  1. Also since no-one has suggested this yet, make sure your tv isn't on zoom or 4:3 or stretched
  2. 1) Might have a windows phone. 2) Might not be able to get a physical authenticator shipped to them 3) see above
  3. Ahh the titan isn't 'that' good.. he'd probably still lag with that, really he should try one of these. NOTE: may need modifications to run games... and pretty much every other commercially availiable program
  4. I could give you a list of parts and alternatives and you could find something similar in your price range for your area, but i'd suggest either buy parts yourself and build it yourself (it's not too difficult), or take it to a local shop to build, Or try a custom build online store (like cyberpower but in your region). http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/how-to-tech/build-a-computer.htm link to how to build one, it's extremely simple if you use air cooling, and even liquid isn't difficult. If you are on intel you may need to install a backplate with your cooling which makes it a bit more difficult but it's not too much hassle.
  5. Cyberpower is good, but i don't think they ship to Australia and if they do it will probably be quite expensive, and you say nvidia, but AMD is on almost on par and cheaper in graphics cards. And since Hero engine doesn't have physx nvidia has no real advantage over AMD in this one So go for whichever Graphics card wise, and for cpu within budget, if you can afford an I7 if not go for a FX-6350 and then to I5 ect ect
  6. The thing is, Hero engine, which is what swtor is built upon just highly modified but still holding it's core, uses the gpu a fair amount where as it's cpu workload they tend to keep to quite a low amount, i'm not saying it's a great cause it's not but, when they made it they did take into account that the gpu can process some things alot faster than a modern cpu, especially high end modern ones. This led them to create there engine to take advantage of the gpu more than the cpu, so to raise fps in swtor you are better off having a high end gpu and a slightly cheaper cpu, Yes you will be bottlenecked in other games quite drastically, but with a mid end 3.8GHz quad core, or prefereably a 4.2GHz dual core, in swtor you would be golden if you had a 750TI/280x or higher. My percentage is based off AI suite 2,(and corsair link but thats broke currently). i'm on an FX-6350 OC'd (4.5GHz 6 core). and although the current hero engine is a single thread engine, i'm inclined to say that one of the modifications made by bioware was to include a bit more multi thread support, i'm basing this off the fact that when playing swtor with noting else in the background loads a spread evenly between the first 3 cores of my cpu, These average at about 40% load per core, which isn't much all things considered. Based on my gpu temp (since i don't currently have gpu-z installed to check the load) I'm going to estimate at about 60-70% gpu load roughly. So basically what I am saying here is that with a 4.2GHz dual core you could easily run this game with room to spare on your cpu. AMD's performance per [currency] however is alot higher than intels, so if you are on a budget AMD is a good way to go, also the black edition CPU's tend to be monsters at overclocking providing you have relatively good cooling. I'll agree on that, however I do believe that it would be wise to go AMD since AMD is moving their architecture forward for the next cpu release (and APU but they suck in all honesty). But they are still sticking to the FM2+ socket, so having an AMD motherboard already will allow you to easily swap to a better AMD processor, which will be very competitive in the gaming market i think, personal opinion this part of course
  7. Try setting your IP address to static, that way it should only ask for the password when your router get's turned off, otherwise everytime your computer get's turned off or your wireless/wired gets unplugged your IP will change thus swtor will see you in a different location
  8. SWTOR isn't actually that cpu-dominant, In game my cpu load barely goes over 35% load, and averages at about 27%. GPU goes to a temp of about 62C where it levels out so it's quite evenly balanced between cpu and GPU. Now I do agree with building it yourself or getting a more tech-saavy friend to build it. If you go this way, depending on your budget ofcourse i would suggest AMD for cpu, It's alot cheaper and are overclocked better if you go for the black editions. (They are also easier to install since AMD Mainboards already have a backplate installed whereas intel don't.)... Again depending on budget if you are just playing swtor you shouldn't need more than a 750ti or an R9 280, They are both relatively good cards and will play most games at a good speed. Obviously if you can afford it i would suggest going for the 780ti or a 290x (Or if you really want to push it a Titan Z or 295x2(beautiful card!!). AMD's will give you a much cheaper build, the one thing to watch though with higer end gpu's and cpu's is that you don't get a cheap powersupply as that will cause problems even if they are high enough W. As far as CPU's go, swtor doesn't use more than 2 cores EVER, and tbh not much games do at the moment as the API's aren't designed to as of now (Hopefulyl with Mantle and DX12 coming that will change soon), So on that note i would suggest getting a Quad core as Octa cores are pointless really, nothing will take advantage of the multiple cores. You could get a 6-core but again not all that much point (although I can suggest the FX-6350 for overclocking..it handles it beautifully). (I'm a bit of an AMD fanboy so i can't really suggest anything on the intel side but go for the 3000 series not the 2000)
  9. Played a game like that aswell, 9Dragons for those interested. Mods on that were great, they used hidden characters, would talk in the chat a few times. They weren't like OP to hell characters, just set to the max possible level in the game, which wasn't accessible to players. They'd also go round killing any griefers, so level 200's who were on the level 40 map killing everthing (and everyone on the pvp servers)... But every now and then you'd get a group of level 235 (max level when i last played) chars who would then gang up on the Mod and kill him... was rather amusing, they ended up making an event out of it
  10. I think we might The original full release of Galactic StrongHolds was set for August (Subs were going to get a feature limited early entry and then it would be complete when accessible by F2P), But instead Subs are getting feature complete in August and F2P are having to wait till October. Now since subs are getting a Feature complete version, not much is going to be needed on strongholds before the f2p release, maybe a few bug fixes(okay definitely a few(read: a lot of) bug fixes. But this means that they are probably only behind schedule by maybe 2 weeks a month at tops (in the actual development cycle. release wise it depends how you look at it. they could be on schedule or two months back). Now if we think we would probably have seen the new expansion in November, we may see it in december instead, in time for christmas no doubt. (And they don't shy away from xmas releases.... the whole game was released just before xmas).
  11. Just turn chat off on home planets it's the best thing to do... I once had a 6 hour conversation about cats taking over the world so we should eat them all... Only one person objected but he was a self righteous abstinent vegan 12 year old christian judging by some of the comments he threw out. But atleast you are not complaining about profanity i 'spose
  12. Well i would jump in on this but i deleted most of my characters, i will however jump on the ones i have left and have a look... Get ready for an edit Well without any of my old characters (i deleted everything above 45) I have played a total of 16 days 4 hours.... I dread to think what it would have been with all my 50's there :L
  13. Also the game is modular, it's practically impossible for everybody to go into a single instance of say Smugglers den (smallish area where everyone can use attacks, best place to crash a server)
  14. Yeah that would do it for me too
  15. Yes legacy means global, and that is what this storage is. Its a global storage accessable on all characters. Personally I think if something b is bound to one character, (not legacy bound) then it shouldnt be able to go in legacy storage.egacy is just more convenient than mailing things around
  16. Well i was in during closed beta, and was 3rd day early entry at release, so you know i'm relatively elder xD Huh number is alot higher than what i was expecting though,
  17. Welcome to mmo update cycles... but on the point of the guild ships I do feel like they could put in some large pvp battles over who claims the planet, or maybe just part of the planet. Also to provide for pve guilds in that sense they could put mob clearing events.(or item gathering) on one area of the planet and a pvp event in another area for the pvp guilds.
  18. Sorry to jump in, in the middle of your well non-debates But do you think you will be doing another one after this ones finished??? (Also looking good from an outside point so far, not *too* much epic god mode skills )
  19. I used to play a game called 9Dragons which had a few interesting quest mechanics. Long grindy game though but very good and combat mechanics were pretty good too
  20. You can make a higb-mid end budget desktop build for £600 (about $1100) maybe a bit less if you stick to amd hardware and buildbit yourself (although in the uk cyberpower is a pretty good cheap builder)
  21. umm so basically what you want it to make all current healing classes obsolete by adding a fourth tree to the two pure dps adv classes..... you want to heal on a IA you go operative... you want to heal on a maur/sent...well you roll a sage or sin o and also obvious troll is obvious
  22. wow necro much... and anyway they would have to get the rotational speed for every planet.... comeon we can't have them putting Hoth as an earth day when really its like 28hours or something like that. and tattooine is 16 hours.. think how much work this would take
  23. Bioware have always been the silent development type. It makes it much easier to develop then because you don't have CM's posting in forums one thing and then the design team decides to scrap that idea and the playerbase gets really really annoyed because theres a mismatch of information.. for a developer its better to be silent and have customers complaining that theres no information on their product than it is to be active in communication with the customers and have a very very likely scenario where there is a mishap in the communication and something is said which is no longer true, or is not supposed to be released. I'm going to use an example i hate to use because i hate the company in the scenario but it is one which is very easy to understand. Apple when developing a new product will never release any details on this product until usually 1-2 weeks before the actual release of said product. This gives them freedom in design options which allows for any last minute changes. The customer knows nothing official(obviously there is leaks) and therefore if apple has to get rid of something which the customer may like because of technical difficulties then the customer dosn't complain that it has been removed because they didn't have an official word that it was there in the first place. the less you know the wiser you are
  24. i just want to point out that you can use a tablet to control your pc. this gives basic touch functionality in game but you can never move and attack at the same time, and touch in an mmo will never work well.... tbh touch just doesn't work on pc's in my opinion (tablets and phones are okay). And now to the windows 8 lovers....its horrible they've added 3 clicks to everything.. I don't use the start button often anyway(only to open cmd and regedit really) but in windows 8 just to shut down your pc without using keyboard shortcuts you have to move your mouse to the right of the screen then click pc settings then click power then click shutdown, wheres the productivity in that. If you need to find a program which isn't on your start menu, you either have to type it in search or go to start screen, right click, click all applications, and then trawl through the masses of unorganised(unless you organise it yourself) applications/uninstallers/folders/cmd executables...(it is slightly organised but not like windows 95-7). And also linking my pc with an xbox... wheres the logic in that consoles are the bane of all gaming(unless its the Atari/super Nintendo/Sega megadrive you get the idea). The only way I can see windows 8 being better for productivity is if your in an office job where you basically just use one program 24-7. I'm a programmer personally and windows 8 is not good for programming at all. just to get file locations is hard enough
  25. please please don't try and add touch to my mmo... it's already ruined my laptop experience (just brought new one with windows 8 pre-installed..... can't wait till i can afford windows 7) Touch is not the way forward for gaming, atleast not hardcore gaming. A mouse and keyboard is just how its meant to be played. please don't take that away from me to
