  1. you are getting confused between trolls who spew hatred for no other reason but to try and make sure new players do not come to this game, and those that offer constructive points that look like hate and those who are just generally frustrated by the lack of support. sometimes a strong stinging constructive point of criticism can be beneficial to this game and if the community moderators and tech support people manage to respond back and work something out, only then things can really go forward. more often then not, you get people who require that communication from Bioware and end up waiting for a week or 2 on the emails or never on the forums depending how negative the comment is. you just need to pick the right things to say, but more often then not, the Bioware teams respond to selection of certain threads.
  2. i tend to focus on whats good for the team most of the time by skipping but i wont budge an inch if i haven't seen something the others have, i mean it's just a few minutes of time, it's not like the end of the world and so team members shouldn't treat it as such, it is just a game after all, not to be taken seriously. and games were only created as a distraction and a time waster anyway. so the logic that others should be told to hurry up or threatened with a team kick vote is ludicrous at best.
  3. i dont mean to be troll like about it, but you can't consider the game the best you have ran across if falls flat on it's face in some area, like customer interaction with Bioware. so that sounds a bit fanboy like to me, because it's like you failed to see the flaws as it were. i used to think the same about the game that it was once great, but since the F2P was announced and what could be coming to the store, i suddenly lost all interest in the game and lost some respect with Bioware. it's still taken me a while to recover the past few days, but im starting to play the game again. You maybe content with the re-playability but that says something about the lack of end game content if all you do is replay the game to death. so clearly again it's not a perfect 10. on my end, in red on your quote is my opinion of the game in 1-10 mode...
  4. problem with that is that Blizzard is pandering to the "it's too tough for me" groups, this group should adapt around it instead of making it more easier then it should be, if you cant overcome a learning curve then you should stay away until you can, i mean that is the whole basis for a challenge. with that written, now i definitely don't want to play D3. never saw any interest in it before, not going to either. if anything that is not what BW should be doing by pandering to elitists or the lazy types, because either way the game will turn stale real quickly. how they should be responding is by responding, not keeping the silent treatment.
  5. selling gear regardless if it's the best or the worst is like confirming they plan on pay 2 win and what happens if their experiment works and people are foolish enough to buy this stuff? it will only seal the deal with making it pay 2 win. this little stunt has lost some respect i had for bioware, if they wish to keep this up, i would be happy to find another game and let their game die off.
  6. i wont take this media spin at face value. i mean its using its connections to justify LOTRO's existance instead of SWTOR, and most of the comments on that article are right and are more concrete then what is mentioned by the writer. subs have gone down indeed, but that is more on the part of ea/bioware for a failure to step upto the plate and show what they got. i mean they could of produced the best thing since sliced bread, the opportunity was in their hands quite easily, but now it is gone. so now in order to rescue the game they are lowering their prices and going F2P. although i am still holding out hope for it to keep out of the nightmare zone (P2W) and lift itself out of trouble before long.
  7. the moment it goes P2W i will leave, its as simple as that. i have had a torrid time with this P2W before and im vehemently against it. whoever thought that P2W system was a good idea probably had a rock in their head the size of a peanut. its just how i feel about it.
  8. i find doing dailies at the end with multiple characters can get your legacy level right up in no time.
  9. its their first time doing this, they better becareful it isnt their last time. i only got away from STO because it was going P2W and if SWTOR is going to be like this, then i will have to find another game. but that is just scaremongering at this moment. the last thing i want to see is lockboxes put in this game and all items put on a cash store, even the typical rubbish loot drops ending up there and in order to use them, so you must buy a scroll off the cash shop to imbue it to use it or some such nonsense. time will tell if they start going for the low blows to get cash. but i never had any faith in EA before, so i wouldnt discount the possiblity they would stoop so low. Will have to find out what fluff content they put in this shop and how much stuff they keep adding and their pricing, then find out if it is used after a few months, assuming they release the figures.
  10. i gave up on STO a month ago, why? because it went into the toilet since it went P2W. ever since it went F2P until its P2W, the community was dreadful and before that, it was good because it was sub only. im not going to get into that debate over if its good or bad since there will be people who will agree to disagree and leave it at that, so make of it as you will. there have been a few bad apples in a generally good natured community with the odd trolling attempt on swtor so far, but any game can have this issue. with this new model coming out though, bioware will have to deal with gold spammers, probably from china and russia or a regular basis and how they deal with this is another matter that needs to be looked at. because of my jaded experience with how awful cryptic and PWE were, with their customer experience, im just concerned this game could turn into another p***ing match and split the community down the middle instead of dealing with the issues and keeping the peace while avoiding driving more players out of the box. i dont mean to be rude about it, it's just i dont want lightening to strike twice and see another good game become one of the worst things since the black death in europe hundreds of years ago because of a terrible business choice. but as far as the F2P model goes, i would like more info on how 'extremely limited access' applies to the GTN. besides that, the game is pretty good and i have a very strong presense on the server i am on as it is with its legacy, not about to giving that up anyway and combine it with regular content and bugs fixes, especially the hard ones and i would happily sub for as long as the game is in operation.
  11. you shouldnt see it as a negative, but as a positive, it maybe the best of the bad but it isnt best of the worse, the putrid or a horrific catastrophy. this game is better then others out there by far.
  12. i used to bash STO on their forums while i was subbed for it for a while, i just liked that it was a challenge and had to overcome the game, the forums was just a vehicle to push me on to overcome the game and do better, the usual e-peen tosh if directed properly is a great motivator on the forums and the game itself is a great challenge. some people like to use the chance to be insulted like that, i mean pandering directly to their lack of precision to do the task, it can be a brilliant cataclyst, but if bioware instead respond by making it easier instead of tell em to overcome it, well whats the challenge of the game? if you immediately know whats at the end of the tunnel, there is no point travelling to get at it.
  13. i used to play star trek online until december last year, its the best move i ever made and never regretted it even once. STO has gone into the toilet where i once considered that it was a reasonable game. since SWTOR though, amazingly its the only MMO i have been on that interests me to come back to it and i have played solidly for about 6 months now with a month gap inbetween. the game is also help me appreciate the star war universe alot more as well. so i understand how you want to come back to swtor frm wow, i hope you enjoy it alot more.
  14. the game is fine, the game engine is still broken and hasnt been fixed since beta in some areas, but the majority of the game is great. although i seldom like grinding, some times its enjoyable playing FP's waiting for a strange fun and unusual round to come along and such.. missing outright space exploration and such, something i still hope they can release at some point. i think the game will keep and remain with a steady amount of people, most mmos always have the hardcore fanbase to rely on for a while. but the best thing to do is leave the bashing and get on with it and create the best thing you can and since nothing is perfect (an imossiblity to find that), then you may as well just keep going until it does become unfeasable and again at some point this will come and that will be the end of it.
  15. Ive got a dry/dark sense of humor; Khem Val: his one liners during conversation are legendary!!! Mako: if she was real i would be chasing her for a date by now, shes a good person. Vette: some of her skeptical humor and conversation choices make me laugh. Dorne: shes a real softie when you get past all the regulations she quotes, even then shes fiesty!
  16. Ovbious attempt to control their products how they want to see it, problem is that if its too expensive, no one will buy it and the game will fade away, if EA add some obnoxious rule to the EULA allowing them to use DRM to monitor everything on your computer, with a "carefully worded" rule to make it look like its not what it appears, frankly i wouldnt put it past them, i will never use the origin service provided either. if EA goes down this route and turn it into a circus, regretably i wont be playing SWTOR any longer and it can fade into obscurity and i couldnt careless since they showed the same little regard towards me while several hundred people become unemployed, it serves no one in the end if EA really get nasty about it. they may want to consider what they are planing and throughly test out if its really worth the effort before they decide to take this risk.
  17. i saw this maintence coming yesterday, there were complaints about an important feature not acting as it should, so no suprise when i read the servers are coming down once again. i do agree there is to many maint cycles recently but then again its not like i am on all the time, so because i saw it coming i had already planned in advance.
  18. i used my trooper to create green belts at level 49 and got the required 70 aug slots 6 from rev, with those same materials plus extra from the bank i already had gathered up form long ago, i converted into 7 aug kits mk6 plus 2 crticals from tanno vik making it 9, all of them went to my new BH, saved a fortune from going on the GTN paying an average price which i now is much higher then its crafting materials, example 50k of kit so in the region of 450k just for 9 mk6 kits if your lucky, you could do the same with materials from scavenging at their usual price of around 2k per mission and some subelectronic items off the GTN, i got 62 for 40k since that was the lowest price at that time. i suspect i made around 200k savings just by using my own time and resources, it may not mean much to the more richer members on this game but it saves a day of doing daillies on corellia, ilum and belsavis for 2 characters at level 50.
  19. break it down a little The sith are a race of people who had huge influence over the original empire many years ago, before humans found their way into deep space. In TOR they are nothing more then a slave race because of inter-speices breeding has weakened their connection to the force over the years. the sith empire itself is just a slogan that people follow, but the actual powerbase itself is just contained to 1 person and a handful of advisors, notably the emperor, his elite sith guardians including his own apprentice. the real evil comes from here while non-force users that become Moffs are brainwashed into the idea about duty, loyalty, honor and preserving the empire from alien influences. these men are not evil, just misguided by the sith as they really have little other option or be killed by the sith or any force user thats attained enough prestige to do the job. its known in this sith empire that there are two distinct groups operating in the empire like there is in the republic, the force users and the non-force users, each has their own command, but the force users require the non-force users to become their hands, by becoming the manpower, weapon makers, engineering, logistics... where as the non-force uses need a strong leader to believe in and trust, that there is where the evil begins when the force user has been given power by the rest within the empire, the sith decree that innocent people should be wiped out for a moment of pleasure or attacking a republic medical relief convoy or something morally and literally wrong, nothing more can be done about it except for following instructions or the sith has fun mass murdering the crew until someone does it. to answer the thread title; are the sith really evil? yes and no, for as long as they have been given the power by others, they become evil because of their actions and inactions. and no because if a sith has no power from others, there is little point going on a murdering spree when no one has paid any attention to these actions.
  20. all i see here is scaremongering to try rally support. when i played the PTS the other week to gain the required amount for the titles, i found the group finder to be immesurably better improvement then standing around for literally hours spamming the message "commando lfg red reaper." without much success. it will be a great thing to help my consular sith to level up only by flashpoints when that perk system comes in, luckily its only in game money and not the real thing beyond the sub cost. i havent done the ranked wz, but tbh balancing the classes in pvp is alot more harder and time consuming them fixing bugs and issues and it would probably take the better part of 3 months or longer to get a really good balance. it would make little sense holding the whole patch back because of need of extensive ranked wz matches, the bioware team can probably learn a heck of a lot more information from the public server then they could on a test server. the jedi/sith concerns towards their class types? i think you just need to relearn these skills and how they function more, i honestly dont note that big a difference toward the skills in the end, but then again im not a hardcore type of player to notice these things beyond the fact that some people dont like change, and they really should just give it a chance to find out if its worth scaremongering or if its misplaced and can be overcome instead, as a challenge should be. i havent noted anything unusual with the project ability, tbh its just an animation that changes nothing, as long as it does its damage, thats good enough. every game has its bugs, thats a given and some more then others but when 1.3 comes, it will be time to find out if this new patch has more bugs or less bugs, before continuing down this line with an answer.
  21. others strengths are useless like DPS on certain missions like red reaper where a cc is needed to progress to finish that FP mission right at the end with the boss, otherwise it will never complete if everyone in the team was a commando.
  22. ive never romanced mako or vette, may roll another few toons on the PTS and try that at some point. with a female toon i found Andronikos easy to deal with for SI and for IA i found Kaliyo easy to deal with as well. just recently i finally found the interest to level up a trooper after transfering him across servers, strictly speaking outside this romance business, i found Tanno Vik quickly that he admires strength and sometimes profit in conversations, didnt take long to get his points up besides a few bribes with gifts. as for Romance option, i recently got the ball rolling on Elara Dorne, i like her character, serious and but a good person. For the record i tried Kira and found her a complete push over, almost too easy to fall into love since she is a rebel of sorts to some of the strict guidelines of the Jedi order and lacks a little self control. outside Romance i found Qyzen was not hard to deal with either, he likes strength and respect.
  23. i liked jar jar, good comedy relief for a serious part of the star wars saga during a war.
