  1. I've just logged in before work to check out the 'Legacy Overflow' ... but there is nothing ... I now appear to have lost ALL the contents of my Red Eclipse legacy bank - really wish I'd listened to my gut & emptied it into my characters inventory/cargo prior to the merge ...
  2. It's always the same ... the tiny minority on the forums trying to dictate to the silent majority quietly playing the game ... why do these people equate MMM = Group? Massive Multiplayer Online ... where in that does it say "Forced Grouping"? Early mmo's did force players to group - even single 'trash mobs' needed a group to take down ... back in those days you could not even leave town without a group - solo players were torn asunder ... back in the early days of mmo's where 250,000 players was HUGE! Back then mmo players had to invest hours upon hours - it was actually beneficial if you did not have a job, so you could devote your every waking hour on it ... sometimes you would have to wait several hours in town to form a group ... 'Prime Time' was really the only time you could properly play, though ... otherwise there was not enough people to form groups with ... the main issue was when people started leaving ... could no longer devote 12+ hours aday to the game ... "damned casuals" ... ... and so the mmo genre nearly became extinct - it was a tiny fringe market - only those who could devote most of their lives played mmo's ... Then World of Warcraft hit and ... most of those old relics complained it was not a real mmo, because people could play without a group!? 0_0 What heresay is this! The reason World of Warcraft was so big is that they capitalised on the fact that most mmo players are solo players ... players could play whenever they wanted - no more having to wait in town for hours upon hours (and sometimes days) waiting to form a group in order to leave town - players could now leave the safety of the town on their own ... and the genre blossomed ... The reason WoW became so big and stayed at the top, is simple. They realise that the majority playerbase for mmo's is - The Solo Player. Some people believe the 'Solo Player' is the bane of the mmo genre ... the most successful games, however, are the ones that recognise this and are not swayed by the tiny (10% - 15%) minority that yell and shout on the forums. The largest chunk of that 10% - 15% are the pvp players ... they have to keep up with what is happening in the game in order to stay competitive. Meanwhile the 'silent' majority are quietly playing and enjoying the game. Until, that is, some of the Dev's start to believe that their majority is in the forums and make game changes based on this belief. Only to be amazed when, after giving their audience what they wanted, there is a mass exodus away ... That's what happened when 4.0.2 hit ... the dev's heard the forumites screaming 'Nerf Companions' ... they believed the tiny minority was their majority and made changes based on this - only to see their numbers sharply decline - which was a huge contrast to their increased numbers following 4.0 ... and it is why they had to change things back. So, lets try to remember - MMO's mass audience is the Solo Player ... players who may only have an hour to spare each day and wants to feel like they can achieve something within that hour ... As opposed to the old, dead, mmo where unless you had 12+ hours aday to commit, don't bother. Massive Multiplayer Online means there are other players in the same space as yourself - you CAN group, if you so desire, or you can progress on your own - or you can log in, play for a bit, go afk without other people shouting at you ... World of Warcraft is so big because it understands this. BioWare are known for their story games - "Dragonage", "Mass Effect" - there was so much hope for swtor when it was first announced ... until the forumites came along and shouted loud enough the dev's made changes to their original concept and ... out came a generic mmo - many, disappointed, left. The game quickly declined to the point where severe server mergers happened. This time last year it even looked like there would only be 4 servers remaining - 2x US, 2x EU (1 normal, 1 pvp) ... right now, swtor is enjoying a resurgence ... thanks to KotFE ... I've never put much stock in IGN anyway - they tend to hate most of the games I love. So, if they hate it, chances are it's a good game. You just get sour revievers, usually part of the tiny minority. I think swtor is doing well, right now - and some people don't like it. Most of the people here shouting for 'old school' mmo have never had to experience the nightmare they used to be - often there was no point logging in at all because there simply was not enough players online ... and there was very little you could do without a group. So, in summary, IGN's 'bad' review is a good thing - it means the game is good - and IGN is as sour as it has always been
  3. There are times I really wish there was a 'Like Button' on Forum Posts
  4. Not all of us bother greatly with 'Strongholds' I have been nonchalant concerning 'Player Housing' since SWG ... I use my 'Stronghold' for one thing, and ONLY one thing ... Legacy Cargo Hold. Other than occassionally dropping off supplies in the Legacy Bank, my 'Stronghold' sits empty - so I will never appear on the 'Leaderboards' - does that mean the game is dying? REALLY? If I am in the mood to build Houses, I play The Sims 4™ ... 'Strongholds has nothing on the Sims Franchise Or ... right now I am building a large Settlement in Sanctuary, on Fallout 4™ ... so much more scope than 'Strongholds' ... now if swtor implemented a system similar to this - I would probably spend a huge chunk of time on it. I am not knocking 'Strongholds' ... a tiny minority wanted 'player housing' and swtor gave it to them ... it's extremely basic but it functions as it was intended -

    I'm done

Founder, Closed Beta Tester, my other account has been here since 2009, first wave of Early Start. Still here. I took a long break because swtor was hard (in my opinion) and that impacted on the story. I made numerous characters, but none got higher than 45. Swtor was so hard, so grindy, it simply was not fun to play. I play to have fun - swtor was NOT fun. 4.0 made swtor FUN - in my opinion this is how swtor was supposed to be from launch - but the masochists on the forums were demanding an mmo in the style of the 'old school' - the game HAD to challenge you. I'm not going anywhere - since 4.0 I have made more new characters and finally have several at max level - still got many more to go and enjoying the journey now Both accounts have been subbed since 4.0 (whereas this account has been perma - subbed since launch, even when I did not play often - not a 'fangirl' - I keep my main accounts in most mmo's perma subbed)
  6. ... and personalities ... the sassy Vette, the 'by-the-book' Dorn, the eager young Temple ...
  7. I like the new companion system. I do NOT want to be gimped simply because my favourite companion cannot do the job as well as one I really hate. For example I hate Malavai Quinn, Doc, Lokin, Cedrax, Tuno, Drellik, ... the ONLY healers I liked & ran with was Elara & Mako. I hate Vik, Bodaar, Fess, Pierce, Blizz, Khem ... ... thus, for Healing and Tanking on those classes I HAD to use Treek ... My favourite characters are - Elara Dorn, Risha, T7, Kira Carsen, Nadia Grell, Mako, Vette, Jaessa, Ashara, Kaliyo, Raina Temple ... <- THESE are the companions I run with now - these are the ONLY (Original) Companions I wanted to run with - but most I could never use, because it did not fit my playstyle - for example, I really like the character of Vette, but my Juggernauts usually ran with a Healer ... Treek could fill two roles, so she was the one I ended up using. My Juggernauts now run with Vette - she used to be dps - I do NOT want her healing abilities Gimped because of that, else I would once again have to run with Treek. My Guardians can now happily run with Kira, whether I use her for dps or healing ... I LIKE THIS SYSTEM ...
  8. ... or buy the 65 Mods/Armoring/Enchantments/Hilts/Barrels from the GTN at stupidly inflated prices - anything from 14 Million to 80 Million + Credits per item ... Needless to say none of my 30+ characters have any level 65 Modifications - just the standard stuff you buy for Common Crystals
  9. Although I am likely to remain subbed for the duration (so long as they do not nerf the companions again), I have no intention of EVER playing as HK ... I have to be able to relate to my character else I cannot play them. I cannot play as a male, for example, as I do not and have never, related to a male. Thus I simply cannot 'invest' in them - the same would be true of a droid. So I would not be able to access the subscriber reward regardless of subbing for the required time. As the game is about Story, specifically the story of MY character, what are BioWare thinking - HK is NOT my character ... if anything I would want a mission specifically for MY Character.
  10. I did! Must have run through it 30 or 40 times ... I just wanted more - that's what led me to mmo's in the first place ... I wanted more ... ended up in pre - CU SWG - my first mmo, thanks to KotOR --------------- As for tonights news ... really not interested in playing as a 'Droid' ... I really do not see how ANYONE can ... how do you relate to a droid? Other than that, I don't mind HK as a Companion - so long as I don't have to do a stupid Jumping Game like the other HK - I have no intention of even trying to get that.
  11. Is 'Recruitment' the ex Heroic 4? I tried that on my level 58 (I level 178) Sniper over the weekend - with inf level 23 Kaliyo I could not get past the first group of mobs ... so much Pushback I could not stay in cover long enough to do any damage ... I had to run, with my tail between my legs ... Kaliyo simply could not keep up ... we barely escaped alive :(:(
  12. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=list+of+mmo%27s&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=Oe5bVqbpDsn3UPLbuIAG Take a look at that list (above) ... There are oh so many mmo's out on the market - most are very similar - few are unique. BioWare are (in)famous for their fantastic story games - Mass Effect, Dragonage, Knights of the Old Republic. These are what BioWare do best. When it was announced BioWare were creating a STORY based MMO, it was aniticipated to be unique amongst mmo's ... Alas, swtor became another generic mmo - added to the growing list of generic mmo's ... some have a gimick or two, but they are all basically the same. Most trying to be 'unique' but all simple 'WoW - Clones' ... THEN Knights of the Fallen Empire was launched and I was transported back a decade and I felt like I was playing Knights of the Old Republic again ... it was a fantastic experience ... my first time through KotFE ... and my second time, and my third, my fourth and my fifth ... now I am getting all my characters lined up to go through. FINALLY BioWare have a Unique mmo ... and if you believe servers are empty since KotFE then you must not be doing the Heroics ... try doing Mutations, or Possessed Hunter ... the queues are horrific ... 140+ people on every planet I land on - it was nothing like this pre KotFE ... numbers like that have not been seen since launch.
  13. As soon as I dismount "C'mon, be a man!" ... running down a corridor "C'mon, be a man!" ... as soon as I appear at a Fast Travel Point "C'mon, be a man!" ... I get into cover "C'mon, be a man!" ... I click on a quest objective "C'mon, be a man!" ... They say it several times a minute ... it's all I am hearing when I have a companion out as my Agent ... This was my thought - so I tried using Temple in dps mode, to help me clear faster, and she was still saying it.
  14. Hmmm ... then I guess the fact that Vector, Lokin AND Scorpio say "C'mon, be a man!" in Kaliyo's voice must be a different bug to the one affecring Temple?
  15. So, Vector, Lokin, Scorpio, Temple - all have not had their dialogue recorded yet? Vector sounds really freaky saying "C'mon, be a man!" in a woman's voice - as does Lokin ... you'd think in 4 years they would have 'recorded their dialogue' ... Ever tried reading? Of course, that assumes you can read ... my appologies if you cannot. My initial post was about how ANNOYING it is to have that line repeated over and over and over and over .... ad infinitum ... nothing to do with being offended ...
