  1. Blame your tank. Your tank should be able to hold aggro without an issue even if you're going full blast. During burn phases I also pop Crit cooldown, 355 power relic and 500 power adrenal as a tank and still do enough damage to stay on top of the threat list. This is not WoW. Your tank needs to be throwing on his taunts constantly in his rotation in order to keep the boss from going after the DPS. I'm already tanked HM EV and KP and we're at 4/5 NM EV if that means anything
  2. *Jump down from spawn *See 5-6 Marauders "Hey Guys this is going to be another easy one!" Near invincibility cd is meaningless when you can be cc'ed during it. I CC marauders that cd at like 5% health and /dance before I kill them
  3. Assault spec vanguard with crit/surge gear eats sorcs for breakfast.... and you can do it without stopping to do your fart pose tracer missile or grav round.
  4. I have a full columi suit and 4 pieces of Rakata armor already and I got to tell you, it's not as good as you'd imagine when compared to pvp gear. The expertise is grossly underestimated. I do 10% more dmg to them and they do 10% less dmg to me, and we have the same armor rating, defense chance, etc. If you don't swap the mods out, the majority of your columi, rakata is going to be accuracy heavy which, while nice, isn't nearly as nice as stacking crit and surge for the bursty dps needed in PvP. The mix of gear depends on your class and set bonuses. If you're a commando you're going to want a mix of the two so you can get that extra crit chance on grav round plus some other goodies. Oh... if you think it's unfair that raid people get free epics all the time, don't complain, join them. Once you get in the groove you can farm both EV and KP on normal in 1 night and get tier 2. Do hard / nightmare for rakata and that's on par with battlemaster.... in theory.
  5. bring CC.... Kill the back two turrets 1st, then when the robots pop, cc one side and dps down the other side. On the second pull CC the side with only 2 robots, have your tank pop cooldowns, aoe, whatever to grab the side with 4, burn the boss and then burn the ads. Very doable with a competent group.
  6. Do you know what I see in WZ's all the time? I see a level 50 in greens that are from like level 30-45. I even see some players who don't even wear relics?!? People are too lazy to even get gear for their own level! The reason you can get away with it in th 10-49 bracket is even with crappy gear you will own somebody 10-20 levels below you with ease. But when you hit the 50 bracket, your bolster does nothing for you and your extreme lack of gear shows. PVP is a COMPETITION. Getting at least level 50 gear is part of your PREPARATION. Don't expect to jump into a wz with level 35-45 gear and expect to melt face. You're no up against teen levels anymore
  7. Power Tech / vanguard tanks are Beast. If you spec right, you get the equivalent of both Force Leap and Force Pull. Lots of AOE: AOE Stun, point blank dd AOE, Cone dd AOE, large area effect aimed dd AOE, sticky nades that hit multiple targets. heck, you even get a cheap spammable AOE attack that can be used to interrupt captures. The strat is very straight forward. It's better if your buddy rolls a sage / sorc for the utility. Guard your DPS sage / sorc and basically assist whatever he's hitting. Taunt enemies that are focusing him and when the focus switches to you have your buddy bubble and heal you. The vanguard sage / powertech sorc combo has a very, very strong synergy that can be very..very annoying for your opponents.
  8. Stop complaining about gear then and go do some Hard Modes. Very easy once you get a stable group to run then and they drop gear that is on par with centurion and Champ gear. I assume you guys aren't really running with a lot of expertise gear anyways (since you need to like.. win to get a decent number of bags) so there's not really any expertise to give up on by going PvE Gear There is no point in just throwing yourself into the grind again and again and again hoping for a different result. Why not put some more effort into preparation and see if that levels the playing field a lil more instead of complaining about it?
  9. The loot system absolutely boggles me. Like for example.... In order to craft a piece of BOP (wth?) Tier 1 non-set bonus energized stuff you need 2 freaking epic power cells that only drop off Raid final bosses and HM Malgus. The thing is, EVERY monster on the way to Soa in EV drops columi and Malgus himself drops Columi..... The only way to get Tionese commendations is to do raid bosses (who drop Columi) or to finish hardmodes (where last bosses drop Columi) Why would I grind for 32-39 tionese commendations to buy Tionese when I can just run the HM and get a tier up...instantly? Same for the OP's point. By the time you get enough Columi comms to buy a piece you've already got either a full suit or are in the process of going Rakata.... Gotta say though, my Companions are getting pretty well geared in Tionese / Energized / Columi lol
  10. Must tank him on the stairs with your back to the wall. then around 15% or so backpedal him with your back facing the long walkway to avoid knock off. Tanking is not just about spamming taunts and soaking damage, it's also about being aware of your surroundings and positioning the boss.
  11. best relic for a tank imho is the pure endurance with power cooldown. On a vanguard I can combine that with my free attack and crit cooldown to start a 15 second "burst" for some decent DPS and threat ever 2 minutes. 15% crit and 300 power combine with 15 ammo to burn not including your free attack (usually the most expensive mortar or pulse cannon) is some decent burst.
  12. Oh well if that's the case, we always run: me (Vanguard) DPS (Shadow) DPS (Sage) heals (Scoundrel) What drops 99% of the time? Jedi Knight loot....... Which isn't too horrible if it's the gloves or helm. I just buy the tank version and grab the lvl 56 mod
  13. I've run enough hard-modes to buy the full tionese suit. I didn't have a single piece of columi armor until...... yesterday when I ran 1 EV, got 3 pieces, then ran Mael and Kaon H M to get my last two... the RNG is Sweet to you 1% of the time and Evil the other 99% (sounds like my ex) Don't even start talking to me about my champion bag luck :eek:
  14. So.. as I was leveling up to 50 I had nothing to do with my WZ comms so I bought the whole blue lvl 50 set (Colossus Armor for Vanguard) with the intent on getting the aritfact upgrades to eventually turn the suit into its artifact version just because I loved the look of the lvl 40 trooper suit. So... two patches or so ago they changed it so the vendor on my home planet sells the same lame stuff that the lowbie one on the fleet sells and I'm stuck with a blue set just sitting in the bank collecting dust. I know it's a downgrade from Champion but it still irks me that they'd just completely remove the ability to ugprade it since I pretty much spent freaking 3K commendations on the set.... At least put it back in or let refund me so I can buy 3 more bags lol.
  15. Tracer Missile spam is not hard to avoid. Just look for the mercs that are leaning down like they're about to poop and either LOS them, use a close-in technique like Force speed / Force Leap / Storm or Rocket boost and melt their faces in close combat. The only reason most Commandos / Mercs seem to be melting face is because the smart ones DPS down people at range who are already engaged with another player like they're supposed to IN A TEAM GAME.
  16. Commando / Mercs have to stand there and spam you 5 freaking Times...while standing Still to get that Armor Pen. That's a minimum of 8-10 Seconds (accounting for lag) of You, being in Range, in LOS, and them not being interrupted. THEN, if they're lucky, you don't deflect their high-impact Bolt / rail shot (regular weapon damage). Zero investment? They have to spec to get the tracer missile / grav round in the 1st place. And it doesn't get good until they also go up two trees to get the *dodgeable/deflectable* impact bolt / rail shot buff. They have to invest the full 31 pts to get the final tier talent. Aside from the guardian / jugg, the Ops/Smug and shadow / *** get that armor debuff right off the bat and in melee range. Oh, they also get it from stealth. You can see Mr. Commando / Merc walking up to you and start his spam rotation from a mile away. Get a commando/merc in Melee range and they DIE. Get a meleer out of melee range and they DIE. Is it that hard to understand? BTW I play a Vanguard. It's fun killing mercs , commandos. I see them tracer, Storm to interrupt and get in melee range. They try another round, Riot strike to interrupt. They CC me with cryo / shock to get distance, Harpoon to get them back in melee range. The movement cause by harpoon is yet another interrupt. By that time Riot strike is up...again for another interrupt. They use their AOE knockback, Storm Timer is back up again. As you can see, things don't go well for commando / merc when somebody is in their face. However, shadows and Scoundrels? ALL their DPS is with them even when on the move. Ever think of that?
  17. tracer missile guys are so easy to kill. travel with a buddy and harpoon him to you. They pretty much melt in Melee range unless your damage is horribly off.
  18. getting 400 armormech is meaningless. you can do it by lvl 25-26. Getting a full critically crafted artifact suit with customized stats? that takes quite a few credits but is very much worth it for somebody who wants to start Raiding from the get go. It's true my Vanguard no longer uses a single piece of gear I crafted (aside from my rakata belt and bracers) since the Columi and Champion stuff pretty much outclasses anything I can make, but the fact that I can pretty much gear up any new tank in our guild with stuff that's better than Tier 1 Raid Gear in about 45 min (with all my companions making 1 piece each sans the belt / bracers) is pretty sick as it is. To further improve the profession, however, it'd be nice if we could do something special to our own armor like add augment slots to non-crafted armor or have reduced durability dmg. At least then it'd be worth keeping over Biochem which even now is still the goto crafting skill for end-game.

    Tanks in pvp.

This is bullocks. There is so much you can do to stop tanks from scoring. You can pull them into fires or the lower pits. Pull the healers away too. You don't have to kill the healers, just pull them away from LOS long enough for it to go downhill. Also, Having the ball on the tank is a pretty stupid idea. Better to have a sage / sorc force speed and be immune to CC while being guarded by a tank. Also, being fully decked out in Champ gear at this point in the game has nothing to do with skill. Everyone who's been doing the Ilum Welfa...uh...dailies until Patch 1.1 should have quite a bit of it.
  20. Actually We've been having a lot more fun now that there is a 50's only bracket. It's true the queues are longer but playing a fight against even-leveled players is exhilarating. As for bad players not finding acceptance? Well... they can stop being carried by the team and actually learn to contribute. Why is that a bad thing exactly?
  21. I wanted to try it out and ended up blowing a crapton of lvl 5 mats on a lvl 47 Diatum onslaught BP for armormech. 400 armormech here and I have max 10K affection with Tanno Vik (trooper companion with +5 armormech crit) Out of the 73 I made over the last week, Not one was a crit.
