  1. Updated 02/01/2012

Starting this thread up to help keep track of things BioWare has announced that will be added, fixed or changed with SWTOR in the future. As people add to the list, I will update the main post. This list should help address some of the issues I've been seeing people post about.

    1. The UI will be customizable in a near patch. - (need reference, read that last week)

    2. BioWares goal is to add over 500 new planets to the game by 2025. - James Ohlen, SDCC Day 1 Presentation

    3. A new planet, Kaon, will be released next patch. - James Ohlen, Gamespy interview 01/12/12 -In game

    4. Another new planet, Denova, will come in March. - James Ohlen, Gamespy interview 01/12/12

    Jan 14th 2012 Update

The ability for players to review their personal combat data will be added to the game soon. (Combat log) This is a very high priority. - Georg Zoeller, TorWars Interview

Level 50 PvP Warzone Brackets next week.

The mod system is being changed so that mods can be removed from raid gear but will be restricted by armor slot (chest, wrists, hands, etc). They will also transfer set bonuses. The same will hold true with PVP gear. (check the dev tracker)

The match-to-chest option will be returning in an alternative way, but no time frame has been provided. (community blog)

All Partially moddable purple Items will be made fully moddable again, allowing the removal of the armoring, hilt and barrel. - Emmanuel Lusinchi, TOROZ iPhone app. Interview Jan 11, 2012.

The set bonus of end gear purples (PVP and PVE) will be transferable to custom items - Emmanuel Lusinchi, TOROZ iPhone app. Interview Jan 11, 2012.

Some item modifications will be restricted to a certain item type. For example, some item modifications will only fit on helmets, while others will only fit on chest, etc - Emmanuel Lusinchi, TOROZ iPhone app. Interview Jan 11, 2012.

Post more and I will add them. Please list where you read / heard the information from if you can.

  2. There is nothing new or epic or wow-feeling in this game. Its the same game as all the other mmos- wow in my mind.

    Nothing new? How about this:

In SWTOR, unlike other MMO's, YOU are the hero. Really, look at World of Warcraft since it is the 'industry standard'. You, and maybe 9 more of your friends, get together and defeat a Heroic boss. You follow through many, many storylines to save Azeroth or defeat some big baddy like The Lich King or Deathwing or whoever. And who's the hero?

Not you. Maybe Thrall, or Jaina, or some other NPC tool. But not you.

In SWTOR, you follow your class story and guess what? YOU rule!!! YOU get the group of Acolytes plotting to take over the galaxy while you head the Dark Council, YOU kill the Chancellor of the Republic, YOU defeat The Emperor, and YOU get the credit. In short, YOU are the hero.

Then of course, you could consider the moddable gear, the companion system, the WORLD RECORD HOLDING voice acting, the ORIGINAL MUSICAL SCORE (which to be fair, other games have, but it's SO good) and so much more. Sure, SWTOR takes alot from other games, but if you were buying a new car you would want it to include the basics too, like an engine, 4 wheels and a steering wheel. Nothing shocking there.

...and yes i know swtor has the story which many ppl like. But I know that wont hold this game togheter for a longer time. And thats why since this just feels like bad version of wow or same game as wow. Many ppl will quit sooner then they know it.

This is your opinion. I'm sorry that you've chosen an incorrect and substantially wrong opinion to share with the general public. I can only wish that you refrain from doing this in other matters in your personal life, as it will cause you no end of grief. In the future, think before expressing yourself, it will save you from all sorts of troubles. :D

  3. That's right - I see lots of OPs putting up posts with honest, clear, FEEDBACK designed for the developers to see. This feedback is critical although constructive most times in that the developers might read it and eventually make a change to the game FOR THE BETTER. How many times in every game do we see things like "The community demanded it..." or "We heard your voice and we're changing yada yada".

YET you annoying "defenders" who can't bear to see ANYTHING negative written about your precious SWTOR come in and turn every discussion into a fight under the angle that you are the good guys. Guess what, SWTOR isn't "good" or "bad". There's nothing to defend. Provide developer feedback, and move on. Nobody cares about your bashing or insulting comments.

    FEEDBACKERS, keep providing that feedback!

    You are overreacting.

  4. 1) Would you like to see a quest line that allows you to help choose your ships specifications, in order to have a somewhat unique ship? For instance, during this quest, you could shake down a junk dealer for money and choose something from his "junk yard" such as armor plating, different hyperdrive, blasters, ect. Yes I know it sounds familiar...it's just an example.

    a) Yes

    b) No

    c) I don't care if there is a quest or not.

    2) Would you like your ship exterior to look different from other players? Different appearances could be accomplished during the ship creation quest line.

    a) Yes

    b) No

    c) It doesn't matter to me.

    3) Would you like to be able to purchase upgrades to your ship as you level, such as Mail Boxes, Galactic Trade Network Terminals, Vendors, Weapons, a Wookie whom you can play 3d chess against, ect...?

    a) Yes

    b) No

    c) I don't care either way.

    4) Would you like to receive decorations for your ship as loot drops and quest rewards? (These could include, medals, accomondations, trophy's, statues and so on)

    a) Yes

    b) No

    c) I don't care what the interior of my ship looks like.

    See answers in orange.

  5. EQ just put out another expansion too.....the 18th one.

Vent? what Vent? you type it all out and you like it! I would like to see the average gamer these days set up a Complete Heal chain and keep it going through a boss.

    /sigh the good ol days

    1999-2006

/ooc TRAIN TO ZONE! MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!

    Lol, vent.

In SWG we ran an in game auction event for charity. People donated items, we set up an account for the charity (Leukemia, 1 of our guildies had passed away from it), and then auctioned the items for cash.

I had volunteered to be the auctioneer. It wasn't until that morning it hit me, I was going to type everything out. 8 hours later I had, and I have to say we did a good thing. But my hands cramped for 3 days afterwards.

Lol, vent. That would have been nice.

  6. Thanks to everyone that has given a positive reply, even if you disagree with some of my points.

Not all Bounty Hunters are Mandalorian... you know this, correct? A Mandalorian is a citizen of the planet Mandalore.

    I am aware of this.

The Mandalore himself makes you Mandalorian because of your actions during the Bounty Hunter story line. This is re-affirmed several times, with The Mandalore and other NPC's referring to you as Mandalorian. The story is VERY clear on this, and it follows canon. Mandalorian isn't just a tribe, but a way of life. It takes someone very special to be adopted by the people, moreso when done by the Mandalore himself.

I agree with all of OP's points, except the GTN. You can specifically search for item types, cost, level, whether it's blue or purple etc. I think it works perfectly.

There is a Search function under construction where you can search for names of the items, but according to a developer post; it had a lot of issues that couldn't be fixed with just 1 line of code, so they removed it to be able to fix it thouroughly.

SWTOR, as it stands now, has a lot of amazing content and some very bad content, but the potential for this game is unlimited. They have, what? 40-50 years of comic books, novels, movies, TV series etc. to draw inspiration and ideas from, but I loved that they focused most of their attention on the leveling experience. That will keep me entertained for months.

99% of all the feature suggestions people have are perfect for expansion content. Just because it's not in the game at launch, doesn't mean the game designers don't have plans for when to put it in the game.

Remember guys, it's EA. They have probably worked up a massive schedule that goes on for the next 2-3 years of what content to put in when.

They draw you in with the amazing story lines, then they make you ecstatic when they add new cool features and gameplay content.

I feel a little like a "/tinfoilhat" should be added at the end here, but it wouldn't surprise me considering the massive amounts of money involved in the gaming industry nowadays.

Gotcha. I just want to be able to search by gear slots. That other game spoiled me. Along with 12million + other players. Silly, I know...

Wish the cantinas were more lively and felt more like the cantina in Star Wars...with tons of species and all that...

    ...

I'm actually dreading getting to Level 50. Without collecting/decorating/better economy I'm afraid I'll be bored. If all I have to do is fight, what a waste of a great Universe and character!

That is the perspective of a newbie that wants to keep enjoying this game for a long, long time.

So...thanks for the great post OP. And thanks to the Devs that hopefully read this thread!

You're welcome! I'm not alone, most of the people playing SWTOR right now wish it the best, it's just easy to get drowned out on these forums.

Don't dread 50, it's fun. But if it's not completely to your liking, there are 7 other stories to enjoy. Although the ending of the Bounty Hunter story was kind of flat (in my opinion, you can see others loved it) I'm certain most of these stories are going to be jsut as amazing as the SI. I've heard rumors about some that I have to see to believe.

    And I will. :D

TOTALLY THIS. I'm a collector-oriented player. Collecting keeps me in a game for years. All I have to collect right now is gear, and even THAT there is so little I can collect based on appearances. I SO want to collect things for my ship, and I'm completely into decorating my ship. BTW, as a collector, I was beyond extremely disappointed how little there was to collect in the CE store. Bummer that.

I think Developers lose sight of this type of player. I split myself between all the aspects of the game; some solid end game raiding, good team pvp, a little player made event every once in awhile, and serious rare collecting. I was the first on my old SWG server to have full RIS armor, and probably the only person in WoW that could hold a conversation by linking flavor text off grey items I had collected. Some of them... just wow, naughty and fun.

  7. Yes? There is no word or name that is vulgar or offensive. There are people that are offended but that is because they have some "ethically or moral thought". Why should we pander to weak-minded people. If you're offended by something, it's you that have issues not whatever offends you.

Yes, ethics and morals are what bind civilization together at the seams. Without these, society and the life you and I are accustomed to would be torn apart.

So when a player combines the term "****" with the word "fantastic", as if the act of **** is somehow a wonderful thing, it deeply offends me to my core. And please, do not make the mistake that I am either weak, or weak-minded with your own confused obtuse thinking. You would be better off playing with an angry rattlesnake. But I digress. Molesting children is not something that is wonderful or has any place in civilized society, and those that would glorify such behavior should be ostracized.

This thread is meant to be constructive, not some grounds for people to defend those being purposely offensive and disgusting. Thanks!

  8. Another GTN tip:

Ok, you posted up something to sell on the GTN, and you listed it for way too much. Got a little excited and hit that extra number then posted it, so it's selling for 6,999c instead of 699c (or something like that, just an example). Ouch.

Do NOT run to the cancel button, you will lose your (considerable) deposit. Let the item sit through it's course on the GTN. If someone doesn't pick it up (maybe it's the last item and they desperately need it to craft that long sought after modable chest piece so they can run a Hard Mode and money isn't an option) you will get back most, if not all of your deposit back.

    Awesome.

  9. I currently play on a very high population server, and all I pretty much see are humans.

It's quite a let down to me playing a game with such a huge universe to use for it's story but only having a handful of playable races. That and the VAST majority of players I see are human.

Oh well, this is most likely just my server.

OH, YOU MEAN RACES PEOPLE CHOSE TO PLAY.

For a minute, I thought you meant the PLAYERS were mostly human, but we had some aliens behind those computer screens. My bad. :D

  10. Add them up and you would be nearing your 2nd 50.

People like you are too hard core!!

    Powertech Bounty Hunter: 50

    Sith Maurader: 20

    Sith Juggernaut: 16

    Jedi Knight: 7 (<-next level 50 toon)

    Vanguard Commando: 11

This doesn't include the countless Sith Warriors I've leveled then decided I didn't like their look. I am so tired of Korriban... with beta and live I've been through that place 7 times now. I think if I go there again my spacebar will break.

LOVE the Jedi Knight progression and story, it's a very nice change from the Imperial side of things. Trooper story also looks strong, although I just leveled a Powertech so I'll wait on leveling that toon.

  11. Some thoughts on these points. First I kinda understand the option for removing the match color option. While its slightly annoying, so would looking like every other person in the game. Through hard work and diligently searching the vendors in game I've found a really nice set of dark grey/red armor that actually matches but is not part of a set. It just takes a little more work.

This is not SWG, we don't need dancing monkies in the cantinas. Sorry this is a feature that stuck with so many people but I really don't want to see this.

the GTN is an awful mess, I think they know this but haven't had time to address it correctly. Its improved since BETA though

I agree on the names, its awful that these names are allowed to be used as long as they are.

Threat isn't an issue for me really, the problem I would like to see maybe is some passive threat generation, so that I'm not constantly moving around. As long as the group isn't a bunch of morons and can relatively stay on 1 or 2 targets I'm pretty good with that. There are tricks and strategies you need to employ to setup a good pull but a healer with guard isn't going to pull agro after a few seconds if you are doing your job.

I wasn't a cantina monkey in SWG either, although I did buy my wifes toon a breast augmentation so she could get better tips from the patrons. Believe it or not, it worked.

Having said THAT, I'll get to the point... every time I walk into a cantina they are so well designed I feel it is a waste the community doesn't have a reason to use them. The cantinas in this game really have the feel of nightclubs and bars, places you'd want a fun loving community to hang out in. Alot of time and love was put into making these places and they're pretty much going to waste.

  12. Two words: Seat cushions. Seat cushions are why the Republic is currently more awesome than the empire.

Seriously, I'm a Jedi Knight and my droid butler C2N2 just put extra cushions on all the seats in my spaceship and it is faaaabbbuullooussss. The drive out to Taris took a really long time but because of those cushions I arrived fresh and lively.

I suspect that if you guys just put some extra cushions on your spaceship seats you wouldn't arrive everywhere looking all angry and this war and the whole dark/light thing would just sort itself out.

C2N2 is awesome but you can't have him. Find your own droid butler.

My ship is always freshly painted. Always in the same color, so you can't tell it's been painted, but mind you, it's always a fresh coat of paint. Empire wins.

  13. That's a bummer. My Jedi Shadow storyline was great. But like movies not everyone likes the same things. Overall good review and suggestions.

I really liked the Bounty Hunter story until Corellia. Tarro Blood... heheheh, that was satisfying. oh, I forgot a MAJOR complaint that needs to be included NEXT PATCH (how could I forget this???):

    17. GIVE BOUNTY HUNTERS "...THE MANDALORIAN" TITLE ASAP. We deserve it. We're Mandalorians, we fought for it, we earned it. Siths get Lord and Darth, all we get is some long title that really looks silly when every other Bounty Hunter is also wearing it. It might as well read

"...Champion of the Great Hunt, but maybe not this year's Great Hunt, because the guy beside me is also a Champion of the Great Hunt, and we both didn't win this year, so yeah."

    Really. :p

  14. Let me start by saying I'm not canceling my subscription. Overall, I'd give the game an 8.5/10. It has a lot of potential for the long term. After going through beta and now reaching 50 with my Powertech I have a few thoughts that maybe a BioWare developer will stumble across and bring up at a meeting somewhere... if they haven't been brought up already.

    1. Ending for the Bounty Hunter story line was lame. Story was awesome until Corellia, then took a nose dive. I did not, in any way, shape or form, feel epic or involved.

    2. Sith Inquisitor story is mind blowingly amazing. One of the best wrap up for a story out of any video game, movie or book in the last 3 decades. When my wife finished it up, everyone in our house was watching and cheering. Good job.

    3. Please allow us to shut up our companions. 2V-R8 makes me want to kick babies, and I wish we could use the shock collar to induce a coma in Vette. Mako isn't too bad, but really, for the love of all that is holy, how many times do we need to hear she's not just another pretty sidekick?

    4. Allow us to turn off head gear for companions. Plenty of threads on this already. Go go now, code this in.

    5. I know the UI is getting fixed. Allow us to move it, resize it, etc. This can't happen soon enough.

    6. PvP is fine. Keep refining it and it will be great.

    7. Give us stuff to decorate the inside of our ship. Player housing is a huge strength in mmo's. This will help keep me interested in my lvl50 character by giving him something to do other than killing the same bosses over and over again for gear.

    8. Deploy the armor colorization feature, where gear matches the chestpiece. We know you have it, stop delaying. Please.

    9. Refine the Galactic Trade Network. Even Tabula Rasa (lol) had a search option to browse items by type. I shouldn't have to scroll through 17 pages of bracers and belts to look for something to wear on my head. I respect you guys at BioWare, however let's be honest, the GTN interface as it stands is an epic failure for the amount of money and time you've had on this game.

    10. Weekly (daily) bug fixes are good, well done and thank you.

    11. Auto stacking in bags? Enough said.

    12. Why do I need to go to a cantina? Sure, there's rest XP for my low level toons, but what purpose do they really serve other than an inn? Can we get some quests, or maybe earn social XP, to push people into the cantinas to dance. Maybe a personal profession system, where we choose dancing or music or something similar that we can level in the cantinas. It would help get that second "m" in the "mmo". Just a thought.

    13. That race on Voss? With all the colors on them? Yeah, you should let us play as those. Very cool.

    14. Get the in game CSR's to start cleaning up names now. Legacy names like "Rapetastic" and "Childmolestor" really shouldn't stand more than a few hours after being reported.

    15. Break the mold with level 50. Don't make it all about PvP or Pve, give us more to do. I mentioned collecting things to decorate our ships with, how up pod racing, or racing our spaceships? Set up racing circuits around the galaxy, could be fun.

    16. Fix threat ratios between tanks, dps and healers. With Powertechs and Juggernauts we lose threat far too easily. Maybe better gear at 50 fixes this, but it's frustrating at the moment. Even my healer, under Guard, can peel mobs away with just a few heals. It feels broken right now.

I've got more, but that's enough for now. Thanks for a great game, I'm looking forward to seeing it improve and grow over the months and years ahead. :D

  15. I appreciate that you want to do something positive, however, please make sure you understand the difference between trolls who just want to make your life miserable and people (like me) who love the game but want bioware to address some of its serious flaws.

I do not take any issue with people wanting to improve the game. You will find that I have /signed several threads suggesting improvements, and have not argued with a single player that has taken a positive, constructive approach to the issues they want addressed.

However, I have no patience for the idiots bashing without regard. They can 'Get The Frack Out' for all I care, and not soon enough.

  16. It was NOT nerfed again. This is NOT true.

Logged in to two different toons with slicing this morning for 2 hours each, switching back and forth. Recorded results from missions are consistent with the results from the past week. If anything, this morning was a little above average, but that happens some days.

I am running over 1.2 million credits across my characters, keeping them fully trained, armored and in top level appropriate gear.

Please stop spreading lies about this profession.

I am flagging your thread. Thanks.

  17. It does need to be broken up by categories and have another set of eyes look over it. I will be working for the next few hours, then home, which means in game playing! I'll probably look this thread over on my other monitor, but the wife is close to 50 so I'll be running around with her all weekend - no time for working on this.

Everyone's contributed to it, let's have more hands and eyes cleaning it up and getting it out there. Lheim (the OP) started something good here, I'd like to see it take off! :D

    And keep those tips coming!!!

  18. As enjoyable as this discussion has become, let me get it back on track by pointing out there is an excellent thread in the New Player Help forum called "Little Tips and Tricks You didn't know". You can find it here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=99858

A good many people have come together to try to make the game a better experience for other players by posting in that thread. If you would like the game to be more enjoyable, consider contributing something of your own.

    Thanks! :D
