Currently in the market for one :)
  1. Unfortunetly, the problem occurs much earlier in the scene before you enter in. It's found in the phrase, "ppl leaving wzs." To prevent quitters, Bioware has two options. 1. Increase reward for losing, thus giving them incentive to stay - The Problem: Everyone and their mom can quickly grind up gear regardless of skill. 2. Penalize the quitters - Problem: kiddies will whine, pout, and eventually do what they do best... Quit! The latter option, which I believe to be far superior, is on it's way in various forms, and should cut down on how many times you queue into a losing wz! (bioware hasn't completely dropped the ball here)
  2. Sounds good bioware! Glad to see pvp getting more attention in this patch. The changes should greatly enhance the current state of pvp (cross your fingers)!
  3. seriously? Play to have fun... period. If fun involves you giving up when you "think" your going to lose, then please don't que up to start with. I have fun playing the game, and trying to win, no matter the odds, no matter the challenge. Rarely is a situation so bleak, as to warrant going afk or quitting. And if so, in the final seconds of the slaughter, send a gracious gg their way and then hit their largest group with everything you can throw at them (minus the kitchen sink)!
  4. This ^ TOR has a lot going for it, and I'm in for the long haul. However, it has a great many single player aspects that discourage group play. (Companions anyone?) Other things will be added and fixed, of that I have no doubt; I do however worry about the MMO aspect. If Bioware can get a firm grasp on this, then TOR has a bright future!
  5. While I can understand your general frustration with premades, the above quote is simply ridiculous. A premade is simply another term for teamwork. PvP in this game is not meant to be solable. So a bunch of guys get together and work out a TEAM strategy, and this makes them unskilled? Since when has strategy, planning, and skillful execution been something to sneer at? Contrary to many peoples belief, this is not a single player game, it is an mmo. Bioware will not penalize teamwork by extending queue times for those premades. Now, when cross-server pvp is implemented down the road, you might see this. However I would think the addition of rated warzones would make this particular feature of little value. In conclusion, play as a team and everyone's problems are solved!
  6. "Artifice" is the crafting skill that directly benefits from those crystals, and also allows you to craft them into various upgrades for your light saber! The Gathering skill "Archeology", and the mission skill "Treasure Hunting" work hand-in-hand with "Artifice" to help you gather the required mats for those upgrades. If you do take "Artifice" for crafting, I would strongly suggest you grab the other two ( Gathering, and Treasure Hunting) to help support your crafting skill.

    classes

As far as class; I would suggest rolling a dps. While in the end you might end up enjoying tanking or healing more, dps is a good starter role. It'll allow you to get a good understanding of how the game works, and then you can branch off to a more difficult role in the future. (Personally I just enjoy dpsing). That being said, every class has a dps spec, so find a class that resonates with you, and have some fun!
  8. lol, nice post op. After a rough day at work this is just what I needed to lift my spirits! And yah, goal keepers, enjoy it while it lasts, the nerf bats are coming!
  9. grats on 50! Now what's next? Simple answer is... whatever is fun! If you like the story aspect, lvl an alt! If you like the pvp aspect... do some pvp! (The trick to acquiring pvp gear is to participate in pvp, simple right?) Use the rewards you acquire via your pvping to upgrade your gear. Yes, you might suck at first, but with time, skill, and gear, you'll come out on top!!! If pvping doesn't float your boat, then perhaps operations does? Now don't expect to jump in with the pros right off the bat... start small, do some flash points, do some hm flashpoints, do some 8 man operations, do some hm 8 man operations, do some 16 man operations, do some 16 man hm operations! And wallah, you've arrived! Might I suggest you acquire a great group of friends/guildies to increase your chances of success, and to avoid the "gear grinding" mentality, and focus on the "This is fun" mentality! Of course theirs a variety of other options, if none of those move you to action, but those are the main ones! See you in game
  10. sigh... because this game has been out for a little over a month, a mere drop in the bucket when considering an mmo's lifespan. They will add schematics, etc. in future patches/expansions, to make those skillz worth while. Be patient my padawans
  11. Seriously, the responses in this thread (not the actually medal/title), are cracking me up. You do realize that this founder title has been in the works for a long time right, and is not in response to the current state of the game??? If this game is still going years from now, this will probably be my favorite title! Yes, you might consider it a bribe... however one can just as easily consider it a reward for putting up with the bugs, lag, and other issues that are STANDARD for new mmo's! Here's what you should do first: breath in... breath out... And then, if you still feel like taring up the forums with ridiculous and nonconstructive criticism, then perhaps you should find a better use for your time, rage quit, and go play outside!
  12. 1. Until you learn the ropes, stick with your real life friends. If that's not an option, then go out of your way to be extra friendly to others. The Star Wars ip has brought in an entire new player base; trust me, your not the only one struggling with terminology, etc. 2. Learn the terminology 3. Avoid leading a group, until your confident with the mechanics. 4. If you don't know what your supposed to do... ASK! 5. When searching for a group, be sure to state your lvl and role (dps, healz, tank) 6.Do NOT need for companion gear 7. Lastly, and most importantly... don't stand in the fire The mmo crowd can be quite nasty at times. Don't let one person's insults crush your spirits, and cause you to avoid groups. Ignore them, and try again!
  13. Ouch... Notice to all mmo newbies: Rolling "need" on any gear for the purpose of upgrading a companion, without the express approval of the group, is a habit that will get you into some serious pain. Although there are exceptions, the vast majority of the player base will see you as a lousy ninja, and will never group with you again! Or worse, they will smear your name across the chat channels for the benefit of everyone else to see. EVERYONE has a companion that could use that item, should everyone role need? If you say yes, then just wait until you spend countless hours farming a missing piece to your "o so epic armor," only to see another person "claim" that he wants it for a companion!!! Can you not see the danger here? The key word there is claim... how could he prove he's not just going to sell it for creds? A line must be drawn at a clearly discernible place. If not, it opens up a slippery slope that ends with chaos/confusion/anger, and everyone need rolling on everything. I believe that eventually this would kill PUGS, and subsequently, the overall community. A mechanism for a "companion need" might work, though I am unsure how this should be implemented.
  14. No choppy here, except when I get in warzones, and then its ridiculous! Might try lowering graphic settings and see if that solves your problem. I'm sure though , that within time, Bioware will streamline their game a bit better and solve some of the issues players are having, even on decent tech.
