  1. Heya, I came back from a break to pick up my VG. After being kinda frustrated by the changes to AS spec I tried out tactics. I liked the feel, but am having trouble with the rotation. I am really used to the reset on HIB from AS. Does tactics flow better once I get used to the correct rotation and get to 55? I just feel like after I used Fire pulse, gut, stockstrike, and HIB i'm sitting here waiting for a while.
  2. I really do enjoy my vanguard, mainly because before i stopped playing he felt a lot like my hunter form wow, high mobility instant cast abilities. But every time I log on him i just feel the sting of there not being a long range blaster rifle wielding class in the game. Guess I have to just get over it and enjoy the awesome class that my vanguard is.
  3. By coming very soon I take it you mean that the patch is soon, not being able to respec your AC. I do like blaster rifles much more then the mini gun, and my trooper is ******. Before I could deal with being disappointed in his lack of range even though he is using a blaster rifle because the tree was a lot of fun, and was not worse then the commando version(to my knowledge). In your opinion is it worth leveling my trooper from 50-55 or should i just continue my merc BH who is also a lot of fun and also looks ******. Is assault specialist good enough to be effective, or should I go tactics or is there a hybrid build. I have not settled into pvp or pve yet, but will probably do both.
  4. Ok thanks! that seems a bit stupid, I wonder who approved that idea. So basically The Assault Specialist tree for the vanguard is worthless compared to the commando one? Is tactics any better, or should I just re-roll. -Wishing i could just change my AC instead of re level another character-
  5. I guess i miss stated my question. Is there any benefit for the Vanguard shared tree vs the Commando shared tree, or is the top talent the same in both, just with a lower range?
  6. Hiya every body. I have just come back after a long break and hopped on my vanguard and noticed something disturbing. the top teir, and many other abilities have had their 30yard range reduced to 10. I hopped on my Merc BH and his shared tree still has a 30 yard range. Did vanguards get any buffs to offset this difference or are they just flat worse right now?
  7. if your assault spec then crits lower your recharge cells, or what ever the free ability is. this helps out a LOT more then you think it does. crit surge imo, but dont sacrifice them to replace worse mods.
  8. yeah, the best part about this class is that we can do different things for different fights. if its a regular mob i just need to ion pulse and HIB, or ion pulse and stock strike, if its a silver i throw assault plastique in there. . . and so on basically besides maybe a shadow or smuggler vanguards have amazing burst in raids, and boss sustain dps.
  9. i have been going assult, i tried tactics and besides having better ammo management, i just was not doing near as much damage. Edit: i personally like assault plastique, when it blows up it almost does as much damage as a crit ion pulse, and i have an 82% crit dmg multiplyer. so it does a lot of dammage.
  10. Currently the description of the vanguard/power-tech says mid to close range, yet all the trees require the character to be in melee to be optimal, are there any plans to change this, or to change the description to match it being a melee class?
  11. the problem with giving full auto a chance to reset the damage on HIB is that it is dependent on wep damage, therefor we would always be second class to the commando, i would say give this to stickey gernade or AP instead of stockstrike or full auto Edit: also i dont see IP getting put to 30m but it would be nice to have it be like 15
  12. So personally i feel that the shield specialist, with the exception of its 31 talent is pretty good, but if you just grab gut then that is fixed. Tactics has really fun skills, but its a little lacking. Assault is a almost ranged tree, with the exception of stock strike. I say move the stock strike stuff over to tactics. Battering ram is the same level as ionic accelerator, but unlike ionic accelerator it only give a free stock strike, not also refresh the cd. So make battering ram refresh the cd on stock strike much like Ionic Accelerator does for High Impact Bolt. Meanwhile in the Assault tree, switch the current stock strike benefits out for Assault Plastique/Stickey Gernade. This still keeps us mobile, which is the main difference between our Commando counterpart, and (unless i have this wrong) Stickey Gernade and Assault Plastique dont scale off wep damage, thus the shared tree is largely detached from having a weapon that doesn't have as much dmg as our other counterpart. In Summery it boils down to a few things, Tactics: at the moment Tactics has a lot of damage synergy, but most of that is wasted due to the abilities that are being buffed up are on cd longer then the buff lasts for. Give Tactics some flow synergy much like shield or assault. Assault: at the moment is 90% ranged abilities but has 1 melee ability that is vital to its rotation. instead of buffing up stock strike, buff up the explosives and use what the tree is about, which is a mid range dps tree that has to do with lighting stuff on fire and blowing stuff up.
  13. i like my vanguard to, but i dont see the need to make each tree a melee tree, imho the stock strike stuff from assult would fit much better in tactics, 2 of the 3 tree's would be melee and one of them would be a mid range spec, thats what i thot i was signing up for.
  14. from the way i understand the combat table works, the lower one is not pushed off, it has to deal with which one is a higher priority, if it adds the shield to the combat table first, then if your remaining crit chance would cause the table to over flow it gets truncated.
  15. if this is true, and it works the way wow did, while you cant shield crits, if your shield chance and crit chance overlap, crits are pushed off the combat table before shield, therefore while you cant shield a crit, it can reduce the crit chance if you get enough of it.
