  1. In my opinion, TOR should be compared to modern WoW when it comes to mechanics/gameplay features/technical stuff, and to vanilla WoW when it comes to the amount and variety of content.
  2. Combat's been fluid enough for me... doesn't feel clunky and unresponsive in the slightest. I find it much, much more enjoyable than WoW. And lack of auto attack helps the feel of the game a lot. However the controls sometimes bug out and your abilities don't trigger, which is a mild annoyance in soloing, a detriment in group PvE and (I imagine) a possible disaster in PvP... A detail that should be looked into I think.
  3. I don't mind a cool LFG tool in an MMO, as long as a) it's NOT cross server and b) you don't get ported to an instance.
  4. Seems OK to me, I run into people quite often on my server. And general chat is quite lively.
  5. So far, so good! Everything's great at my end, with the exception of the odd queue - but it's to be expected and I have patience
  6. The game is naturally segmented due to planets... It's not even an issue. The only way you could be physically connected at all times would be full free-flight space travel, which (unfortunately but understandably) will never happen. Though a "faction chat" option could indeed be a good option for a more "global" feeling.
  7. You should play Gothic... SI beginning is quite insulting towards your character, but really tame compared to Gothic in that respect. Which made it all the more satisfying to commit the mass murder of that specific faction towards the end of the game On topic, TOR is my personal WoW killer... It's not the WoW killer of course, and neither would I care for it to be. But the TOR experience beats WoW for me personally, and I don't think I'll ever log on to that game again. I don't hate it, it was a good run... But it's ended for good for me.
  8. True. Though a pretty dumb one I remember was one about American server names being less cool than European server names... Go figure
  9. They are not hiding anything, they are aware of queues and don't need further clutter in the boards.
  10. Yeah the humans were atrocious in that game... And definitely better here. True, it may be a bit blown out of proportion, but as long as the discussion remains healthy I enjoy it And after seeing my chunky BH shoryuken his enemies and float around, I'm considering rolling a fat Smuggler just to see him roll into cover
  11. They're not anorexic, but their proportions are definitely weird. The structure looks a bit too improbable, and whilst the game does have stylized graphics, it's still a bit *too* cartoony for my taste
  12. You can leave them behind, but you will most likely take a blaster bolt to the kn- NO! Don't use that meme! Bad archi, BAD! *whacks own cheek, startling his coworkers* Ahem. Sorry. I don't think that having companions diminishes the multiplayer experience in any way. You can still team up with your friend(s) irrespective of having companions with you or not... I understand what you mean about wanting to be more "solo" when soloing... But I find the companions to be pretty non-intrusive in that way. You can easily put them on autopilot for the solo content. You can still not use them, but you'll be somewhat weaker for it - especially on a PvP server. I think though that you'll probably get used to them, especially if you simply use them as pets.
  13. I'm really enjoying the game, far more than I originally believed... I've even put Skyrim down in order to play this - and Skyrim is one of the best games I've played in years. I'm loving the questing, the flashpoints are great fun, I'm even having fun with the crafting. Is the game perfect? No, it has it's flaws and bugs. Do they impede my enjoyment? No, I find the good things to be good enough for me to look past the flaws. Bioware you have done a very good job - but DO NOT rest on your laurels! There is stuff that needs to be improved, and I find myself caring much more about the success of the game now than I did before I tried it. Thanks for a great game - and keep up the good work!
  14. Most of the people who enjoy the game are... enjoying the game, not posting Was the same with the stress test, and the beginning of early access. Don't worry about it. As for me. I was going to enjoy the game... But then I took
  15. I agree that the UI could use some tweaking, but 3rd party mods are, in my opinion of course, not needed (provided Bioware improves their current UI). Don't care for macros either. I don't mind the stuff being allowed later of course even though I'll never use it, but I just hope that Bioware doesn't need to rely on 3rd parties to do their work for them.
  16. I haven't had the time to activate the game yet and can't do so ATM, hence my question - but I intend on paying via physical pre-paid card only (no online payment ever, I don't even have pay-pal)... Do I have to enter credit card/paypal/whatever-online-payment-method info even if I never intend to use any? Or can I simply select a "pre-paid card" option and not have to bother with posting aforementioned info? Thanks in advance guys.
  17. I'd like to see an LFG tool with lots of functionality and options, but NOT cross-server (didn't have the best experience in WoW when they implemented the x-server thingy). I know an LFG tool exists in the game but haven't used it so far (did a PUG or two) so this post is more of a "something I'd find nice" post. For me, a great tool for MMOs could include: - A "standard" window and "minimized" (about as big as the chat window top left and tab-heavy, for when you're out in the world doing stuff) function - It's very own chat channel - Separate, specialized functionality a) for finding a group, and b) for actually organizing it - Lots of filters (i.e. which instance, roles required, story skipping or not etc) - A good /who list based on the above filters - It could even work for heroic quests on your current planet - It would not teleport to instance or anything (but I don't know if instance teleporting exists in TOR, I've only tried BT so far), nor would it be cross server. I believe that a well-designed LFG tool could actually enhance the grouping experience a lot and provide good convenience without trivializing the content, or the actual act of looking for others to play with
  18. I agree with you baznasty. The character creation is not bad in functionality - but it is more limited than I would like. I've spent some time with it and managed to create characters close to how I envisioned them and whose look I'm ultimately pleased with... But it could definitely use a bit more stuff IMO
  19. Sorry you're not having fun, and you are entitled to your opinion but... Whilst I'm skipping some comments like lack of auto attack (which is a good thing IMO but ultimately comes down to personal preference), this last section invalidates all your review and makes it fail. HARD. And this one phrase is the turd that blocked the drainpipe of your until then clear stream of thoughts: "Fanboys and fangirls may try to make a case for ToR, but the reality is that there is no case for ToR." What ******** is this? Fanboys and fangirls? Are you thinking straight? So people who are ENJOYING the game because after hours of play find it FUN are FANBOYS? We like this game because we are enjoying our time with it, and its both its subjective and objective flaws don't get in the way of our ultimate enjoyment. It's as strong a case as any.
  20. @OP: I'm currently enjoying me Imperial playthroughs. I started Empire side due to my class of choice being the Agent (and happily discovered that I'm enjoying my Bounty Hunter just as much as my Agent, and my Inquisitor is also having a blast on Korriban). The Empire just feels more... layered to me somehow. Like it's struggling with itself, but in a deeper, more fundamental way than the Republic's more obvious corruption - one part of the Empire's corruption may indeed be based on treason for personal gain, but the other is actually pure human decency. Granted this opinion could easily change when I level my Republic characters more
  21. Heh... The male body types are indeed a bit weird. 1: Starvin' Marvin in Space 2: Decent-ish but somewhat unnatural... Proportions look off 3: Far too big 4: I'll admit I like this body type but I don't want all my characters to be plump!
  22. So far I've been lucky, maybe it's been my logon times but the longest I've waited was 15 minutes I think (on EU RP at that)... But saw some hours long queues - not good! And coming to think of it, I did go onto a different server than I wanted once due to a massively long queue. I think we should all be patient, or in the worst case wait for the initial launch rush to die down - but that doesn't mean that Bioware should not take active steps to alleviate the problem as much as possible. Posting aggressively though is the wrong way to go. No one likes a rowdy customer, including other customers.
  23. I don't hate WoW, nor like it anymore for that matter, I'm never going to even consider playing it again unless it goes f2p and it has absolutely no impact on my gameplay. I'm having a real blast with TOR, and that's enough for me. As far as I'm concerned I'm satisfied with the product, yeah the game could do with a few improvements, but I'm sure that BW will improve it as time goes by.
