  1. I just unsubbed, for no reasons you haven't already heard. Operative nerfs, lack of customer service, low server populations without access to remedy (merge/transfer/LFG), and just a general sense that the game developers have no vision. Ilum was like a really concentrated version of the entire game...some terrible flaws on release, followed by kneejerk "fixes" that were poorly thought out, and finally they just gave up. I think EA/BW are going to cut costs but still try to string out subscriptions long enough to recoup their investment, but thats about it. I dont see a grand vison, amd my experiences in-game (including Ilum) suggest that this is par for the course. They tried to ride IP and VO to fame and glory, without much attention to the whole MMO part. Don't get me wrong, I really liked some aspects...companions, basic PVP design (viable tanks, dps capable healers) and WZ maps. It's just not enough to carry all the flaws and short-sightedness. Holding out hope for TSW or GW2.
  2. I havent unsubbed yet, but I quit logging in about 10 days ago. With server transfers and a decent LFG tool, I'd consider getting active again, but otherwise I've got my fingers crossed for GW2. Shame, as there were aspects of SWTOR i liked a lot more than some competitors, but the parts I don't like just became more glaring with each passing day.
  3. Are there even any hints of when server transfers will become available? I have a 50 on a dead server (Krath), a second 50 on rapidly diminishing server (Iron Citadel) that I've benched because recent nerfs have made him "un-fun", and a 40-something character on Iron Citadel that is fun to pvp with, but population declines are making for some annoying queues. I'm at the point of wondering whether it's worth putting any more time into my characters or if I should be looking elsewhere. Some confident words about server transfers in the next month or maybe even two would do a lot to appease me.
  4. I didnt have any problems with her. I leveled as concealment and used Kaliyo the whole way, well, except the first half or so of Corellia. Couldnt get in enough backstabs without a tanking companion, but with her I could take down most elites 3 levels higher than me. Four just resulted in too many missed interrupts.
  5. 80 comms in a loss? I guess if medpacs and pots weren't 20 comms each, you could eventually use said comms to get new gear.
  6. This. I abandoned my first 50 (a shadow) because the server died and I can't transfer it off. I'm now abandoning my second 50 (concealment op), because all it does is casual pvp, which is now completely broken. My third character is a level 33 PT (shields), leveling exclusively by and for PVP. Even though the class is still enjoyable, the disaster 1.2 is for PVP suggests I'll never have a third 50. It feels like WZs, which I thought were pretty cool, are now getting the Ilum treatment and will soon follow the same path into obscurity.
  7. Bioware has done a lot right with SWTOR, but the declining subscriptions are entirely on them...there's not a better competitor sniping subs. The biggest issue I see is responsiveness to issues, as in they have none. On my main, I somehow got a class quest twice. I could only complete it once, after which my story progressed beyond the point at which I could complete it...though there was a weird point where I had both phases of the story going at the same time, and both required me to talk to the same guy, but he was about 15 feet away from where he'd been originally, so I had two copies of them, only the "fresh" copy interactable. I submitted a ticket and was told "Sorry, we can't remove that quest from your log. Too bad". Similarly, the imperial side daily on Ilum that gets bugged out every reset. It's a wholly uncomplicated mission...interact with thing on ground, fight x mobs (or x time) defending it. Profit. 3 months after release it *still* hadn't been corrected, and their only response was "known issue, we're investigating." Meanwhile, one faction can't earn as many daily commendations as the other, because there's a flaw in one of the few things for a level 50 to do. Ilum was a good example in general of Bioware's basic approach of "do nothing until we absolutely, positively have to...then kneejerk like its a brand new issue and do the wrong thing." If I leave, it'll be because Bioware doesn't care to fix their mistakes, not even the easy ones.
  8. Unclear. I've already abandoned one level 50 when the server population on Krath became laughable. I'm about to abandon a second due to the pvp changes because the pve situation isn't all that great for him (west coast player on east coast server, pugging normal modes is retardedly easy, and beyond that it's tough to get an invite as a dps operative). I eventually gave up on satisfying pve, but despite some balance issues, I like how engaging the pvp is. Unfortunately it has become nearly unpuggable, mostly unprofitable, and difficult to gear up, not to mention the joy of being the most easily kited class, now with the bonus of putting out the lowest dps. Pugged WZs are almost unwinnable, and win or lose, the cost of med packs almost outweighs the commendation gains that would go toward new gear. I'm leveling another pvp character now and the PT is a *lot* more fun in WZs than an operative, but at level 33, I'm thinking I'll have the same problems buying gear later. My only hopes for staying are a) pvp becomes puggable again, with character advancement/gear-up being a tolerable grindfest, b) finding a friendly pvp guild to run WZs with (most pvp guilds have too many d-bags for my taste) or c) server transfers opening up so I can move my shadow and/or operative to a reasonably populated west coast server and see if the pve gets any more compelling in hard or nightmare modes.
  9. Acid blade should be hit right before every single hidden strike and backstab and never otherwise. If ever an ability was a good candidate for a macro, that is it. Who wants to hit two buttons to do one thing? That said, with customizable frames and mouseover targeting, I might switch to healing and not care about acid blade anymore.
  10. I don't even care if they cost some token amount. My first character was on Iron Citadel, but I got sick of the post launch queues in a hurry and rolled a character on Krath. That server is now a ghost town on the Republic side, with seemingly half the population in one guild, so after clearing EV once, I went back to Iron Citadel. The population difference was so great that I didn't think my being on the west coast would matter, but now it does. I can stay there and pug when I want, or I can reroll again, this time on a high pop west coast server, assuming one exists. My preference would be to consolidate my characters on such a server (same, unusual legacy name) and be done with this, even if it costs a few bucks. Abandoning 50s in T2+ gear sucks.
  11. I think its a pretty retarded system. My total take from champions bags incude 4 heads, 3 bracers, 2 belts, 1 pants, and one relic. That's 11 items, 5 of them useful. I could see an occasional repeat being a reasonable risk for someone in a nearly full set, but 50% repeats in the first half of a set? Lame. Our guild lost an active and skilled player to unsub the day the new ilum rules went into effect, as he refused to spend 2 hours a day being ganked by opponents who dramatically outnumber us only to get no or repeat loot in his bag (RNG was ganking him harder than the imps, as he was approaching 70 bags with a whopping 5 champion pieces to show for them, including several statless relics).
  12. At 38, i've done all the flashpoints so far and nearly all the heroic 2/4s. Only got stuck in fleet for a long time while looking for cademimu. Given the linear nature of questing/leveling, the best place to find level appropriate characters for whatever FP you want to run is on whatever plan those players are questing.
  13. I have both bottom rows full with keybinds at level 38, and clickie less frequent stuff off the sides when needed (e.g. my only heal is on a 20 minute CD, so that's a clickie, but my medpacks are keybound). I don't bother with most of the numbers, except 3-5, instead binding z,x,c,v,g,r,t,w,q,a, plus shift variants of each of those and shift e,s,d,f (unmodified esdf are my movement, with down/duck on shiftspace)-. 25 keybinds is usually enough for anything I would want to do in combat, and none of these require me to move my hand off "home". A clicker will never throw a jump shot, I'm not really sure how they kite at all.
  14. I kinda like Holiday, in a "so far over the disgustingly cute line that she doubled back" sort of way. Give her Theran's healing abilities, THEN let me dispose of him out the airlock. While on the subject, can I *please* get the ability to move Q's abilities around on his bars, so I can at least see when he forgets that EMP blast is verboten?! It's an incredibly annoying bug that has killed me a bunch of times now. Also, I'd like to put his 2 minute CD shields in the front two slots so I can see when they're up? The EMP and shields would be much more useful than his taunt and whatever is second.
  15. I have a 37 shadow, and anthe 18 operative. Theoretically, the agent was going to be my "main", but hour long server queues drove me to make an alt on a lower pop server, and I'd rather see one story through to 50 before diving back into the other.
  16. The only problem with Mr. Fess is his addiction to his EMP ability. How many times do I have to tell him to stop doing that before he'll remember for more than a few minutes. I have several adjectives for tanks that constantly break my CCs by using AoE abilities, none of them positive.
  17. My experience has been quite good, a few hiccups but nothing earth-shattering. 1. Origin's web purchasing processs sucks. Its as if they're trying to invent ecommerce for the very first time, and doing poorly at it. SWTOR page goes to EA page goes to Origin page goes to some wacky european version of paypal which charges from mystic river or some such other company, triggering both state sales tax AND a fee from my bank for doing an international trnasaction, and they charged me full price (not $5) upfront, in October, and no it wasn't just a hold on the money. 2. Early access good, however the server my guild was placed has queues, sometimes longer than I can tolerate. Meh, no big deal if they get down to reasonable in a few weeks. 3. Due to said queues, I rolled an alt on a lighter pop server to play when I have less time available, and for some reason there are a bunch of gfx errors there (Jedi starting planet). Nothing atrocious, just odd light sabre type colors randomly in the sky, weird lighting fluctuations in npc cutscenes, and odd random other places occasionally visible, e.g. some floating city in the sky flickering in when I'm standing in the forest. Haven't noticed these problems since getting off planet, but just barely off imperial fleet (or w/e the republic version is called). Overall, I'd say its been much smoother than I expected to this point.
  18. Yeah, the GTN interface sucks. If I click useable by me or my companion, I get zero results, but with qualifiers I get several dozen pages. Given the robust inventory on my server, I imagine some is selling shadowsilk, but I certainly can't find it...I don't even know where to look. Overall, yeah, this deserves to be fairly high on the fix-it list.
  19. I found that information useful this weekend, for the opposite reason you're complaining about. My guild was assigned to Iron Citadel, one of the more populated servers. When I only had a couple hours to play and the queue was over an hour, I used the population field to pick a realm for an alt to play when I can't wait out a server queue. I've only played that character when Iron Citadel was 45 minutes or more, and it's about to catch my "main" in leveling. Though I did notices this morning that Iron Citadel was listed as "light"...sure it was a Monday morning, but I haven't seen light since it opened last Tuesday, so I'm guessing they expanded server caps?
  20. I'm 700th in queue for the server Bioware put my guild on. I have two hours to play at this sitting...rerolling on another server without any friends/guildies, just so I can actually play.
  21. Playing an alt on a less populated server while queued for more populated server would a) entertain those waiting and b) liven up less popular servers.
  22. Agreed. I didn't mind waiting two days for my turn, because that's what I bought. I didn't mind waiting all day today to play the character I made this morning, because I have to work to pay for what I buy. But now I'm home, with access, and free time, and the server my guild was assigned to has a 35 minute queue. I haven't hit cancel yet, to go play solo on some deserted server, but I probably will in 10 minutes or so because this is going to get much worse before it gets better. I didn't realize the guild alignment/deployment thing was going to spoil the chance/experience to play with them. I suppose I could ask them all to give up the characters they've created in the last couple days and reroll on a less populated server. WTB 2 copies at once, so I can play one character while my main waits for access.
  23. And the 1% who aren't lying are improving the community, and thus the game, by leaving.
