  1. It's probably to divert your attention away from the gear and towards what PvP really is - killing other people. In a random environment you can't fault others for getting lucky, or at least you shouldn't. But I suppose we live in a world where everyone feels entitled to everything and their mum. How about you stop playing Gear-o-matic and start enjoying the game. Alternatively, play Bubble Blast instead.
  2. I found that being more lax in my approach to using trinket and escape abilities greatly helped my game in warzones. Fights are short when I pick the wrong targets. Which still happens but not nearly as often as before.
  3. This is funny and new. These aren't exploits you're talking about here, you're talking about effective play. Putting the ball on a squishy with a speed buff and healing them through damage while you mass slow the opposing force so he can run the ball? Nice play. Keeping everyone occupied by healing tanks and harassing everyone while mostly just healing, slowing and CCing as your ball handler scores time and time again? Good tactic. Stealthing behind the enemies' lines and running the ball under the bridges before it, then ninjapassing and insta-scoring? Quick win. Letting the opposing team almost get to your base, killing the ball handler, then suiciding so it goes to mid, stealth player picks it up and runs for a score? Again, just a nice play. Don't want to deal with pugs? There's a solution. It's called a damn premade and it requires you take as much time as it does to make a post decrying the design of instanced objective-based PvP in this game to set up.
  4. I don't really get 3 shot and I'm not in full PvP gear. Guess using trinket + force camo works. Or hell, just being able to see and react. Are you sure you're playing the game? Have you tried playing this instead?
  5. This is a tough issue. I can't make up my mind because at the moment the game is still in that period where people are not massively crowding the 50s bracket but there's enough of them to take the fun out of some of it. To be honest, I prefer NOT TO MAKE GAMEBREAKING CRAP DECISIONS BASED ON A TEMPORARY ISSUE AND ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE to prevent further damage. Suck it. Wait it out. Stop expecting weekly nerfs on your behalf. Get a gdamn friends list and start grouping. Gawd.
  6. Which is interesting because there's an option under ESC > Preferences > Controls > Ability Queue that does just that. Also, anyone else not really having that much trouble enjoying the game? If you read these forums you might think everything about this game is broken and sucks the fun out of it but it really doesn't. The only tiring thing is threads where people basically congregate to say "this suxorz", "yes, it really does lol", "wow is better", "it really is", "let's go play some more swtor for ammo on the forums", "lolololololol". BF3 is amazing at 150 fps. SWTOR is great at 60. I see no reason to play one to the exclusion of the other.
  7. I love how friendly the OP is. He's been wwwebsite since ... Anyway, it's been said many times but bugs can be complex and thinking that just throwing more people at it will do any good. Also, what proof do you have that the technical lead at Bioware isn't working on these issues 16 hours / day or more? I find your lack of understanding of game development disturbing.
  8. Agreed on all counts except the force scream. I like the ability as it is and for marauders it is actually fine. It auto-crits in Carnage builds so how you justify those in an AoE situation would be a bit tricky. On juggs it might be better but it would affect the other AC as well eh. Pommel strike is a useless skill, no one should spend any more time on it than it takes to remove it to be honest. Just throw it out, it serves no purpose unless it's scaling is amaznig or you can make it 100% arp or something. EDIT: I'd prefer something along the lines of [Pommel Strike] Hits the target for 456-563 damage. If the target is incapacitated, slowed or rooted Pommel Strike will ignore 50% of their armour.
  9. Close to 40 I stopped being rage starved. I suggest you do that same. I am a narwhal and I approve this class. My fins are perfect for the rotation and I'd highly recommend it to dolphins as well.
  10. Stop using your leap to clear distances you can run. If there's no focus fire on you, just run the distance and open with BA. Get knocked back, charge from there. It's not freakin' rocket science. Also, stop running into 2v1 engagements without any of your cds on.
  11. My favourite thing is when they do knockback and I stand on top of them, negating the effect almost completely. Oh wha- EDIT: Also, who the hell still charges into sorcs with their knockback off cd? Just run into them, they won't notice you because they're too busy spamming FL on some nab. They do their little panicky knockback, you slowed them while falling away and then charge from that distance. Hard? I think not. Ops are the real trouble.
  12. WHy are you here? Waste of space imo. Anyway, I think it isn't that bad. It is very disappointing though and I agree that implementing a dead companion wouldn't have been a bad decision. They do a damn popup when you go into a PvP server, why not one to make sure you kill him? Why wouldn't you be able to gimp yourself? It's up to you right? Maybe down the line they'll expand on the system and some less conservative choices will be available
  13. Buy mercenary tokens so you can buy bags at 50. It's not very exciting but it works I got the blues at 40 and nothing else. Helps with the levelling. At 30 I got nothing, didn't pvp and just levelled through to 40 tbh.
  14. Err ... yes please, more same faction warzones. No queues and great fun. Sure, huttball favours a certain setup - but so do any of the others. Don't be such a bad and just learn to take out sorcs instead of QQing here.
  15. I play Empire and I have no trouble with the population on my server. I'm happy playing Huttball but there's a lot of QQ on the forums so I figured I'd post something. Probrem? You want to play with your friends? Play on a server that isn't already populated to the brim.
  16. I'm sure it's hard to keep up with the threads but I figured I'd throw it out there. Instead of whining about everything here are some quick fixes for population differences: Show population ratios on the server selection screen for every server I'm not sure this is a one-shot fix but it should at least help those players that would want to choose a balanced server. At the end of the day, we all recognize that queues get very long when imbalance grows or you end up playing Pro Huttball Evolution 2012. Fact is, you've put a lot of energy and development into creating compelling stories and levelling gameplay. This makes playing all classes, or at least more than one, a lot more attractive than it is under the more grindy model of traditional MMOs. Not to say there's not grind but it's hidden a lot better, making alts viable for those that previously didn't want them. With this in mind, giving players the choice to roll Republic or Empire on a server they know enjoys the support they need for their play style can't be bad. It won't keep everyone from rolling on the 5:1 imp server but it sure as hell will make it easier for people to find their preferred destination. Lock new character creation when imbalance starts to show You've probably got statistics on all the server populations. I'm sure you do because if you don't that'd be very worrisome. I'll go ahead and assume that you track these values and keep an eye out for server loads so you can move resources around to where they are needed. So I'm going to assume you keep track of republic vs empire populations. Cut the capacity down the middle, give an arbitrary margin like 15% and start warning players that the server is approaching its limit on Imperials. Lock creation of that faction for new players on servers approaching the margin and lock it for existing players when the margin is reached. It's harsh and a method I would see doing more good later in the game rather than earlier. However, having this on hand and preparing for it might give you the edge you need to deal effectively with gross population problems post-expansion instead of chasing the problem and firefighting. Give XP bonuses to characters rolled on the underplayed faction on heavily imbalanced servers Incentivization is an ugly game to play but with uncoordinated, culturally diverse and largely undirected masses it works like a charm. Giving out XP bonuses together with character locking might make people play on the other side or even start mirror guilds. Sure, the latter isn't particularly what you want but results are what matter. Creating balance is mostly about what happens at peak times, when the load is up and the players are most visible to eachother. Having republic players choose to play their imperial alts during peak times will make the game feel 'balanced' for a lot of them. This would also aid in improving the PvP experience as PvP alts would become more commonplace. PvE would perhaps be more of an overplayed faction game but there's very little wiggle room there I think. Introduce more same-faction warzones People on these forums scream for variety - they're a vocal minority. Most players never visit the official forums and an even smaller portion post. People in general chat scream for more variety - again, a vocal minority. Still, I don't think it's a bad idea to introduce more of the same faction Warzones from a game enjoyment perspective. I remember not PvPing for long stretches of time in WoW because I didn't feel like grinding out kills / caps in Warsong Gulch. Also, variety forces players to be flexible as a well-designed warzone will challenge players to come up with better strategies. Note that it's hard to have a favourite warzone when the ratio of alderaan : voidstar : huttball being something like 13 : 42 : 329. Perhaps this isn't a massive problem yet but I feel like the pressure on this is mounting. Most players I've spoken to don't seem to have a problem with same faction warzones - they enjoy them just the same. Getting to kill your own class is fun as well. Make a couple of world "pits" where you can fight anyone at any time with stats recorded Gurubashi Arena - great invention back in old school WoW. It was fun, disorganized and because it was a specific location it worked like a charm. Put a pit on every planet over level 40 and apply bolster effects in 2-3 meters around it. Grant decreased valor in these pits (to keep exloits from taking it too far), add some dailies around it that reward valor and make 1 or 2 of them have something akin to a chest, dropping a non-combat pet / item with costume effect / empty orange flavour weapon. To be honest, I think this is very doable and shouldn't take too many resources. Make the chest spawn only every once in a while and in the mean time people can hang out there for the dailies. Recording the win/loss, k/d ratios and damage done is of great importance to this. It adds significance and relevance in a way that "I did this stuff back in the day" never wil. I think these aren't horrible ideas. Sure, there's some creaky stuff there that might not work, piss people off even more or lead to exploits. I'm sure there's people on the boards here that have far better ideas with more detailed explanations. Post em, have a ball. Let's give Bioware some juice to work with
  17. No thanks. Plenty of WPvP games out there, none of them are currently competing directly with WoW or SWTOR in numbers. There's a reason for that. I prefer my game not to suck between prime times.
  18. It's fun to see someone cast something at you and run through them at the last moment. Not facing target Best message for ranged in the game. Might as well say "L2P nab".
  19. Well, 50s are getting their own bracket so soon enough you'll be up against only players with little to no expertise between lvl 10 and 49. There'll still be wrecking balls and matches will still have outcomes based on how many healers are on each side, but it'll be a bit better. Frankly, I consider levelling warzones to be just that. Levelling. It's a welcome distraction and XP gain bonus from walking through quests. It helps you skip content you've done before on another character due to overlevelling and provides gear to progress more smoothly with. In that regard, I think the whole "premade" thing is kind of a wasted argument. tl:dr: lol fix on da way n levelling =/= endgame. omg y u no get it
  20. Let me introduce you to my friend: Punctuation. He likes you, he wants to play with you. Even though he's a little creepy at times, and things can certainly get a little freaky with him (if you know what I mean), he's cool and deserves your attention. FAIL POST IS FAIL! Y U NO PUNCTUATE!?!?!?!?!
  21. Imma do a little dance seeing as how you unsubbed. I title it "thank god you're gone, you no bit loser". Ready? Here goes: /dance
  22. What did you want, some cake in celebration of you leaving? Here's some failcake, go clog some other forums. ^^^^ |===|
  23. You should unsub from life because you'll find most things don't really follow linear patterns. I mean, we would have been able to see these things coming: 1. Current recession 2. President Bush 3. President Bush 4. Kerry Katona 5. What microwave food really tastes like 6. Kim Kardashian ... or the whole family for that matter 7. The whole football vs soccer thing 8. Microsoft's failure to build a decent kernel 9. Every bug in TOR 10. Siege combat in AoC 11. RMP 12. The floods in Thailand 13. Damn HDD prices at the moment because of above 14. Einstein's death 15. Facebook 16. Sexting ... and prevent them if it did. Unfortunately, life isn't linear. Enjoy your coffin.
  24. I found myself using fewer and fewer addons as time went on. I went from using a full set of DPS addons to using just DBM with just sounds on and bag/auction addons. Didn't need more towards the end.
