  1. I've played tank Juggernaut almost since launch, never tried either DPS spec until recently, never wanted to. I finally got fed up with how long it took me to kill stuff in Immortal spec and decided to try Vengeance. I really like it, but the DPS isn't where I feel like it could/should be as I'm currently in full Conq tank gear. I've always loved my tank Juggs ability to wade thru half the Republic Army while never dipping below 90% health XD, and I'd like to retain some of that while in Vengeance spec. My primary question is this: would there be a stat build that would allow me to switch between Immortal and Vengeance without severely impacting the performance of either spec? I've got a rough idea what I think would be best, but I wanted the opinion of more experienced/skilled/knowledgeable players. I'm a purely PvP player, so no need to factor PvE stat priority into the equation. If anyone thinks I'd have an easier time switching between Immortal and Rage, I'd be willing to try it. Just looking for a stat build that'd let me play DPS effectively when tanking gets a lil too dull. (If I just need to give up and grind a set of Vindicator gear then say so, I'll sadly accept that lol)
  2. i apologize, I should've given more detail on my stats, probly would help you answer my question lol. My priority has been Endurance>Cunning>Power>Alacrity. I've only stacked End over Cunning while I'm leveling and I don't plan to continue that after hitting 55. I don't currently have any Crit or Surge on my gear, nor any augments, so my stats look like this: Lvl 47 Cunning 920 End 1161 Power 362 Alacrity 243 My crit rating comes to 18% from base+smuggler buff+cunning (7%)+1% that I can't figure out where it's from... Lol Surge is at base 50% since I hav none on my gear Don't know if you'll need it, but my ranged bonus dmg is 302, tech bonus dmg is 483 Anything else you need me to include just tell me. Side note: should I hav my gear augmented at this lvl? Edit: been trying the new rotation out in WZs this morning and it's SOOOO much better lol, I can take targets down noticeably faster.
  3. I was hoping someone could explain to me the reason(s) for the rotation you recommend as well as the recommended stat priority. In my experience (which I will admit is far less than most of the people on this thread, but still includes a crap ton of WZs lol) I've found that my rotation works better like this: Pugnacity>SF+FR>BB>DK>SP>SP>SP(If Round Two procs)>BW>SP>SP(If Round Two procs)>SC>TD and repeat from BB if needed. This rotation usually lets me get off SF and BB (our 2 highest dmg abilities) uncontested, keeps the target out of the fight longer (the extra GC allowed by using BB inbetween SF and DK), and maximizes the use of SP, as well as makes use of the extra UH and alacrity from Pugnacity. This rotation usually puts enemies in the respawn area in under 10 secs for me, but I'm sure there's a reason why you have yours the way you do and I'm looking to learn and improve if I can. Now for stats, I've been using a pure Power and Alacrity build since lvl 35ish (lvl 47 now) and I LOVE it. The alacrity really helps put targets down quickly, and all my power gives me better sustained dmg without relying on crits for anything. It should be said that I am a little hesitant to use crit on any of my toons, I just don't like it. As I've heard it explained and seen for myself, crit is only a useful stat IF you crit. All those times when you don't crit are times when those slots would've been better spent on Power, and power works on EVERY hit, not just a certain % of them. Again tho, I'm sure you know what you're doing better than I do and I'd love to know if anyone else has tried a build like mine and could compare notes with me...? Like I said, I'm looking to learn and improve if I can. Thanks! =)
  4. Not saying I really know what I'm talking about here, but I just came back to my Commando the other night after MONTHS of playing other toons and did Lost Island with a tank that was... I'll be kind and say "sub-par" in terms of gear. The only heals I used 90% of the time were TP, KB, and BI as needed. Even when I needed bigger heals, usually AMP>MP sufficed. Now I know for sure that's not the best method for healing on a Mando, and yet nobody died on my (noob) watch... Just sayin. Plus, Lost Island is one of the harder high lvl flashpoints, and I probly screwed up a lot. =/ If a noob like me can do that, something must be wrong if you're having to use everything you have to heal the same kinda flashpoints. Note: the Lost Island I did was SM, not sure if you were referring to HMs, but that wasn't indicated in your post so I assume not. If you were, then I'll shut up and go away, cuz I'm afraid I must admit I've never healed a HM or an OP... Like I said, I'm a noob on heals. =P
  5. Personally, I find very few occasions when I need KS on anyone but the tank. With the buffs to kolto missile in 2.0, I just spam that instead of switching my kolto shell from player to player. The only time I use it on myself is usually in PvP/solo PvE, or if something goes really wrong (playing with a noob tank like yesterday, for example), and I suddenly need every trick in the book to keep myself alive. Also, I kinda like the Peacekeeper talent. Sure it's not really useful in PvE, but lets not forget that Mercs/Commandos hav the rep for being the toughest heals class out there in terms of survivability when under the gun, peacekeeper adds to that rep by making your attacks heal you. Anyway, just my opinion, I've always liked that Mercs and commandos were nice and tough, and peacekeeper goes right along with that aspect of the class IMO. It makes us different.
  6. I have the same problems with Force management as you are talking about. I don't know of any long term solution lol, but one thing I will say is that Consumption can be used (in the right situation!) to remedy some of that. Pop it once or twice if u need a little extra force and either let your DoT's self-heals bring u back up to full health or pop Unnatural Preservation. Just be sure to have a look around and determine how the fight is going before u do that, you don't wanna have UP on cd when you really need it. Hope that helps a little.
  7. Now that's what I need to hear lol. Awesome advice. I will definitely try to work on my playstyle. I've done a little more aggressive fighting even since my last post, spending less time in stealth and more time actually playing, but I'm definitely gonna keep working. Had an awesome Civil War match tonight: I was unbeatable, MVP, and pretty much carried the team; but only because I spent most of my time out of stealth bashing imp faces in xD, and I must say, I see your point. As I said before, my objective in learning this class is still primarily to get better at playing objectives, and the numbers can go screw themselves for all I care (joking, no offense intended:jawa_biggrin:) most important thing to me is a win for our team no matter what my stats look like. Your help with definitely allow me to support my team better in wzs, so thank you. ANY other advice you have for me is welcome, still really new to the class and I need all the help I can get. So basically we could agree that pulling high numbers has no bearing on whether or not a person plays wzs objectively?
  8. I'm not saying that a player who puts up big numbers isn't good, just that that doesn't necessarily indicate that he/she has played objectives and helped his team win. As I said, you can put up record numbers and still lose, I see noobs do that all the time lol. Frankly what I'm saying is that I don't hav the skill to be on the front lines putting up big numbers without dying a boatload of times and/or being useless to the team. I agree that staying stealthed the whole time usually makes u useless, but u can also use it right. I stay in stealth a lot of the time playing very conservatively and frequently find myself able to ambush that ball carrier who thinks he's gotten away from my team, or take out that healer who hides to patch himself up for a second, or cap a node who's defender has gotten lazy cuz he's not seeing any action. I find myself more useful that way, because, again, I just don't have the skill for frontline combat on this class yet. My Immortal Jugg, sure, but not a Scrapper lol *Edit*: Didn't mean to sound like I was trying to start a debate. Anyway, I'm still at a loss for lowbie Scrapper PvP info. I realize a lot of our key abilities and talents don't come til later, but I don't think that should mean I'm on my own til I lvl more. No offense intended, just sayin lol
  9. First off I wanted to say thanks to Miyke for this awesome guide, nothing else like it out there. Hope they keep this stickied FOREVER lol; and I apologize up front for this enormous post. =P Now my only complaint is that there isn't much info here for lowbie scrappers, I was lvl 20 when I first read this guide a few days ago and therefore didn't hav the vast majority of abilities talked about here (SF, TB, DA, sneak, etc). I'm lvl 26 now and hav improved MASSIVELY from reading this guide, but I'm still at a loss about my gear, "rotation", etc while leveling. NOTE: I'm not a super serious player, primarily I play SWTOR for fun, so I don't really care about min/maxing or working for massive numbers in wzs, I just want to be geared well enough to be useful. I don't really think, no offense to anyone, that doing 900k smg in a wz has anything to do with being good at them. You can do boatloads of dmg and still lose. I don't even do 100k in most lowbie wzs but I'm voted MVP a lot because I focus on objectives rather than numbers. Example being a hyper gate match I played yesterday. I had lowest kills and and dmg, but got 5 votes cuz I beat off (after calling inc, that is) at least 1 ninja-ing attempt b4 each discharge. A couple times I did so 2v1, and I definitely think ( my lousy numbers be darned lol) that we would've lost that match had I not been on defense with the knowledge this guide gave me.
  10. So I've been looking around a lot but can't find any specifics on the subject so I gave up and made this thread. What should my Health, Armor rating, dmg reduction, shield, absorb, and def chance be looking like at lvl 55? I want specific values/percentages PLEASE. I can't find anything like that anywhere. Also, if there's someone who could give me a thumbs up/down on my current stats, they are as follows. Lvl 39 Jugg, full Immortal spec. Health 11,500 Armor 5,100; armor dmg red: 45% (I think, doin this from memory) Def rat 11% Shield/absorb 28% (both same %) Accuracy 91% or so. Lastly, I know I'm asking a lot, but I'd love to hav some stat goals for Assassin and Powertech tanks too for comparison. Thanks so much for your help and time.
  11. Obviously you've never heard of Miyamoto Musashi, one of the greatest samurai warriors in history. He frequently made use of dual-wielding, often with one katana held with a reverse grip. Other samurai (possibly including Musashi) used shotos (short swords, i.e. Ahsoka's offhand saber) and would wield them with a reverse grip when the situation call for it. As was already mentioned, modern martial arts also make use of reverse grip styles of combat. I'd say samurai, particularly Musashi, have always been very good at killing things and surviving to tell the tale, wouldn't you? If not, then maybe Starkiller and Ahsoka would be proof enough for you? Reverse grip is an awesome idea, and a perfectly effective style of combat; I for one hope BW reads this thread and decides to do something with it.
  12. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I hope someone can help anyway. I hav the Korribani Battle boots and leggings from the Korribani heroics, but I don't kno where to find the rest of the set. Please don't respond to this with "Oh, it's not that good anyway, forget about it;" I already got that from some jerk on Korriban and I don't care, I'm out for the look more than the stats. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
  13. Having played a Commando Combat Medic up to level 42, I know that there are 2 types of Shadow/Assassin tanks: 1) the well-played tank Shadow/Assassin almost never needs healing and can pretty much take care of himself making my job really easy. 2) the poorly played Shadow/Assassin tank needs almost constant healing, dies several times despite your best efforts and generally causes the group a lot of frustration and inconvenience. Having just started an Assassin tank of my own, I definitely want to be type 1. I really want any kind of tips/advice/suggestions/etc that you can offer. I've pretty much got my skill build worked out based on my research, but any help in that area is still much appreciated. Primarily I want to know what stats to gear for and what pieces in particular work best (PVP and PVE), what my rotation should be like, and I'd love any special tricks or tips anyone has to offer. Note: I'm currently leveling a Shadow tank AS WELL AS an Assassin tank so any tips for either one are appreciated. I posted this thread in the Assassin forums because I'm focusing on that toon more than I am on my Shadow currently.
  14. Why is it every forum eventually deteriorates into a pointless debate? Just curious, cause I thought this thread was supposed to be about tanks... 8P
  15. Cool, sounds easy enough. Any tips or stuff I should know?
  16. Thanks kuey! Which do you think would be the best starter class for someone who's never played a healer in this game? (I was an EPIC healer in SWG, but I've never played a healer in SWTOR) I've got a level 35 Juggernaut tank, but healing is pretty different from tanking, so I need something easy to learn with. Thanks in advance. =P
  17. So what I'm getting (after wading thru pages and pages of unrelated crap, pointless arguments, and mindless debates) is that for survivibility and single target heals, Mercenary/Commando is best; AoE heals are more the Sith Sorcerer/Jedi Sage area of expertise; and Operative/Scoundrel is a decent all-rounder. Is this a decent synopsis or have I read too much 1.2 nerfing related garbage to make sense of this forum? I want to know what each healer's pros and cons are before I pick what to roll my healer character as. Thanks for the help. =D
  18. This guide is EPIC! Phottek, u rock bro. Thanks for the guide!
