  1. Repair utility does not fix the problem. Ryzen, Win10, not using Steam.
  2. Same, Ryzen 9 4900HS, Windows 10. Launcher stays on screen about a second before crashing. Regular launcher, not Steam. 3. Same, as of 3:55 pm CST. Standard launcher, pops up for a second then crashes without giving me time to enter the password or anything else.
  4. Add armor dyes to that wishlist as well. I seriously hope they do spend more time on character customizations. Hood toggles, armor coloring, barbershop, etc. Make them for subscribers as added incentive to sub. Would be nice if new games would recognize how important that is for players, even if it does seem meaningless in context of quests, instants, etc.
  5. Once they put in free to play they'll never drop it. More likely they'll increase the benefit of being subscribed. At least I hope so; the amount of free cartel coins per month they pay for being subscribed seems kinda low to me. I was just looking at Sith Marauder oranges... do you think we could get a "whale tail" toggle as well? I mean, how stupid looking is that?
  6. I know I'm being cynical here but.... it's not going to happen. Why would they spend more time and effort working on it when they already have what people want - on the cartel vendors. Where they can gain income. It doesn't matter that we've been playing since beta, or that we continue to pay for subscriptions. They're moving to a "free play", or more accurately "pay as you go" model. All serious development efforts will be geared towards that, as that is where the money will be coming from, not from subscriptions. You can talk about "loyalty" to subscribers all you want, but it's not the actual people who work on the game who are making the decisions. The designers, programmers and artists probably do feel loyal to those who've been playing since the beginning, but they aren't making the decisions. Upper management and accountants are, and they will direct efforts in pursuit of the greatest profit. If that was coming from subscriptions they wouldn't be changing the game model. Look at the number of minor bug fixes that are being ignored. For example, companions running around with lit lightsabers when the thing is hanging at their side. That is a very easy fix, but we haven't seen it yet. Putting someone on it would eat up time and resources that are better devoted towards making 1.5 work, and hence generating profits. I hate the hoods too, but the toggle is not going to happen. It would require the artists and modelers to make a second copy of every robe in the game, and then adding conditionals to make it the switch when you click the toggle, adjustments to the user interface, etc. That's a lot of resources being used for something that is easier to accomplish by adding a few new items to the cartel vendors instead, items which will generate income for them when non-subscribers find that the old models all have the hoods up.
  7. Y'all are forgetting to mention that UWT metal missions take twice as long as any other mission, for any other skill. A tier 6 metal mission takes over an hour, as opposed to a half-hour (ish) for anything else.
  8. nm, found the answer. There is a "Hutt Cartel" terminal in the Lower Promenade on Nar Shadda that is cross faction.
  9. I was under the impression that that wasn't possible. Is there a "black market" GTN I'm missing?
  10. I sometimes wonder if people actually read the thread instead of just jumping right in and trying to shout it down...
  11. Agree with both of those. If we could continue to RE purple items into orange, moddable items I'd agree that an appearance tab is unnecessary. It would be a major time and money sink to get to those orange schematics, but I could deal with that. Or I'd buy crafted armor from someone else that has the look I want. The only way to end this argument is for a) someone to start posting examples of all the orange looks so that we can be sure we can get the look we want; b) the addition of the ability to RE purples to oranges, even if it's difficult; or c) an appearance tab. This argument will not go away until people can make their characters look the way they want.
  12. Again, prove there are oranges for every look. I've yet to find one that matches my current armor. Does that mean they don't exist? Not necessarily, but I have yet to find any orange that matches Combat Synth. If it exists, tell me what it is called, and what level schematic it is. Otherwise simply saying "that is what oranges are for" is an empty statement that can not be backed up by facts.
  13. For those of you that say there is "an orange item for every look", please tell me exactly what orange items match the look of medium Combat Synth armor. I love the look. I've reverse-engineered every piece up to purple, but as I understand it you can't continue to RE it till it gets to orange. I've been trawling the GTN, and so far I have seen NO oranges that duplicate the look. I've seen plenty of stuff that is hideous, or looks like it belongs in City of Heroes, but nothing that matches the look of Combat Synth. You can't tell me that it's "not lore," or it wouldn't be available at all. Until someone can specifically name the orange armor that gives me a look identical to what I'm wearing, and what I like, I don't think you can argue that you can get any look you want from crafting.
  14. I'm using Wineskin. Have gotten as far as the loading screen before server selection and things seem stuck there. Not sure if there is a queue or if it is actually stopping at that point. Blue wheel in the bottom right corner is spinning. Anyone else working on getting this running under Wine?
  15. On the 19th they will shut down all the servers to prepare for the official launch. On the 20th they will open the floodgates and their servers will be hammered, probably the instant the game goes live. There is no reason to do the waves, the process will be meaningless on the 20th. The system was already stress tested during a weekend in November. What is happening is that they are using EA as another stress test, when they are supposedly prepared. So yes, I would rather they let everyone in and put up with the stability issues, so any last minute problems can get ironed out before the 20th. Yes, I'd rather have a long queue. At least I'd know I'd get to play sometime, instead of anxiously hoping for an email. I'd settle for a post somewhere with a tentative schedule of what dates will be covered in each wave. Sure, it might not happen exactly that way, could vary by a wave earlier or later, but at least people would have some clue. Think of it this way. You move into a new house and call up the local cable company to have cable installed. The company then tells you they'll be there sometime between Tuesday and Sunday to hook it up, just wait around, we'll call you a couple hours before we come. I don't know about you, but I'd be looking for someone else to do business with. And before you say, "that's different, this is only a game," in principle it's not. I can live without cable, just like not playing a game doesn't really hurt me. The idea is communication. I expect the cable company to tell me a day and a general time. I expect that, as a paying customer, they will do their best to communicate with me. BioWare is providing a service, and they need to improve communications with their customer base.
  16. Need a recommendation for a good wiki. The 3 or 4 I've seen don't appear to have been updated since the NDA was listed. Example: the smuggler companion Risha. Nothing has any detail on her, except to say she is found on Aldeberran. This is false, or at least incomplete, because you meet her on your ship when you get it on Coruscant. Anyone know one that is keeping itself up to date?
  17. I'm gonna bump this, because I've been wondering about the mail thing.
  18. Bootcamp is misunderstood by most people. Bootcamp does not allow you to play on OS X like some people think. What it does is allow your Mac to dual boot, choosing to start up with either OS X or with Windows. You're not playing using Bootcamp, you are playing on Windows, just like any other "PC" user, until you decide to boot your computer back into OS X. What people want is a way to play natively on OS X, without having to restart the computer and lose access to all the other programs they have installed on OS X, and without having to shell out extra to buy a copy of Windows. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it's going to happen for a very long time.
  19. I wouldn't expect one anytime soon. SWTOR is apparently written in Microsoft Visual C++ (judging from the installation requirements), which means it is heavily dependent on Windows. Altering that to Mac's Objective-C is a major undertaking. SWTOR also uses DirectX; to make it work natively in OS X means recoding everything to use OpenGL instead. While information is kind of hard to find at this point (since the game is just starting up) I've seen indications that a number of people (me included) are working on getting it functioning using Wine in one way or another. If that can be done without too huge of a performance hit the game will be playable on OS X and Linux. So, basically, stay tuned.
