  1. Define "slower". I almost always quit to character selection screen then use exit button and for the last week I had few sec black screen and had to wait till desktop turned on. I run on i5 intel, 4gb ram, can't remember what gfx card exactly but nVidia for sure, just can't recall spec. Pretty decent build but not high end. What I noticed is that you are required to have pretty fast HDD. Mine is slow as snail and while game itself runs smooth on quite high settings I have several issues with texture loading. It looks like I enter new area/building and have just textures if they were 800x600. Then they load improved and more complex until they reach destination resolution and quality. I can observe sometimes 3-4 steps before I can see high quality textures. On the other hand I had an opportunity to play on a bit stronger PC but game was sitting on a SSD. My issues were nonexistent. While other PC parameters were comparable the only real difference was a HDD. And it mattered. Overall I find SW TOR rather resource devouring and not as smooth in running as WoW... Lots of improvements I'd like to see here.
  2. Question to all who lost names due to transfer - how long did you wait till the whole process was complete? I ask this because one thing bothers me. My bro-in-law lost some names but he rushed and logged in before stated hour passed. I, on the other hand, started the transfer for all my four Republic toons and in the meantime I played on Empire for like 3 hours. When I end playing I simply relog to new server and had all transferred toons there with their original names. I even logged in with all four just to check if the names will remain. Then I quit the game, logged in into account and ordered my other four Empire toons to be transferred. Then went sleep. Empire transfer I checked next eveninig (approx 12 hrs after order) and again - all toons with their original names, nothing lost. But my bro - he ordered a transfer and didn't wait requested time (in my case it was 1 hour to complete). So I'm wondering - maybe that's why. You logged in too early when server "booked" your toon;s name but didn't finish all the transfer while toon was already on list. So when you entered a server you encountered an error. Simply server didn't merged your reserved name with your toon. And it was thinking that another player wants to use a name that is already reserved. Just a thought - share your stories and let's see if I'm wright or rong
  3. None. Transferred 8 chars from A to B and didn't lost anything. The only issue I had was that I made my first transfer and target server said: 2 characters. So when I transferred my 7th char I have reached 8 char limit. even thou when I logged into that server I still had one slot empty. Luckily BW was aware about that and they already had prepared a solution. 10 minutes later my 8th char was being transferred. But my bro-in-law transferred like 6 chars and lost at leas 4 names.... And they were reallu unique so it's almost impossible that target server already had those names. He wrote a ticket to a GM and we are awaiting for the answer.
  4. Jedi ship not having an additional bed - big deal. I'd be more concerned about not having a kitchen or toilet... Big captain's room, freaking huge holonet transmitter, storage compartments, various other utilities for a luxury travel... But where to piss or order a sandwich from Vette? Anyone?
  5. Simple facts: KOTOR 1 was made by BioWare - was praised for game play and story KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian - was praised for game play and story (personally I prefer #2 more) SW TOR was made by BioWare again. It's obvious that they will follow their own path and marginalize Obsidian. Sure, Obsidian made a fine game (in the eyes of BW) but they won't speak too high of it when they try to keep their own product high.
  6. Boi, got through all 13 pages and I'm amazed that no one mentioned this: Male type 3 Pureblood Sith Warrior name: Jesus Legacy: Christ title: Lord yup, Lord Jesus Christ At first I was LOL, but then /facepalm. And my 0.2 euro: worst legacy: Watthulookinat kinda cool name: Obi-San also name Gwynbleidd. I smiled because of the reference.
  7. Truth be told I enjoy characters that are Empire oriented. Bounty Hunter is my main. And I tohught when I was installing SW TOR on my PC - only force sensitive and saber wielding chars for me. Right now I'm playing BH and Agent. But to be fair - I have all 8 classes, equally 4 vs 4 in terms of factions. I have a perfect balance - 4 on Republic - 4 on Empire - 4 males - 4 females - 2 pairs on Republic - 2 pairs on Empire I'm an altoholic so I plan to get all chars to 50 but right now I play the ones I enjoy the most. Luckily for the Empire that BH works for them.
  8. Ahh, scammers. They don't even try to mask their actions hoping for a blind statistics. General rule: if you fire 10.000 bullets SOME of them MUST hit something. Same was for WoW, same is here. Generic mail with threats and request to provide your login data. All sent from an address like @gmail.com, @yahoo.com or any other free mail hosting site. So, to avoid being scammed few tips: - check the sender mail address. If it's NOT ending with @bioware.swtor.com; @email.swtor.com then ITS FAKE. - no MMO developer will ask for your login and password. ANY, and I mean it, ANY request that urges you to reveal those IS FAKE. No matter the reason. - another fake revealing fact: THREATS. If BioWare suspects you with something THEY BAN FIRST and LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT. Then you must explain yourself. They won't send you threats, warnings or any other details. Something is wrong - you have a ban. Simple as it is. Was it right or not BW will ban and await for your response. - grammar and punctuation. 99% of fake e-mails WILL have grammar and punctuation errors. Sure - official mails are also written by humans and errors can occur. But when reading scam e-mails my eyes hurts. And final: if you are unsure about certain e-mail - log in into your account (but Force forbid you using in-mail links - just open web browser, hand type swtor.com address and do the rest of log in procedure). Then make a support ticket and ask about your issue. SW ToR GM's won't be mad on you as security issues are top issues. And it's safer to ask three times and get clear answer than not to ask even one time and loose account. Bullet proof method - get an authenticator.
  9. Yes, it remains unaffected. Tbh I didn't think about it when I transferred all my toons. After the process was done I simply logged in into new server and continue to play.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Bohun And be careful with medicine themed names. Dark Lord of the Sith: Go now Bounty Hunter, fulfill your contract. Bounty Hunter: As you wish, Lord Viager...
  11. Mantis is not a cruise ship like Agent's or Jedi Consular. It's just a tool, like a chest armor or blaster. It don't have to look. It has to endure and kill. It has everything that BH needs. Spacy and easily accessable cargo hold. Two freaking big energy generators to provide large amounts of power to feed engines and shields. Compact design to minimalize target frame. Straight cockpit - holo terminal - captain's cabin line. What to require more? Wooden floor like Agent's? It's not a luxury yacht. Nerf-skin couches and conference rooms like Consular's? It's a warship, not a diplomatic vessel. Maybe lots of small cargo holds like Smuggler's? Well, BH have cargo - fits in single stasis cell. It's almost perfect. Almost for rear view. It's horrible and refrigerator comparison is very accurate. Mantis' rear is awful. Apart from that I think that Mantis is the best suited vessel among other classes. Agent have second best but only in terms of feels. Can't imagine why it needs such a luxury craft. _______________________________________________ And answering OP's question: no BH couldn't steal a better ship since there is no better for BH than Mantis. Let's see what we have in options: Fury - looks like fine vessel. Nice frame, looks fast and durable, lots of space inside. But it's given exclusively to Sith and stealing from one isn't good move. BH works mostly for Empire so making an enemy among customers isn't smart. Plus Fury affiliate with Empire while BH acts out of borders. Republic Cruiser - similar issue as with Fury. You don't steal a limo from a prime minister to make a bank job. Trooper ship - this one could be it. But probably it lacks in maneuvers and is too big. Agent's ship - too luxury. Wooden floor, leather couches - hard to maintain order and targets don't deserve a leisure trip. Also BHs needs to avoid detection while Agent's ship is like a neon sign. Smuggler's - another good candidate. Common, heavily modify-able. But lacks armor and fire power. So only Mantis remains..
  12. I don't need a companion. At all. I'm a Bounty Hunter. I work alone. I kill alone. I deliver contracts - alone. I'm a lone wolf in this cold galaxy. I don't need a whiny *** walking by my side and talking his/her nonsense. Even tho I play on PvE I somewhat RP my BH. I chose to be cold, ruthless mercenary. Kill someone? Sure. Bring him alive? No problem. Steal an artifact. Pay me to do so. Nothing is too hard provided that there are real money behind. Everyone in my way will be eradicated. But without unnecessary violence and bloodshed. For that I find companions presence... disturbing. I do the dirty work and I do it my way. I don't need to hear anyone's opinion and regrets. Perfect for me would be a hunter-killer droid. Programmed by me with an AI I desire to perform duties I require. I think HK-51 will be perfect. I loved the personality of good 'ol HK-47.
  13. There are several characters that fit almost ex equo the first place: no particular order - Jar Jar Bins. ep1 failed comic character. When I saw him for the first time I was *** is this s**t? Dumb beyond any thought, easily tricked into giving Plapatine emergency powers. Perfect for mindless tool. - Rosh Penin. Damn, he was real PITA. I wanted to kill him already on the shuttle to Yavin. I was really pissed when he survived even when I cut his arm. - Kyle Katarn. Uh, I.HATE.EVERY.ASPECT.OF.HIM. His morlas, his good advice, everything. - Leia Organa/Amidala. With their "diplomatic" solutions to everything. Place is burning, foes are attacking and they do what? Calm down and lets find a diplomatic solution.
  14. R2-D2. period. Every film with heavy language has a nod to that swearing little astromech... BTW - R2-D2 is a real ****** - his all lines were *beep-ed*
  15. There are too much species that are cool to choose from. And most of you all are limited to races that appear in game. What about Falleen? Talz? Ithorians? Rodians? Any other race known from original trilogy? I'd myself want to be a mix of B'omarr monk and droid mix. My own brain encased in a robotic body. IG-88, HK-47, General Grievous mixed toghether thing. That be cool. Hell, I could be in fact anything provided it would be force sensitive and capable of high agility lightsaber duels.
  16. Looking from the history POV - yes. Several characters achieved that. Revan - Jedi Knight who fought in Mandalorian Wars and then journeyed into Unknown Regions because he sensed that real threat comes from there. When Revan came back he was Sith. Here first KOTOR starts when he is betrayed by Malak, brainwashed my Jedi Council and forced to walk a LS again. After that events we are given a story that reveals what happened to him after Star Forge destruction. "Revan" novel is clear. As a former user of both sides he is capable of controlling LS and DS simultaneously. Similar pattern applies to Kyle Katarn. Rather constant switching between two opposite made him somewhat master of both. Jaden Korr from Jedi Academy was also capable of both sides wielding (tho canon says he was LS one). There was a discussion about which emotions feed what side of the Force. Let me remind you training that Kreia gave to the Exile. Especially one - on Nar Shaddaa. There was a small side quest with some refugee that asks for some money. Exile has two options: - LS: help poor soule and give him credits he was asking for (typical LS move - help, compassion) - DS: refuse and let poor guy meet his fate (selfish, cruel move) I remember, back then I was playing a Jedi Exile. Do you recall what Kreia said after helping poor refugee? She granted you a Force Vision of what happened to that refugee after you helped him (noble act, mind you). Some local thugs noticed your help and stalked that refugee. They ambushed him and in the end killed as he struggled to keep the money. In the end your good reaction caused death and suffering. Noble Jedi and LS act that resulted in Dark Side outcome. Next time I played Sith Exile and I refused to help and left. Kreia approved and granted me different Force Vision of near refugee's future. Although I didn't help and didn't changed refugee's material status he benefited from my selfish attitude. Still leading his miserable life but he survived. My cruel act saved him from thugs assault, pain and death. What is more - refugee realized that begging isn't changing anything, he started to think how to overcome his situation and in the end he left Nar Shaddaa alive and lived his life. In the end your evil reaction caused a very positive feedback as refugee rethinked his life, start to act and survived. So my question is: which evil is evil? The one you do (refuse to help) or that one which result in evil (help and then cause death)? How this applies to the Force alignment and emotions feed? I see the Force as a whole, no Dark, no Light. Force just is. Only the way one is using define the outcome. It's like an axe. Same axe can chop wood to build a shelter as well as chop others head. Is axe good or evil? I think that both Jedi and Sith are wrong in their opinions. Both sides focus too much on their side. And we have big fat example on how Old Republic's Jedi Order was wrong - marriage. Before Palpatine era marriage was a no-no. Love lead to attachment. Attachment lead to fear (of loss). Fear...Dark Side emotion is. And then we have New Jedi Order with GM Luke S. Married to Mara Jade. They have son. Jedi Leia Organa married, three kids. Corran Horn also married. Jacen Solo married. Damn, almost whole Jedi Order have a spouse of some kind. And yet they can face numerous threats and remain on the LS. Ah, don't forget about Cade Skywalker. Former Jedi, Sith for some time, he used Dark Powers to get rid of a rakghoul infestation and cured himself and a companion. So - it IS possible to master both LS and DS at the same time. And it would be true balance everyone seeks. Balance within you, not between two factions. As seen that way - there is MASSIVE imbalance in favor of Jedi. Last days of Old Republic. Thousands of Jedi and only a few Sith (Palpatine, Tyranus, Maul to name them). Jedi prophecy was right about Anakin - he DID brought balance. Not when he killed Palpatine. When he turned Sith and helped assasinate remainig Jedi. Remember original saga? We knew two Sith: Emperor and Vader vs two Jedi - Yoda and OB1.
  17. Err... wasn't he blasted away by Force Lightning? The one that Darach reflected onto him? I beilieve that Pureblood stiked Darach with Lightning, it was reflected onto Malgus (bang out of combat). Then Jedi swiched off off-blade from Satele's saber and fought with usual dual wield. Then he blocked staff, reignited 3-rd blade and stabbed Puredlood in the belly. Meantime Malgus recovered from lightning and Force Gripped fallen Master's saber to end the fight. Later he simply took advantage of his Master's wounds as he had seen them as a failure. Typical as for a Sith and Human. And a bit hypocrisy as he got himself wounded by a simple Stormtrooper missile (scar on left cheek), then grenade (more scars on left side of face) and later by Satele's Force Push (damaged chest and need of respirator). So by his standards he also failed...
  18. I believe it's a matter of a personal choice. Plus tradition. Ancient Jedi preferred single saber, Sith were believed to use staves more commonly. And if one would like to to use more sabers - feel free. We have an example already: Exar Kun and Luke Skywalker. The first was using single and double blade. At the end he ended with double bladed version. The latter constructed short bladed saber (shoto) and was dualwielding during preparations and final duel with Lumiya (to counter her lightwhip). Luke used two swords despite being single blade user. But what I cannot get - why to limit yourself with just one blade when you could face a situation when extra blade would be necessary? Technically double-bladed lightsaber is made when you add another saber to your current, but pointing in the opposite direction. To shorten and simplify design both blades were powered from one power unit, had double crystal setting and emitters. That design allowed to use two blades from one hilt that was slightly longer than traditional single bladed one. But it had its drawbacks (as seen during OB1 vs Maul and Malgus vs Sateele). Cutting through hilt destroys whole saber (Sateele) or leave you with just one blade, if you're lucky (Maul). So - why not to double your saber? In one weapon you have actually three: - when connected you have double-bladed saber - when connected you have single-bladed saber with long hilt/grip - when disconnected you dual wield Two connected sabers give more options while in duels. Just one example - my design vs traditional lightstaff. We lock our blades forming an X and struggle to get upper hand. Then I detach my off-blade and perform simple stab while my main blade still blocks opponent's staff. So, if I would be a Jedi I'd build two sabers, connect them to have a staff and have all options available.
