this: The character responsiveness is a problem. You may not see it, but it is there. It's ok if you wish we didn't see it either, because we wish we didn't see it either. But, I want this game to succeed and so do you... so let's just agree on that. Those of us who see it and experience it on a daily basis cannot and will not be convinced that this is not an issue, and we're very hopeful that Bioware is working on the problem... because it is very important to our long term decisions concerning our involvement in playing this game. The lead combat designer admitted there are several issues. Why can't you, even if you don't see them? If you enjoy the game, continue to play it... I find it enjoyable... but often very frustrating... so I play it, while using this forum to raise my concerns. Let us do that... it's ok... relax... one day you might wake up and turn on SWTOR to find that for some reason the game's combat just feels better and things seem snappier. You can thank Bioware for fixing it and us for raising the concern on that day.
  14. Yes throughout the ages a person that was a citizen of a republic has been known as a republican... obviously.
