  1. Hi Jackie, do we have any sort of estimate yet regarding when this patch will be deployed? Even a rough ballpark estimate would suffice. Is it likely to be in a week, a few weeks, a month or an even longer timeframe? ~zvbm
  2. It's been so long since I've been able to get into the game that I have even stopped checking the forums daily. I may check back someday randomly to see if I can log on, but at this point I've mostly lost interest. ~zvbm

  4. Seen a lot of good suggestions on here so far, but I have a somewhat different idea about what makes a strikes fighter. I propose just one simple change, give the strike chassis a 50-75% accuracy buff for only the outer most range bracket. (~4-6k for heavies) in addition to perhaps a slight bonus to primary weapon damage. What I see this doing, is making strikes the undisputed mid range fighters. Gunships and scouts could then no longer pop DF and carry on as they would allowing strikes to offer decent peels. Scouts could no longer plunge into the midst of 2-3 competent strikes and assume they could get away unscathed. Jousting a strike would no longer be quite so straight forward since there would be a range at which the strike starts out better and then a range at which it is weaker, making for a more interesting distance based dynamic, perhaps encouraging multiple passes by strikes. Another effect of this would be to makes strikes very good at chasing fleeing targets. When the opponent is running from you, it is quite easy to keep them at the outer limit of your range and the added accuracy would then allow you to hit even at high deflections. The reason why I don't want this accuracy buff at all ranges is to encourage 'pack play', where multiple strikes fly together and cover each other against scouts who would get in close and out turn them. I claim no responsibility for any (unlikely) dev decisions this may influence. :: ENDDISCLAIMER :: I was actually thinking about something similar yesterday while in one of those 'meetings' at work. What if the T1 gunship had no access to the ion railgun, the T2 instead had plasma and ion and the T3 had plasma only? The T2 would then be the king of ranged debuffs and be THE priority target owing to it's weak defenses. The T1 would be the only GS with a slug and still be deadly, while losing quite a bit of it's team utility. The T3 would be severely weakened though. Thoughts? ~Zen

  7. I'd like to give my 2c as a pilot who flies the t1 strike very offensively. That said, I completely agree with Drako and Verain that against an equally skilled battlescout the odds aren't in your favour. I usually run with quads/heavies/clusters/directional shields/retro and wingman. The key element is surprise. If you can open on the scout with quads and a simultaneous cluster lock, they will be forced to use a missile break or die. From then on, the strategy changes based on cooldown use and the scout's loadout. If it's a quads/pods or a BLC/pods scout, set shields to front and pretend to joust and go evasive as soon as he pops his cooldowns. Once the cooldowns run out try and get him to joust again and with shields to front you can come out on top. (Don't forget to re-adjust your shield priority while evading) Top scout pilots however will not joust without atleast one cooldown up and it ends up being a very long drawn out dogfight where you end up relying on the shield piercing from your clusters. If it's a blc/cluster build, maintain your distance. Quads > BLC outside the 2k range. Bait them into using their cooldows and joust when you're comfortable. Don't be afraid to use retro early to get a few shots in while still staying outside their effective range. You can even consider swapping to heavies for a second if you can generate the distance. General tips: Always keep an eye on the scout's buff bar. If they pop DF/TT/BO at any time during a joust, boost past and try again. Lean to corkscrew while evading. It's really hard to consistently land hits on someone who's corkscrewing. Stay close to obstacles to neutralize the turn rate advantage. You may end up crashing a few times but stick with it; it's a valuable skill to have in GSF. Hope this helps. ~Zen P.S: If a battlescout has upgraded TT, it's up for 15 seconds out of every 30. Takes a lot of patience to deal with that. tl;dr - Nerf TT!
  8. The optimal counter for the 4GS + 4Bomber setup is to go 8GS which in turn is contered by 4GS+4scouts. I believe Drakolich has a video somewhere which showcases just this. Unfortunately, your team wasn't in a position to field enough gunships. I feel that the problem with the gunship bomber deathballs is not so much that they can't be countered but that they have a very low skill floor to set up. You can have an effective deathball with stock bombers and gunships piloted by relatively inexperienced pilots. Just spend the initial 5k fleet requisition grant to get the quarrel/mangler and the rampart/razorwire and you're all set. However, to properly counter this you require a bit of requisition spent in a GS, with both railguns at t4 (ion prefrably at t5 with the regen blocking talent). I've been daydreaming about GSF balance a bit and came up with something which I haven't seen discussed on these forums. What if railgun accuracy was tied to zoom? Right now, there is no cost for zooming out all the way while scoped to get the best turning rate. If there was a drastic drop in accuracy when zoomed out (say 50%) and a corresponding increase in accuracy (something like 20%) for being zoomed all the way in, it would make it a good deal harder for a gunship to nail someone who was charging them. Kills Xoid(Zen) - Overall - Eternal Dominion - Bastion - 84.21% W/L All the above are mostly solo Q toons. I was surprised that my best stats were on Lunatick, whom I made to play mostly strike games. Only mastered ship on him is the Rycer with about 90 of his 145 games played as a Rycer. ~Zen

  11. Bring out the ion cannons! A new DPS record shall be set this day. On a more serious note, I'd love to see a buff to shield strength in general. It would increase TTK somewhat and perhaps make ion weapons more meaningful. Not ion missile though. I propose it be changed so it strips ALL shields, both front and back. Now, there's a missile I could find a use for. ~Zen

  13. Love this thread. Made me laugh out loud. Here's a few more. Collect 20 powerups in a TDM without dealing or taking any dmg. - Playing your own game. Win 20 games in a row with nothing but strikes in your hangar. - I beat the game. Win a game without a death using only mouse (no keyboard) with default keybinds. - Look ma! No hands! Self destruct with charged plating active. - Too much pinball is bad for you. Get 100% accuracy with a gunship. - Some sort of bot. Power dive through any of the openings on kuat mesas(without crashing). - Threading the needle. Get 500 objective points without doing any dmg. - Pacifist. Cause someone who landed a sabo probe on you to crash while the probe's still active. - What just happened? Suffer 100% interdiction and live to tell the tale. - The one that got away. ~Zen
  14. True enough. Ideally you should be able to leave the satellite babysitting to the bombers. However, there are quite a few matches where the rest of your team seems to be overly interested in prospecting for gold on some distant asteroid and you're left doing everything yourself. In any case, it's a useful bit of information to have in general. ~Zen
