  1. I will be very disappointed and sad, but then at least I'll be able to move on and play my characters romanceless. So far I'm not playing them because I'd hate to cap them and THEN get same sex implemented. But if I knew for sure same sex wasn't coming -- well, I'd hate it and be frustrated, but at least I could move on with the game.
  2. In order to get the legacy perk, it's enough to complete the dialogues without romance. In order to enjoy the romance storyline, you pretty much have to romance the companion. It depends on which one you're going for.
  3. PvP is optional too. So is it fair to restrict it based on gender too? If somebody rolls a male character and can't PvP because of it, well, then, no one forced him to roll a male toon, and no one is forcing him to PvP, which is entirely optional. Exactly -- like I said, basically it's a choice between having to play something you dislike, or not getting to participate in an activity you like. It's exactly like having to choose a certain race or gender to be eligible for PvP -- you have to restrict your character generation choices in order to do what you want in the game.
  4. If there's a lot of sucky romances, then it's even more important to bisexualize the existing romances. My Smuggler found Corso's romance pretty lame, but if I'd had the option to go for Risha and/or Akaavi in addition, then I could've still had a decent romance despite Corso's lameness.
  5. Oh that's fair. Either play a gender you're not comfortable with, or lose out on part of the game. Maybe PvP should be restricted so that only female characters can participate in it, just to see how much people would enjoy being forced to be a certain gender in order to experience one of the game's basic functions.
  6. I personally wouldn't expect a response from EABW before Tue/Wed at the earliest. The tail end of this week will probably be unofficial talk inside the company of the increased pressure, and then Monday morning palaver they'll probably officially talk amongst themselves about how to handle this, somebody will get assigned to the issue and they'll spend a day or two preparing answers and so on before saying something. And that's the best case scenario IMO. Big companies just don't move very fast. If they've been avoiding the issue as much as they have, they won't have people ready to answer questions at the drop of a hat, they probably don't even have a clear picture who inside the company should handle this.
  7. I'm inclined to agree with Slaign. While I am angry about the total stonewalling silence, I do think that it is still possible that they are still working on same sex. Bioware has story guys on the payroll, and the patches have barely included any story stuff for a year now. What have they been working on? Surely there must be something on the way. I just don't understand why they try to completely silence the issue.
  8. Wow, good point. I didn't even think of that since I'm not gay so I'm not used to thinking about things from that perspective.
  9. I tweeted @hallhood and included a hashtag #gayswtor in my tweet, maybe if we can trend that hashtag (or some other if people feel is more appropriate) that could help even a little. Or at least it'd help find all our posts under the same umbrella?
  10. I think this is a very good analogy. We deserve some word, whether it's yes or no. Yeah, same here. At least then I could play my characters. I'd hate the fact that they won't be able to have any romance (except with guys that squick me out), but at least I wouldn't be keeping them on hold waiting for the content.
  11. I hope eventually couples will be able to have children together in Legacy, instead of children springing forth from a single parent's forehead. It'd also be nice if you could have ex-wives in addition to wives.
  12. This thread makes me feel so left out. I really hope I'll get to romance Vette soon. I hate the fact that just because I play girl characters, a door gets slammed in my face.
  13. I don't quite get what you're saying here. Why would it imply that, and why wouldn't it make sense?
  14. I don't think the point was that Bioware is trying to portray itself as being gay-friendly with that Vette gender neutrality. I think the point was more that they are writing their material in such a way that they won't have to go back and change them if gay is implemented. Which gives some hope that it's still being planned. If, internally, gay was thrown out for sure, then they wouldn't bother with gender-neutrality in the articles.
  15. It's highly unlikely that future content will require grinded gear. When the level cap goes to 55 or 60 or whatever, people who level to 50 won't want to stop for weeks to grind stuff before they can move to level 51+ quests. There would be a huge outcry from people if they'd need to shift from questing to grinding for a few weeks between levels 50 and 51.
  16. I'm sitting here really frustrated right now because I've got an evening free to play but all I can do is sit at the character select screen. My Warrior and Smuggler are capped. My Hunter/Agent/Knight are played up to the point where they receive Mako/Kaliyo/Kira and I dare not level them further lest I miss out on romance dialogues when they're implemented. I'm not interested in the Trooper class and my Consular and Inquisitor are healers for players who aren't logged on right now. Granted, I fully acknowledge that it's my own personal preferences that render me unable to play right now, but I'm still frustrated as hell. I really wish romances were enabled so that I could move on with my Hunter/Agent/Knight characters. I guess I'll just go play Dragon Age 2 instead to flirt with Isabela. I really wish I could play TOR instead to justify a subscription. Looks like I'm going to have to let my sub lapse again.
  17. If anything, *that's* pathetic. For the record, story is SWTOR's main strength, and if the story isn't fun for somebody, I think it would be pathetic to *remain*, and continue allowing yourself to be taken advantage of. It shows backbone to make a stand, take your money and go home. The complete opposite of pathetic. Leaving because the story -- TOR's main point -- isn't fun is the best reason of all to leave.
  18. Long term, I would love to see a full-on expansion with a water planet theme, giving us the ability to swim, dive, travel in submarines and so on. Planets would be Manaan, Kamino, Mon Calamari, Naboo... Short term, without any game mechanics updates, I'd love to see Bespin too. The cloud cities seem like an environment we haven't had yet. Just for god's sakes not another ice planet.
  19. I usually collect all the possible overlevels from early and mid game, so that when I finish Hoth I'm usually around 44-45. That way I can skip one or two of the end planets, because I'm usually really exhausted by them. I've never done Corellia yet, and I'm going to be really happy to skip Belsavis in the future because I'm tired of that planet.
  20. Well, we had that with free trial. The free trialers had access to the first levels, hotbars and helms, and had to pay for the further story. We can see how well your strategy worked out.
  21. Well, it's a damn lot better than freemium having six quickbars and inventory slots for free and having to pay for the story. It's also a lot better than freemium having *both* aspects for free, EA making no money, and the game ending.
  22. 10 toons or 100, doesn't matter. Account wide unlocks are usually the price of the unlock for 2-3 characters. So you don't need to be buying inventory slots separately for all 10+ characters, just get them once as account unlocks. If you earn 700cc per month and sub for, say, a year, that's 8400cc right there. That's around the same ballpark as Darthhater calculated to unlock *everything* that subscribers get. http://www.darthhater.com/articles/feature/22357-the-real-cost-of-cartel-market-items And most people don't make use of *everything*, so they won't need to unlock more than a subset, so they'd have enough cc to drop to premium for good after less than a year of subbing.
  23. Character slots. Renames. New companions. Same sex romance additions to existing companions. More companion quests. More class quests. More story areas in general. New player races. Redoing selected quests.
