  1. Have you tried an Alt on the other faction? Whenever I hit 50 and feel like starting a new alt, I hit the opposite faction so I'm not repeating all the same quests again. Sure, after 6 alts get to 50, I've pretty much memorized all the side quests, but that's my own fault for being an altoholic. I'm by no means bored though.. The community on the servers I play on are fantastic and keep me entertained, even in the middle of the night.
  2. yeah, I have a feeling there's going to be lots of that going on.
  3. I do random PUGs all the time and we rarely have any problems.. If someone is a newish 50 and needs some direction, we always try to educate him. The only times we have problems is when we get one of those people in the group who is constantly worried about what everyone else is doing, wearing or how they're specd.. Those are the guys who have to inspect everyone in the group, make comments about their gear, drop hints about who he thinks should be kicked out before we get to a boss, the one who's always ready to run off back to the fleet to find a replacement, or brags about his usual group and how leet they are. Those are the guys who would misuse gear checking in LFG if the power was left to the players. They're also the ones who usually get kicked out of our groups and whine in General about how there's never any good groups.
  4. I agree that the game itself sets limitations on players, excluding them from content. I have absolutely no problem with that. If a group of 3 players is looking for another player to run thru an HM FP, and that player meets all the criteria for entering the HM, has level-appropriate gear and meets the role looked for by the group, I have a problem if one or 2 of the players decide to exclude that player simply because he's wearing a blue earpiece instead of a purple one. That's the garbage that goes on *right now* in the game without an adequate LFG system.. If the new LFG system includes a feature which automatically pops up the gear to the others in the group and allows them to boot him based on arbitrary elitist nonsense, I'll have a problem with it. If there really is an issue with someone's gear that will cause problems for the whole group, then the group should discuss that with the person trying to join instead of just kicking him out without educating him or at least giving him a valid reason.. "I couldn't do EV storymode in green gear, so you can't come with us" is not a valid reason.
  5. omg I understand why the gates are there. I agree with the gates being there. I have NO PROBLEM WITH THE GATES. I have a problem with Players having the ability to exclude other players based on what gear they are wearing.
  6. ??? And as I've stated multiple times, i have no problem with that. The OP didn't say that. He didn't indicate that the tool itself would decide, just the players who would have to carry the "bads". He was then supported by a number of other players who feel that "bad" players should be excluded based on their gear as decided on by the "good" players. The aspect of it being automated by the LFG tool itself wasn't even brought up until I mentioned it. I see this Elitist attitude in the game every single night. Certain groups who do LFG announcements in General for FPs/OPs and then proceed to publicly ridicule the gear of people who *dare* to try and join these groups.
  7. I was actually the first one in the thread to mention level gating and that I'd have no problem with it.. I was still attacked by elitists who proceeded to tell me that since they couldn't do EV storymode in green gear that it was impossible to do and groups shouldn't let players in green gear hold them back. That's elitism. It's also incredibly incorrect, but that's a different issue.
  8. I see, so what is the discussion really about? Is it about how if there was an automated aspect to the new LFG tool that kept ill-equipped players from queuing up for groups they're not ready for and how nobody would really have a problem with that?
  9. Really? Sounds pretty "Elitist" to me. Implying that the "bads" will have bad gear and ruin all the groups sounds suspiciously "Eliteist" to me.
  10. Go back and read my posts.. I was responding directly to the OP and to this section in particular: I haven't said anything about using another keybind, I've simply been responding to those who keep telling myself and others with this problem that we're just imagining it. Or we can't figure out how to use torpedoes. Or we have no "skill". The fact remains that in mine, and other's, situation, the way normal missiles work when torpedoes are installed *does* negatively impact the game. If it was on another keybind, it would in fact give me the ability to fire missiles at hardened targets back and I would simply live with only having 3 torpedoes until the bug is fixed. As it stand now, I can't use missiles due to incorrect functionality of this broken mechanic.
  11. The fact that it's a bug and is affecting a number of people would indicate to me that something is broken.
  12. Apparently the reticule disappears when you do screenshots(look at your own shots you posted), but here's mine: http://i.imgur.com/qAXe2.jpg you can clearly see in the objectives that I've taken out 2 generators, and you can see the smoke from the destroyed bridge. You can also see that there are 2 shields remaining and my torpedo indicate is greyed out. As there's nothing else in this mission that I can target the Torpedo on, where did the 4th one go? As I stated previously, I cannot fire missiles at those 2 remaining shields. Right-clicking does nothing when they are targeted. I'm sorry I can't show you the reticule, but it looks just like it always does when hovering over a target.
  13. I know what I'm supposed to have and what actually happens in the game. On Zosha Advance, I use them on the first 2 shields, then I use 1on the bridge. At that point it becomes greyed out and I can no longer lock on the remaining 2 shields. I also cannot fire missiles at the remaining 2 shields. I can fire missiles at the turrets on the cap ship, as well as any other targets. The only targets I cannot fire missiles at are the remaining Shields.. I know some of you like to try and ridicule others who are experiencing this problem with your little jabs about how it "takes skill" or how we're "unable to work with torpedoes", but it doesn't help. especially when we report this problem and get the same nonsense posts from the CS mods about using the Repair function or re-installing drivers to fix the issue.
  14. I already said I'd be fine with something automated like that. Nobody here is arguing against an automated function which either doesn't let you queue, or gives you very explicit warnings. I'm against the other players being given the option to exclude other players based on their gear. Something which is being argued for in this thread.
  15. ??? Yes, it is showing up greyed after 3 shots.. I'm not the only one who's having this problem. There have been numerous posts about it in customer service and people like you keep telling us we're seeing things, which lends to CS completely ignoring us.
  16. Who's exaggerating? One poster says EV storymode is completely doable in greens, DarthTHC says EV storymode is impossible in greens. If both of them are in a group and someone in greens joins for EV storymode, DarthTHC is going to kick the guy because he wasn't able to do EV storymode in greens and can't possibly understand why the person joining isn't geared. That's what will happen if a gear checker is included.
  17. Ah.. so *you* weren't able to do EV storymode in Greens DarthTHC. Many others were able to. Yet you want to have the ability to refuse access to your group because you weren't able to do something others could? Do you not see how arbitrary such a LFG limitation would be?
  18. It's nice to say that , even if you really mean it.. We all know that's not how it will be used though.
  19. It already happens now. There's certain groups on all the servers I play on who won't let you play with them unless they approve of your gear first, and your spec, and some even still require Bio. It's usually these same people that whine in General about how hard it is to get a group together
  20. you didn't, which I realized after I posted and which is why I edited it
  21. It will probably be a learning experience for a number of people at first, as they begin to realize what they need in terms of gear, specs and tactics for various FPs. I know on the servers I play on, there's already helpful people in place that try to educate players on what they will need for certain things. What we don't need is a tool that allows other players to refuse other players based on something as arbitrary as gear choice. All it does is split the community and form elitism separation. If there was some base score that the LFG tool could automatically use to warn players that they may not be suited for the mission, then that's a different story. Allowing other players, who will absolutely misuse such a system, to exclude players based on gear(or stats, or specs, or hairstyle, or whatever) is a bad idea. Furthermore, I think the comment in the original post of: "Please Bioware don't make the fatal mistake of trying to make the bads happy." Clearly illustrates how and why such a tool would actually be used.
  22. But once you've used all your torpedos, you can no longer fire missiles at the other hardened targets. it won't accept the right-click at all when you have them targeted.
