  1. A bit more cautious sounds about right. Weird fact is, ME3 is the sequel to a game I already know why I liked. If I come across issues in it, I doubt I'll nag about it in the forums. Issues I encounter with SWTOR represent something different entirely since the game aspires to be a lengthy investment by both developers and players.
  2. This for President. Oh and: - The game engine was so massive and full of potential that if someone had to write a guide about leveling your character class there, he'd need *terrabytes* of storage for his .pdf files.
  3. It's just a precaution. Not being a native speaker, I edge on being obsessed with making my point efficiently clear. In fact, there are times I think every forum's community would be rid of most of its problems if people dared themselves to use E-Prime when posting. (English Prime requires of the speaker to not use the word "is" in his language, ever) I can't see dear Robert Anton Wilson as a dull man at all... It would present with an interesting outcome as far as civil discussion goes, eh? (Even though having people throw words around for the heck of it, could probably become the next e-sport in the very near future. Wrrrdcraft Online, anyone? Investors? Anyone?)
  4. I understand this perfectly, and trust me, I'm never delusional about how a game can be upgraded or optimized or patched to - almost - perfection given time. This, I believe is the one thing SWTOR has going for it. It is not a question of "if". It WILL get better over time. What my point is really about, is how *some* of the things that plague subscribers of this game shouldn't require "waiting" on the end user's part... While there are other marvels of gaming tech out there that a developer should be *extremely* interested in, such as (yes, it's a feature of WoW, I'm sorry I have to bring that up) a patching system that takes care of critical updates first and allows the user to play while non-critical files are being downloaded and sorted out. Genious! Sorry once again for sounding repetitive. My Star Wars upbringing screams for this game to get better
  5. I am not a native English speaker so I respectfully ask for you to forgive any dire mistakes in language/grammar/spelling. I almost convinced myself to skip this part, but deep down inside, I'm certain we all wish that some of what we say will eventually reach the right ears and make some of our wishes come true. (This is, I feel, a very "human" value and one that is a bit underappreciated imho.) Consequently, I sincerely wish this game becomes all it has the potential to. I have read numerous (and I do mean four digit numbers) forum threads which point out to what a wonderful game SW:TOR can shape out to be and almost always agree and usually on most of the points given. This community is wide and has strong supporters of various opinions. And diversity is a good thing. Fortunately or unfortunately, my opinion will have to side with a percentage of people that are like-minded. This under no circumstances means that I feel superior to people of different mindsets or that I should be imposing my own opinion on them. I wish to be clear with that. That being said, I have been anticipating the release of this game for a long time. I ended up being let down on a number of things while there were a precious few keeping me playing for as long as I did. Bioware did good in their own strengths and were led astray in some aspects of gaming that were poorly implemented. In the end, this fact will work differently on me than other players. Some quit, some stay, some do the in-between. I will probably tread the in-between. It shouldn't really matter. My few questions/contributions/scraps of thought on this game are - I feel - fair to express: -While the technology behind similar games/products is ever-evolving (and faster now than ever before in human history), SW:TOR seems to have been set up on a platform that feels SERIOUSLY stiff and ungainly. Sluggish even! I'm sure there's potential to expand and implement newer features, but even early during gameplay I didn't experience playing a game that picked up in 2012 where others of its kind left-off. There are options that simply make sense to have - in 2012 - like disabling the auto-centering camera on your character. I'm sorry, but I simply see NO reason NOT to include THE OPTION. Would it make a difference in the code included in the 20GB installation? I doubt it. This is just a very small example of features which should, imho, have been implemented BEFORE release. I have no interest in what the game will be like a year from now if I stop playing 6 months in. No PvP ranking system, guild bank, Character and UI customisation options in an MMO? In 2012? How can you point to strong community interactions/rivalries/alliances without key features such as a guild display item (i.e. tabard)? Upon release? In 2012? In an MMO? -I'm certain a lot will disagree but repeating the same instance/dungeon/combat experience for the Nth time offends me as a contemporary player interested in the evolution of my character. I'm sorry for sounding so strongly on this, how can you discuss the potential of a decade of playing this game when it's not evolving on the INSIDE? Endgame should be expanding dynamically to the players' needs, THEY should be driving the gameplay, not begging for expansions/patches/updates. With 3rd generation MMOs on the way, a game of the genre claiming to be immersing should allow players more connection to the environment. Not have them trudge obliginly and - linearly - through it. (And then paste 3-minute static-loading screens in frequent intervals.) -Ever since Admiral Ackbar's barbels shook under his chin when he gave orders in the battle of Endor, the Star Wars franchise spoke space battles to me. I never expected the grandness of an over-simplified 1995 TIE Fighter flight model in SW:TOR... That would have been too much to ask from every user to endure. But I sure would expect the OPTION, when there are browser-based games out there with a 3D flight environment. One, single, lousy area where I can simply fly freely and shoot at things. Would the OPTION have been an exaggeration to have? In 2012? All I'm trying to say, all those things are out there, now, in display. Some have been for years. I somehow fail to see why the developers didn't make full use of that when designing this game. Players with options are usually happier than players without. I'm sorry for taking anyone's time who didn't find anything useful in this long read. I did have a good time playing this game so far. I still wish I will do so in the future as well.
  6. This is wonderful! So I guess additional content that will be probably implemented months from now is good reason for me to shut up and NOT feel bored and let down by this anymore. Hooray! Oh, wait...
  7. Could you please explain to me how a product in need of "improvements" and "more content" is worth rating 10/10? I'm sorry, I honestly am not trying to troll here, I just find something terribly amiss.
  8. My life doesn't suck, yet this game manages to help a bit along that course. Your logic is fail. 8/10 For the effort of trying to create an enjoyable MMO full of immersion into my favourite franchise 4/10 For the released product
  9. This ^^^ (Actually made me lol on account of how true it is)
  10. No I won't go as far as comparing, but being old enough to have played some of the earliest MMOs I have the right to look for things I like in a game. So far: - I can't fathom how lonely this game gets at times. The splintering and instancing, the intolerable loading times, the lack of players even in "heavy populated" servers makes me look back to Jedi Outcast with renewed respect. At least the loading was justified - i have little use for grandiose cutscenes and Oscar worthy voice acting when I find some of the character animations ridiculous... When was the last time BW animators saw someone swallow a cane and look around the area using small steps to rotate his - pillar stiff - torso, instead of simply turning their head around? This is what I call fail in 2012. - Veteran MMO players know that Endgame usually is where the real fun begins. Raids, factional warfare, guild vs guild pvp etc. I am a huge fanboy and I feel hugely let down by what goes on at lvl 50. - Really? You RELEASE an MMO withOUT a guild bank feature? Shows how high you place intraplayer/guild interaction in your list of priorities. I've already gone far. Sorry for the wall of text
